Anthrocon 2018 MOVIE MONSTERS

Just a heads up to check out the art show at Anthrocon if you'll be there, I'll have several pieces up for sale and we're really on theme this year. This is a theme that I really love and it shows in the great new work I've come out with for the show, and I'm really excited for people to see them. Please check them out and let me know what you think as no matter how good of a camera I use, the originals will have an effect that I won't be able to replicate in a print!! Almost all work this year is in acrylics, no oils this time around.
I hope that you all are well and for those of you attending Anthrocon this year, I hope you all have A MONSTEROUSLY AWESOME TIME ;D ;D ;D

Posted 7 years agoI'm weeding out a lot of my gallery and uploading some new stuff, a good portion of my stuff has moved to scraps now. I may still delete a bunch of it but for now it's been moved from my main gallery. I spent the day photographing a bunch of my traditional paintings that were waiting to be photographed and have uploaded most of them to my various galleries today. CURRENT UPDATE ON COMPUTER and digital art future
Posted 8 years agostill having issues with my imac and havent tested it again in a while with other more pressing concerns such as weddings and conventions. Did a whole bunch of traditional work and submitted a bunch to the anthrocon artshow as well. Ive since discovered a humidity issue that sneakily built up over time to cause some small issues around the basement that i had no idea were happening so I had to get a dehumidifier and have had that running for several days now. Im testing the imac one more time in case the condensation that has built up over time has helped cause the power loss issues. So far the mac has been on for about an hour and i piddled around with a doodle in photoshop (that ive just posted) to give it a little more stress. Here's hoping it stays on the rest of the day perhaps. :_: otherwise i will really have to get some commissions to pay for repairs. Feel free to contact me on my instagram and let me know if you are interested! I will be working mainly in traditional stuff and can mail things to if you'd like as well. I have my old old laptop that can still run my printer's scanner so i can also just email scans to people. Or email me at lucianthinuscrystalni AT gmail ! thanks everyone, sorry for the silence.
OK so - computer
Posted 9 years agoOk so I think we've found a solution that will not involve me having the apple store cut my computer apart. I got a backup made and had it running upstairs in my house for about a week during which time I became more and more suspicious of the outlets down here in the studio space. However I had my grandfather come with his electrician tools to check out the outlets and the breakers and we could not find anything wrong. The only thing it could be at this point is an inconsistent power output from the circuit or my computer really does have and issue. To test this in one final way a friend of mine was kind enough to send me a UPS battery backup. It should stabilize the current and make sure it doesn't dip low enough for my iMac to cut out. If the iMac fails at this point it will tell me it absolutely is the iMac and not anything else and I will have to take it in. If that occurs well.... UGH. I will have to pay for them to cut my bby apart and I will be very upset, and have to pay for the repairs as this thing is about 3 years old now. Still runs like the day I got it! I love this behemoth and I really hope that this is the solution and not the last test. We shall see.

Computer issues
Posted 9 years agoOk so I will not have access to my photoshop and main file folders for a while because my computer is having some serious issues with it's power supply and I was just able to complete a backup last night after taking it to the apple store to get some information. Soon I will have to take it back to the apple store to get it repaired which will be expensive i'm sure but this thing otherwise still works as quickly and as well as the day I bought it which is stunning and I love this thing so repair it I shall. If you want to buy some sketch commissions help me out they'll be $15 a piece, I'll be able to upload from my phone and ipad for now. These will be traditional unless you want me to do a scribble in procreate or something digitally, which I think I've uploaded one thing from it onto here which was the black and blue gryphon doodle. If you'd like to see my latest sketch type things check out my instagram @ Lucianthinus ! In the meantime I will try to log in here from my phone when I can but its much easier to send me comments or messages via instagram since I will get notifications for those. I will post another journal when the repair is complete and my behemoth is home again. Until then, take care all. ;-;
ANTHROCON HERE WE COME!
Posted 9 years agoI am exceedingly grateful that I had paid for my anthrocon trip before all this crap with my hearing and missing work happened so that I am still able to attend. I hope to see a lot of you there!
I will be hanging work in the artshow again so please be sure to check it out and maybe even bid on a piece or two. All work from me in the show is originals!
I've made some needed modifications to my fursuit head and some tlc and they are prepped for packing for transport, got some fun outfits together and I am ready for 5 days of positive, friendly, furry fun. Gonna dye my hair again, touch up anything that needs it on my artwork, pack, and general get ready to leave Thursday morning for anthrocon! Will be there Thursday through Monday this time! Let all be good to each other and have an amazing fun filled weekend.

