Where to find Mynx?
Posted 9 years agoI decided to spend the evening moving a bunch of stuff from here to my Weasyl, which is just Mynx.
I've got a lot of old art here that can be consolidated/removed, but I'm keeping my gallery intact for "Historical Records". My Weasyl will focus mostly on papercrafts and my more recent drawings. Going forward however both will be updated with the same content, if I ever bother posting new content haha.
I'm also @ MynxFox on Twitter where I sometimes post more doodlier things, but most of you who care already follow me there!

Furnal Equinox 2016
Posted 9 years agoI'll be checking out FE tomorrow! It's the closest furry con to me but I never attended it before.
I don't personally know many people who are going, but I will likely meet up with
Tarukai788 and roam around a bit on my own. Maybe I'll even try to interact with people I don't know but that's asking a lot from me! <:3

Updated Gallery!
Posted 10 years agoOh hi!
I cleaned up my gallery a bit and sorted things into folders. More importantly I updated a few of the low quality papecraft pictures, mostly things from 2010 or earlier. A lot of those were taken by some cheap webcam!
Some of the papercraft submissions were also updated with larger versions too, now that FA allows that. Those should be good reasons to explore my papercraft folders, just try to stay away from the old doodles folder. >__>

Biggest Little BLFC and Trip Report
Posted 10 years agoI guess I haven’t made a con report for a while so here we go.
I attended the Biggest Little Furry Convention (BLFC) in Reno, NV a few weeks back, followed by a road trip through south-western United States with Procyon. Big adventure, farthest and longest I’ve ever travelled on my own, met great people, visited cool (and cold) places, and did furry things. The end.
BLFC Pictures
Road trip Summary Pictures
THURSDAY
Alright now for the detailed version (which I will still try to keep simple since this is a two week adventure! Also please highlight any errors, typos or inconsistencies if you notice any). You can follow along with the summary pictures! I left from Toronto Pearson Airport on Thursday on a bright and sunny afternoon, arrived at Chicago on a cloudy-as-always later afternoon, Phoenix it was getting dark but at least it was warm, and then finally Reno an hour before local midnight. The first thing I see upon leaving the plane is of course slot machines at the airport. To my unfortunate surprise it was wet at Reno and colder than or just as cold as the other cities I stopped by! I walk around confused for a while until I realize luggage was just taking a long time to unload. I soon board the shuttle headed for the Grand Sierra Resort and make subtle observations of the people around me and judge if they are blatantly furry or just a normal resort visitor. :3
The GSR sure was grand and it was quite impressive. I check in casually and play it cool as headless suitors roam around (since you were not allowed to wear a suit head on the casino level). Everything smells like cigarette smoke as I make my way to the farthest set of elevators. The hotel room was upgraded to a king suite and it was pretty sweet (see panorama shot in pictures). Also a pull out bed and lots of sofa couches. I make myself at home, claim the king sized bed to myself and try not think too hard that I managed to get ALL THE WAY TO RENO!
FRIDAY
I slept well, wake up, realize I am in Reno and get all nervous and stuff. I somehow manage to leave and finally have the breakfast RelaxingDragon1 promised me two MFFs ago. We went to some breakfast food place outside the resort and I got to see the city of Reno in all of its glory (it wasn't that glorious). RD invited two cool critters on the breakfast trip and were great company and I wish I could have hung out with them some more, moopdrea and Inashne117. RD introduces me to a plethora of fuzzies I had little hope at remembering, but those with suits did show up again and if anyone was around to listen I could have busted out some serious furry knowledge then.
I register and do various con roaming. I meet the marfy Mike Folf aka Simmer on the way (and of course it was RD who introduces me to him). I give my little “HEY I KNOW WHO YOU ARE” speech and try to prove it by telling him his FA name, while he tells me mine. I feel a little more comfortable being there after that and only stop by my hotel room three times per hour instead of six :P. There was a panda photoshoot that I orbit around for a bit since I was clinging to RD. I run into PepperCoyote and try to play it cool as he invites me to watch the comedy event that’s happening. I cringe, laugh and shake my head in disappointment (but mostly cringe) while Pepper mentions all the things they are doing wrong with the audio setup. Shortly after that *cough* trainwreck *cough* Pepper has his music show which was seriously awesome and genuinely funny (and I didn’t cringe as much). At this point I really start enjoying the con and I feel a lot more comfortable and way less nervous. :3
Procyon arrives around this time and I give him the hotel room tour. I meet even more people now via the other raccoon, who all probably had a Ph.D (Kashra may have been one of them according to Procy). and studied some really cool aspect of science. Dinner buffet ended up being with Procyon, super nice guy Abe, old time Procyon friend Daria and her buddy Monophylos. More meet and greets, networking and collecting business cards and e-mails during room parties. This whole trip was really a job search in disguise! We eventually meet up with AstroDuck who is at the nerd room party with really fun people. I could only excitedly shout “HEY I KNOW YOU, YOU’RE DURJ” at Durj since everyone else was new to me, but really all I knew about Durj was some friends Twittered at him often. I learn a lot about comics and have beer thrust into my paws. Slowly make way back to room despite wanting to stay, but it was late.
SATURDAY
Next day, I catch the tail end of Toki, Abe and the gang’s jazz performance, then breakfast with more Procybuddies including two otters I’ve heard of but it was too early in the day to give my “HEY I KNOW YOU” shout (DadaistOtter and DadeOtter, plus a Kyash). Meet up with Astro, Riley and Kilometers who were super cool and fun to hang with. A blend of roaming around, playing the slots, THE WHEEL, Kilometers winning BIG, getting rejected from the casino bar for being Canadian, forcing others to play a terrible card game called Avalon, making Procyon nervous about it which eventually made him to leave to buy socks. ootachi and LatteMonster drop by and I scare them off by trying too hard to be friendly and making them play my card game. :(
Fursuit parade and second night of dancing, Cami all suited up and being a hyperpuppy. Room party with Ph.D. that I just couldn’t get myself to interact with that much (they were there to say bye to Procyon for the 10th time since he’s going to Denmark njkext month). Then the real party begins when we hear the first thud of someone walking into the ill placed mirror just outside the hotel room door. We leave the door slightly open to hear reactions of those coming in to visit, either walking right into it or freaking out on seeing the mirror. There was Procyon, AstroDuck, Durj, teddyfoxcoon, KristianCollie, aurora-fox, rcmouse and maybe redwulf (she was there at the nerd room party the night before). Daria and Monophylos show up later on.
