Update on Life and Everything Else (explanation)

I've been trying to keep everything to myself the last couple days but I decided that you all (since you support me and fund me.) needed to know what was going on to hinder my progress in commission work. So this is going to be as thorough of an explanation as possible as to why I've been slow for the past several months aside from just being weighed down by a lot of commissions.
My husband has been out of work since October, which at first wasn't so bad and we assumed he'd be able to find another job without too many issues. He worked at McDonald's for 7 years and aside from a couple times being late, he was on time and stayed late when they needed him too. He didn't like working up there, but he needed a job and kept at it until he finally had had enough. He graduated from his tech classes last October as well to go into Welding. Which.. thus far hasn't worked out - but not for lack of trying. It is now April and he still hasn't gotten a job, also not for lack of trying - you'd think seven years of persistence with one job would speak for itself but apparently it doesn't. So we've been stressing a bit as the longer and longer he goes without a job the more things he loses and the harder I have to work to get enough money to pay the bills. This would help to explain why I've been having to continually stack more commission work on top of one another.
I'm not blaming him, I'm blaming where we live for lack of jobs. As we live in a small town, and with this economy, it's rough out there. When I couldn't get a job here - I started up commission work. Made a fresh FA and work my butt off trying to get enough attention to get the money we'd need. Now I'm still working hard to get as much done, but the past several months have been hard.
The past few months, including the unexpected ice storm, have made money greatly needed but time and focus hard. Both of my brothers birthdays have been the past two months - and it always has stressed me out not to be able to afford to get them something nice. So we'll say self-pity and depression might be mixed in with all of this - which is my own fault. No one else's, just mine and mother nature's.
Bills have been more expensive for several months in a row up until this nice weather up tick. My electric bill went through the roof and that explains my constant struggle for more money as well. See without my husband working there is only my best friend/roommate helping to pay for things. And her paycheck can't afford the house payment, all the bills and the food. So I cover all the extra bills - water, phone/internet, and electric. In the months of December, January, and February the bills all exceeded $150 and half of the time nearly breeched $200. My budget for bills had been $80 for phone/internet, $30 for water, and $100 on the electric. So budgeting for $210-$220 usually up until this point. And to be honest, I've only been managing a little over that (enough to pay the bills and maybe a little extra to put gas in my truck) these past months due to having to pay out and be that backed up on art.
I've been also very distraught from all the discouraging amount of work I've been doing as of late because I'm not a slow artist - really I'm not - but I've been getting terrible sketches or no ideas. Artist block has been knocking at my door and refuses to go away no matter how much I tell it to. And the less work I get done the worse I feel. I have managed to clear some of the older commissions off of my plate - which is an accomplishment. But even that hasn't given me enough of a boost to propel me into finishing all of my work load at top speed. My family, friends and husband are all very encouraging and loving, and I appreciate them - but this is my fault. I have done this.. two years in a row now. And I swear I won't do it this year. In September, October and November I will be buckling down and doing as much as I can (if I can ever manage to get un-buried) so I won't have to/do a (some # here) Days of Christmas. Because as cool as that is.. I just don't have the drive for it. Not unless I get it all pre-sketched out first.
And I think the last note to all of this...
This past Thursday (which was April 9th) my husband's grandmother passed away. Losing a loved one or relative is always a sad and depressing time. But for my husband this is a lot worse because for reasons I won't explain his grandmother raised him. His grandma and grandpa raised him and he might as well have been one of their own. Grandma always looked out for him, always wanted to see his excel and did everything a good mom does for their son. So the loss is felt in more than one way, he did lose a grandmother, but he also lost a mother. A parent. I can't stay I understand how he could possibly feel because everyone feels loss a bit different. I have lost a parent, my father, and that was devastating to me - and last year I lost my grandma who I loved very dearly - and that was painful as well. But I can't imagine losing my mother, it's a pain I can't explain and hope I don't have to experience for.. gosh at least fifty years.
So I apologize to everyone who is so patiently and graciously awaiting a commission from me. You are a blessing for being as level headed and patient with me. I am working through this, and I will get all of this completed. And as fast as I can manage - I just have a lot going on right now.