HEY EVERYBODY!!!
Posted 9 years agoSO, come hell or high water I will be at anthrocon in a couple of weeks to see all of you that are going!!!!
I am hanging art in the art show so be sure to check out my work and the work of all the other very talented people I am HUMBLED to hang in the same show with. The talent on display at Anthrocon is going to be BADASS yet again this year so be sure to check that out and BID ON ALL OF THE THINGS !!
My hearing is still not back to where it was but there HAS BEEN IMPROVEMENT , I am hearing better than I was two weeks ago, and while its not the greatest since I still can't really hear telephones and the communication radio at work I can recognize noises as sounds again and hear people voice's to a limit. I'm best of course with people whom I have known for a long time and can recognize the patterns of their voices well enough that I can more easily guess what is being said. People whose voices I don't know well I still have trouble with but it's still WORLDS better than where I was a little over two weeks ago now. I was entirely deaf two weeks ago and I was entirely unprepared for that since I functioned so well with what little hearing I did have and the help of my hearing aid. I am a voice communicator and never had the opportunity to learn ASL so it was difficult to figure out how to function and difficult to function entirely due to being thrust into the middle of my worst nightmare. I literally used to wake from panic attacks in my sleep from dreaming of waking up one day unable to hear ever again. It's been a hard last three ish weeks and the last three days back to work have been .... difficult. SO - I TERRIBLY NEED THE VACATION THAT IS ANTHROCON AND TO SEE ALL YOU LOVELY PEOPLE AGAIN FOR A FEW DAYS. This will be a sorely needed respite from the rest of reality for a few days and I thankfully get paid vacation time to use for the con and so I will be getting paid for the time I am spending with all you lovely fuzzies ;D I am excited and can't wait to get to hang my art in the artshow and run around in my suits with everyone. Be good to each other and see you in a couple of weeks!!!!

Update on situation
Posted 9 years agoSo, have been on the pills over a week and still no improvement in hearing. Tomorrow is my MRI and then sometime after that will be the follow up appointment for that, which the doctor will then tell me what he sees can still be done. In the meantime I am out ANOTHER WEEK from my day job and definitely need to be put to work making art for you awesome peeps to pay some bills! SO COME AT ME WITH THEM COMMISSIONS OR BUY SOMETHING OF MINE THAT I'VE ALREADY MADE AND LISTED FOR SALE ON MY INSTAGRAM! =D COME ON COME ALL , CHECK OUT THE FUN STUFF.

PERSONAL bad news - Real talk here for a minute

I have a lifetime history of hearing loss, however it has been well managed up until now with a hearing aid and some medications I was on temporarily to stabilize it ten years ago. I've been VERY lucky until several days ago to be able to communicate well enough with others that I could do as complicated a job as being a custom framer is, able to hold long and complicated verbal communication as if I did not have any hearing loss at all to people who did not know me. Many people commented as such that if I hadn't said anything they would never have known when I would be taking their information and ask them to double check i heard them right " I apologize if you could just double check this since i'm hard of hearing and I want to make sure we've got your phone number right to call you to let you know when your order is done" very lucky....
I woke up on 5/27 with a strange fuzziness to my hearing that I thought was just me being groggy and half asleep. It turned into a deep realization of dread when I turned on my hearing aid and was unable to hear even HALF as well as I had the day before. I went to the audiologist, had another hearing test done, verified the damage and went to an emergency appointment to the nearest ENT who prescribed me the medication I had been on a decade ago that raised my hearing some and stabilized the fluctuations.
I have been on them for 4 days now and so far it seems to only have gotten worse and I've already missed 3 work shifts. My job with a corporate company will probably not be viable once they force me into a LoA after missing 7 days of work. They want us to be on LoA for any time periods where we are expected to be out of work for more than 7 days. I am in no position to be able to legally fight it if they choose to let me go by making something up for the official record, without proof that they did so because I am now nearly entirely deaf despite the supposed protections of the ADA. The future is very uncertain so I am going to take things into my own hands and dive head first into creating things for others to enjoy to support myself.
If you can help in any way it is GREATLY APPRECIATED, even if you do not want a commission or anything of the sort. Posted 9 years agoI KNOW it's super early and that this con is still two months or so away, but dammit I am excited. This will be the only major con I get to go to this year so I'm makin it count! I hope to get to see lots of you there and to get a million pictures and endless goofy video on my GoPro Hero. I am currently working on some new artwork for the art show so be ready to get in there and bid on those! Take home some originals! I am also beginning work on my very first fullsuit and I am going to let me HALLOWEEN FUR flag fly with this one finally. I am super excited! HEY FOLKS !!!
Posted 9 years agoSo just a few updates really quick here:
We moved house and finally got mostly set up and settled in, its pretty nice to have a bigger place than the lunchbox apartments we have had. I can't wait til the warm weather finally kicks in and I can work outside on my deck with some painting and reading and such.
I have acquired Pokemon Yellow and Pokken Tournament as well as Twilight Princess HD for the Wii U I got for my birthday! So excited.
I am working on getting my home a little more into what I'd like it to look like but follow me on instagram to see more frequent updates and to see my house and my day to day shenanigans.
Work is work, we have a new store manager now that isn't really working out so well but we are holding out hope that things will settle and she will get with the program and work with the flow of the team.
I WILL be at Anthrocon one way or another, I am hoping to work on a couple of new art pieces to sell at the art show. I'm considering some canvas work this time. Or maybe some wood panel paintings even.