Apparently there was this “official BLFC party” going on, aka Skyler’s party, which was giving away resistance/civilian themed badges that I just HAD to get. After much convincing, I got Procyon to go with me to find this room but at the elevators on the way we met RelaxingDragon all suited up in party mode, telling us the room party was SHUT DOWN. I was pretty disappointed for delaying so long and missing it after everyone was returning with free fans and badges.
We return to the room to find it mostly intact still. It was an enjoyable and eventful room party full of sitting on couches and on each other, sharing Youtube videos from our phones, Astro wearing Cami head, money falling out of Astro’s hat, money being thrown at Astro, 2am deserts room service, money falling out of Astro’s hat again, “just a little bit of peach”, serious flopping, and discussions about Lucario’s hips.
RD FINALLY shows up and regrets taking so long to get to the best party. I introduce my “long time buddy” Durj to RD who just movie talk the night away. As the party draws to a close, RD whisks me away and tries to get me into other room parties, which have been mostly shut down. Except for the underwear parties. :| I say bye to :linkTenebrisRex for the fifth time since I kept running into him the whole day (after Procyon introduced us), return to the hotel room and try to coax Procyon off the floor and into a proper bed. Which he does, eventually.
SUNDAY
Wake up, pack up and move out because it’s suddenly SUNDAY. I buy something from Starbucks for the first time in my life and keep Procyon company as he tries to recover from the night before. I decide to explore a bit, run into Durj who leads me to Astro and allows me to store my stuff in his car. Kilometers and Astro go skydiving, I regret missing out on go-karting (I blame RD again), I wear big fluffy paws and seriously paw at Procyon, sit down with people I think I know but may not remember me and doodle until everyone starts to leave. I kinda squee over Tachi’s doodles and probably draw the best Yoshi of my life for him, which was actually still pretty bad. A silly doodle for Durj and a random Gabumon later, I’m giving awkward goodbyes and having my final BLFC dinner with Astro and Mari. Soon, the three of us are on the road and we’re GOING TO CALIFORNIA. We drive through the Sierra-Nevada with pretty nice views and zoom through Sacramento without saying hello to Hordan. :3
This ends the BLFC Report.
MONDAY TO WEDNESDAY
I stay at the AstroDuck Hotel just outside San Francisco while Astro is at work (many many thanks Astro and Mari for your hospitality if I have not thanked you enough yet! :3). I play with Astro’s wooden blocks, try to befriend cat, drink tea from a beaker, setup a Raspberry Pi media server, check in on IRC, and call my mom and wish her a happy birthday. A relaxing, peaceful day before I decide to venture into the great outdoors and walk for hours trying to reach the Googleplex, passing by many neat things along the way (SEE PICTURES). I return just before sunset to let the duck into his own house, have a fancy dinner of pizza and wine and watch Captain America on the (mostly) functional media server.
Visit downtown San Francisco the next day, spend most of the day at the Exploratorium just being fascinated by everything as if I was ten again. Meet up with Tachi who shows me the arcade machine museum and gives me a tiny glimpse of his vast video game knowledge. I feel young and ignorant having missed out on arcade machines as a big part of my childhood, but luckily Tachi manages to talk about z-buffers in home consoles and I feel old again. I introduce my “long time buddy” Tachi to RelaxingDragon, who talk the evening away about famous furries over dinner. I’m just amazed at how the community is so connected and interlinked and listen with interest. RD drops me off home and I invite him over as a thanks. I’m not sure if Astro appreciated it since RD tried to convince him to go to every furry outing that will ever happen.
Take train back to SF the next day, walk forever to reach Strawberry Hill at Golden Gate park, bus around like I know the city inside out and meet up with Airyu. I totally don’t hold her dresses as she finishes up her shopping then go to the Japanese Mall, do an embarrassing photobooth thing, STRESS OUT because of time constraints, ease a bit when eating a crepe with icecream which was like the best thing I had. Rush hour traffic home, leave Airyu behind at the train station at the last minute (her train was arriving later), but I still felt kinda bad for leaving her since her phone was dead too! Astro is in a meeting so it’s an excellent time to drive me to the airport, yipping in agreement with his co-workers on occasion. Short flight to Burbank, long wait for the shuttle to finally start driving to Procyon’s house. Spend the night as his place on minimal, communist grey, inflatable mattress and covers. I also eat his humus and tortilla supply, salvaging some cardboard and napkins as a makeshift plate.
THURSDAY TO SUNDAY
I help poor Procyon pack the rest of his apartment into his car, ENGAGE ROADTRIP MODE. But stop at In-N-Out Burger first and regret not knowing about the “animal style” option before ordering! The rest of the trip is a lot of driving and a lot of parks, better described with the posted images. Here’s a breakdown of locations that can be followed along in the 300 image imgur album:
• Joshua Tree National Park, CA
• Hoover Dam, NV/AZ
• Las Vegas, NV
• Zion National Park, UT
• Grand Canyon National Park North Rim, AZ
• Vermillion Cliffs, AZ
• Mojave Bridge, AZ
• Horseshoe Bend, AZ
• Four Corners, UT/AZ/CO/NM
• Mesa Verde National Park, CO
• Great Sand Dunes National Park, CO
• Independence Pass, CO
• Aspen, CO
• Maroon Bells, CO
Joshua Tree NP probably had the warmest and clearest weather, followed by many cloudy and rainy days traveling to Colorado. Even snow on the climb to the Grand Canyon! I was prepared to wear shorts the whole trip too! I eat meals that are like four times as big as what I’m used to and scamper up many hiking trails. We also encounter weird things on the way like constant “gator farm” advertisements along the highway, silly billboards, and an alpaca store. I keep my eyes open for any fox-related things too.
MONDAY TO WEDNESAY
Arrive in Aspen for Procyon’s science con where I stay as a guest in his free rented condo. I’m left alone to roam the town while science con happens, weather FINALLY clears up after a light shower and we get a functional room key. I relax a bit in the room and chat online with Shade99 and some family. For dinner, I have mac and cheese with “Colorado’s best bacon” and some blueberry beer that Procyon sneers at. Procyon pays for all my expensive Aspen food and suggest we go watch a movie, which I had to act fast and put my paw down and pay for before he decides to pay for that too! We watch Mad Max (how romantic!) then we make our way to the condo in the rain.
The next day we visit the final park for the trip: the Maroon Bells. We hike through mud, rain and snow (which was the first time during this whole trip I was unprepared, mind you), Procyon educates me on types of animal poop and we observe a minor avalanche. The views of the lake and mountains were of course fantastic. Dinner is the largest fish sandwich ever which exploded all over my plate before I could put it into my maw, followed by beers and a final trip recap at the noisiest pub thing.
An early morning trip from Aspen to Eagle Airport, where plans are delayed due to pilots requiring some minimum hours of sleep before flying again, a quick but meaningful goodbye and I’m off on a propeller plane to Denver! I manage to pass the hours in Denver before flying to Chicago, where I DASH for the last plane to Toronto and I’m home (my luggage wasn’t able to keep up though and got stuck in Chicago for a day).
Overall, the trip was okay, I guess. ;)

