teaching art
Posted 17 years agoi miss teaching art its been a little bit since ive last done it
i love the thrill of showing someone something new an seeing them progress. and to see what they are capable of is amazing. some people dont even realize how good they are because they are.. well .. afraid to show what they can do. its not as difficult to change from stick figure to a figure. a simple trick is just start drawing clothes on that stick man or woman. eventually overtimee give definition to that person an soon enough ull have a figure an not just a stick figure.
no i dont have a degree in the field of art just been learning art for over 5 yrs an constantly improving myself everyday as well in art. im no good with my general ed classes i seem to fail them an that's when i focus only on those classes(which usually causes me to fail my other classes too )^^ oh well as an artist we all seek to improve i also seek to improve those around em because i dont want to be in any position where i am standing on another to be seen.
to be honest most of my pics here on FA are scraps an doodles i am actually formally trained int eh fine arts i just enjoy to create cartoons an all because its more fun and i have more freedom with them than with realism.
just letting people know more about me.

sketch books
Posted 17 years agoim glad that i buy so many of them t once otherwise id be going to the shop almost by monthly
its good to pick up one large one and a few of the smaller ones and still have them all big enough to fit in in my backpack ^^ yes i carry at least 3 sketch books were ever i go sometimes more and usually one that can fit into my pocket as well. unfortunately i don't always feel like posting them. i actually produce at least one fully detailed drawing a day and about 10 other smaller sketches that are just references of things ive seen or ideas that popped into my head.
only when i am overwhelmed and over stressed do i not even draw a pic on nay day.
maybe someday ill get used to posting more often. there was a lil wile back a time i wasnt posting at all but that was because my scanner and computer were in two different locations as i moved things about. i am still in personal debate if i want to stay here on FA. its just one of those things i do i always question were i am till i am certain that it the place to be

Posted 17 years agoi am almost certain i could opena buisness and keep it running for4 another 20-30 yrs but i dont know where to start to open one
in the last 6 months ive seen the equivalent to open a graphic design or animation business an have it fully staffed.
in the last 6 months ive seen groups of people capable of great inkwork and others who are specialized themselves in color and many in sketching.
i can track all of them down easily and get them to work together to being what they desire and who they are and yet for some reason i do not know how to start a business.
my comunications skills are one of my biggest weaknesses an wish it wasnt but then id probably lose a skill im strong in like my drawing skills

Robbing Retirement interesting facts
Posted 17 years agoThank you Mr. Gore, for breaking that tie vote with your asshold buddies, by taxing my retirement that I'd paid into since I was 16 years old.
Your Social Security
We all need a little refresher history lesson on what's what and it doesn't matter whether you are Democrat of Republican.
Facts are Facts!!!
Our Social Security
Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the Social
Security (FICA) Program.
He promised:
1.
) That participation in the Program would be
Completely voluntary,
2.
) That the participants would only have to pay
1% of the first $1,400 of their annual
Incomes into the Program,
3.
) That the money the participants elected to put
Into the Program would be deductible from
Their income for tax purposes each year,
4.
) That the money the participants put into the
Independent "Trust Fund" rather than into the
General operating fund, and therefore, would
Only be used to fund the Social Security
Retirement Program, and no other
Government program, and,
5.
) That the annuity payments to the retirees
Would never be taxed as income.
Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are
Now receiving a Social Security check every month --
And then finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of
The money we paid to the Federal government to "put
Away" -- you may be interested in the following:
Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from t he
Independent "Trust Fund" and put it into the
General fund so that Congress could spend it?
A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the democratically
Controlled House and Senate.
Q: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax
Deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding?
A: The Democratic Party.
Q: Which Political Party started taxing Social
Security annuities?
A: The Democratic Party, with Al Gore casting the
"tie-breaking" deciding vote as President of the
Senate, while he was Vice President of the US
Q: Which Political Party decided to start giving
Annuity payments to immigrants?
AND MY FAVORITE:
A: That's right! Jimmy Carter and the Democratic Party.
Immigrants moved into this country, and at age 65,
Began to receive Social Security payments! The
Democratic Party gave these payments to them,
Even though they never paid a dime into it!
Then, after violating the original contract (FICA), the Democrats turn around and tell you that the Republicans want to take your Social Security away!
And the worst part about it is uninformed citizens believe it!
If enough people receive this, maybe a seed of Awareness will be planted and maybe changes will Evolve.
Maybe not, some Democrats are awfully
Sure of what isn't so.
But it's worth a try.
How many people can YOU send this to?
Actions speak louder than bumper stickers.
AND CONGRESS GIVES THEMSELVES 100% RETIREMENT FOR ONLY SERVING ONE TERM!!!
"A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have.
"
-Thomas Jefferson
now that we've got a bit of dirt on the democrats, does anyone got any dirt on the republicans?