Getting ready for a new year/ LETS THINK POSITIVE GUYS ;D
Posted 9 years ago2015 was hard and painful, the year was mostly negative situations with a few super positives thrown in between.
So i'm gonna just point out the good stuff that happened this year and hope for an even better 2016!
My good things:
Got my license and a car finally at 27 years old.
Went to my first Anthrocon driving my new car to Pittsburgh all on my own
Got to hang with

centradragon at Anthrocon and it was awesome!
Went to Dragon*Con where I got to meet some very important people ( important to me anyway) and it was an amazing weekend and I will miss going to this con terribly. One day I'll have the funds to go back.
Made it to the Marvel.com cosplay page for Dragon*Con in a close up non-group shot with my Wolf Loki costume, so proud.
Met some really awesome furs at Dragon*con,

Lilshark and some other peeps that I can't remember them all right now, because you were all awesome!!! I hope to see you ALL again at Anthrocon this coming year! GOT A HOUSE- I GOT A MOFO HOUSE. Well condo, but to be fair it's not an apartment and we aren't paying rent and it's instead an investment that we can get something back from later down the line which is really nice. It has an actual patio we can get a grill for and sit outside when spring and summer roll around again.
SAID HOUSE HAS A BASEMENT I AM TURNING INTO A WORK ROOM I FINALLY HAVE A WORK ROOM OF MY OWN OMFG. I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS FACT. I really hope that this will translate into some actual new artwork for the Anthrocon art show in 2016!! Look for new stuff in my gallery in the coming year. :)
SO - THIS HAS BEEN A GREAT LISTING OF FEEL GOOD AWESOME STUFF FROM THIS YEAR TO ATTEMPT TO CLOSE OUT WITH A POSITIVE VIBE. TELL ME IN THE COMMENTS SOME GREAT THINGS THAT HAPPENED FOR YOU IN 2015. Let's all turn our thinking around and just remember the good times, let go of the bad, I know they sucked and it was super hard so pluck out those good things that happened and remember them fondly and take them forward with you into a new year! So i'm gonna just point out the good stuff that happened this year and hope for an even better 2016!
My good things:
Got my license and a car finally at 27 years old.
Went to my first Anthrocon driving my new car to Pittsburgh all on my own
Got to hang with
firefeathers and 
blackngoldtigerlord and 
centradragon at Anthrocon and it was awesome!Went to Dragon*Con where I got to meet some very important people ( important to me anyway) and it was an amazing weekend and I will miss going to this con terribly. One day I'll have the funds to go back.
Made it to the Marvel.com cosplay page for Dragon*Con in a close up non-group shot with my Wolf Loki costume, so proud.
Met some really awesome furs at Dragon*con,

