Taking a short break
Posted 17 years agoExpect sporadic updating. I'm taking a short break from art. I plan to finish the Jeanette chipmunk sometime relatively soon, but other than that I'll be taking it easy for a little while.
Two of my new year resolutions are to improve some aspect of my work, along with getting into a 4-year college to finish up my bachelors.
Oh yeah, in a smug update - thanks guys for almost 600 favorites over the past 3 days. I'm very glad you like my stuff.
Happy New Year :)

Ultimatum: FA
Posted 17 years agoI know that title sounds threatening but there shall be no drama in this journal.
I do have something to say. FA is never allowed to go down for more than 2 days ever again - my submission box is exploding :). Okay so it's not really a complaint, I just gets to look at a lot of art at once.
And this is the token 'hey there, merry christmas' journal. I finished and posted my reindeer project - and I'm being very 'typical artist' about it. IE. it doesn't please me, but I should stfu.
So yes, Happy Holidays. I hope you get everything you want, and I also hope that the traditional 'family suxxor drama' can be averted for at least one year for a few of ya XD.

Facts and Phenomenamenamena
Posted 17 years agoI have been tagged by
sexymel
Here's the rules: when you're tagged, you have to write in a journal either 2 weird habits, 2 facts, and 2 dislikes, or 6 random, interesting facts about yourself. then you choose 6 people to tag, and leave a note on their user page that they are tagged. If it's someone thats not watching you, then give them the link to your journal with the instructions. And no tag-backs! If someone's already been tagged for this meme, they don't have to respond.
1. Weird Habit: I masterbate frequently. Oh wait, that's not weird, you all do too. Okay lets try that again - I draw furry porn.
2. Weird Habit: I lock the door whenever I leave the house, whether or not people are still at home.
3. FACT: I leveled all my final fantasy characters to level 99 in IV, V, VI, and VII
4. FACT: When I was around 12 I owned this album http://www.amazon.com/Lets-Get-Star.....128&sr=8-5
(if it doesn't show up that's mc hammer's 'let's get it started'. For some reason I thought it would be a good idea to record myself ON the cassette tape singing the songs I liked over MC Hammer.
5. Dislikes: I really hate it when artists go ape-shit when someone copies an idea of theirs or when someone copies their art they go bat-shit insane. Please people - everybody starts with imitation - and frankly nobody is good enough to get bent out of shape over a bit o' the copy pasta'. Instead of going bonkers simply ask that person to credit the character as your creation. Addition: If you ask them nicely to credit you and then they claim the obvious copy as their own - then you may go crazy :3
6. Dislikes: I hate hanging out with people who have no goals in life. I've started hanging out less and less (until nill) with people who like to bitch and complain about their lives - and following said bitching and complaining they put no effort into changing their situation. It's okay to be down on your luck, but if you're down on your luck and bending over to get fucked, don't expect me to coddle you. Fight until you die.
I'm not tagging anyone, I do hope you are happy Mel :3

My eyes they burn! AAAHHH
Posted 18 years agoI don't know what's in the air but they won't stop watering. It's going to be a fun drive down to the school.
Did anybody catch Tin Man last night? I did... I watched it for about 23 minutes before I decided the munch-kins looked gay (and not in the good way that fellow Furre's might appreciate), and that once again a futuristic-steam-soldier-clad-in-way-too-fucking-much-black-leather-making-goth-people -and-emo-kids-jealous-alike theme has been introduced. I dunno - the acting was dry too - I don't think the actors even bought the storyline which further hindered any willing suspension of disbelief on my part. Maybe it'll get better after a few episodes - but first impressions are not good.
Also...my hard cider is done fermenting today, woot! It smells delicious :D. You're invited to come over and get drunk with meh :3

