So, yeah, My Little Pony
Posted 14 years agoI watched the two-part pilot, and what do ya know, I liked it.
The first part was boring, but more likely because it was entirely a "meet the characters" thing. The second episode was where it really began to shine. The thing that really put it into the "like" zone for me was the whole "the power of the elements of whatever-they-were-called was within you all the whole time because it comes from your positive character traits" thing in the end because it was exactly the same thing that happened at the end of Digimon Adventure.
Whoops spoilers.
So anyways, I'm gonna go on and watch the rest now, but first here's a list of things I'd like to see in future episodes, in no particular order. Please don't spoil any of these for me, I want to watch the show and see which ones come true.
[ ] An expansion on the dragon race.
[ ] Other races besides ponies becoming important.
[ ] Male ponies.
[ ] Magitek.
[ ] Fluttershy-centric episode.
[ ] Rainbow Dash-centric episode.
[ ] Apple Jack being killed off or otherwise written out.
[ ] Death of any character, no matter how minor.
[ ] More explanation of the magic system used.
[ ] Rainbow Dash's voice being changed.
[ ] A full Hero's Journey
[ ] Color-coding
[ ] Unicorn horns on creatures that don't typically have unicorn horns. (Goddamnit, Gabumon. (<3))
[ ] A recurring villan.
[ ] A myth arc.
[ ] A plot that doesn't make much sense in the setting until the very last minute.
[ ] Writing depicted on-screen. (In a children's show? Yeah right!)
[ ] Any character (except Apple Jack) shown bathing, no matter how innocent the scene is.

It's time to fight! Fight for readable text colors! Fight to fix the CSS bug messing up links in profile descriptions!

[NaGaDeMo] Colors // Power outage: Day IV
Posted 14 years agoI've decided to use one of these windows of Internet access to release my NaGaDeMo game. You might not be able to play it because I didn't have much time to test it across browsers. Try using Google Chrome if it doesn't work.

Not much more to report on the outage front. Found a McDonalds that was open but it was so rushed that it filled up a next-door medical office building's parking lot, so we just went by. :|

Posted 14 years agoSo, the newspaper has an estimate of when full power will be restored: Monday.
Still, things are constantly getting better here. As I said last night, the mobile data networks came back so I can be online more.
This morning, not only was Target open and selling ice, but there was a Dick's Sporting Goods open as well so we got a camp shower and I was able to clean myself off again... (Still, I hope I don't have to use it again until the power returns. ^^;)
There was also a Domino's Pizza open, so we got some pizza for lunch.
We finally ran out of cookable meat (the rest spoiled) but as long as the stores are open, we've sitlll got plenty of food. Target was even restocking perishables today! ^^
So yeah, I'm really hopeful everything will be alright soon. :3

i am typing this journal with my phone so that's why it's typed oddly
I just got phone data back tonight and don't know how long it will last so i wikk post this quickly and do a more detailed journal tomorrow via car generator internet

Power outage part 2
Posted 14 years agoYeah, on the car inverter again. The battery nearly died (we jumpstarted it) so now it's idling on the driveway to charge the battery and serve as a makeshift generator.
From the radio news, it seems that the hospitals and water treatment plants are now back on the grid, and that homes will start getting power from the southwest to the northeast. Hopefully we'll get power back in a day or two.
Our local Target was open today so we went there and got a bunch of food and drinks that don't need refrigeration, so now we won't have to live off crackers and dry cereal.

Posted 14 years agoA tornado hit a major power line for the TVA and knocked out power for all of Alabama.
There's lots of destruction in the area, but I'm safe and sound at least. :/
Gonna be a few more days until power comes back... at least I found out that I can still get onto the Internet if I hook the modem into a car inverter and power it off the car battery-- gotta conserve power though so I won't be on much.
Also, since the cell phone networks were damaged, I'll likely not be responding to text messages.
I'll be back on as soon as I can, but it could be as late as a week.

Posted 14 years agoToday we celebrate Jesus coming back from the dead as a zombie. Back in biblical times, they hadn't invented shotguns yet, so he wasn't shot on sight. Fortunately, he didn't go after anyone's brains and just preached some more before he ascended to a higher plane of existance (due to his actor wanting to leave the show).
And then somehow rabbits started laying eggs, but instead of rabbit fetuses, they contained chocolate and jellybeans, which don't really taste that well together in my opinion.

2. The oven is fixed now (after being damaged in the power surge last week) so I was able to heat up some frozen chicken.
3. While writing this, I accidently Ctrl+Shift+W'd instead of Ctrl+W'd and closed the whole window. :X
4. I've already beaten Portal 2 twice.
5. Right now I'm in my bedroom.
6. I've preregistered for RCFM this year already.
7. I need to keep working on my NaGaDeMo game because currently you can't save progress and attempting to play the whole thing in one sitting gives you carpal tunnel syndrome.
8. I was thinking about trying to sow a pair of ears.

