Worst Online Comics of all time (pissing contest)

I admit it. I'm an infernal denizen (lulz MTG) of the internet.
I exist in a virtual hovel that has all the accoutrement's necessary to keep a hobbit such as myself entertained whenever it is needed.
Ah the train of thought has already derailed. Keep reading dear friend we're attempting to rebuild the track.
Anyway, back to the title of the journal. I want to know what you guys think the worst online comic is. I've been reading online comics for years now. I started with Living in Greytown and eventually found my way to vgcats and penny-arcade.
Here's an example of what I'm expecting to see in a nomination (at the same time, I am nominating this comic as my 'worst comic of all time' entry).

The comic tries very hard to be funny but fails 95% of the time. Every comic is accompanied by a forum post in which the artist 'Woody' tries to explain to us why we should find it amusing.
Themes and recurring characters in this comic include 'Mr. Poopy, the mmorpg fly zapper, and Ted (Woody's fictional room mate/alternate personality).
--Mr Poopy is something the artist uses whenever he doesn't 'feel' like drawing a comic. Indeed Mr. Poopy is so horribly drawn and unfunny that whenever a comic with him in it is posted you will find yourself wishing that he did not post a comic. Mission Accomplished.
--The MMORPG fly zapper sounds funny enough until you've seen it for the 400th time as Woody consistently falls back to the old (tired) joke.
--Ted is a made up character and Woody's room mate. In my mind this character is pretty much an attempt to be 'like' 'Penny Arcade". Ted's antics are often retarded and rarely funny (perhaps because the writing is so bland). Basically if you wrote a story and threw in random shit like shoving pineapples up your ass or dressing up like Micky Mouse and orally pleasuring a wii mote, you'd have an adequate comparison to the character Ted and what he does.
In closing Gucomics is a horrible comic that strives to be funny but fails miserably. Bland characters, horribly unfunny one liners, and an 'explanation' for every comic in case (and inevitably when) you don't get it.
Of course...yours doesn't have to be as detailed - but I wanted to make sure you knew that I actually read this piece of shit before I posted it :D.
Now I want to know what you guys think is awful. Have at it.

I'm home from work. Yay!
I picked up my kitty from the vet. He's fine and recovering. He had a few things wrong with him, He ... did have an abscess on his face. There was little doubt of that to begin with. The vet told me he had a fever too :. Poor cat. Anywho, we got him fixed up and asked them if they would neuter him while he was down there.
All in all it cost $305. Hopefully though the lack of a desire to prowl will keep the injuries to a minimum. I also went ahead and payed for any shots he needed (rabies etc).
I got my signed Angry Video Game Nerd dvd today, and I also recieved my rated 'F' for f**ckballs shirt :). I'm about to pop the dvd in and I wore the shirt to work (it got some laughs so it was worth it).
Overall a good day. I probably won't be able to buy the monitor I had been saving for now - but having a healthy pussy cat is worth it. Besides, I'll get it next month. TTFN

I just can't get to sleep right now. I got about half an hour of sleep before I was awakened by the sound of pained meowing.
That's right! My cat, Scamp, is going to the vet yet again. A couple of months ago he went to the vet because he got an abscess just above his tail and he came home with a shaved ass, about 18 stitches, and a load of healing ahead of him.
This time he went out and apparently got into a fight with some animal. He came home with a chunk of fur missing on his head, and a nasty wound on his face. I had been nursing him trying to get him back to health but he stopped eating and could only drink. This morning it burst open and got blood everywhere, it had the familiar smell of decay from the abscess he had.
I just now started working again so the little shit has effectively spent a ton of my next paycheck and possibly my tax return. See - his prowling has earned him a date with a neutering, which is going to be added on top of whatever it takes to get him back to health in the first place.
So in a nutshell (lol punny) I'm really sleepy and that is why.