First Swig of New Beer
Posted 18 years agoThe title is relevant. :)
Oh shit, hang on, gotta turn on the itunes.
Nice, 'fuck on the first date'. Anywho, on with the journal.
About 2 weeks ago I was given the gift of mrbeer ( www.mrbeer.com ) and I eagerly jumped into fermenting my first 2 gallons of beer. A week ago the concoction was bottled and fed granulated sugar to start the natural carbonation process. This week I'm drinking the fruits of my labor
Now the first batch of beer is probably going to be everybody's worst. I'm kind of 'meh' on my first batch. It's a bitter beer but has this weird sugary underlining and I can't help but wonder if I needed to let it ferment longer.
Overall it's a tasty beer that gets a huge thumbs-up for providing a fantastic happy-buzz but I think I may have to look for something a little more bitter. A friend of mine has sent me a kit to brew up some hard cider. I'm elated to say the least, I can't wait to get it brewed up and taste my first swig, I'll also be sending out bottles to friends for the holiday that they will hopefully enjoy.
On to RL news. I'm thinking about quitting my job. I've only had this one for 2 months but it involves a lot of traveling around and shit, and the pay isn't really good enough for the 30-50 mile drives to work anywhere from 2-8 hours (it's never set). I'd rather have an average paying job that's more frequent and has more hours in a single location - all that sad I'm a bit apprehensive toward quitting, I don't quit things often - so I'm not used to it and it bothers me a little that this didn't work out so well.
I had a thought about opening up a very cheap pay site for my art, but I need to do more research on it. That and I doubt anybody would pay even a small monthly fee to see it. I love to draw porn - but I have to make a living too. As sad as it seems, directing my attention to drawing boobies and sex is more directly related to my college degree than say working the cashier at the local Home Depot - and in my mind that's way more fulfilling.
There it is.
Until next time,
draw me some boobs,
slackers...

Posted 18 years agoWhat is the name of your character?
Topher
Where did the name of your character come from?
My RL name is Christopher. My nickname is Topher which is taken from the last half of my name. For the better part of a decade I've had the nickname so now I respond to it.
Topher has no last name, he's simply a risen spiritual force within a husk.
What species is your character and why did you choose that species?
Topher is a variation of the Evil Hare from the monster rancher series. I chose this species because at the time I was getting really tired of peoples bullshit lies and manipulation. I started to think more and more that people where inherently cruel to one another, but even so I wanted a character who was bound to save them and ultimately admit that he was also one of them, with weaknesses and inherent wickedness.
Topher's counterpart, Chris (my first name), isn't based on any specific species, he's simply Topher's good side and the exact opposite colors of the evil black hare.
What color is your character and why? Hair/fur/eyes/etc
Hair: None.
Fur: Black, which is a bitch to shade/highlight.
Eyes: Yellow or blue, depending on which side has manifested itself. Topher's yellow eyes are set against black sockets - he's not exactly living while in this form, though he's not specifically undead.
Etc: Topher's fur pattern is exactly the same on Chris - the only thing that changes are the inverted colors.
What is your character's personality and how does this compare to your IRL personality?
Topher
- Vengeful
- A little unstable (ha!)
- Ravenous Sexual Appetite
- Uncaring
Chris
- Shy
- Reserved
- Cheerful
- Friendly
What is one item your character owns that is significant to you IRL?
In both cases this character only owns the ability to think freely. Topher does not own himself.
What is one thing you think you would say to your character if you could meet?
I'd probably nod at Topher, and that would be all.
What is one thing your character would say to you if you could meet?
He'd just look at me with his burning yellow eyes and disregard me as much as he disregards his alternate personality :).
How has your character changed over the years?
When I first drew him he didn't look so evil, but I liked the idea of him being evil so that changed quickly.
How long have you had this character?
about 4 years.
Would you like to be more like your character?
I'd like to tell people that I didn't care about them, but I'm afraid I'm more like Chris than Topher. Topher is the evil motherfucker :D

