2K7 In Retrospect
Posted 18 years agoWell, the end of the year is upon us and 2K8 is just around the corner. So it's time for my annual Retrospect post.
The beginning of the year started off pretty much on a good note. I actually achieved two of my goals for the year, one of which was to get some wheels for myself. The Crimson Vixen has been good to me for the 10 months that I've had her, despite the two shops that almost ended our bond over the summer. The second goal of mine was to get into school, which I achieved between spring and summer. And who would've thought that I'd finish my very first semester with all As? That was something I was very proud of.
The middle of the year was when things started to get challenging. My truck got disabled in the early summer and and things at work started to get very hairy. I also started into my little online dating thing, and got some rather undesirable results. Not exactly the way I wanted my summer to go, but I managed to get through it with enough stride.
The end of the year has to be the most difficult part. I had just gotten my truck back and I was driving her again, going to school and working at the same time. I think the end of September when my grandfather died was when it all went downhill. School was going really well. Surprisingly, I was so into the classes and I was doing very well in them. But my work situation just kept getting worse and worse. Usually around the holidays is when things get really rough, but the management at Target just didn't want to make things any easier. That's what happens when you put inexperienced managers in charge (both ETLs on the job had less than one year at the store...that tells you something, doesn't it). And as we all know, just a few days ago, my job screws me out of my job and now I'm at the end of my rope searching for another one. The last few days haven't been easy for me, but at least I'm still hanging in there and doing my best at finding a new line of work.
As for what 2K8 holds for me, I don't know what to expect. I'm not going to make any New Years Resolutions because it would be like making a promise I might not be able to keep. I only hope that I find work real soon because I can't stand that I can't support myself. As for all my plans that I had for 2K8, I can pretty much put them on hold because I have to establish myself all over again, and that's going to take me a whole nother year to do so. But one thing is for sure. I manged to keep one job for over a year so far, and I plan on doing it again, only this time, I won't make the same mistake I did with Target. That's one thing I can promise to myself. But all other things considered, it'll be a while before I can get myself established again, and I'll probably have to put my apartment on hold until 2K9, but I'll save that for next year's retrospect.
As for my plans for tonight, I just dropped my parents off at my uncle's and I have the house to myself. I don't plan on doing anything except just waiting until midnight comes around. I'm not that excited about 2K8 to say the least.

Christmas = Just Another Day
Posted 18 years agoThe title of the journal says it all. I know for most of you guys, this is one of the most joyous days of the year because you all get to be with loved ones and such. But for me, today is just Tuesday. I feel like I have no loved ones to celebrate this day with. And don't say my parents because I'm sure most of you know the history between me and my parents, so needless to say I don't that too much love for them. I do know that I have all of you here, and it's just about enough for me every year, so I guess I can be content. Still, I wish I had someone special to celebrate with.
So, so far for Christmas, I got $50 from my dad and a box of chocolates from dad and Pat (I don't expect much from them, but I am surprised I didn't get any clothes this year like I do every year). In return, I got each of them movies. My dad got The Kingdom and Pat got Tyler Perry's Daddy's Little Girl. And all I did this morning was my little Christmas tradition which was watch the Walt Disney Very Merry Christmas Parade, something I watch every year no matter what. The rest of today so far was me playing near endless hours of Yoshi's Island DS on my DS. More than likely, I'm going to end up sleeping the rest of the day away. I don't think anything else is going on.
As far as my feelings from a few days ago (and thank you guys for all the comments), I'm still feeling very bitter from the situation, but I'm doing my best not to let it get to me. My DS is being of a big help in keeping me calm because I have some new things to play instead of my same old library of PS2 and GameCube games. Still, it puts a huge damper on future plans I had. Now I have to start over from scratch, and have to give myself more and more time to make my plans happen. I can already see that 2K8 is going to be a difficult year, but now I'm just going to have to prepare for the worst. At this point it's about the best I can do right now. I think I'll save the rest for my end of the year "2K7 In Retrospect" post. Catch you guys later. Have a great rest of the day.

