It's Here Already...
Posted 12 years agoTis the longest month of the year, and I have to endure the dreaded holidays again. I am so not ready for this, but, hey, they're here, so let's get this over with.
I started looking back into home buying again. Rent got jacked up on me last month so you know what, it's best to start looking again. I doubt anything will come out of it, but we'll see. Really I only want to spend as much as $90K on a house, preferably around $70K to be honest. Keep my monthly payments as low as possible...well, lower than rent, to be honest. We'll see how this goes.
One more con this month in Indianapolis, then I'm done for the year and until Anime St. Louis next year. Only local cons next year as I'm going to try to enter money saving mode (which instead of a California vacation will more than likely go to a house if I'm lucky).
That's it for me. Nap time.

Posted 12 years agoToday is not a good day for me. Today I had to make one of the most difficult decisions of my adult life.
Let me start from the beginning. Sometime last month, Yuna started acting really strange after she got off of a heat cycle. She started acting more agitated than normal around Zero as he was wanting to play with her. I didn't think much of it because she normally not one to wrestle. But a week later she started aggressively and physically swatting at Zero, her growling and hissing sounding more severe. At one point I went to break them up (mainly by chasing after Zero which always does the trick), then her aggression suddenly turns on me. I really don't know what triggered it, but I thought at first it was just her normal behavior and that she'd always get over it after a few hours or so. But the assaults didn't end there. They kept happening. It was at that point I figured something was wrong, so I took her to see a vet for a wellness exam. The vet I took her to didn't find anything physically wrong with her, other than the fact that she hasn't been spayed yet. He recommended that I take her in for spaying as soon as I could, which I was well prepared to do. However, things got worse as time went on. She started to display more and more signs of aggression, even more so towards me. Now it's one thing to be aggressive towards me, but not when it involves her brother. I don't care if I get hurt from it, but I do care if Zero does, and the last attack almost left Zero bleeding. It was at that point that I decided to separate the two of them just to give Yuna a chance to cool down. So on Friday, my day off, I put Yuna in a separate room with her own food, water, and litter box with the intention to reunite the two after some time. Well, the whole time she was in isolation, she never ate or drank anything I gave her. I checked up on her every two hours, and every check up, I would see her hiding in the same corner, hissing and growling at me as I entered, and the food and water levels the exact same as I filled them. Two days later, I decided to let Zero in to see his sister, but she chased him out just as fast and just as aggressively. And still, no food or water touched. The next day I decided to change her food and water to something a bit more fresh to see if she would eat or drink. When I checked up on her again two hours later, she never touched either, and it looked like she didn't even use the litter box either as there was a puddle of urine just next to her. That's when I knew something was wrong and got on the computer researching her symptoms and talking to friends about what might be wrong with her. After a visit to Mike and Michelle's, we learned that she might be suffering from what's known as idiopathic aggression, which as described by The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), is any type of aggression who's cause can't be determined or explained through behavior history or medical exam, and that cats with this type of aggression can attack owners or other pets violently. It also states that these cats are extremely dangerous, and the more I read up on this type of aggression, the more I saw it in Yuna. I immediately called my vet to tell him of the situation, and even HE agreed with me that it was definitely this type of aggression, and that she was definitely a danger to both me and Zero. Her clawing at the both of us could have made either one of us sick. Not to mention her rejecting of food and water was having a devastating effect on her well-being. It was at that moment, my hand was forced. I had no choice…but to put her…to sleep.
I thought long and hard about this. It was not an easy decision to come to. I honestly did not want to see her die in any capacity, but knowing she was so agitated and nearly dying of dehydration and starvation…that was a heavy burden to lay on my heart. So yesterday, with the help of Michelle, my one trusted friend, I made the heart-stopping decision to have her euthanized today.
This morning was really hard for me. I couldn't work right up until lunch and asked Marty if I could leave early (which he understood as I told him earlier). I went to Mike and Michelle's after I took off, and she graciously gave me the money needed to put her down as well as a calming collar for Zero. We talked for a while about what would happen to her, then we went our separate ways. When I returned home this afternoon, I put Yuna in the pet taxi I got for them and had Zero interact with her through there. She struggled the entire time and got confrontational with Zero. As the time drew near, I placed towels over the cage and drove her to the clinic. After waiting fifteen minutes, the vet came in and did the euthanasia. Within seconds…Yuna was gone. I stayed in the room with her for a while, crying over her lifeless body. It was a lot for me to bear. The vet came in and told me that I shouldn't beat myself up over it, and that in his eyes, I made the right decision. I'm glad he was understanding of what I was going through, and I told him that I would bring Zero in if he needed a wellness exam for any reason, and he said he would gladly take Zero.
Speaking of which, my son's a little upset with me right now, now that his sister's gone. It's okay. I expect him to be. They may not have been the best of friends, him and his sister, but I can tell he still loved her. I'm not going to force myself onto him. I'll let him come to me when he's ready, and I know he will be. He's grown a lot more closer to me in the past two years. And one day when we're both ready, I will give him a new playmate. He deserves to have someone with him.
For now, I'm going to take some time to myself. I'm not sure if I want to go to work tomorrow or not. I don't know how long it will take me and Zero to get over this, but Zero is a remarkable cat, and I know we'll be okay. Just keep a thought or prayer out for the two of us.

If you wish for real-life things, make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where folks could get in touch with you. Not a necessity for me.