Posted 10 years agoI'll be attending the Biggest Little Fur Con in Reno and also doing a small trip around the California area (Reno > San Francisco > just outside LA > roadtrip towards Colorado). I'll be gone for about two weeks and also I'm leaving today. Surprise! :3
I'll try not to get too furry!

Posted 11 years agoHello/Yip!
I am still here and yes I am still a fox on the internet.
There is a festival happening next week involving furries in the midwest. You might have heard of it, it's called Midwest FurFest. I'll be attending this year again so I don't need to do those silly convention meme things. That's such a first con type of thing to do!
Most likely anyone who'd want to get in touch with me already has an efficient way of doing so. But if for some reason you don't or you just want to follow my every move, you can probably just Twtter me at: @MynxFox.
Also if you had anything exciting or interesting happen in the past year, feel free to write me a story about it below. I'm quite outdated on all the happenings around here.

MFF2013 Ultimate Con Report
Posted 12 years agoDespite all my efforts to keep this short, it sadly won’t be, so I will just accept that and make this report as obscenely long as possible instead. >:3 Also let me know of any inaccuracies, there may be some time warps below.
Friday
I got to the local airport and I was confused for a bit but I eventually got onto my plane with time to spare. After not being on a plane for around a decade, (flying on my own for the first time too) I was pretty riveted to the window as we ascended and travelled high above the clouds. Everyone else on board seemed less than impressed for some reason. It was equally rain cloudy in Toronto as it was in Chicago.
The flight was rather quick and I travelled an hour back in time because of time zone magic. I disembarked into O’Hare Airport (after some delay with getting the jet bridge attached), asked around for the escalator while standing almost across from it, and found my way to the Hyatt shuttle bus area. I boarded the bus with one other passenger from Europe returning home from one of the other airport terminals along the way. After he left I was the only passenger, suddenly worried that I might be going to the wrong hotel. I quickly message Astroq and Procyon. Naturally, Astroq does not respond until like an hour later, but Procyon reassures me the Hyatt Regency O’Hare is the one in Rosemont and everything is well.
I get closer to the hotel and the driver asks me where my costume is and I give him an acceptable response. I arrive at the hotel and message Astro hoping he would be around our room, as he did promise he would not be out at the bar drinking at 3pm and I would not be interrupting his socializations. But of course he was already at the (closed) Red Bar and my messages were interrupting his socializations.
I had an elaborate plan of trickery planned when meeting Astro for the first time; but he was cleverly stationed right at the hotel room door as I approached and so my brilliant plan was foiled. I dropped off my stuff, we greeted, quacked and yipped awkwardly and made our way down to The Couches at the (closed) Red Bar. I recognized the Science_fox and it wasn’t all that hard to figure out the bearded VisMis, but there were two never-before-met-at-all people: FanaticFox (who also goes by FerretParade confusingly) and tekroo both who turned out to be actually pretty cool people! I happened to be around FerretParade’s presence a bit more than Tek Roo, who I only saw near the beginning and near the end of the entire adventure.
Swiftcutter joined us shortly after at The Couches (it was reassuring to see someone a bit more familiar to me and the eek-new-people-anxiety settled a bit). We broke the ice with some Cards Against Humanity which got us all in a good, laughing uncontrollably mood. Then someone new had to show up and we exchanged a few “who’s this guy” between each other before I introduced myself to RelaxingDragon1. We hugged awkwardly because… I was staring at his racoon tail. >__>
The Red Bar opened around this time and we all claimed “The Table”. I didn’t eat anything since breakfast, but after a few nachos and quesadillas I felt uncomfortably full (I think I was still full with a little anxiety). Simmo and Flyssa arrive, and although I never met them before, their personality felt familiar and it was pretty easy to adjust to their presence. Lizeh, Muffinpaws and TangyWolf (Javs) find us too, hugs and greetings were exchanged. Then the blue haired :link taikamiya: and the pink haired Airyu show up and Airyu gives these awesome badges to everyone and I get my first MFF badge! :3 I leave my Tai Papercraft with Tai which leads to Terrible Consequences later on. At some point here, Swiftcutter manages to drink my drink “accidentally”. :|
I travel with VisMis and Swiftcutter to pick up my official MFF badge and take a tour around artist’s alley and the dealer’s room. I wander around a bit and (unintentionally) lose both of my companions in my wanderings. Artist’s Alley begins to close and I manage to find my way back to The Table at the Red Bar with everyone seated just as before (minus Tai, Ariyu, Lizeh, MuffinpPaws and Javs). Tai left behind his papercraft, Science_fox enquires what I am going to do about it and I respond with a cold “it’s his problem now” or something along those lines.
Throughout most of this time, I appear to be rudely preoccupied with my phone, but I was in fact trying to coordinate with a badge pick-up and a papercraft delivery. I head out for a minute to receive my badge from the wonderful Shnellz who came from the other side of Canada! We chat and part ways and I return with the awesome and huge MFF badge #2. Nast and crazy table collabs happen and soon we all leave The Table in search of the games room. We converge outside the Red Bar entrance, there is a people shuffle as groups reunite. Airyu gives Astro a bunch of ducks and Astro proceeds to break them. I THINK I meet Bliz here for the first time, the party splits into telepictionary group and a new Red Bar group while I stay behind to attempt a papercraft delivery. The delivery fails due to lack of proper communication and I end up in a very sad looking video game room in my quest for the games room. After circling around a bit wi-fi searching, I manage to deliver my final papercraft to the amazing Peppercoyote. He was almost as musical in person as he was online and we talk at the conveniently placed chest-high wall separating the Red Bar from the outside world. He’s in a rush to pay his tab and I’m in a rush to get in on a game of telepictionary. Sadly, we pass by each other briefly only one more time (another time in Pepper’s suit during the parade) and didn’t get to accept his offer of “we’ll have to party” but there’s always NEXT YEAR.
I arrive just in time for telepictionary and meet a new stranger who turned out to be Procyon! He brought Taiwanese yum foods, a bunch of use play telepictionary (see here for results!). Procyon, having flown like a million miles without eating, is hungry so Astro and I bring him over to The Table, where he orders sushi that ends up being “disappointing” according to the raccoon. Astro’s response time is about ten minutes now so it’s like communicating with a rover on Mars (during opposition). :P izixs joins us who I only briefly saw in IRC once some year ago (I managed to get a rather detailed explanation that he was a dragon during that time though) and someone else who I had no idea at all who she was but she drank her furry-themed alcoholic beverage in like one gulp! Tai returns and I connect to wi-fi, causing Tai to get a message I sent him earlier.
Others rejoin us, I depart with RelaxingDragon for perhaps the longest (and only) game of Lupus in Tabula that I have played. I sit next to Wolfflax who RD introduces me to and I recognize his badge was similar to his FA avatar (Although I’ve only seen him around on FA at most). RD gives me a quick rundown of all the popufurs in the room and on furry social politics. The werewolves eat RD early into the game because of his crazy theories that may have worked, followed by a carefully organized eradiation of his nearby associated (namely Wolfflax and myself). I sit around as a ghost for a while before giving up at 2am. I find out Lizeh was deviously hiding her werewolf identity this whole time and ended up killing me, the innocent villager! :( RD returns in suit and he becomes the first full furry suit I hug! :3