Tardigradas (update)
Posted 18 years agoOkay this journal has nothing to do with tardigrads, but here's some info on them, http://salinella.bio.uottawa.ca/Dig.....Ch1SectionMcp1 , go and be educated.
UPDATE: Thanks to those that have filled out surveys and sent them back already. I'm headed out to run some errands and will be back later tonight so if anybody would still like to participate I will send you the survey through notes when I get back.
Anyway this journal is a request.
I need at least 30 people to take a survey for me. The final in my sociology class requires that I take a random sampling (via survey) and convey my findings in a report.
You can help me out greatly by taking 5 minutes to take this survey. None of the questions are too personal. I will not ask for your name or how much you make in a year or any of that nonsense. We're currently working on our hypothesis but I wanted to get an early start and have all my surveys done.
So if you're down for a little survey - just say so and I will send it to you in a note.
Thanks,
Topher

Bang Bang Maxwell's Silver Hammer Came Down on her Head

Anyway. Started a new job this week. I am an inventory auditor (I count things). So far it's been a very easy job - hours fly by while the mind swims in numbers and bar codes. There's an occasional 'skew check motherfucker' but the routine is fairly regular and the scenery changes from day to day.
I'm not quite used to waking up at 4/5 am but it should become routine soon enough. For the moment though - I will have money to pay the bills and continue to produce free art at my leisure. The next year will be spent investigating what 4-year college I'd like to transfer to and just where the funds for it will come from.
I saw the Transformer movie today. I have 2 opinions on this movie. The first is that it's great on it's own and I liked it. The second is that it's not the transformers I grew up with (and the first cartoon movie eclipsed this live action POS).
I also saw a movie called 'Flat Land' http://flatlandthemovie.com/ which was very entertaining. Trying to bend your mind around a super-cube with 16 sides is daunting but maybe easier to understand than the dimensions going up to 10 http://video.google.com/videoplay?d.....&plindex=1
This months major task in the art department is that of the Christmas picture and my oil paintings down at the college. The Christmas picture 'should' contain 16 different characters (9 of which still need to be drawn at least in concept).
This weekend I hope to play entirely through Jericho (someone let me borrow it) and design at least 3 of the characters for the christmas picture.
I dig this song... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMm7gqowAO4 .
Aight, I'm tired of boring you (ha, since the first paragraph no doubt). I'm outta here

Posted 18 years agoIf you'd like my AIM name to chat, just NOTE me. I'm not going to give my AIM out to just anybody so if you don't get a reply, don't take it personally.
Good reasons to AIM Lapinstein:
You produce art (or music) regularly.
You want to get to know me
You want to trade or OC
You're a human-being or furry that walks upright and has an average or better IQ (no knuckle dragging for you)
Bad reasons to AIM Lapinstein
You want to make a request (blockage)
You'd like to cyber with me (keep dreaming, and blockage)
You want to try to pretend to be my friend until I just magically gift you with free art (keep dreaming and blockage)
You're a complete dipshit that's very social and doesn't understand that "LOL" is not a period to end a sentence, nor is it a capital letter to begin it.
Anywho. Ta~