Imagine The Santa Clause with the worst coming of age story cliches possible. So it's pretty much a worse version of The Santa Clause 2.
I highly doubt this is from the same writers as Despicable Me (engrossing characters, witty humor, and a clichéd plot that actually works) and is just the same studio because:
* The characters were completely unrelateable. EB's whiny, the bunny played by House is a jackass, and that human kid's a whiny jackass.
* The humor doesn't pass for funny at all. It's just that dumb kind of pseudo-humor that you see in all kids' films. (Note: Kids' films by definition can't be enjoyed by adults because they are written in a way that requires an IQ of 8 to enjoy. A film that is kid friendly but still enjoyable to anyone more intelligent then a dust mite is a family film.)
* "Cliched plot that works?" Well, "works" is definitely a no-go and I don't know if The Santa Clause's plot is "cliched" yet, so the only part left is "plot that". It's definitely a plot that, though.
Guys, character development is good and all, and making the audience relate with a formerly unrelateable character is good character development. However, a protagonist is supposed to be relatable to from the start of the story (although they don't have to be by the end!) and if your protagonist is unlikeable within five minutes of their first appearance, that's not a character flaw, that's bad storytelling.
In conclusion, on a scale of -1 to 1, I give Hop a score of -1. I definitely recommend avoiding this movie.

It's steel/phsysic which means it resists more types then it takes normal damage from. It's super effective only to Ground- whoops no it's got Levitate, Ground actually can't touch it- and Fire. Posted 14 years agoFirst off, let me just apologize if I'm missing a lot of stuff because I'll only remember some basic things.
== FRIDAY ==
So yeah, arrived a few blocks down at the Hilton on Friday night. Was way too tired to do anything so I just went to bed.
== SATURDAY ==
Showed up at the con propmtly as registration was opening. Nothing else was open yet so I just wandered around and chatted with some furs a bit.
scootersquirrel noticed me and we talked for a bit and I met his mate 
white-paw. After a while though they went to get breakfast but I stayed behind since I had already ate back at my hotel. Sadly, though I didn't get to see him again for the rest of the con. Oh well.
Wandered through the dealer's den a bit. Decided to just go ahead and buy a tail. Got a nice grey/white canine one for my alt fursona that I'm still working on. I wore that most of the day, but since I had to pin it to my pants (I hadn't packed any pants that needed a belt), it was an awkward attachment and the pins gave out near the end of the day.
Don't remember much else throughout the bulk of the day. I remember I played a lot of tabletop games (yay tabletop games!) and attended a few panels.
I returned to my hotel that afternoon to charge my phone, and got a personal pizza from the Starbucks in the lobby for a quick dinner.
That night I ran into another MSPA fan,
andrewneo by chance when he recognized my lucky shirt. We talked for a bit to pass some time.
I went to the gaming room and joined a game of Fluxx (I think) and met
Inusaito when he noticed we both had the same phone. We talked for a while and then went to that Mathew Ebel concert, but I didn't really like the music, so I just left. :/
I went upstairs to just hang out near the panel rooms. I was waiting for the Furoticon tournament to start, even though I wouldn't be playing in the tournament itself and would just be playing random games with people. I started one game but had to leave halfway through because of the 2 show about to start.
2 was, of course, hilarious. Not much more to say on that front.
I returned to the Furoticon panel after 2's show was over; the tournament ended, but I found another fur who was just looking to play for fun. We played a game and I won only because he got Furo's equivilant of mana screwed.
Anyways, it was already around 11:30 that night so I went back to the hotel to sleep.
== SUNDAY ==
Arrived early again. Met :MissBunnyBoo: while waiting around and talked with her for a bit.
Not much eventful things I remember on Sunday though. Did some gaming and watched the first half of the fursuit games, but then had to leave the con so I can get home at a reasonable time. :/
Oh well, I had fun at the con and would do it again. Next year, I'm probably going to arrange to stay the entire duration of the con. ^^
It was nice meeting everyone I met there, and if you were there and wanted to meet me sorry we couldn't find each other.

I was expecting some sort of awesome cat thing, but what did I get in the end? A female version of Angemon called Angewomon. Yeah, subtle.
Don't get me wrong, Angemon was one of the most epic Digimon belonging to the seven original kids. He didn't make his first apperence until the shit had really hit the fan in ep. 13, and from then on until the rest of the kids got Ultimates, he didn't show up again unless something rather epic was going on.
The other point I didn't realize fully until I rewatched last year was that Gatomon didn't digivolve into a Champion, but an Ultimate. At first I assumed that was because she didn't have a Champion form, and that her digivolution line went Nyaromon -> Salamon -> Gatomon -> n/a -> Angewomon. But then I went onto Digimon Wiki and did some research. Gatomon is apperently a Champion-level digimon, and her real Fresh form is YukimiBotamon, a white-colored version of Botamon.
This is made kind of obvious though to those familiar to all the neuances of digivolution sequences. Episode 40 of Adventure is the only one in which Salamon appears outside a flashback, and thus has the only time Salamon is shown digivolving.

And if the rule for Patamon's digivolutions (that they're always one level stronger then their actual level) applies to armor digivolutions, would that make her equal to power with Pegasusmon?
I went back to research this, and found out that this has to do with her tail ring that she lost in a fight with Unimon in the first episode of Adventure 02. This apperently makes her equivilant to a rookie, which lets her armor digivolve like the others.
But this seems to open up a new question, mainly that if that's true, why can she still DNA digivolve when all the other digimon shown need to be at Champion levels in order to?