Good-bye Target
Posted 18 years agoAnd in an instant, part of my world has come crashing down. I no longer have a job at Target anymore. Because of an incident that happened last night (involving Amanda of course), I said something I shouldn't have, somebody heard it and reported it, and the rest is history. I don't want to go into detail because it's making me too upset to do so. But I knew it! I knew that fucker was going to cost me my job at some point! I couldn't get off the Flow Team fast enough, and now, I'm sitting here, back home, minus a means of income.
So what am I supposed to do now, huh?
I guess the only thing to do now is to start searching for another means of employment. It looks like retail is my only skill I have so far, so I have no choice but to do that (I will go to Wal-Mart if I have to). I don't know of anything else there is to do. But I do know I'm never going back to Target...ever! I'm not dealing with them, anymore.
I guess I'll have to tell my parents tomorrow. I hope they didn't get me anything for Christmas this year. If they did, I'm going to tell them to take it back because I don't want it. In fact as of now, I don't want anything to do with Christmas this year. NOTHING!!! The only thing I want is a new means of employment. I want to be making money. I want to work. • What is the name of your fursona?
Meta Star Foxx
• Where did the name of your fursona come from?
Here's the story on that. At first, my fursona used to be called Foxx McCloud, but it was too close to Nintendo's Fox McCloud that it just wouldn't work for him. Then at one point, I stated calling myself "the Meta Foxx" and for some reason, the word Meta just stuck out in my mind, so I chose that to be my fursona's new first name, added the S for Star, and then kept Foxx as my last name. Most people call me/him Foxx, but that's alright, and I'll explain that later.
• What species is your fursona and why did you choose that species?
Grey Fox. A fox because they are my favorite animal in the world. Solitary, but friendly.
• What color is your fursona and why? Hair/fur/eyes/etc
Meta's a grey fox because as I've noticed, red foxes are way too common in the furry fandom, and I wanted Met to stand out just a little. I like to be different. Meta has dreadlocks just like me. His eyes are dark brown, the same as mine, also.
• What is your fursona's personality and how does this compare to your RL?
Meta is more or less a reflection of myself, though the two of us do differ in some ways.
• What is one item your fursona owns that is significant to you in RL?
Though it's not shown in the pics that most do for me, there's a firewheel pendent that Meta wears that's just like mine. It's kind of become my symbol. Anyone who watches my LiveJournal might have noticed that symbol. It's currently my default icon.
• What is one thing you think you would say to your fursona if you could meet?
It'd be like looking in the mirror, honestly.
• What is one thing your fursona would say to you if you could meet?
"Fox on, my master!"
• How has your fursona changed over the years?
He hasn't much changed over the years. The only thing is I've added a new storyline behind him, that being of his Air Force past and him now being a freelance mercenary and bounty hunter (not in it for the money, but in it to help people in need).

Ten years, I think. Only last year when my friend, Milady JC over on DeviantArt, first drew him was when he started to get some exposure.
• Would you like to be more like your fursona?
We are identical, so...there ya go.

1. When it comes to food, I'll eat just about anything. Only a couple of things I won't tolerate, but I'm very tolerable for anything.
2. When I was in elementary school, I never got along with anyone and was like the natural born enemy of the school. Come middle school, I developed myself into a better person, more like the person I am now.
3. I'm about the only black person who dislikes Rap/Hip-Hop, R&B, and Pop music completely. Growing up, I hated music completely except for anything by Michael Jackson. The summer of my 8th Grade year, I started listening to Rock music and got hooked on it, then my Freshman year of high school, I started listening to Electronica music. And this year, I started listening to New Age music.
4. I started watching wrestling when I was about 8 or 9 years old. The first match I ever watched was Bret Hart vs. Shawn Michaels in a Ladder Match for the Intercontinental Championship. That got me excited about the sport. Today I watch all the WWE shows (Raw, ECW, and SmackDown!) and TNA Wrestling (my preferred show at the moment).
5. When I was a teen, I rode my bike religiously. I often rode to high school. One day I nearly lost it when someone was able to undo my chain, but I got it back. Other times I would race the school bus to my bus stop, and I usually won.
6. The first time I got into Star Wars was when they re-released the original trilogy into theaters. I got to see Episodes IV and VI, and skipped out on V. Of the prequel trilogy, I only got to see II, skipping out on I and III. Eventually I got to see all six movies on HBO and Cinemax this year since they've been playing on both channels. I'm not bothered by the fact that Eps I and II were not all that good. I just follow the storyline.
7. I'm the only one of my family that likes cats. My dad, my (real) mom, nor my brother liked cats at all, but I've always loved them. I had the chance to live with a few for a year, and that's how I come to know them better now. When I get my own apartment, I'm going to own a cat.
8. I hate cars. I've always hated cars because they ride too low to the ground. I've always been interested in big vehicles, like big trucks and vans, and tractor-trailers. It's one of the reasons I've wanted to be a truck driver, which I eventually got the chance to do. I hope to drive big vehicles again.