No Weasyl Invites, Please...
Posted 13 years agoI know some of you here have been very ecstatic over the new furry site Weasyl, but if you please, I would like to humbly request that no one send me an invite to join the site. I have no interest or intentions on joining the site for a few reasons. One, I primarily use DeviantArt (mostly) and FurAffinity to get my art fix, and as I don't draw, request, or commission a lot of fur art, it wouldn't make much sense for me to join with another site for that very reason. Two, I kind of see this as another one of those fur art sites that people get very excited about and then months down the road, they're all back here and sometimes forgetting they even joined the new site they were so hyped about, so I honestly don't see this site going much anywhere even when it does go public. That's just my take on it, though. Take it as you will.
Bottom line is, I don't have any rhyme or reason to be joining Weasyl, so please and thank you, do not send Weasyl invites my way.

Countdown to Moodiness
Posted 13 years agoUgh...October. How I was so NOT looking forward to seeing you. Well, then again, am I ever looking forward to this time of year? This is just the precursor to the one time of the year I truly despise the most...the goddamn holidays! You all know me well enough. You all know how very moody I get around this time with all that goes on. So if you see very moody posts by me in the upcoming months, you all know why.
Nothing new going on with me these days. Still bummed about not being in school drawing, but that'll have to wait until next year. Until then, I'm just working my ass off everyday. It's the only thing I do these days. I maintain a very little social life hanging out with the only few friends that I do have (the only people even worth hanging out with, to be honest). I still have no need for romance or compainionship whatsoever. What can I say? I lead a boring life, but I'm accustomed to it. It suits me just fine.
That's all.

Posted 13 years agoI just got through cleaning out my watchlist and faves. Wow! I never knew how many dead accounts I was watching and how many dead faves I had. I'm also amazed how much of my art tastes have changed over the years I've been here, too. You learn something new from your faves and your watchlist.

Another Semester Down
Posted 13 years agoNipped another semester in the buds, and well, it was a pretty good one for me. I got to learn a few more good tips and tricks in Photoshop, and I learned how internet reviewers (such as the Nostalgia Critic and the Cinema Snob) put together their videos...enough to encourage me to make my own of that caliber (with the help of Adobe Production Suite CS6)! This was one of the fun semesters I've had since I started going down this road!
As of now, I am about sixty-five percent finished with school at 47/72 credit hours. That's a little over half. Though it might seem like I've been in school forever, in five years, I've progressed quite steadily...at my own pace, that is. Just a little more time, and I'll have my AAS in no time, and then I shall see where the next path takes me (hopefully to Vegas to study some more).
Well, that's all I wanted to say. I have a video to finish perfecting (and no matter how it turns out, I'll share it with the world once it's finished). Later!

2. How tall are you?
I am 5'9.5"
3. Natural hair color?
Black.
3. What about eye color?
Dark brown
4. What sexual orientation are you?
A tie between heterosexual and asexual (though leaning slightly more towards asexual)
5. Are you single, taken, or undecided?
Very single and unquestionably happy with that. Though I won't completely rule out relationships in the future (provided someone I had interest in showed some sort of mutual feelings as impossible as that may sound), I can say I'm much more happier being by my onesy.
6. What do you do in your spare time?
Tool around on my computers (I work on two laptops...one a PC the other a MacBook), play video games, watch stuff on Netflix, or if I have the money to, take road trips around my state
7. What's your job?
Currently a city worker across river in Missouri though I'm working on getting a degree in 3D animation on the community college level (also across river).
8. What's one thing you like about yourself?
I guess that I like making others feel better.
9. Alright, now what about something you dislike about yourself?
I guess my looks...my belly, though relatively small, has been a thorn in my side for the longest and I can't seem to get rid of it, though I do try.
10. What's some things your friends noticed about you when they first met you?
I go way beyond the stereotypes that are typically put on my race...I'm well spoken and speak Standard American English as opposed to speaking in ghetto talk or Ebonics...that and my dreadlocks.
11. Of what faith/religion are you(if any at all?)
I'm a well-devoted atheist that doesn't believe in deities whatsoever. I'm probably the least spiritual person one will ever meet, but that's just me.
12. Do you drink?
No. I'm 100% straight edge.
13. Do you smoke?
See above.
14. What are your fears?
Most large insects and that's about it. I don't carry a lot of emotional fears since practically all of them for me have already come to pass.
15. What are your dreams/goals?
Right now I just want to work toward my goal of graduating community college and getting my first of two degrees in 3D animation. I'd like to make a move out west (like say the desert) at some point and get the hell out of the midwest.
16.Ever had any crushes/ex's in the past/present?
Crushes are a touchy subject for me, on both sides. Crushes, for both me and those who have them on me, have a tendency to get me into a lot of deep fucking shit, so to be honest, I try to avoid having crushes altogether. As far as ex's goes, I only have one (which she ended with me five months ago), and really, I want to do my best to keep it that way.
17. Who's your best bud?
He's not a furry, but I can say we've been best buds since elementary school.
18. Alright, you got the cravin' for munchies, what'cha reachin' for?
Whatever's around me that I can reach for. I don't keep a lot of junk food in my place, but I have a fondness for Cheez-its.
19. Favorite drink?
I don't have a favorite to be honest, but I'll try anything as long as it's non-alcoholic.
20. Favorite color?
Black
21. If you had any super power, what would it be?
I'm not big on super powers, but I guess flight so I can actually go out and see stuff.

Of all time, that honor goes to the Fox and the Hound

Anything spicy

25. What do you drive/wish you drove?
I drive a 2010 Hyundai Accent SE and I couldn't be happier with it. Though if I absolutely HAD to choose something I wish I drove, I'd have to say the Hyundai Veloster. That car looks pretty damn sleek!

Butterflies...since I've been a kid, they've creeped me out.

Greed, lust (not all of it, but just some), power hungry people.
30. Most disliked TV show?
I dislike the majority of TV to the point that I rarely watch it anymore. I stick to watching stuff online because at least then I can find something I like.