Before I went to work I successfully put together my sisters boyfriends computer. It ran like a dream. 80 gig hd, 2.2 ghz AMD socket 2 athlon, 2 gigs ram, dvd rom, and an 8500 GT. Total cost was only $330. It's asus motherboard was a challenge. It was an open box so it didn't come with any cables, driver software, or manuals.
The video card on my computer has officially gone tits up. There are red lines all over the screen and 3d games are unplayable. These are the tell-tale signs of your video card crapping out on you. Come Monday I'll be ordering a new vid card so drawing won't be such a test of my patience.
I ordered a signed copy of the AVGN dvd yesterday and a new shirt (rated F, for fuckballs). I can't wait to get them.
Now I think I'll go pass out. Caio

Nothing actually, I just wanted to get your attention. PS: that title is also my favorite KMFDM album.
I got payed today. Hell ya. I've been thinking about what to spend my money on. I want the bully remake for the Xbox360 (I didn't get to play it on ps2) but I can wait for that.
I guess I'll commit the ultimate in blasphemy and say that I won't be buying SSBB right away. 'Oh my god, Topher is an asshole he hates Nintendo!!!!". No my friends, I do not hate that which has shaped much of my childhood memories. I just read the single player adventure is very shallow - and as much as brawl is a multi-player game - I would really like it to be able to entertain me when I'm feeling like my usual hermit self.
I am glad to see that like, 1 out of every 2 journal entries in the past week has been about the game. That obviously means it's fantastic.
I also want to buy a new 28" monitor and a new video card for my poor computer. I also want to pick up a 1 TB SATA drive to back up all my files on and possibly get rid of this 80 gig that's kind of crapping out on me.
I could....dare I say it, finish my commissions this weekend. Which would be uber fantastic :).
Oh what else...these ramblings are hardly boring enough. Oh yes. While working my mind keeps drifting to different ideas on what to draw and write about.
For instance the other day my crappy eyesight was playing tricks on me. The slow rhythmic thud of the dryer they have in the dispenser room sounds like a lost soul pounding on the walls. It has an odd habit of getting stronger and stronger whenever you near the machine (obviously as you get near it it becomes louder). In the back near the end of the dark hall you'll often hear voices and objects being moved around. Chairs, racks, and ladders are all moved. Of course this is nothing more than the people at the dollar store next door doing inventory.
While walking up the hall a bright white dot caught my eye on the floor. It appeared so quickly within my peripheral vision that it looked like the ceiling had melted and was now dripping all over the floor. Very peculiar. I moved to the front of the place and started to mop and from the front of the store you can get a clear shot all the way to the back of the building down a long narrow hall. It's about 250 feet away - and that's where my vision gets really blurry. I thought about how it would look if some large demonic bull was at the end of that hall making ready to charge through the building and myself, cleaving the whole place into two pieces.
I often think about monsters while I'm there. Today it was raining outside and I thought 'how fucking freaky would it be, to have a really spooky monster that likes to look into windows, staring at people. And when it makes noise it sounds like falling rain - so of course it's hapless victims open up the shade to look at the rain only to see the large black soulless eyes of the monster that will consume them'.
Also tonight I was thinking about my character, Nexus, and Nova. I must be an underachiever, or it may just be my low self-esteem (atm), but the thought of doing a comic is a big deal to me - and I'd love to do it. I'm a little scared off knowing the limits of my own ability in anatomy and presentation (yes, design majors, I hear you :P). I think it would be great to do just a short 5-10 pages of their interaction. Topher sneaking in on Nova in the shower while nexus is down the hall reading, ...until the noise makes her investigate. ^___^;.
In either case. It's a big enough journal. I figure this weekend between commission work I'll go see 'Horace hears a who' and draw pr0nz of it. Unless I find something else from the 80's that I feel like violating.

cleaning up after girls and my grading system

Dave Chapelle: Custodian, DICK.
Whatever. Basically I work at a hair salon (owned by a community college) and I go in at night to empty trash, vacuum, mop floors, and clean bathrooms. It's an easy job - and the girls do a pretty good job of picking up after themselves (and sometimes a not so good job).
Ladies, you really should take a guy into a bathroom with you if he's never been. Your 'gift boxes' will be a mystery to a lot of them.
Anyway, while I was working tonight I was thinking about grading systems in school, and how much I'd love it if they upgraded it to be more 'modern'. The coming of the internet should make these terms recognizable to anyone.
So I thought it might go something like this.