1.- When I was a truck driver, I was sped by three times by this one guy in Oklahoma, with the cops pulling him over those three times (the third being his arrest).
2.- One of my "recipes" happens to be fried bologna glazed with maple syrup. I forgot when I came up with this one.
3.- I don't like cars. I've always been a truck person, and have very seldom driven a car...and I own a truck
4.- I hate tomatoes, but I love pizza sauce and ketchup.

1. Do you like animals?
Love animals, especially dogs and cats. Not too fund of insects though.
2. Have you ever met an online friend in person?
Only one. No one else wants to meet me.
3.Are you athletic?
Somewhat, but not fully. I should change that though.
4. Are you: thin, fat, athletically built etc:
I just have a belly that sticks out from time to time, but other than that, I'm pretty much normal weight.
5. How much do you weigh?
Varies (usually in between 170 and 180...no more, no less)

5'9.5"

8. Girls - are you tomboyish, girly, normal, etc?

I wanna say metro, but I'm not sure.

IRL, just a few...two of them I've followed since elementary school. Online, though, I seem to have a lot...mostly female though. I tend to bond better with females than I do males.

Full blooded African-American (but you can't really tell by my personality or by the way I talk either).

I have no one to talk on the phone with, so I can't answer this one. Nobody wants to talk to me.

Mostly white meat. I try my best to stay away from the red stuff but sometimes partake of it if I have to.

Not really.

Doesn't everyone? As for what I like: Rock (90s Grunge and Alternative being my favorite), Electronica (Trance and Techno being my two faves there), and New Age (my new fave). And before you ask, no, I do not listen to Rap, Hip-Hop, R&B, or Pop, or anything else of that nature (kind of ironic of a black guy to be saying that, isn't it?).

Not really, but I've been trying to learn Bass. I actually have an Ibanez bass that's right next to me.

The Dreaded Three Questions
Posted 19 years agoI'm more or less going to get myself in trouble for this, but, my foxiness is being curious at the moment, so here goes.
"Ask ANY three questions from me, anything on earth, no matter personal or anything, and I'll give you my 100% honest answer. ^^ The catch of it, of course, is that you're supposed to do the same in your journal."
Sorry if I don't get to asking you guys the three questions. I'm terribly shy when it comes to asking (especially if the asker is a female).

Thoughts On the FA Cub-Porn Controversy and Artists Leaving
Posted 19 years agoLemme say first that I'm sorry to see some of you go, and I for one can certainly understand your reasoning. Anyway, if you have an account with DeviantArt or JaxPad, please let me know about it so I can continue to watch you. Now as for my view on the Cub-Porn controversy, I'll go as far as saying, I'm dissapointed that the admins have decided to allow it to the site. I for one myself certinaly do not wish to have my material associated with a site that allows such stupidity as child rape/molestation/degradation/etc. of any kind be it furry or not. I think on that front, I'll do something different. I'll continue to use this account to interact with those that wish to remain here (like commenting, faving, moral support, and things of that nature) but I will be taking down my art and stories within the next few days. I humbly apologize if this upsets some people, but this is how I feel about this site now. So from this point foward, if you wish to see my stuff, go check my DeviantArt and JaxPad accounts.
Once again, my most abject and humble apologizes to those that may be upset that my art and stories will be taken down. I hope on that front that we can continue to be friends, as I consider (almost) everyone I watch and who watches me as friends.

Posted 19 years ago...I'll never forget it. On that day, I was at Ft. Benning, GA training to join the Army Reserve. That morning, my Company were training on the M16-A2 when we were told to report back to the barracks. When we got back, we all noticed the entire post had gone on lockdown. Nobody, not even the Drill Sergeants, knew what was going on. Once we got back to the bay, we were told what had happened to the World Trade Center, and the Pentagon. Needless to say, it freaked the entire Unit. The Drill Sergeants brought out the TV and let us watch the reports on CNN. The sight of it terrified me but it also gave me a sense of pride to want to finish BCT just so I can get the chance to serve my country. Unfortunately, a few days later, I got injured, and because of that, I had to be discharged and sent home At the time, I was disappointed that I wouldn't get the chance to serve in the United States Military. Five years later, though, I'm almost glad that I did get injured, at the height of what's been going on with the war these days. But, I still feel for all of those soldiers fighting overseas, and their families. My heart, thoughts, and prayers go out to everyone who lost someone in the twin towers, the Pentagon, and the war.
