Posted 14 years agoOur grandparents say they remember what they were doing on December 7, 1941 when our country was attacked by the Japanese. Two generations later we can say the same thing for September 11, 2001. I can honestly remember every detail of that day when our nation was attacked in a jihad of terror.
I was in 9th grade and it was a school day. My first exposure to what was going on was in my Earth Science class. The teacher had the TV to the news on to get us more cultured to what is going on in the world. It would only be for a few minutes each day. When I got to that class I saw the report on the world trade center but I didn't know what to make of it. At the time it was another report of violence somewhere in the world. One of the other students in the classroom was a jerk and changed the channel to something else and we couldn't get the TV to work again. The rest of the school day went on normally, unsuspecting to what was actually going on. It was when I got home that I heard the news. My mom had the TV on and it was replaying the events of the morning. It was like watching a scene out of a horror movie but this was no fiction. It was real. I have relatives who live in New York, though not the city. I was glad to hear they were safe. 9/11 was a sobering moment for me was well for the rest of the country.
Never forget, but live for the future.

To the 757
Posted 14 years agoI hat to say but I am losing interest in the local fur group, the 757 furs. I have my reasons for it. It was nice making new friends within the group and meeting new people. Unfortunately I truly didn't feel like I was a part of the group that much. With that you won't see me much at the meets very often. This of course doesn't mean you won't see me at all. I do like the smaller hangouts, especially if they are here on the peninsula side. I haven't been to a meet since the bowling meet back in January. Part of the reason was school got in the way and other things came up. This is my farewell to the group but not to the furs that are a part of it.

Closing a book
Posted 14 years agoUgh I don't know what's wrong but I can't seem to close a certain book in my life. I thought there would have been closure when I went to AC, saw him, and there were no interactions between us. I thought I could move on for good after seeing what he has become but I just don't know anymore. I want this negative feeling out for good. I don't need it. Last night he showed up in my dream for some reason. I didn't even think about him before that so why? I really don't know what to do, to finally close this book.
Vegas
Posted 14 years agoStarting Sunday I will be on vacation to Las Vegas for a few days. I am bringing my laptop to get online during the evenings but I can't play any games like TF2 on it. For one my laptop is so old that it is practically obsolete. Anyway I hope to score some money when gambling. Maybe that can pay for my trip to AC. Who knows.
Realization
Posted 14 years agoI had a realization today. When I go to Anthrocon this year, I might run into "him". It's going to be something that I will have to deal with once I am there. Whenever I think of this person I get mixed feelings. He was the first fur I met in real life and the first guy I had a crush on. Despite him acting the way he did to make me have feelings for him, he had no interest in returning those feelings towards me. It left me broken for a while. It didn't help that he went to my school and hung around some of my friends so I couldn't avoid him. In the end it wasn't all that bad. Because of him I was able to meet the person who has now become my mate of more than two years.
I guess I won't be fully able to get over him and may have to confront him at the convention. I wonder if I will bare my teeth at the sight of him. I am not going to reveal who he is. If you know who I am talking about, please keep it between you and me, no one else. I will hope to not let him ruin my convention, directly or indirectly.

Change in fursona
Posted 14 years agoYep, that's right. I am no longer a coyote. I have changed my fursona to that of a furred dragon. Why the change you ask? Well I was originally a dragon but an anime had me feeling more like a coyote. Now I am feeling more like a dragon again. This time I have a definite characteristics that define me. A friend of mine has offered to redraw my character because his art style has significantly improved since then so once he draws it, you can see what I look like now.
My annoying housemate (rant)
Posted 14 years agoToday I had woken up this morning at 5am to the loud sounds of preparing breakfast. My housemate (female) was taking pots and pans out of the cabinet to fix herself a rather interesting breakfast. Mind you she has no common sense what time it was as the rest of us in the apartment were still asleep. I know she doesn't have class that early so why the hell was she up at that hour? was the breakfast for her new little fuckbuddy that isn't her boyfriend? yeah, I said it. She had a new guest over, made dinner for him. and then proceeded to have sex later that evening. I am definitely going to confront her next time I see her and bring up those two items. I don't care if she is from Africa, we have certain customs and ethics here in America.
Anthrocon 2011 part 2