Posted 17 years agoNote to those with commissions: I hope to have them all done by friday. New job starts today so I'll be training into it and working to get your pictures done. Thank you for your patience ^__^.
2 Movies on my mind as I pine the hours away in thought waiting for the melatonin to kick in.
The first we went to see on Sunday - The Spiderwick Chronicles. I never read the books - which I'm sure are absolutely fascinating. The movie was pretty good overall. I think when the flower fairies where shown I leaned over to my mom and said 'every girl in this theater just fell in love'. As the words left my mouth the little girl behind us says 'MOM!!!!'. Little kids are great to see movies with. The goblins...do something to the house - and one of the characters says 'where are they!?" and a little boy in front of us says 'They're on the roof!".
I don't think I'd pick it up on dvd - it didn't really captivate me. It had funny moments, dramatic moments, it brought a tear to my eye (wut? :P), and there was quite a bit of fantasy mingled in...or was there? As with all book to movie translations the content is watered down.
Second movie was '3:10 to Yuma'. I can't say this movie pleased me at all. It strikes me as the kind of movie that film-makers and film-teachers will crawl all over themselves (drooling if they must) to show to eager film-students. Look at how they angled the camera here and what do you suppose the reason is for doing that? What does this say about blah blah blah's inner feelings? what about his book sketches?
I was expecting more. You have a hero that doesn't want to be a hero, he's trying to prove that his whole worthless existence is worth it by teaching his sons how to live and become proper men. You have a villain that is rotten to the core of his twisted black soul whom has an unreal change of heart toward the end of the movie, which prompts him to kill his entire posse.
Nothing satisfies. The hero/war hero NEVER raised his gun and proved to me that he deserved the secret hope that I had inside that he would pick up the pieces, and later proves just how pathetic he is. The villain proves to be a real son of a bitch that both helps and kills his captors. The hero gets screwed, the villain never gets what he deserves, and the whole thing just rang hollow with me. You got a cold blooded murderer that passes up the chance to escape more than a few times, kills his entire posse for trying to free him, and then ultimately turns himself in because he feels...what? Benevolence for some piss-ant rancher that's a huge loser?
I know...the rancher had the biggest balls of all of them...sure. It just doesn't stick because the villain puts him in this submissive position that makes his triumph seem empty...unreal...undeserved.
Okay...I think that's it. I can sleep now XD

but the words will not come
I suppose I don't feel enough remorse
nor enough sorrow
I don't know where my head is tonight. I should be sleeping right? Maybe I shouldn't have drank so much root beer. I had an excitingly average day. I got to socialize with 2 of my favorite relatives. My sister and her boyfriend. My first favorites being my mother and father of course - though they are still down at the hospital.
Speaking of which...The last update I got would seem to imply that it went without a hitch (though the doctor forgot to do something for his diabetes that was dangerous that was scary for a little while... though I don't have all the details).
I would like to extend thanks to all who posted on that journal with support. I appreciate it. As per usual, expressing such a thing in text never has exactly the same heart-felt sincerity of doing it in person. Words have moved me to tears before so I guess it's not entirely impossible.
Also I'd like to thank those few who expressed feelings of sincerity toward their own predicaments. It's hard to say things like that. You make me want to keep trying my best in everything I do. That kind of honesty is impressive, admirable, and courageous. I hope from the depths of my shriveled little heart that everything goes smoothly for you and yours during the long haul.
Next! Valentines day. Oh woeful fucking day...shit - it's Nofoa's birthday I will have to draw him something. Shit it's Valentines day - I better draw something for the viewers. I dunno, have you guys been good? You seem like a downright mischieveous bunch. OH YES, YOU TWO GIRLS IN THE BACK GIGGLING -- YOU'RE THE WORST.

Gastric Bypass Surgery
Posted 17 years agoBeen up since 4:30 am. I was seeing my dad off. He's on his way to get Gastric Bypass Surgery.
I don't know...surgery makes me uneasy. This isn't a major operation by any means - but for him it's a radical change. He's a large guy, about 2 inches taller than me at 5'11". He weighs over 350 lbs. I do hope that this helps him to settle into a more healthy way of living.
He was embarrassed because my mother was showing my brother and I his 'before' pictures. It's like looking at a newborn baby, seeing your father in nothing but his underwear, huge stomach and all. I feel more embarrassed for him about his eating problem - the pictures weren't a big deal for me.
Due to the insensitive nature of the internet I suspect there will be many an unseasoned whelp that will present himself (in all his ass-hattery) as a general purveyor and possessor of limited knowledge - decreeing that it is simple enough to 'put the fork down'. I am here to state the obvious that unless you have seen it, you have no idea.
I don't pray for people - I don't believe that an unreasonable belief system can control destiny. Instead I believe in human kind. The ability for people to do what is right. So I won't pray that he will be okay. My trust will rest with his doctors.
This journal is for my father. Good luck old man. May you have the will and integrity.