I head back to the hotel room, Astro is sleeping and making cat noises and I attempt to charge my phone which had a sudden 50% loss in battery power while playing Lupus in Tabula (maybe due to the frequent wi-fi on/off switching, it was pretty hot and definitely not due to just general use). I realize I forgot a USB-to-wall-outlet adapter at home and head down to the hotel lobby to charge my phone briefly and get in contact with Procyon who was standing just around the corner! I chat with him and a bunch of his associates, whose names I don’t recall at all (there were too many of them!). We discussed engineering in academia and other serious topics before being really tired and ready to sleep at 3am. We try not to wake Astro up as fumble around trying to charge my phone some more. I didn’t understand the bed covers and force myself under them. In the morning I realized they were just tucked in really hard and I could have loosened them for a slightly less snake-like constricted sleep.
Saturday
I woke up at a timely 10am and PepperCoyote informs me of the fursuit parade happening soon. Procyon was kind enough to let me use his phone charger so I return the favour by waking him up for the parade. I depart on my lonesome to the con suite where free food is apparently served. One of the people RD mentioned the night before was serving food (Alkali) and yelling loudly. I had like two hotdogs and some junk food (cookies, Smarties, Cheetos, healthy furry food).
Tai walks right past me while trying to find me, and I test his Mynx-finding abilities. He finds me shortly after, still in his blue hair, and we smuggle out food illegally. We head to the artist’s alley where Airyu, Swiftcutter and Science_Fox managed to grab tables! I do my second artist’s alley journey then head out to find a spot for the fursuit parade. I stand next to a railing looking down at the parade, only to be surprised by it winding around and right behind me! I high-five many suiters and recognize some 4 of them in total. Many blurry pictures are taken, and choppy video footage due to my phone being wonky and deciding 4 FPS is a good frame rate for videos.
I return to artist’s alley and hang around some more with Airyu, Swiftcutter and Science_Fox at their tables, ask Airyu to draw in my sketchbook, buy some small things and Streetpass a bunch of people on my 3DS. I search for Wi-fi again and encounter VisMis on his laptop trying to get a signal as well. We try our luck with the nearby Ethernet ports, but none work (I carry an Ethernet cable despite not having a device that needs it). I go meet up with Astro and Procyon at the Red Bar where we this random eccentric gentlemen talks to us about his band, bobcats and meows. I take one for Astro and converse with him until this fellow leaves. Astro and Procyon tell me the tale of how they met and about Procyon’s secret raccoon website. The three of us head towards the variety show taking place somewhere near the con suite. We meet Bliz, Lizeh and Muffinpaws on the way and recruit Bliz into our party. We endure the variety show while Astro makes silly, snarky Tweets at every act as he slowly suffers. Tai, Airyu, Javs and an audience member perform their skit, which was perhaps the best one there (totally non-biased for sure!). I’ll leave the reader to lookup/recall the other skits. ;) Javs is in his suit and I stare at his GREEN.
We work our way back to the Red Bar, Astro, Procyon, Bliz and I buy some drinks and I try out a vodka infused furry drink and we discuss life, things and the variety show. Around this time we go to Tai’s and AIryu’s room for a ROOM PARTY, I tag along with Bliz to get their iPad and encounter THIS. :3 We return, I drink cider for the first time, and we play intense 4-player iPad games. VisMis is on IRC and I join him and make Tai’s phone make noises every time I ping him on IRC. Airyu, Tai, Astro, VisMis, Bliz, and Procyon are present around this time (maybe others).
Tai, Airyu and I head off the watch “Whose Lion is it Anyway” hosted by Alkali, which by now RD and Tai have told me about and given my furry history lessons. It was a fantastic show, wow, such funny, much laughs. Tai and Airyu go up, I make even more bad recordings, RD shows up in suit and hugs are exchanged. By now I’m getting quite experienced with hugs. Tai piggybacks RD and Airyu and I lose them. I have the otter’s phone for some reason, we wander around, freeze by the open doors and have an ADVENTURE of confusion. Tai messages his own phone and we regroup back at their hotel room and someone knocks over my cider before I can finish it. Astro informs us that we missed an awesome party in a room over, then Tai, Astro and I go DANCE. Procyon is in suit now and somehow manages to dance in it, Izixs shows off his unique dance moves (I thought they were pretty cool compared to the generic romp-stomp). We manage to drag Astro onto the dance floor and we romp around pretending to know how to dance. <insert furry rave here>. The final song was a suitable “Don’t stop me now” by Queen and then we all left.
We experience bursts of The Great Cold as we cool off. Some minor antics with Tai, Procyon, RelaxingDragon and Izixs. Tai, RD and someone whose name escapes me play zombie Fluxx until the wee hours of 3am. I make breakfast plans with RD at 3am, return to the hotel room to find both Procyon and Astro getting ready to sleep and we exchange furry goodnights.
Sunday
I wake up on time for breakfast plans, but RD’s lack of communication leads me to resume sleep for a few hours more. Eventually everyone wakes up and Procyon and I move our stuff to Izixs room who was kind enough to let us store our belongings until we leave. I meet the robot dinosaurs I’ve spotted during the con in the flesh as they were Izixs’ roommates or something! Procyon and I rejoin with Astro in the coffee line, then Procyon decides he wants something and we get back in line! >_>
We bump into FerretParade and Tek Roo again, I miss breakfast with Tai and would have made it too if it wasn’t for Astro’s and Procyon’s coffee antics. I prepare to have a lonely breakfast again but meet Lizeh, Bliz and Muffinpaws in the con suite and I beg them to accept my company. Bliz tells some interesting stories of World of Warcraft exploring places players shouldn't be and explains their pronunciation of “Procy” as “Procky”, and shares some pictures and Goodras. We try to collectively identify the heroes and villains in a furry ad for some convention that used this picture. I inquire Lizeh and Muffinpaws about tails, Procyon appears and we go to the artist’s alley for the last time. Flyssa, Simmo, Javs, Astro, FerretParade and others merge into our group, I lead a Javs to water and we talk about the 3DS. Flyssa and Simmo say their goodbyes, but it takes so long that I manage to bring up Leon in conversation mixing him up with Simmo! I examine the tail selection in the dealer’s room and buy a tail to wear on my butt. :3
We go back to Bliz’s room, play some more iPad games and co-op Spelunky. I go waggle my tail around everyone’s face to Michal’s disapproval. We discuss the paws of Muffinpaws, take group pictures and just hang out in the final hours before we depart. Slowly people start to trickle away. I’m unsure about airport lines so I leave a little early just to be safe and end up having to wait over an hour at the airport. On the shuttle to the airport is again just one passenger, heading home to somewhere in the eastern US I think. We exchange short stories, he talks about his suits and is rather surprised when he finds out one of his suits shares my real name. :3 He was a pretty cool guy and I wish I remembered his name…
My tail passed airport security without a problem, I get on a fancy Air Canada plane with touch screens on the back of seats and watch a part of World War Z but don’t finish because the flight is so fast. The person who sat next to me was just coming back from a rock climbing trip in the Grand Canyon and told me briefly about her adventure. The end.
TL; DR: MFF was pretty fun. :3