Anthrocon 2011
Posted 14 years agoI am making plans for this years Anthrocon. I'm so excited; this will be my first furcon. I will be reserving a room real soon when I know that everybody in my group is confirmed. I hope that everybody in my group can go. There is a schedule conflict with one of them and I hope that it gets straightened out. Are there any veteran congoers out there that can offer tips on what to do there? This isn't my first con as I have gone to anime cons in the past.
Christmas disaster
Posted 14 years agoWell I am once again the victim of another burglary. This time it is far more serious than a swapping of xboxes. From what I was told, four black males broke down the front door and all four bedroom doors. Their goal was our electronics, i.e. TVs, Xboxes. It was devastating to hear about this when my roommate called me when he arrived at our apartment and saw the damage. I am thankful though that it wasn't all that serious. Before the burglars could take much, our neighbor saw them and upon seeing her, the four burglars dropped what they had and booked it. With that, the only stuff that was taken was my TV and my roommate's laptop. Everything else was recovered by my neighbors and brought back inside.
When my roommate came back to the place he called the police and filed a report with the officer on dispatch. It turned out to be the same officer who handled my earlier incident this year. After the report filing, he left and said that forensics were on their way to assess the damage and look for clues. During then I called property management and emergency maintenance to get the doors replaced and fixed. Forensics came and took many pictures but no dusting for he warned us that dusting could potentially lead to electronics no longer working. It has happened in the past. We declined that offer save for the Xboxes but it wouldn't have done any good due to the surface. Maintenance came over to look at the damage. They couldn't do any repairs yet for nothing is open on Christmas day but they did make a temporary lock to the front door so at least things are a bit safe. Also my neighbors gave my roommate a gun to keep close by in case if anything else happens.
Now you may wonder if we had a security system. We do but it just makes noise. It does not alert the authorities whatsoever. My roommate forgot to set the system when he was gone for the day. If it did go off, it may not have prevented the break-in but it may have deterred them from taking anything. Lesson learned though.
I hope any of your Christmases were not like mine. I hope you all had a merry Christmas with everything all fine. Mine was too until I got that phone call. *sigh*.
Merry Christmas everyone.

Happy Thanksgiving
Posted 15 years agoToday is the day where you spend the entire time in the kitchen with family and friends, cooking up the big meal for dinner. Weather it be turkey or tofu-turkey, may you stuff your faces full. And while you are eating your food, remember what the day is all about: being thankful for what you have. I am thankful for a loving family, good friends, a roof over my head, a loving boyfriend, and my current job. With that, What are all of you thankful for?
Gone clubbing
Posted 15 years agoWell today I went to the infamous local club down here in Norfolk. I finally went to the Wave, and my first time clubbing. A bunch of fur friends were going and I thought why the hell not. After the dance at Nekocon a couple weekends ago, I felt motivated to do something like that again. I mainly went there to hang out with a good friend,
pilot and my mate,
nekopawed. The Wave is certainly an interesting place. I had a good time, if only for a little bit during the time I was there. In the end, I can definitely say that the club scene is not really my thing but I will hang out with friends there.

Wierd theft story part 2
Posted 15 years agoAn update on my current situation.
A friend of mine came over on Saturday to look at the xbox sitting in my living room. He plugged it in with his cable and turned it on. There is no red ring of death as I previously thought so I start scratching my head in confusion as this is getting weirder. Next he goes online with it to see if there was a system ban placed on it. That cleared. The final test he ran was to check if the warranty seal was still intact which it was. So here I am even more dumbfounded on this bizarre crime. Okay, even weirder yet to my benefit, the system came with a game: Modern Warfare 2. So now I have a new game.
I later acquired my serial number from the box it came in and checked if that matched any of my roommate's cousins' xboxes and that came back negative so suspicion is cleared.
All that aside I contacted the police to file a report with them and hopefully track down my xbox. I even emailed xbox support so they can track it down and I can get it back. One more status update once I get the results of all this.

My wierdest theft story
Posted 15 years agoSo today i get home after class to find the door was slightly open to my apartment. I exercised caution around the place, looking to see if stuff is still there and whatnot. Everything seemed in place. The following may or may not relate to this incident. It wasn't until later when a friend of mine wanted to play my xbox 360 when we noticed something was strange. the 360 was not plugged in to anything and the power cable wouldn't plug into the machine. It was a different power cable than what "this" machine came with. I did some more investigation to find that it wasn't my 360. Someone had swapped theirs for mine. Now here I am thinging WTF!? Why would someone do something like this? Why not just steal the system entirely? I got to thinking that this machine has the red ring of death. Why else would they do this? Now this is where it gets difficult for me. Who would do this? Who has access to my apartment? Two of my roommates I know very well and the friends they bring over too. The third one just moved in a few weeks ago and I don't know her that well or the guests she brings over. I suspect it might be those kids and I did bring it up with her. She was calm about it and will look into it. Then again, in the few hours I was gone today someone could have done the swap but this is just weird. i hope this gets resolved soon.