Superbowl SUNDAY - some inane commentary

As you may, or may not know, I have been watching football all season as if my life depended on it.
I'm a Seahawks fan (fuck you if you don't respect that), I love my team, through thick and thin. Though they lost in Green Bay - I respect the packers, they played an excellent game, but I still carry pride that we made it to the play offs.
This particular Super Bowl is kind of a crap shoot for a fan of football in general. Do you cheer for New England that cheated at the beginning of the season - driving them to a 'perfect' record? Something inside of me really doesn't want to see someone get a perfect record while having a few games thrown in their favor from 'shady' play reading.
Do you cheer for the New York Giants who could win a game for fans that boo'ed them off the field all year long, fans who didn't appreciate or give a shit about their team until they where winners? These guys are out to win it for themselves - who else are they driving so hard for? THE FANS? I don't think so.
Anywho - best of luck to your team if it's in the Super Bowl this year. It's going to be a good 'un. :3

As you may or may not recall, a while ago I said I was taking a break from art. Indeed that sentiment was exactly true - yet I've been submitting things anyway.
It seems it's just something I cannot keep myself away from. I go without art for a few days and I must draw. I'm still considering just what about my art that I'd like to change this year. I greater sense of detail...maybe? I think the one thing I hate the most about my art is it's simplicity and repetition.
There's a lot of depth in other peoples art that makes me jealous. Line work, color, overall composition...IE - their design skills are much higher than my own. I might attribute this to drawing so huge on my computer screen that often the character is bigger than what I can see...making it difficult to plan out ahead of time. This year...I want to focus on 3 things. Overall design, backgrounds, and a greater amount of detail in my figure drawing.
This all means nothing to you guys for the most part. What I like to draw for FA is cheesecake - I am a man (I'm 40...j/k - but kudos if you get the reference :) ) - that's just something I enjoy drawing very much. So you'll probably never seen experimentation into new things (though poses are something i want to work on too).
A note to those who would like to OC with me in the future. Please note me details on how to contact you via AIM or MSN and we can arrange something. I'm not interested in hosting oc sessions where people don't participate so unless you're going to draw, please don't pester me - I appreciate your enthusiasm, but art is a learning experience and I have much to learn.
Anywho - is the break over? Naw I figure I'll be on this break for a little while longer yet while I'm hunting for a job that doesn't suck (though I may get hired soon as a cashier...something I really don't want to do). Till then...sporadic updates on random crap.

Mass Effect, bullet witch
Posted 17 years agoNofoa let me borrow Mass Effect over the holidays and I finally played through it on the weekend. Overall I really liked the game. It's almost exactly like the KOTOR series (which is a plus). I was rather unimpressed with all the side mission bullshit they have you do - most of it is just gathering minerals and crap and it gets tedious after a while.
Anywho, the main story was awesome and I really hope there is a sequel. Maybe I'm biased but I like my American and English RPG's way more than the JRPG stuff we get in abundance.
Today I went through Bullet Witch. Luckily we got it in the bargain bin at a heavy discount. To quote the nerd 'this game is horrible'. The enemies are stupid, your allies are stupid, the levels are boring, the main character is a depressing chick that you never really give two shits about by the end, and the story is predictable. Factor in weapon upgrades that don't really upgrade your gun, the game pausing with cinematics every time you cast a spell, and the enemies uncanny ability to still pound on you as your casting (resulting in your death), and you've got one huge shitload of fuck that'll have you screaming at the top of your lungs, threatening to smash your screen with the controller, and lamenting the moment you picked the game up.
Happy new year once again. I'm almost feeling artsy again, yay! I got an idea for Jeanettes skimpy outfit in her picture...so...