sort of teachign now
Posted 17 years agowell its official i am teaching art.
no, i do not have a teaching degree or studio yet but i am getting a lil bit of pay to teach a friend or 2 a few art tips using different type of traditional media.
its funny i stop going to school being i feel im not getting anywhere now im giving lessons to help people. heck i still don't even think im that great. though i am in cartooning right now as my fun in art.
My study till bout a yr or 3 ago was realism and that was most of my life not jus college. i did that because i wanted to make sure i am seeing what really is there.especially being i was told im mostly blind for a large chunk of my life.
i have art books galore on history and tips. some of my own study media are old animated movies. the ones that were hand drawn heck i even study the 3d movies being pose and composition. hey even books of ancient cultures. for examples of sculpture and drawing. photography is even a study for composition.
the question on my mind is really how did i get to the point of teaching art when i said to myself im not getting anywhere. in school

traditional vs digital
Posted 17 years agowell it's time for another one of my rants
this little question is been in my head for a few yrs now i dont speak of traditional art vs digital art but rather what is considered professional?
is a sign done on a computer professional? what if the sign is a porly done sign?how bout if the sign is done by hand? ive taken graphic design in college an my professor said that my work must be digital even though i can produce a high quality graphic sign or logo on paper 10 times faster than it takes to produce it in a program then just upload it into a vector program commonly illustrator. though my digital programs at home are still faster than adobe and older. yes i use more programs but it runs my processor less than adobe software of any kind does. adobe software is good but on most systems it overwhelms the processor and takes to long to finally open. yes some of the graphic software i have is obsolete and the company no longer exists but the stuff they made was ahead of its time. but enough about software some people like the software i don't thats just preference. its the creator behind the work that makes it good.
now to my point of why i am typing this rant. recently at my work my bosses boss said no more hand made signs they dont look professional. he said that because hes talking to all stores not just the one i work at. but when a digitally made sign is just box text with a grey background it is a poor quality sign. now the signs ive done use the same textile as the product the sign is advertising and the companies colors. now isnt that better than traditional box text and grey backgrounds. now if the company gave color printers to is corporate businesses then it would give the sign a little more credibility but still look a little low quality. i probably spent the same tiem making my sign compared to who ever the company hired or has making there sins that they send via email to be printed tarpapered to sent to us via the traditional mail for everything else we receive. heck if i took the 5 minutes in fireworks to make the sign more fancy then i would but i wouldn't get extra pay for it and that sign would probably be used at various different stores not just the one i work at. there is still a lot of signs at the store i work at that are still up because they look better than the ones they want us to use and were made at least a week earlier on my spare time on one day when i was caught up with our daily tasks.
now as i know it a lot recently more than ever signs have been trying to look more traditional and use traditional similarities than look digital signs today don't want to look like signs of the 80's were graphic design was the fancy of Tron. this age is more realistic and classical style than the look of what can i SLAP out with large text. i dont think the company realizes that the signs thy want printed need to be greyscale friendly and look good at that. now everything is grey scale friendly but not everything looks catchy to the eye to have the person want to look at that sign. if you want the data to out there but just ignored these signs are perfect but if you want them to be seen u need more than box text. now I'm not saying make the sign fancy just make it a lil more catchy.
I've always been able to ell quality signs over low quality signs and much more being that my visual problem causes me to see textiles and more as imagery and for some reason a slightly 3D image. yes i know it sounds weird but has made it easier for me to know what is graphically sound. when you see a sign do you look at it and just pass by or do you really read it. most people look and pass by. if the sign is good someone will look at it and go hey look at that or something of that nature. that is what i am trying to point out with all of this. i want someone to do a second take at that sign or to actually look at it.
im not telling digitla artists to stop o traditional artists to give up and go digital im jsut saying if your going to make something just for the heck of it at least make it good enough that people want to see the sign instead of it just being there. yes i have not finished college but i have made fryers for a few companies and peoples parties. they are just local jobs bu8t thats because I'm still not sure on how to set up a website and take online buyers. i may still finish my education in art in college but i know that not everything needs to be digitally done if it is easier to do it traditionally and impose it digitally to something. yes i can take the time to do something digitally it just takes a very short time longer to make than i can drawing it up scanning it adding its color and arranging it to what it should be. heck a simple sign is easy to make digitally i just think they need to be a lil more cathy than plane box text or bold text.
for all you digital artists you are great at what you do and keep it up. i just don't have the visual patience to sit at a screen for so long. heck i cant even stare at a television for a wile without taking time to look at something else.
i guess my true question is what is considered professional?
well thats all for now. i just needed to vent a little.