Generic Midwest FurFest 2013 Journal #2024
Posted 12 years agoThere's some sort of event happening involving fantasy animal people gathering in a city from some sort of convention. As it so happens, I will be attending this "Midwest FurFest" convention late November. By chance, this is also happens to be my first "furry" convention as well, how about that?
Also this gives me an excuse to make an annoying convention meme journal so I can fit in with the masses and practice my con spirit.
Where are you staying?
Some random hotel called that Hyatt Regency O'Hare. Sounds pretty posh.
What day are you getting there?
I will be there Friday, November 22nd, 2013
Where will you be most of the time during the day/s?
I have no idea, hopefully everyone (at the same time)
Who will you be rooming with?
A space raccoon and some sort of duck
Do you do free art?
Well I'm certainly not paid to do art, so I would think I do it for free.
Do you do trades?
I haven't done many in the past, I just sort of emit art in carefully determined directions.
Do you do commissions?
Nope, but I'll probably end up commissioning some art.
Do you have prints/ CDs?
Mega Mynx Mix 2010 Collector's Edition Gold (Canadian Release only)
Do you do badges?
Nah.
What is your gender?
Male, but I would hope most reading this would know this by now.
How old are you?
The atomic number of titanium (if you had to look this up, then I cannot be your friend anymore)
Are you taken?
If I was then Liam Neeson would probably be punching people to- OH that kind of taken.
Do you have a fursuit?
The furriest of fursuits.
Can I touch you?
This always sounds like a strange question. I mean according to physics it's not exactly possible but... it's always a good idea to ask if unsure!
Can I talk to you?
I absolutely detest people who attempt to converse with me, especially during social events like conventions. (translation: sure!)
Can we hang out?
If there's anything I hate more than people talking to me, it's people hanging out with me. (translation: of course!)
Can I look in your sketchbook?
Under the condition you listen to my three hour introduction to how to navigate my sketchbook and the history behind it.
Can I draw in your sketchbook?
Only after attending my lecture mentioned above, passing the related exam and signing a Terms of Service agreement. Or you can just ask if you're into that sort of thing.
Can I buy you a drink?
Only if it's the classiest and most expensive of drinks on the menu. I will judge your character based on your choice.
Can I take your picture?
If I know you are trying to take my picture, I will deliberately go out of my way to not be in it. But yes you can try if you happen to catch me off guard.
Either I got really sarcastic by the end, or I stopped taking this meme as seriously as I initially intended. Uh, if you are someone who is going and would like to meet up, shout it out! Hope it will be fun! *Fidgets slightly nervously*