Commissions Open - April is Pokemon Themed

So to any of you who read my previous journal, you’d know that this was coming as I announced I was going to go for a Pokemon Themed month for April. Partially because of being so behind with my artwork (I’m having trouble staying motivated and working through with sketches that are turning out right) and partially because I LOVE Pokemon and I don’t have time to play it - so why not draw it?
Pokemon is the Theme; Regular pokemon, trainers, and pokemorphs are all welcome!
I’ll be taking everything from sketches to soft shaded. Backgrounds are fine, but they do take longer as a warning. I’ll still be taking non-theme related ref sheets, and images (flat color or less) - mostly because I’d like to mostly stick with the theme. c: Oh yes; and for images with Pokemon in it (feral pokemon) each pokemon will only be $4 to add in (per each) aside from large pokemon, if you’re uncertain of the ‘large’ pokemon stipulation just ask. Large pokemon will cost $8 to add in (per each).

April is gonna be Poké-Month
Posted 10 years agoIn light of the fact that I've been behind on art, I've decided on a theme for April (my birth month) that hopefully will get me out of this funk and get art done faster. April is going to be Pokémon Month; since I have Alpha Sapphire (which I still haven't beat yet.. -__-; yeah I know, been busy pfft) and a lot of Pokemon games that I wish I had more time to play - I decided this theme might also curb my want to play the games whilst I do art, right?
Two birds one stone!
So all YCHs, TCBYs, and commissions for this next month will likely be Pokémon themed! Though I will be still accepting Ref Sheet commissions and icon commissions that aren't Theme related. (And non-themed commissions) But I'll be setting up a proper journal for commissions and things for April on the last night of March because posting anything on April 1st is a lie. lawlz

I’ll be picky about the commissions I’m taking on as I’m in need of about $250-$300 usd in total for this month’s bills. I am trying to think of a good idea for a ych that might help bring in a good portion of that cash needed for the bills; but am unsure atm about it.
So I’m in need of an immediate $200;
Bill break down is
$30 for Water
$80 for Phone/Internet
$100-$150 for Electric
$20 for my Cell phone
So that puts us at $230 for the minimum on electric and all the other bills together. My cell is a prepaid so if it’s out for a few days it’s alright, but the rest of the bills need to be paid within the next few days to week.
So I’m going to open for 5 Slots for now and potentially more depending upon the type of commissions I get;;

Resuming Life and Work - Thank God for Power Again
Posted 10 years agoSo power is back on, but the whole situation in itself has been crazy. Jamestown and the surrounding areas were labeled a Natural Disaster and other crews from TN and just all over came to help us get restored. Took my first shower since the two days before we lost power (so like six days without a shower) so I feel a thousand times better. Got a sour stomach though, :/ so that sucks. Still I'm happy to have power again, currently staying at mom's house for the time another bout of ice is coming our way this thursday. So I decided staying with my mom would be better than getting stuck at my house. So yeah... totally looking forward to warm weather. Like bring it warm weather, please. My yard and everyone in town and surrounding areas' yards look like a war zones. Trees broken, debris everywhere. Man so much destruction. But on the plus side I've been reminded how blessed I actually am.. food, water, family, just.. all my family, husband's family and best friend's are all safe and survived this. That, that's just a blessing in itself. Thank you guys for baring with me, I hope to get my butt in gear and pump out some of these commissions now. c:

Absence Due to Ice Storm

I'm writing this via a phone and am not certain if I'll be able to get on after this for several days. As many of you know a winter storm named Octavia affected a lot of areas. Tennessee has been badly affected by this storm as well. We've had Vedas ice and snow for a week but yesterday had been the worst. Due to an ice storm many trees have broken and snapped, which in turn had snapped many transformers which has now been the cause of 46,000 people without power including us. I just wanted to reach out and let you all know what's going on and I pay admit off you who are being affected by this storm that you would stay safe and warm.

