So, Art Fight. I was on a pretty great pace for the first half of the month and then I caught a pretty bad illness that took me out of commission lol. (I'm thankfully mostly recovered by now.)

I made ten attacks this year and received four. Uploading my art to FA soon™.

I played with some light animation on two attacks and had some fun with that so perhaps more animated art in the future from me.

Now that things are over, I'm going to try to get back to my daily sketches over on Telegram at https://t.me/MiffyArt.

Overall, I had a fun time, if only when I wasn't stuck in bed feeling sick lol.

I'm thinking about offering commissions. I don't know how much interest there would be.

It would probably be limited to one or two, done in my standard style ( https://www.furaffinity.net/gallery.....ffTheFox-style ). I'm thinking of $15 per character or to add a background.

Despite worsening worldstate, I'm mildly hopeful for 2025. Why? Because good things tend to happen to me in off numbered years. Becoming a furry, meeting my eventual wife, moving to Georgia, going back to school, getting my current job, and even getting to fly a plane in real life have all happened in odd years. I'm holding out hope for something cool this year too...

Let's say there's this person who likes Pokémon. They collect Pokémon merch and plushies and draw the occasional bit of Pokémon fanart.

However, they get turned off by the anime, they think the games are boring, and despite collecting some cards, they have no idea how to play or desire to learn. They can only actually recognize a small handful of Pokémon off the top of their head.

Are they still valid as Pokémon fans? Should they be ashamed of liking it when other people will call them out as a poser?

One of the few holidays celebrated by the literati.

My concerns aren't even over the babyfur stuff, but instead the idea of banning all minors (including teens) in all mature rated content, even stuff that's not remotely sexual.

I'm not even sure if I can leave Impact up because of the use of mild violence and swearing in a story with a 16 year old protagonist with no sexual elements whatsoever.

Let's clear the air: I still don't know when or if Impact is coming back.

When the mood strikes, I've been working on part 2. It's completely sketched out and many panels are in various states of completion.

I first conceptualized Impact back in mid 2020. I know what the story is from beginning to end. There is a word document I have that spells out everything that's going to happen in the remaining twelve (!) parts. I think it's a good story and it's really helped me grow as a person, but then again what do I know? 🙃

I started creating Impact as a realized comic in 2022. My original idea was an illustrated story, but as I began sketching illustrations, I just kept going and going until I eventually had the whole story illustrated. I turned part of the story into a test page for the comic, and it worked. I realized I could do this, and eventually out came part 1 in the winter of 2022.

Why did I stop? Well initially I wanted to take a short break while I finished up sketching part 2 and got the first handful of pages completed buffered up. The issue was something else that happened in my life in early 2023.

That winter, I was fortunate enough to get an opportunity to go back to college. I had never gotten far when I was the proper age for it due to a combination of bouncing between majors and not doing well in them, difficulty with the classes, and my own immaturity at the time.

I thought I wouldn't be able to go back since I work a full time job, but now I'm doing classes part time while working full time, and that's where all my free time is going that I'd otherwise have used on the comic or whatever other project. And believe me, I have many other projects.

So that's where I am today. I'm making good progress with my classes and I've finally found something that I both want to do, have an aptitude for, and doesn't involve anything physical. I also changed jobs last summer and my new job, while less demanding than the previous one, still takes up a large chunk of my life and still leaves me exhausted.

In other words, I have no idea when I'll be able to put more time into Impact. I've considered other options such as returning to the illustrated story concept, seeing if I can work out an even easier to produce art style, trying to find another artist to draw, or even just throwing my hands up and releasing all my notes, concept sketches and unfinished pages to the public.

I'm really proud of myself for finishing at least a little standalone part of it, but I really wish I could share the rest of Rania's journey with, at the very least, the two people who showed interest. (You know who you are.) But I also feel like finishing my bachelor's degree would be a more desirable outcome to work towards.

So, that's that. I'm just in a holding pattern for now until I can find more time/energy/motivation to work on it. Thanks for reading.

Well, that was a fun ArtFight!

I created 11 drawings (7 MiffTheFox style, 4 rough color), which beats out my record of 9 from last year in terms of numbers. I think I put more effort on average into the drawings from last year since they were all fully finished, so I guess it averages all out to the same amount of overall work. Nevertheless, I had fun.

My AF attacks will be going up here on my FA soon enough (although they're already on my Telegram channel and of course ArtFight itself. My defenses will be going up on  miffpengi eventually (although I think I have more art I got before ArtFight that needs to go up on that account as well).

What are the rules on adult-proportioned characters who are mentally children?

Specifically I'm thinking about Weregarurumon (based on his appearance in Digimon Adventure) where he's only a little more mature than his base Gabumon form, the main digimon in that series having slightly lower intelegence than the explictly middle-school-aged main human characters.

Weregarurumon is one of the iconic furry bait characters (860 hits on e621 and over 4700 on FA!) and I don't know if they'll have to take down all the weregarurumon porn or not.

Fur Affinity is one of the last sites of its kind and has done a fucky again. I can't wait to see more artists I love move to Twitter where their art is buried in a sea of memes and politics within a week.

Anyways, since everyone is leaving, let's go over this again.