Of Mice and Milestones
Posted 13 years agoMice are generally cute. Milestones are strange critters though; sometimes they can mean so little, but sometimes quite a bit. For instance, today is my fifth year since registering on FA. Seems like nothing more than a bragging right, something to flaunt in the faces of others, since being here longer obviously marks me superior.
But I’m not going to fill this journal with bitter sarcasm and discuss the negatives of the nature of people. This is actually a cleverly concealed thank you to everyone here. Yes it’s been five bizarre and interesting years since I stumbled upon this site and quite a bit happened in the relatively short span of time. I finished high school, started university, got my first job, and very soon I will be (hopefully) graduating. A lot of irrelevant real-life related events…
Well time for my obligatory old man reminiscing time. I remember my first day on FA and the first submission that caught my attention. A couple days later realizing I can add art to something called ‘favourites’ and manually dug through thirty or so pages before finding the art a viewed days earlier just to ‘favourite’ it. I was impressed by the sheer amount of incoming submissions! For those curious few among you THIS was one of my memorable favourites when I found out what the favourite buttons does. A rather odd piece, perhaps a prediction of the madness that would soon surround me.
But what I think is the most significant of my time spent here is the people I got to meet. Through comments, submissions, journals, word-of-shout and watchers-of-followers, I had the amazing opportunity to meet some truly amazing people! The sub-communities and groups I’ve travelled though almost feel like a journey, an adventure even. The crazy things I did and the even crazier things I didn’t do but should have, it would be difficult to say this half decade didn’t have any impact on my life! Haha this journal is sounding so sappy it’s almost sad: I’m being sentimental over my association with an internet community.
It feels like time is passing by faster, five years was just last week. Is this what it feels like getting old? If I get the chance to talk to my future self, I hope I’m not boring and lose my interest in the fun side of life. I’ll be sure to tell my past self not give it up in the future.
This took longer to write up then I thought, and I thought I would end up writing more too. Thank you everyone for a fantastic five furry years, for your kind comments, and your ability to endure my endless annoying alliterations, occasional unpunfessional pun and countless counts of ill-timed sarcasm. Oh and while on the topic of milestones, I hit over 200 submissions and journals in my inbox due to my laziness. I also managed to clear though almost half of them in one day. That’s like two achievements right there, do I unlock something now?
TL;DR you guys are awesome, don't stop. Unless you get tired of being awesome, in that case take a short break and resume when convenient!

Obligatory February 14th Journal
Posted 13 years agoIt’s one of those days of the year where everyone makes a big deal out of something that is not normally appreciated on a daily basis. That’s right I’m talking about Cardioid Appreciation Day. Every year on the 14th of February this particular type of limaçon is reproduced countless times; from chocolate boxes to cards to doodles on scraps of paper. But why should this one mathematical curve be the only one to get all the attention?
Cardioids are the best you may argue. But let me tell you, fellow uninformed reader, there are many other equally romantic curves and functions that can easily rival the cardioid! Here are a couple that deserve mention:
Rose:
Elegant, beautiful and best of all uses polar coordinates. A rose is better at expressing one’s love than a simple old cardioid any day.
Mandelbrot Set:
What if you are a complex individual; hearts and roses are not profound enough. Then this series of points in the complex plane is just what you need. Sure it may look like a cardioid from afar, but it goes on much deeper than that, forever even. Imagine all the metaphors you can make with it!
Psychrometric Chart:
So maybe you are a little different, like two dimensional graphs with more than four axes and enjoy logical units (Celsius). It’s not much of a mathematical function, but you can impress people who like many curved lines, or a climatologist. And look colourful lines!
Water Temperature-Enthalpy Diagram:
Okay this one is actually a trick and doesn’t deserve a day of its own. If you want a sure way to destroy any potential relationship, then use this deadly weapon. Though it may look like a psychometric chart, it is for more deceiving. It has been scientifically proven to be six times more confusing to use than it is to look at. A favourite among sadists, anti-Valentiners and thermodynamics professors.
So the next time you celebrate February 14th, consider your other options instead of settling for a standard cardioid. Make use of a rose or Mandelbrot set, or if you are really outgoing a psychometric chart! But exercise caution around water phase-diagrams as they bare only bad news and suffering!

Another Year, Another Papercraft Stream
Posted 14 years agoAh, I’ve been rather quiet around here. I did not make much use of the winter break as I intended, but hopefully that will change soon!
So, how has everyone’s New Year been so far? Hopefully you’ve all had a reasonably positive start and have successfully recovered from your extravagant year end celebrations! If not then, well hopefully thing get better / you recover successfully. :D
Today, this journal (and I) is very much interested in your input, so do tell all about your recent doings, no matter how boring it may seem! In exchange all I ask is for, well more input. My last journal, featuring a bit of papercraft fun and games didn’t get as many replies as I hoped it would. So if you have a moment, I would very much be interested in why it didn’t gather as much interest. Was the idea too complicated? Or did it not seem very rewarding having someone else win? Too many big words? Was my paragraph formatting too obscene? Or was there just no interest in papercrafts at all!? My plan was to attract a nice crowd of eager participants and have a few character designs to eventually choose from. I feel bad for betraying those who did participate, but I was hoping to get some cooperative competition going on…D: Your input is valuable!
Anyway, that aside, I am planning on streaming this upcoming Saturday at about 1:00pm Eastern Time (UTC -5, some 34 hours from this journal posting). I’ll start off by playing some indie games that might be interesting and noteworthy as I wait for a crowd to gather. If I manage to get a crowd (being >1 viewer) I’ll work on modelling a new paper model. I’ll keep it interesting by going through as many steps of the process as I can such as modelling, texturing and unfolding steps. So mark your calendars (or leave a reminder on your smartphone if you are modernizing), and if you happen to forget, I’ll have a journal up when streaming starts! Am I well prepared or what? :D
I hope this journal is not too overwhelming. TL;DR your precious input and papercraft stream Saturday.