Sorry for the Silence
Posted 10 years agoI realized I haven't made a journal in a little while; so I figured I'd give you a quick update on my life and work and blah.
It's been a very busy and fast month, I can't believe how quickly this month has flown by. Commissions have been slow but I the plus side I have finished two of the long termed ones. I also will list high priority commissions below so you all know where I'm at on this. Bills have been stressful and my husband is still jobless - and not for lack of trying - just no one will hire him right now. And that's hard to deal with. Our dryer doesn't work (hasn't since november or something) and we need to fix so much stuff.. gah, and water and internet bill is fine - the electric has been killing me. I'll be opening for only a few commissions on the 2nd - just enough to pay for the Water and Internet while I try to tackle this list of commissions. I know it looks bad doing it that way - and I apologize. But I'd rather owe a commission or two extra than to not have running water or internet to contact you all with.
As for commissions - I am working. And I intend to get them all done as quickly as I can. High priority commissions are as follows: Copper_soul-fate's (Ref sheet x2), Faofao's, and Christmas YCHs - All other commissions are right behind those and some of them sketched just in need of time to line and finish. And I thank you for your patience with me. I will try to get updates to you soon.. I really need to get some consistency with this anyhow.

It's been a very busy and fast month, I can't believe how quickly this month has flown by. Commissions have been slow but I the plus side I have finished two of the long termed ones. I also will list high priority commissions below so you all know where I'm at on this. Bills have been stressful and my husband is still jobless - and not for lack of trying - just no one will hire him right now. And that's hard to deal with. Our dryer doesn't work (hasn't since november or something) and we need to fix so much stuff.. gah, and water and internet bill is fine - the electric has been killing me. I'll be opening for only a few commissions on the 2nd - just enough to pay for the Water and Internet while I try to tackle this list of commissions. I know it looks bad doing it that way - and I apologize. But I'd rather owe a commission or two extra than to not have running water or internet to contact you all with.
As for commissions - I am working. And I intend to get them all done as quickly as I can. High priority commissions are as follows: Copper_soul-fate's (Ref sheet x2), Faofao's, and Christmas YCHs - All other commissions are right behind those and some of them sketched just in need of time to line and finish. And I thank you for your patience with me. I will try to get updates to you soon.. I really need to get some consistency with this anyhow.

Update on Truck (a good one)
Posted 10 years agoSo my truck is back home now;; no towing or any expense - which was so relieving.
When I got up this morning I noticed I had 6 text messages! And I was all 'waaaaht it this?' My neighbors, the one we're buying this trailer off of, had text telling me that they saw my truck stuck and wanted to help me get it home. Explaining they had a 4x4 pick-up and would pull it out onto the road.
So I text back and accepted the help - he came with his son, picked me up and drove down there with a chain in the back. We tried to get it out first by backing it out, but it got stuck again so he hooked a chain to my truck and pulled it right back onto the road.
The funniest part was that the road right around where my truck was, was salted - like SALTED big time this morning. Like five gallon buckets of salt around my truck and on the incline - and salt everywhere else too but buckets and buckets of it right there. So funny!
But I'm so thankful for such wonderful neighbors - they didn't have to do that, but they did and made sure I got back home good with my truck <3 they even called and reminded me there was a good heating and cooling professional in town that could fix my Heat/AC (which is another story) for payments instead of a huge right now bill. c: Which was very sweet of them!
(though no worries, our heat is running because of a friend of the family. The AC doesn't work but we'll call about that during warmer weather)

An eventful night in good ol' tennessee
Posted 10 years agoWell to all of you who know; and those of you who don't; I live in Tennessee, in fact, I live in a very small town in tennessee. And I'm not complaining, I enjoy living here. It's peaceful for the most part, the people are pretty friendly and the open space is really enjoyable to me.
But,
one of the downfalls to living in a small town is that they don't always take the kind of precautions they really should. Today has been rainy and dreary and cold. Yet no trucks went out to salt the roads, nope, so at 11 pm cst I went out with my rear-wheel drive truck (s10) only to get stuck sliding on ice and having to end up pushing my truck into the grass with the help of my husband and best friend. Having to send my husband out to get my best friend from work (prior to the sentence before) in his volkswagon bug (it's front-wheel drive for those of you who don't know) and both of our vehicles are manuals.
So now.. my poor pink s10 is sitting now even 1/3 of a mile away from the house in the grass/ditch because it couldn't make it back a small incline due to the ice. And I'll have to go back and get it before someone calls and gets it towed. (Which shouldn't be a problem I hope because I see vehicles parked on the side of the road and left for a while plenty of times here) but here's to hoping. So just to let you know if I post any ychs in the next few days before I need money for a tow, you'll know why.
If any of you have any suggestions of what I should do please let me know. I shouldn't have left out with my truck when I noticed how badly iced the porch was, but hindsight - you know it's 20/20. *sighs*

