Posting this to state that one of my major things that I'm planning on doing this year is planning on downsizing the amount of characters in my roster.

I've been looking over the finer points of how often I feel engaged or interested in the character designs in my roster and I'm realizing that there are a lot that I picked up that I simply do not have the interest in using anymore.

As such, I'll be setting up a adopt purge of a lot of them at some point this year, once I figure out appropriate prices for them, since some of them will have accompanying commission pieces that I will likely need to figure out if I can even offer up alongside the designs or if it's best to just sell the reference items and nothing else.

It'll be a solid bit of research to figure out, but that's what I've been considering as a result of it.

I'll post the full list and prices in a separate journal once I get things squared away.

Also leads me into a question of what really spells out a important character concept for people. I have a lot of sporadic character ideas that I often put on the board for ideas, but by the time I actually get around to trying to use them, the idea has long since dried up either due to delays in commissioning, or simply lack of follow-up on my part to finalize things. I've been remedying this lately by hybridizing ideas into one fleshed out character concept, which is likely what I should have done from the start, but I'm curious as to other people's thoughts on this.

May help me grow as things go on. I plan to make this a year of personal growth, and mental processing of creative ideas is one of those things for improvement, so asking for thoughts on that.

Here's to a new year with new possibilities. Hopefully with new goals and new accomplishments in spades.

I need to be more active with myself. Be more active with my work, be more active with my pursuits. I'm not getting any younger, and the only way I'm going to get better with anything is to push forward and try to improve.

Need more push for myself and towards others, I guess.

Normally I'm kind of up and down about the Smash Bros series, but with Ultimate out and just rocking so much, it sucked me in pretty hard. I grew up on Smash Bros, even if it was completely on and off. Still, Happy 20th Anniversary.

I'm actually really eager at this point. First impressions seem pretty good, all things considered, and I'm 100% the most die-hard of die-hard Spyro fans, and I gotta say that first impressions look pretty good.

Just been watching CrystalFissure streaming this announcement all morning, and really excited.

It's still first impressions, and I'm stupid picky about the games, but first impressions seem good.

So, I'm in a bit of a bind on this one. I recently found an artist who does a commission type called "RP Icons" which is exactly the type of icons you would see for a lot of tumblr ask blogs. Thing is, I've been trying to find that artist for a while now, along with any other potentials that might be willing to do a batch like that, because the original artist did these in batches.

Anyone know any artists that do something like that?

I should likely point out that at this point in time, FA is pretty much a display piece for commissioned work or the odd side-bit or two. I haven't put a ton of time into my public writing lately, so I don't have a lot to showcase or type out for posts on here, and that includes character bios listed on ref sheets or such. They're intentionally short as I have that info elsewhere, and it's more to showcase the character and art here. I would implore you to keep that in mind when perusing my characters. I'm more than willing to elaborate on characters if asked, but for the time being, I'm keeping character bios on here intentionally short to save upload time due to busy stuff going on right now with work and such.

At some point in time, I'll go through all of these and update them with the full bios, but they're being kept short purposefully.

I just thought I'd point that out because I've gotten a particularly hateful note recently about my writing prowess, and I wanted to alleviate any concerns that might be present. I still have more to learn about writing and skill, but my short bios on here are more for uploading speed than anything else, like I said.

Got to check out the Birthday showcase in Pokemon Moon. I was moved, especially when I checked on Poke Refresh. My Decidueye was actually singing. Ahhhh.

So many small things that make the day worth it.

I think the biggest problem with reaching out to people, especially successful and talented artists and such, is that even with the most sincere intentions of trying to make a friend, people seem to assume you're trying to mooch off people. That's not what I'm after. If I'm reaching out to you asking how you are and such, I'm legitimately trying to make a friend and trying to be nice. I don't see how I can imply that without that stupid assumption/stereotype coming through, because I'm trying my best to be nice to people and try to make friends at the very least. I just want the opportunity to do so, and there are some people who know this for a fact that I've befriended before.

Not going to buy commissions again for a very long time. If there are request openings or raffles, I will consider those, but I don't plan on buying more commissions for a long time.