Moving and this heat wave
Posted 15 years agoI will be moving to my new apartment in less than a month and lemme tell ya I can't wait. The central air in my current place is very poor. The AC in the 3rd floor has been broken for who knows how long and no one is bothering to fix it (looks to property management). On top of that there is little insulation in this house so the cool air diffuses out of the house. In the meantime from now until I move and between work and internship, I will be going back home to my parents' house where it is cooler and where a pool is readily available.
I do know that the new place has better central air because when I last took a tour with a roommate, I noticed the ac wasn't currently running and it was cool inside. It helps that it is all on 1 floor and the bottom one no less. Can you say lower bills? I can.

Internship
Posted 15 years agoThis past Friday I finally started my internship with Nauticus. It was a long haul to get it started and I am glad it finally did. Started with an interview and orientation. Then it moved to I needing a copy of my transcript and two letters of recommendation. That is where it took the longest. I got on it right away with sending out emails to my boss and one of my professors I've had a couple times. I got the one from my boss but never received the one from my professor, even to this day. Not even a single word from him after the two more emails I sent to him. Got the letter instead from my anime club's president.
My first day was training. I am at the live exhibits department taking care of the marine life we have and educate the public about them. I still have a lot to learn about them. What I will be doing there is preparing the food for the fish, feeding them, cleaning their tanks, and whatever else comes my way. There are three other interns/volunteers that I will be working with and I hope to have a wonderful time there. Now to increase my hours there so I can complete the required 150 hours needed for this internship and find a part time job in the area to keep myself alive during the remainder of summer. Once school starts back up I will be returning to my old job at the library there and possibly continuing this internship as it looks like I won't be able to complete it during the semester (damn that professor for making me wait 2 1/2 weeks for a letter he never got around to)

Horror Game Night
Posted 15 years agoSince just before the beginning of last semester my friends and I have been doing our weekly horror game night. Surprisingly we have not run out of games to play as we have gone through a lot. We played titles such as Fatal Frame 2 & 3, Silent Hill 2 & 3, Haunting Grounds, Eternal Darkness, and Clocktower 3. We made a general rule of thumb to not play the Resident Evil series out of everyone has played it before. There have been many screams from my friends and I and complemented with countless laughs. Seriously, sometimes it seems they aren't even trying to make the game good by using bad voice acting. Anyway tonight was my turn to play and the game of choice was was Call of Cthulhu, brought by a friend. I've been a fan of Lovecraftian Lore and Literature (I even have the Necronomicon, contrary to belief it is actually a collection of his stories) and this game is a treat for me. So far in the game the developer has been right on with the characters and lore of the mythos. I think it is even following the events of some of the stories like The Shadow Over Innsmouth. I cannot wait to play again next Monday and get past those Innsmouth creeps that are chasing me through the hotel and surrounding buildings.
End of Semester Thoughts
Posted 15 years agoThis semester has been very stressful to me but I am glad it is at a close. I still have my final exams to complete but that shouldn't be a problem. Compared to what I had to deal with all semester long, this is cakewalk. I've dealt with too many papers than I would have liked. 6 in total with some essays for midterm/final. Seriously, way too fucking many for me.
On top of things, there has been some tension in my house with some of my housemates. I grew up in a household with some strong values so that had carried into this new house where I have to share space with 5 other guys. I'm surprised this tension arose on the second year I have been here and not previously. Well, I lied. There has been some in the past but not as big as it was this semester. I have tackled the cleanliness issue quite well. There used to be a problem with dirty dishes just sitting about in the sink and not in the dishwasher. I don't understand the difficulty of placing them in the dishwasher. IT IS RIGHT THERE! Seriously, one of my housemates said he doesn't know how to operate it. Anyway things are looking better now.
I still have my final exams/presentations to do for my classes. Shouldn't be a problem. Creative project for Literature, two essays for a useless class, and 3 exams is what I have. One of the exams is done so check that off. Bioethics and Accounting, here I come.

Tail
Posted 16 years agoI was hoping to find a tail at Nekocon but what they had wasn't what I wanted. There were plenty of fox tails and cat tails. I had wanted a wolf tail. With that, if anyone knows of a great person whom I can commission a wolf tail from, that would be awesome. I have a design in mind and will post a drawing of it when I get a chance.
*update*
Here is a link to the tail concept I wish to be made.
