FA Returns and An Update On Me...
Posted 17 years agoYeah, so FA is finally back online, though I can't really say I'm all that thrilled about it. Now, lately all I've been seeing is everyone declaring their undying love for FA being back and how much they really miss this place, and how much they hate DA...or some shit like that! I don't know, I really hate this fucking site! But because some of my good friends will only post here and nowhere else, I have to be here to watch and support them, so now, you know where I stand on the subject of FA being back and all.
Now with that being said, here's what's going on with me since FA's been down. Last month, I left my job at Hertz and I'm now working my new job with the Park Operations Division of the City of Richmond Heights, MO. I work part time, forty hours a week, five days a week, at a rate of $10.50/hr (because I have a CDL, it's a plus for me). So now that I'm making more money than what I used to, I'm hoping to get a place for myself sometime between next month and October, and I'll be working hard to do that, too. On top of that, I'm still going to school. This semester has me taking up General Psychology, College Composition I, and Intermediate Algebra. I've decided to change my major from General Transfer Studies to Graphics Communication with an Animation Option, which will hopefully be of some help when I decide to go for my BA at Webster University in the near future. Other than that, nothing new going on with me. I'm still single at the moment, and I'm really in an anti-relationship mood/mode as of right now (when and if that mood/mode will change I don't know but don't expect it to anytime soon). Don't bother to ask why because I really don't want to get into it.
So that's what's going on with me. Now I have to go clear out my inbox of submissions and journals. Ciao.

Posted 17 years agoSo far, I'm having a great time playing Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII. I just got to the part where Zack meets Aerith for the first time. Right now, though, I'm taking on missions in order to get his stats up higher and maybe level him up a little. This game is a bit weird when it comes to leveling up. There's this thing called a DMW (for Digital Mind Wave) that is always active during combat. In that reel are characters from the game and numbers. At certain points of a battle, the DMW will go into a Modulating Phase when two icons of the same character are aligned in the left and right side of the reel. If by chance you happen to get all three icons of that one character, you are rewarded with a Power Surge, which acts like the Limit Breaks from Final Fantasy VII, only there are different ones for different characters (for example, if you get Angeal in all three, his Limit Break is called Rush Assault and it's almost like Tifa's Beat Rush; if you get Aerith, hers is Healing Wave, and that acts pretty much like Healing Winds in Final Fantasy VII). The numbers give you certain power advantages during battle, like temporarily giving you null cost of MP and AP (Action Points used for dodging and blocking attacks), or giving you an endure status which grants you more defense in battle. During a Modulating Phase, if you get two of the same numbers in any slot (character doesn't matter), one of your Materia will level up, and if you happen to get a 7-7-7, then Zack will level up. Like I said, it's completely random, and only one time have I ever went into a battle and leveled up, then went into another battle right afterwards and leveled up again. I'm still trying to figure out how it really works, but I do enjoy seeing some of the Limit Breaks that I've unlocked so far. I think my favorite so far has to be Sephiroth's Octaslash. That one's bad ass!

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII
Posted 17 years agoSo, last night on my nightly Wal-Mart raids, I managed to snag myself a copy of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII and the strategy guide that goes with it using that $20 gift card I got from work. So far, I've played though the first chapter of the game, and I have to say I'm very impressed by it. The gameplay is different form FFVII, and it might take some time to get used to, but trust me, it's really fun so far. I have a long way to go with this game, so I gotta get back to playing it. If anyone owns a PSP and loves FFVII, GET THIS GAME IF YOU DON'T ALREADY HAVE IT!!!

I found out this morning when one of the managers tracked me down while I was parking a car and she told me that of the three people that were nominated I won Transporter of the Month with a large percent of the vote! School Thoughts
Posted 17 years agoI've been doing some thinking about school. Considering all my options, I think that if I can't get into Webster University like I want to, I'll instead go for an Associates in Communication Arts major at Forest Park CC, and see if there are any other four year colleges or universities I can get into to continue to a bachelors (I'm going to keep animation the prime focus of my major, but I won't leave anything else out or untouched, though). Webster is terribly expensive, so going there might be out of my price range, even though I like the Interactive Digital Media they offer there. I don't know if I can do much with an Associates degree, but I'll definitely keep in mind the possibility of upgrading to a bachelors if there's an institution with the film option.
Over and Done!
Posted 17 years agoWell, finals are over and done with, and so am I for the summer. All I have to do for the fall is register for my classes. Now as far as how I did for this semester, I won't know until the week of the 16th, so I'll get back to everyone on that. My finals weren't that all that hard, though, so I'm fairly confident that I did well. Keep your fingers crossed.