October...Fucking....birthdays
Posted 18 years agoI turn 27...(fuck) on the 23rd of October.
I've been thinking things over a lot over the past few months. Things about myself, things about how I operate, what makes me tick, how I respond to those around me and how I carry myself (with 2 legs).
One thing I'm trying to get away from as I age is the abrasive attitude that I've picked up in regards to people believing things differently than myself. In regards to things such as religious practices and sexual preferences I've never felt the need to argue about whether or not those things are right or wrong, in reality it makes little difference to me. However, I'm baited so very easily when someone says they hate something that I genuinely think is awesome.
There's a problem with that mode of thinking. As I've always felt that people should be able to believe what they want to believe, and choose what they want to choose, but sometimes I find myself flung into the pitch black morass - helplessly trudging toward higher ground as I try to take the high road and not falter into a pit of petty name calling and fictional-facts. I find this struggle daunting at times...but I always think back to the respect I have for those who carry themselves maturely and respect the opinions of those around them.
Being 5 minutes from the cusp of an astrological sign is troublesome I might add. The scales of libra try hard to balance my priorities, but that fucking scorpio is circling down below, snapping his claws, and stabbing the air with his venemous tail. I think the true astrological sign could be defined as 'a social hermit' or 'a charming possessive asshole'. ...
Anywho. On the gift side of things this year I have divided the gifts I crave into a few seperate categories:
Realistic: night out with my family and nothing else.
Practical: A sweet job making lots of money (I've been applying my tail off)
Imaginary: Venture Brothers season 3 (please cartoon network), Tiny Toon Adventures on dvd (c'mon you greedy bastards...give it to us, we'll pay)
Perverted: A chick into submissive bondage, cosplay, foreplay, and porn XD
wierd: Multiple orgasms (built-in, none of that 'training to make it happen' shit).
Aight.

Aight.
The cake is a lie
Posted 18 years agoI picked up The Orange Box on saturday.
The first thing to do was go through half-life 2 (for probably the 5th time). Let me just say that achievements (even these fairly easy ones) bring the game back to life for me. I was probably the 1% that felt about Half-life 2 the way that some people feel about Halo 3 - lots of hype...but I didn't feel fulfilled. However, with the achievements I changing my tune, I really enjoyed it this time through. Beat it in about 8 hours.
I haven't gone through episode 1 or 2 yet, but I will...I kind of...sort of...had to play through portal.
PORTAL. OH MY GOD. 3 hours of just fucking awesome. I know that some people will bitch and complain about the length (even though more things to do are unlocked after you beat it), but I felt more fulfilled and challenged during those 3 hours than in any other game that comes to memory over the past year. The game was an absolute trip with it's sinister undertones and diabolical...well...I'd hate to ruin it if you haven't played it. Portal 2? PLZ? kkthx la and the ending song...
Lulz ending credits mp3

Haven't gotten any TF2 time in, I don't have a gold membership for my 360. Soon though, my precious...

Taste in women meme
Posted 18 years agoAlright, just a fun little excersize I thought up. Basically you take the formula I give you here, found through SCIENCE, run the numbers, and the total is what is reffered to at the Standard Creepiness Rule, or the Do not date under this age line.
Since I am 26, my minimum dating target should be no lower than 20.
The formula is ((your age / 2) +7)
So for those who are not math savvy, my formula looked like this: ((26 / 2)=13) and then I add 7 to that, rounding up, since cops don't care if "she's only 6 months from being 18!
Once you fill this out, tag 4 people and have them spread this meme!
hehe no :D