Lilshark and some other peeps that I can't remember them all right now, because you were all awesome!!! I hope to see you ALL again at Anthrocon this coming year! HIT ME UP YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE I REALLY HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE AND GRAB A DRINK OR SOMETHING! For those of you making or acquiring new suits I really want to get to see them! :) GOT A HOUSE- I GOT A MOFO HOUSE. Well condo, but to be fair it's not an apartment and we aren't paying rent and it's instead an investment that we can get something back from later down the line which is really nice. It has an actual patio we can get a grill for and sit outside when spring and summer roll around again.
SAID HOUSE HAS A BASEMENT I AM TURNING INTO A WORK ROOM I FINALLY HAVE A WORK ROOM OF MY OWN OMFG. I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS FACT. I really hope that this will translate into some actual new artwork for the Anthrocon art show in 2016!! Look for new stuff in my gallery in the coming year. :)

~Step 1~
Make a post in your journal containing your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple to really big. The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

Posted 10 years agoHi everybody! I know I've been radio silent on here since Anthrocon and only uploaded a few images from Dcon. I've still got footage from AC to go through and upload to my youtube and images from dcon to upload everywhere but I have to process all these things before I can do that. Which I just dont have the time to do becauseeeeee.....
WE BOUGHT A CONDO!!!
WOO! I am going to have a dedicated workspace finally, small but its better than nothing which I've had to work in forever, all my supplies and tools needing to be stashed away when I am done for the day and having to waste time dragging them all back out and even then they were all over the general living space because we just didnt have any room for years.
I am very excited about this but it also means that we have been INSANELY busy as of late trying to find a place, make an offer, get repairs made, get a mortgage loan finalized, and get with the closing process. We are still working on it but we should get to the actual moving at the end of the month. Only a few weeks left! I will take pictures and video and upload everywhere of course lol. Any local furs who are in the cleveland/ Willoughby Ohio area that may wanna help me shove boxes and like free booze and pizza let me know! Otherwise I will be back here to update you all after the move gets underway and I get to decorating my new place! I'm really excited so wish me luck guys <3

News of late
Posted 10 years agoIn an unexpected turn of events from the previous journal I had received my money back in a refund. Now to move on with life.
In other news, if you follow my Twitter or Instagram you'll have seen some of the progress I've made on my luci cat partial! I am super excited and have reached past the halfway point in the project so theres just about nothing left to do but furring after that last bit of detailing and painting horns :) I am very excited. I will be debuting her at anthrocon and barring luggage issues , taking her to dragoncon as well!

Posted 10 years agoI do not like having to do this but due to numerous notes and two now with no response after I had been nothing but accommodating and non-accusatory I have discovered I have been BLOCKED by the person I purchased a tail from after seeing they had REPOSTED the tail image up for sale again and at a different price than I paid. I have opened a paypal dispute but I fear I will not see my money back or the item I purchased. PLEASE BEWARE!!!! I should have known better after seeing their gallery but I hadn't had a problem yet. Thankfully it is only 26$ unlike some others I have seen but still. That is 26$ I could have put towards something else and it aggravates the daylights out of me that people act this way. If you wish to know who I am referring to you may ask in note but I will retain some semblance of civility and not post their name publicly in this journal. I am just so angry right now after being nothing but patient and nice to this person.

So it finally started to warm up outside, and we've been experiencing a lot of rain the last couple of days. I am seriously looking forward to it being warm enough for me to work on my projects outside on my patio. Never did I think I would be excited for trips to home depot... but now that i'm starting projects that require things I have to get there? OH MAN HOME DEPOT. I used to go there sparingly and never saw the potential I see now. See what some knowledge will do to you?! LEARN ALL OF THE THINGS KIDS. (rofl)
I also acquired a lazy susan part and once I get a wood top for it i'll have a home made sculpting turntable. My last trip to Home Depot I dropped 53 bucks without realizing how much I was spending til I got through the checkout! D: I never do that, and if that doesn't say a lot about how excited I get in Home Depot now then I don't know what will xDDDDDDDDD
Anyone else experience this ? It used to be I'd only get this "kid in a candy store like" when I went to art supply stores haha.

I have been having a heck of a time dealing with the shop taking up all my time still, I know I promised you would see some new stuff from me but sadly due to work at the shop its not happened. I am hoping once the framing manager comes back on board and I am not filling his spot and my own anymore that I will have a bit more time for things. ;-; it's been really crazy up here in my little corner of the world to say the least.