School and Birthday Stuff
Posted 17 years agoDon't you just hate it when you walk into the house and the first thing you see is your parents naked as jaybirds? That's what happened to me when I came back home a few minutes ago, and I swear, that really grinds my gears. Like I want to see my step-mom's lardo ass whenever I come home from school or work (especially when she gets all stupid drunk about it, too). Somebody please get me out of here!
Okay, getting onto more important matters, it's that time of year again for us college folk. Class registration. Right now, I'm in the process of redoing my FAFSA for next school year. I don't know what I'll get for next year, but we'll see what that holds for me. As for the classes, well, I already know two of them are set in stone: ENG:101 - College Composition I and MTH:140 Intermediate Algebra. Class number three is a free-for-all since there's nothing after Oral Communication I. So I have to decide what I want to take up, and I've been debating on what it should be. I'm leaning towards taking my Psychology class next semester to get that out of the way, but the problem is for the time slot I want to take it up in, the class section is a Black emphasis. I'm kind of weary about that because it makes me think that the course is going to be generally one-sided, where as I'm the type of person who likes to look at the entire picture (if anyone has any insight on that, please feel free to enlighten me because I'd like to know all the facts before I walk into this). But since no other adequate time slot is available I have no choice but to go for it. Looking at the 2008 class schedule, taking a history class is out of the question for right now until I finish College Algebra (which hopefully after I get done with that there will be no more math classes that are required). Intro to Mass Communication (which is required for my major) is an option for me, but it would have to fall right after math class, and I'm very weary about taking up four classes for a semester (for fear of burning myself out). If it boils down to it, though, I'll go for it. I just don't want to overkill myself. I think I can make the right decision on what to do though.
I will not take up a summer class. I thought about it, and I decided I'd like to give myself a break from school just to keep my mind fresh. I hope that's understandable.
As for how I'm doing in school so far, I'm doing quite well. In my Communication class, we gave an interesting adult version of Show and Tell, where we had to bring in something and demonstrate it in front of class. I chose to do a demonstration of my PSP and it's many uses. I got a surprising number of questions from my classmates about my PSP because not too many of them knew that it could in fact do more than play games. I really wish I could show off more about it, but I was limited to four minutes so I had to keep it short and sweet. Even my teacher, Ms. Ross, was intrigued by it, which surprised me. In my ridiculously easy English class (the one I've been trying to get out of from the get go), no surprise, but I'm passing with flying colors. Mr. Ripplinger is an okay guy, but he's slow in teaching, and we're using the book that's "required" for the course. No wonder Ms. Ahner (my first teacher from last semester before she left for unexplained reasons) hated that book. It's practically useless. But so far, all we've been mostly doing is writing paragraphs in class, and we've written an essay for our mid-term. Well, scratch that, I've written three essays for that class (and gotten As on all three of them). See, while everyone else in the class is writing paragraphs, I'm writing essays. Why? Because I want to be challenged, and I can't do that by writing a measly ten to fifteen sentence paragraph all the time. I already know I can do it, so why can't I just do it, you know? I have another essay due next Wednesday, so I'm going to work on that over the weekend. As for Math...I'm just going to say I'm surviving and I'm going to leave it at that.
Last thing I wanted to say is this. My birthday is in nine days (that's next Friday). I was going to plan a Six Flags Saturday for the day after, but it looks like it might not happen due to my finances. My expenses this year got a little pricey for my liking, and my job doesn't pay me enough for me to have even the least bit of fun. My car insurance went from $122 to $144 due to a minor accident I got myself into on New Years day, so that will automatically suck my checking account plain dry. I want to do something for my birthday, but I don't know if I'll be able to. Maybe if I find a better paying job than what I'm doing now, I'll see if I can plan something for next month. Right now, it's not an option. I'll think of something, though.

Some Minor Notes To Myself
Posted 17 years agoSo, spring break is a week away for me. And I have absolutely nothing planned. Not that I'm complaining, though. I need the work so I can get my savings account caught up on. It missed a good month of not having any money stored in it. There's a number of things I'm wanting to have and have done, especially on the Vixen. For one, I think she needs a new alternator because her electrical status is getting horrible right about now and I think that either her alternator is bad or there are some bad cables in her system. This paycheck I get come Thursday, I'll have her alternator looked at. Another thing is I need to have her engine belt replaced. It's looking pretty cracked and considering I'm driving on the highway to get to work now, I don't know how much longer it'll hold out. Next Thursday's check will cover that one.
I think once all those issues are resolved, I can start saving for myself again. When I got my tax return, I wanted to use some of it to get my PS3, but that deal fell short because I needed the money to help get the Vixen in better shape, and as far as I'm concerned, she comes first. Besides, the PS3 that I want to get (the 80GB with Motorstorm) is pretty much not available anywhere now, which upsets me because that's the one with backwards compatibility with PS2 and PS1 games. The only one I see in stores is the lame 40GB one with no backwards compatibility. But I hear tale from both GameSpot.com and IGN.com that there's going to be another 80GB bundle with Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriot and the DualShock 3 controller. So at least I know that that particular SKU is not going to be dead for good. I just hope they keep the PS2 software emulator in it because I'm really looking to get rid of my PS2 because it's starting to slowly but surely fail on me as of late. But from the look of both sites, I have until about June to hold on to my PS2. Hopefully it should still be alive by then. And I really think that if Sony wishes to keep even half of their fanbase (including myself) they wouldn't ax the PS2 emulator. Time will tell, though.

I think once all those issues are resolved, I can start saving for myself again. When I got my tax return, I wanted to use some of it to get my PS3, but that deal fell short because I needed the money to help get the Vixen in better shape, and as far as I'm concerned, she comes first. Posted 18 years agoCouple of things. First off, St. Louis is under a Winter Storm Warning, which could mean math class might be canceled tonight. I won't know for sure, but we'll see.
Secondly, I have an interview at Hertz Rent a Car on Friday (weather permitting that is0. It's for a part time position moving cars on and off the lot. Yeah, it's part time, but I'm not complaining. If I'm able to score it, I could be working mornings Monday through Thursday. But, if the weather is good come Friday, we'll see how that goes. Wish me luck, okay?