Bio...shocking
Posted 18 years agoShwee, I beat Bioshock this morning.
I'll just say it now: This is my opinion. Go fuck yourself if you don't like it :D
Pretty good game overall. I'm not really into the mutant-type games (or post apocalyptic) but I think Bioshock kicked some major ass by making the game take place in 1946 and combining the kind of propaganda that was popular during that era into the game.
The storyline isn't really that exciting. There is one turning point where it comes pretty close to being awesome, but it kind of limps along after that.
I plan to go through it again as a wrench-monkey (powering up the wrench as much as possible) and sucking the little Adam-Wenches dry until they pass away. The first time through I was grooving on the crossbow (ala the crossbow from half-life, it even has arrows that look molten).
Enemies in the game run together after a short period of time, which works well with the games atmosphere (there where only people in this city afterall). What's there is pretty good - but more variation in their manner of dress would only have made it better.
Spoiler Alert:
I had a problem with the photography that's presented in the game. As mentioned above, the character variation isn't all that great, this makes gathering information a chore as you'll often just run into a room and start snapping pictures like crazy. It's not easy to distinguish between the different 'classes' of 'Adam-heads' and the game doesn't do a good job explaining that you'll have to snap shots of a different enemy every time you want to raise your 'research' score.
There's a point toward the end where you gear yourself up like a big daddy. This is probably the most annoying part of the game. They totally fuck up the immersion. First they put a 'hole' around your screen (simulating that you're in the big daddy suit) which is distracting. At this point you're supposed to be in the suit, but the arms of your character on the guns is uncovered by the big and hefty gloves of the Big Daddy. So it looks like you put on the helmet but not the suit. At this point you probably look like a retard in a turtle neck sweater running around with a big heavy helmet on.
Combine that with a couple of conundrums in the storyline that don't make sense:
At the beginning of the game you're confronted by a guy called 'Atlas' toward the end of the game he turns out to be your enemy. At this point they decided to change his voice (apparently he was pretending to be Irish so you'd trust him) - but this is a pretty dumb considering you come to Rapture having no idea who he is, why would he disguise his voice?
Also, later on you are told that your character will 'do as he's told like a whipped dog' as long as someone asks him to 'will you kindly -'. This makes it even more weird that Atlas would disguise his voice when all he has to do is say the magic words and you'll ask 'how-high?'.
I was disappointed with a few achievement points that just did not feel like 'achievements'. For example, 'Defeat Ryan' involves you going through a cut scene where your character beats the shit out of Ryan and you watch. Also defeating Atlas isn't very satisfying but you are awarded 100 achievement points for essentially 'hitting him 4 times' and he keels over.
I've only seen one ending (if there are indeed two) but it sends a few weird messages. Like - does your character really marry 7 of the little girls? That's kind of the impression it gives - but it could easily be that they married other people, or those are your daughters. It's very short and brief - and I wish they had given more information.
A lot of storytelling in games seems to be afraid to tell a story that's objective to the character, but I do not agree with the kind of 'vivid-image' storytelling that we see a lot today. Why should I care about a character I know very little about?
Your character in Bioshock starts as a farm-boy, finds out that he's a biological weapon, and then lives happily ever after. I think I just wanted more meat to chew on than that.
The game isn't short, it took about 10 hours to get through. Overall a kick ass game.

Holy cow. That's quite a warm-reception for two very cool horses. Just to let you guys know, I'll never top this. Expect crap for like the rest of the year hahaha. For those of you who aren't into numbers or don't obsess over my gallery (as I do, because I'm curious about how people react to things). This picture has the most favorites in my gallery. Followed closely by 'she's excercising' at 104.
I have plans to do a Halloween picture in time for... Halloween. Will it be porn? Naw she's about dressing up in costumes. I'm working on several water colors and oil paintings irl too. The oil paintings are being done on both stretched-canvas and wood (my first time on wood, I'm stoked).
The official ending tally for Katt Monroe is Purple: 11 Black 16. All in all a pretty close vote (I think the way I drew them may have swayed the vote a little) which isn't to say I drew them well, but a sexier pose seems to have boosted black Katt Monroe up by 5 votes.
I keep thinking I want to do gummy-bear porn...but...but...goddamnit, there's so much more shit to do >.< both irl and here on the web.
I'm enjoying art, tremendously lately. It's really thanks to you guys, and a few of the friends I chat with on AIM. Encouragement and reception have been abundant.
I'd like to thank Amber and Shaw for their honest critiques of my work. People could learn a lot about critiques from these two. For those who don't know, doing a critique does not mean you're a detail hungry asshole - it's at that point that the artist will know that you're full of shit, but things like shaw's 'The leg looks too high' and Ambers 'Yes, I would bang her' have helped tremendously.
The road ahead is tough. Even though I'm glad that the art is well received, there is still progress to be made. I had been at a plateau without much improvement for some time.
Yes, I know, listen to Lapinstein on his soap box, set up on his golden alter, where he smugly brags about how he feels. Goddamn him for being a person that's proud of his work, the prick. What can I say? I am proud of myself :3