FREE PAPERCRAFT!
Posted 14 years agoHa I got your attention now! Hopefully it's everyone's attention too, not only the FREE STUFF folk! :D
I am going to make one (1) papercraft for a lucky person out there, which includes designing model and then building it out of paper (any delivery of the model may be discussed after completion). But before you start shouting 'PICK ME' as loudly as one can in a comment, there is one catch: you cannot choose yourself. That’s right, the free papercraft has to be for somebody else, not you (or your alternate account!).
The rules, if you choose to accept and follow them, are simple. All you must do is comment with the account name of the person you nominate. Your nominee then must reply to your comment with a description or reference of their character of choice. Therefore if you nominate someone, it would be wise to tell them you voted for them and guide them to this journal so they understand what you got them into.
The final choice will ultimately be mine. Getting multiple votes will help very slightly, but having an interesting and unique character will help the most. That does not mean a more complicated character with five arms, six livers, three sets of butterfly wings and sporting tribal marks on every inch of their body will get picked. On the contrary, I simply won’t be able to manage an overly complicated character, and so it will not help you getting picked.
If you are a nominee and happen to get more than one nomination, you can reply to each nominating comment with the same or different characters, but only one character per nomination. Not responding to any nomination at all will show me you do not wish to participate in this event, and will not be chosen. That’s perfectly fine with me, but having many nominations will just make it more interesting!
So what are you waiting for, step right up and start nominating! Don’t be shy! If you have any questions, ask away and I’ll try to clear it up! Good luck!

FanExpo and the Coming of Summer's End
Posted 14 years agoI hope I don’t look back on my journals one day and realize how often I apologize for being incredibly busy. Because this is that kind of journal. My submissions and journals stacked up over the past weeks and I would try to read them on my phone as I headed to work, putting off leaving comments ‘until tomorrow’ all the time.
For quite some time I was planning to go to the convention known as FanExpo located here at Toronto, Canada. FanExpo is your typical sci-fi, anime, horror, and gaming related convention being the second convention I attended (the first being FanExpo 2010).
This year I wanted to go all out and make a prop for FanExpo. Naturally it was a papercraft, another gun from Borderlands (a 1.6 meter long sniper! I am so very hardcore!). Over the past two weeks I’ve devoted any extra time to finish this project, while balancing sleep and working eight-hour shifts of putting rear bumpers onto cars and the like. The morning of FanExpo I completed the craft. Sadly the barrel did not hold as well to the body as I hoped, and I did not end up brining it and instead I brought the oversized revolver I finished previously. So it was somewhat a disappointment after all that work, but telling myself I will bring it to FanExpo really motivated me to finish it, so I’m glad I ended up finishing that project. I will upload some pictures for those interested within the following days! ;)
Rest assured I had an incredibly awesome time at the con and I’ll leave out all the minute details for your readers as you likely have better things to do. Here is a short summary: people everywhere, merchandise everywhere, comic books, video game booths, spending too muchtime in the artist alley, bought a few neat posters and buttons, many photos taken of some great cosplays, and LOTS of Stormtroopers! I’m planning to go again next year too, yeah! :D
Finally, I have about three days left of my summer student position at the car plant. The money of course was great, but the work not too mentally stimulating. On occasion I would imagine I am docking a spaceship into a port as I locked the suction cups of my device to the front fenders of the car (air release sounds included in device! Docking commencing. Activate thrusters. PSSSSHHHHHT). After that I have a short break before back to university. I always look forward to the first days of classes and then end up wishing for summer after the first week passes. >_>

By the Lights of Boston
Posted 14 years agoAmerica is a strange place to visit. Distances are measured in miles, temperature in Fahrenheit and Dunkin' Donuts are on every street (sometimes twice!). Or it could just be New England. Also an abundance of American flags.
It was a rather sudden trip (work us shutdown for a week for preparation of 2012 models), and before I knew it we was zoomed through New York state and were lost in Salem and eventually Boston. Tell me if you live nearby so I can steer clear of the location. I don't want to be seeing any crazed furries on my vacation!
In other news, last night in a Springfield hotel I had a strange dream where I fed a fox processed cheese slices. It disliked mozzarella and was content with cheddar but I woke before I tried what I think was peanut butter.
Also I don't know how kids these days can type so fast on phones. This journal nearby took an hour to write out... >_>

The Adventure of Mynx in the Assembly Plant
Posted 14 years agoRemember my old journal listing all the custom papercrafts I made? Well it has been updated, and all files are now direct links right to my server. How awesome is that? Check it out here: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/1641181/
Now for something unrelated at all. Over the past few days I was combating the server trying to setup a more respectable webpage (mostly configurations and security), but that was cut short by a rather important phone call. Now I don’t often talk about my personal life much, so consider yourself special today. The phone call was for a summer student job position, which may not sound like much, but this is my first real job! :O
Thanks to a family friend, I got in for orientation some month ago and got called in a day ago to start tomorrow! The job itself may or may not be interesting: I’ll be working for Chrysler assembling cars, namely the Dodge Challenger if any of you are familiar with it! (It’s a ‘pony car’... PONIES.)
It could just be my inner engineer but the thought of working in a modern, automated plant with robots, large complex machines and the smell of well lubricated hydraulics… well I see it as a new exciting experience! :D No doubt after the first day the charm will be gone and I will hate the repetitive tasks that I’ll be assigned. But it pays well and it’s only for short term. :P
So I’m a little anxious and excited about tomorrow; hopefully I don’t get into any industrial accidents on the first day. WHIMIS be with me! Oh, this may result in reduced activity, although I never do much anyway so it won’t be that noticeable.
How is everyone getting though this sweltering summer?