You see, for the longest time, I've held this high level of anxiety towards my characters. I've wanted to convey them, but haven't had a means to do so aside from words, text, and some people have a notable challenge figuring that out. So I started sketching and buying commissions of these designs. Then things progressed into more characters, and more characters, and it got out of control to the point where I was spending far more than I needed to and on far more than I really needed in the first place.

It has caused me extensive stress, anxiety, good deals of "what-if" moments, and a lot of art to show for it, but not all of them being pieces I'm proud of. It's a shame, since I want to share my ideas and stories, but I've been held back I think. I've been held back by my own avarice for art, and it's messed with both my writing and my drive. Why sketch when you can just get another artist to do it? Why write a intricate story when you can just prompt it?

It's time for a change, and it's time to make amends and rebuild from what I've destroyed in myself. I'm grateful for the friends I've gained, the relationships I've built, and I'm looking forward to developing more. But I'm going to do it with my own skill and my own talents, not anymore through commissions.

From this point on, I'll be working more on my writing, I'll actually post stories and develop plot points, ideas, thoughts. Hell, I'll even put work into biographical or journal-style pieces that I've been pondering. It's time to be creative again. It's time to have purpose, passion, drive. Something I've been lacking in stride for a very long time.

Why is it when I actually try to reach out to find people who I want to chat with over a specific topic, as in talk shop, there are never people around that I can talk to?

Like, seriously. I can't find anyone who's a massive nerd for Disgaea, Plants vs Zombies, or even more recently, Medievil, Elder Scrolls, and other things of the like. I suppose I'm not looking as hard as I probably could, but it bothers me when I want to talk about something and at the same time have to explain it to people who know nothing about it because I can't find anyone with a nerd-level knowledge on it to talk shop with.

Looking for people to play with. Queueing with randoms and just dicking around randomly half the time gets a little boring. It would be nice to have someone to play with.

Asya Shardich: There's nothing wrong with enjoying the pleasures of the flesh. When you are functionally immortal, you have much time to enjoy both the joys and pleasures of life.

Jessica: A cup of coffee can be bother bitter and sweet, depending on what you put into it. It can perk you up or sooth you. Such is life, depending on what you do in it.

Seras: I always wonder how people think of me, but then again, I care more for those I'm close to than those I stumble across. Does that make me a bad person, or am I just too shy?

Rivion: Size does not mean right. Even those much smaller than you can open your eyes.

Bastion & Sadrian: Bastion: Look, be comfortable with the body you're given. If you find peace in the body you obtain in the future, relish that. Just be comfortable, and the world will notice that.
Sadrian: Treat the world as if it were blind, and you'll find things much easier for a lot of situations. Realize the jewels that your eyes can behold in the world, but understand that physical beauty is not always meaningful.

Alderas: Be a gentleman, even in the most cruel of situations. Sometimes the best results can come when you see through the facades of others.

Adina: A motherly attitude applies in many situations, but the world will not treat you kindly if you aren't willing to be forceful right back when things get hard.

Romero: Why fight? Because there's a thrill in combat, and because there's always another fight to be had.

Trevor: No, I'm not the best looker, but at least I'm happy with who I am....to an extent. I may not be a dominant guy, but I at least know who I am.

Trevinar: Answer me this: at what point do you keep your sanity and at what point do you snap? Everyone has a breaking point.

Doronir: There is a time and a place for everything in life.

Vealan: A hunt is a hunt. I've little reason to be bothered by something like morality when a bloodlust boils in me.

Tyrres: Sometimes you need to go with the flow, other times you conquer it and be yourself.

Weshal Lightbringer: An individual's true self is not what they show you on the surface, it's what lies beneath the skin that shows who they really are.

Adeline: Learn to roll with the wind, and take what life shows you. The wind will carry you to new adventures.

Taven: Life has a way of offering choices you may not even realize, subconscious or not. I don't much mind being offered a choice, but I prefer having some say in how my life progresses.

Serana: Some have called me the "Guardian Angel of the Sands", but really, all I do is try to help those in need. I don't have need for titles, as cute as it sounds.

Trina: It's not power I'm after, or control. I want to make myself and my Pokemon the best we can be, and I may be rough, but I have good intentions at heart.