Streaming soon! Question for my watchers!! (plz read)
Posted 10 years agoYes, today is a scheduled Streaming day as is tomorrow. The plan is to stream pretty well all day minus a break around 2-ish (probably).
But I have a question for you all! I hop between streaming sites to try to find the most reliable for my internet - but I never asked which one most of you prefer. Recently I've added another to the list, so I'll ask you all which one you prefer for me to stream on.
I have three different sites I use from streaming, the last one listed is the newest one and I haven't tried out a public stream on it yet;; but I really like the layout!
Tigerdile - This stream site has a number limit; but the streaming is good and I really enjoyed using it. However it costs money to use, which I just don't have at the moment.
Furstre.am - I actually enjoy the accessibility and the easy-to use feel of this one. And it's free (at least for what I need it for)
Picarto - This is one I've seen other people use and never gave a shot until recently. I really like the layout, and it seems good for what I need it. You don't have to pay to use, but if you choose to it's also affordable. So that's a good thing (again I just don't have the money for it at the moment).
So tell me guys, which one you all prefer. I don't use Ustream or Livestream because they're too heavy for my computer (and expensive in comparison). Alright, so I know about how much everything costs for our bills at current stand point;;
Currently we're doing a "PayMyWay" account for our electric bill because we live in a trailer and it's easier to manage that way. I just closed down commissions having gotten enough to cover the Phone/Internet + Water bill, which was $76 + $26-$28 usd, coming to a total of $104 roughly.
Well my electric bill account is supposed to message me when our balance gets to be $30 or less;
It didn't;; Not for several days, I'm guessing due to the new years (holidays), but what the crap.
I get a message via my e-mail saying "Oh hey, yeah btw your balance is at $18 usd. Just thought you should know you have 3 days to pay or we cut off your power" Basically.
So although I got a little extra than I had initially planned on (via commission money) it's not a whole lot extra. Which sort of sucks because I know I'm going to have to open for another slot or two just to get enough money to pay the stupid electric bill. Gaaaaah; I swear; Guys - any of you who are still kids (under 18) and aren't paying bills - ENJOY IT. Being an adult, 'making your own way' suuuuuucks. You want to stay a kid; stay young; I did - I knew when I got out of the house, got a job and moved into my own place I'd be paying my dues - but dang it; I never wanted to. Pfft.
Yup.. so I'm a little upset if you can't tell. I swear.. what the heck. Yeaaah..
So I'm going to assess what I'll do for the next several hours and get back to you guys on whether or not I'll take on a couple more commissions just so I can pay the other bill (I thought I wouldn't need to pay for another week *sighs*)

Posted 11 years agoAlright so I've done some rearranging and I will likely be tossing out a few of the slots to just do streaming which will allow for more time to process and finish backlog art as well which is a win win for me and you as well. Winter Wonderland is claimed, though as a gift rather than a commission it will be moved so I can spend more time finishing it. As for any of the remaining slots on the ones I won't be tossing out, you're welcome to comment or try for.