Shall I stream?
Posted 14 years agoTonight I worked on yet another papercraft design, as usual making many mistakes and creating 3D model oddities. During such mishaps, I thought to myself ‘good thing nobody witnessed what I just did or I would be ridiculed most greatly’, although my thought was less verbose than that. Naturally, the resultant idea that followed was ‘why not stream this and allow myself to be ridiculed in public. In addition, perhaps provide some sort of entertainment value to the viewers’.
So here is the question: if I were to set up some streaming event of me struggling to design a model, would anyone like to watch? I could say something attractive, like I will take requests, but that may be a little beyond my capabilities. I can however, take requests for music to play whilst you watch. ;3
Thoughts, opinions, questions, cookies?

Update, for the lack of a better title
Posted 15 years agoNEW TECHNOLOGY DISCOVERED: Too long; didn’t read (TL; DR) version at bottom for you lazy people.
Some of may have been wonder what’s happening on the Mynx front… probably not but I’ll tell you anyway. I have been endeavouring in the perseverance of academic enlightenment. Or school for those of you who fear big words (like me). That’s it.
Now you may be asking yourself, ‘why did our beloved Mynx here snatch away my precious time I could have used to read other, more scholarly articles like those about the thermal expansion of single crystal turbine blades”. Well firstly this was a physiological test to see if you would even read this far. Secondly I have my final exam tomorrow, and I have reached my study limit. For those wondering, the exam is for Material Science, which deals with the thermal expansion of single crystal turbine blades as well as the profound concept of creep! (Similar to what I do outside your bedroom window at night, but not quite. Involves more SCIENCE.)
For those of you who fell asleep reading the title of this journal, well this will probably not wake you up, but it may cause an ear to flick. I shall be returning to my infamous hobby of papercrafts over the winter break (did I mention, winter break begins after tomorrow’s exam!), meaning more pieces of paper cut out and folded for your to look at. Very exciting, I know.
I’ve encountered quite a few interesting papercrafts to make throughout the pasts months of extreme studious efforts (HA!) which I intend to make, but if you have any suggestions, ideas, concepts, or desperate please, please feel free to mention it. Besides, I do enjoy an occasional, tasty comment. ;3
Oh and if you must spit out your personal woes, you may as well just ignore everything I said and talk about yourself. Tell me what’s going on in your world, in that remote region of (personal) space…
FUN FACT: I should have been asleep an hour ago!
TL; DR version: one more exam before winter break, papercrafts and video games. What’s new? :D

FUN FACT: I should have been asleep an hour ago!
TL; DR version: one more exam before winter break, papercrafts and video games. What’s new? :D

I suggest is using cardstock or something thicker than normal paper and to crease the folds before folding. If you run into any problems, I can always help! :D

I'm gone for a week and colonial ants take over the internet
Posted 15 years agoI miss all the fun, don't I?
Well, I'm back (in red, not black, due to sunburns and copyrights). It was enjoyable; we had the standard cottage things like backyard lakes, swimming, long walks in the forest, motorboats, and with a sprinkle of bugs. Not many flies up this year. Side note: rented cottage, from some people we don't know.
LOTS OF DUCKS! Many of them, and we over-fed them bread, Cheerios and even hotdogs I believe (carnivorous ducks! =U). I found an empty, red shotgun shell, labelled 'Winchester 12 GA AA” on the bottom. My assumption is that it is a 12 gauge shell, potentially used by a sport hunter or an angry farmer. Not related at all, but there also was a beaver swimming in the lake, mostly keeping to itself, far away. And there was this cool painting hanging in the cottage of two wolves, one atop of the other, though I still have not figured out which head belonged to which body (it was nearly an optical illusion I say. Maybe they were just sitting next to each other... argh I can’t figure it out!).
No, I did not think about FA day and night… just some nights… I’m not used to seeing 100+ new messages on a return (I actually crunched numbers and expected to get around 40 new messages… it was a long washroom break). Now, I don’t want to type much more about myself, if you don’t mind. I have games to play, webcomics to read, people to yell at and people to yell at me. Also papercraft and writing projects, not to mention university course selection! GAH!
Anything happen in your week? Please do tell all the elusive details.

Mynx on Vacation
Posted 15 years agoI'll be going up north to a rented cottage for a week, and likely will have limited or no internet access. Most of my projects will be on hold until after, PLEASE DON'T YELL AT ME!
As long as the weather stays nice, I'll see you all in a week. Don't have too much fun without me!
*wonders how much can happen during a week away from the computer*

Ticking away the Moments
Posted 15 years agoThat make up a dull day.
Wasting summer away, but this nothingness is still enjoyable for the time being. Nothing to worry about, aside from the need to get a summer job… >_>
The things I could do right now, but I’m not... Well I’ll try to make a few more custom papercrafts for you crazy furries, maybe. That would give my something productive to do.
Yeah, I totally agree, most boring journal ever. *yawns*

Is summer here yet?
Posted 15 years agoNO!
Needed to post a new journal, I didn't like seeing that 7-month old birthday journal.
Finished first year university. Wheather I passed all my courses is still up in the air (ECE110, you are the the manifestation of evil) but my vacation has now started... But it's not summer yet.
Hopefully I'll be able to finish up some papercrafts, and write upa few things I have been avoiding for the last while. And then comes summer job hunting. Ha, me getting a job. Ha...

Happy Birthday to... me!
Posted 16 years agoSo... as of today, I am officially 18, guess what that means? :3
I can LEGALLY look at mature 'artwork' and such. Though it's still another year before I can legally drink here...
Though I wouldn't expect anyone here to have remembered, as I haven't told anyone.
The big question now is: Will I get free art on this day? :3 Hehe, I'll likely be spending money on art now, seeing as I got a gift card compatible with Paypal...
Time to go off and enjoy what I can of what's left of this rather bland day.