A few friends relaxing in front of a fire drinking hot cocoa and roasting chestnuts and marshmallows.

a couple walking through a beautiful winter scene, snow and evergreens everywhere.
-Claimed- (however will be moved pending time, pending to be moved to after "kissing under the mistletoe")
6. Frosty the Snowman (3 - 8 characters - $15 per slot)
this is for younger furs that are gathered around Frosty, having just finished building him, probably singing around him. 3 slots pending payment; Rest is claimed
7. Kissing Under the Mistletoe (2 - 5 characters - $40 for the couple total; $10 per the extra background characters)
the main focus of this will be a couple kissing under the mistletoe, with up to three characters watching them in the background. - Claimed.
12. White Christmas (2 - 5 characters - $20 per slot if only 2 characters; $15 per slot if more than 2 characters)
this is the last slot which will be posted on the 24th of December and will consist of a minimum of two characters who are celebrating the christmas snow. Either they will be running outside or watching the snow out the window from inside.

An indoor scene of a lady who is awaiting santa with a long list of gifts she desires, stockings with only her name on them above the fire and expensive decorations on her tree. Dressed in a "sexy santa" outfit.
9. Baby, It's Cold Outside (2 characters - $50 for the couple total - male/female only) (I will likely auction this one if I get time to do it.)
A couple or not really, either way there is a fella coming on to a girl who's been at his home (drinking, etc) and basically trying to persuade her not to leave.
10. All I Want for Christmas is You (2 characters - $50 for the couple total) (may or may not do this one)
this I imagine to be a sort of home-coming image of someone who's coming home to their sweetie. Who runs out to meet them in a hug.
11. I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus (3 - 4 characters - $15 per slot) (Likely won't be doing this one.)
this is from one to two kids perspective as they watch their mother kiss "Santa" who is actually their father.

7. Kissing Under the Mistletoe (2 - 5 characters - $40 for the couple total; $10 per the extra background characters)
the main focus of this will be a couple kissing under the mistletoe, with up to three characters watching them in the background. - Claimed.
12. White Christmas (2 - 5 characters - $20 per slot if only 2 characters; $15 per slot if more than 2 characters)
this is the last slot which will be posted on the 24th of December and will consist of a minimum of two characters who are celebrating the christmas snow. Either they will be running outside or watching the snow out the window from inside.

A couple or not really, either way there is a fella coming on to a girl who's been at his home (drinking, etc) and basically trying to persuade her not to leave.
10. All I Want for Christmas is You (2 characters - $50 for the couple total) (may or may not do this one)
this I imagine to be a sort of home-coming image of someone who's coming home to their sweetie. Who runs out to meet them in a hug.
11. I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus (3 - 4 characters - $15 per slot) (Likely won't be doing this one.)
this is from one to two kids perspective as they watch their mother kiss "Santa" who is actually their father.

12 Days of Christmas - December Commissions (Open -Plz Read)
Posted 11 years agoAlright, so any of you who recall last year I did 25 Days of Christmas, and that was an experience though a very difficult one and I ended up with 3-4 of them being late! So this yeah I'll be doing 12 Days of Christmas instead, all of these are "song" themed, and no not to the actually 12 days of christmas song because it's annoying lol.
Basically I've selected some pretty well known songs to use for the themes and I will have 2 days per each commission slot to finish it. Which should work out well I think. Each slot will have an explanation of the basic idea and I'm hoping to get some sketches up for them as well, as well as a number of allowable characters. Prices vary for each slot, but I tried to make them as affordable as I can as I still need to make enough money for Christmas this year. c:
Rules! (because we need them)
-any species, any genders-
-dragons are allowed if wings can be either removed or folded back for the image if needed. c:
-All images have pre-determined ideas so read them careful and yes all are clean. PG for the most part.
-All images come with backgrounds I'll be making for them, and basically for free with the prices in mind.
-And all images are soft shaded.
-And all payments much be made by or before Dec. 10th. (First 5 slots must be paid before then.)

this is a more simple image with a single character looking a bit sad. Probably staring towards the sky, as it hasn't snowed yet and no decorations are up yet.
2. It's Beginning to Look a lot like Christmas (2 - 6 characters - $15 per character)
this will have a character walking down a city street, looking at everyone passing who is buying gifts, hanging decorations, etc.
3. Let It Snow (1 - 4 characters - $20 for 1/$15 per each if more than 1)
An outdoor scene with one or more characters frolicking in the snow.
