Imagine Dragons
Posted a year agoDragoneer is practically legendary in my head-cannon for FA.
I'm glad this place exists, it gave me a refuge to find people who would enjoy furry art, when I was still on DeviantArt being unhappy there.
I only ever got to interact with him briefly over notes a few times, he seemed like a real good dude. I'm appreciative of what he's done, and saddened to know he's gone.
So I just wanted to say my piece about him briefly since we weren't close or anything, but I feel like he deserves at least a little something.

Posted a year agoIt's probably a little obvious by now but I'm taking a bit of a break from submitting things.
Thanks for understanding. I'll put some stuff in when I'm feeling alright about art again.

Hey Friend how's it going?
Posted 3 years agoIt's been a while since I've written a journal.
Lots happened in the past few years. I'm kind of a college drop out. The fact that I'm pretty good at math, but then don't use it for 15 years solid, and am required to learn it all over again to get anywhere caught up with me.
So I need to get back and just finish up any old degree. Tbh when I was a young guy I wanted to be an animator. I still wouldn't mind learning. What do I want to be now? I dunno I just wanna fuckin' pay bills and have enough time to keep expressing myself on paper.
I guess I need to just do it sometime eh? Also I'm a bit conflicted about how much work to put into furry art. I love it, I love creating it, but I need to expand my skillset. Deciding what that is is a pain in the ass. I don't do stuff for monetary gain. I have a steady 40 hour a week job.
And don't be alarmed by that, it doesn't mean commissions will never open again. I'd love to take them again at some point. I'm more inclined just to know what you guys think I should draw.
Like one of my favorite things is just going down the furry waifu list and hitting the highlights, but a part of me wants to keep doing obscure shit because that's fun for me.
I know I do static posing and shit a lot, and maybe I should do more sexy stuff, and I could.
I don't know if you other artists or creatives ever feel like maybe we're just pandering for attention. For some people that's totally okay. For people like me fuck, I don't wanna dance like a monkey for attention. I just wanna do what's fun for me.
So this is the annual 'thank you' for letting me be me. Thank you for liking the art, if you do. Thank you for being a friiiiend (ah golden girls). I appreciate the comments you leave friends. You truley are a breath of fresh air to me.

New Poll up on the Twitter
Posted 6 years agoAdult Games on Steam
Posted 6 years agoHey guys. I just want to throw it out there that Monster Girl Island: Prologue on steam is a pretty darn good porn game.
I've payed and played quite a few (not a ton, but a few) and most of these adult games suck. They either A) try to be a complex game or B) aren't sexy.
However at the price of FREE on steam and being hot in places with basic dialogue, likable characters, and being just kind of chill - I think I'd say it's really a top-shelf porn game. Really hoping there's more of it and hell I'd even throw money at it.
Anyway, just my 2 cents. If you have some favs let me know what they are. Also I'm keeping an eye on Subverse which seems to have potential.

You and I and Shinies what it means for our relationship
Posted 6 years agoThere, doesn't that sound like a really intimate conversation? the journal title.
Now I know that the talk of this tipping malarkey will make a few not click this journal that's fine.
I expect 0$ in tips, so if you feel so inclined you may tip me. If you want to make a suggestion for drawing that's cool too, just keep in mind I'm a full time student and full-time employee, so there are caveats.
There ya go, the option is there. Got a three day weekend coming up. Looking forward to a bit of vacation soon. Cheers.

Biggest Inspirations
Posted 6 years agoHey guys, I got about 30 minutes until work starts. I just thought it would be cool to post some stuff I wanted to share.
My biggest 'furry artist' inspirations are Michele Light and Eric Schwartz. This is 'all time' as in, I saw their stuff and it blew me away.
You might notice that my art doesn't much mimic theirs, as I studied out of books rather than copying styles.
That being said I'd really love to copy some styles. Michele's art feels very minimalist to me. Which I think is my way of saying it probably looks more cartoony. Which I love. Schwartz is a bit harder for me to pin down. I want to say it's Bluthesque with some disney in it, but fuckin' hot. XD
Lately the most inspiring artist is Inuki. I Feel like she gets that kind of big eyed, cute, round, sexy everything stuff right. If I were to want to take a style and integrate it into my own, I think that's the direction I'd lean. I'd also throw in as a generalization the artist 'Disney'. You know what I mean. Specifically all of their animated features with animal people. I just fukken love it, and I've been trying to emulate it more and more.
Semester ends in 3 weeks, hoping to do some streaming when that happens. Take care.

The Dog Days of Adulting
Posted 6 years agoI believe in an art post I made about a month ago going over the year of 2018 I mentioned that school is coming.
I was looking at my FA today and the submission times of my last few things. 1 month, 6 months. Ouch.
Well I have talked a lot in the past about looking for a house. Turns out I couldn't really afford one. I got a new job where I make more money. I can afford a house now - however, I am not satisfied where I am at this point.
All of this has lead to going back to college. See - I have an associates degree in fine arts and sciences. Something I ultimately wanted to use to study animation. The reality of my path in life is a bit different from this dream.
I'm not saying that you shouldn't pursue the things you love - but necessity is kind of dictating what I should do right now. I live in Washington State - and there's a bit of a housing crisis here. Shit costs too much to buy. Right now my girlfriend and I are renting - and guess what? Today is moving day. The owners have decided to sell this house - because why not? It's only worth like 40k but I'm sure the desperate market will mark that up to 350k.
All of this while I'm online going back to school. I work full time. I probably made a mistake taking Physics and Trig. Physics has kind of been pushed aside because Trig has quite the learning curve to it (HUHUHU, radians).
I've doodled here and there, and for fucks sake I miss doing art, but this Bachelors in Computer Sciences isn't going to earn itself.
Anyway - so that's where most of my free time goes now. Studying - and now moving. Carving out my niche on this rock.
Hopefully when it's all settled down - I'll have some of my free time back :)
Cheers

not focused
Posted 8 years agoAh man, time between art just keeps getting longer and longer.
Still looking for a damned house after 2 years (lol) and now I have a deadline so it's stressin me a bit. Still drawing at work, but haven't really felt like sitting down on a weekend and cranking anything out lately.
I'm putting thought into the type of art I'm doing, and how I want to change media.Hopefully soon I can make a change, that would be rad. Anyway, cheers.

Learning from studying other art styles
Posted 8 years agoSo I have kind of been on a role 34 and 63 tear for a while now.
I'm kind of just enjoying studying other people's work while mashing it with my own. I feel like I'm learning some valuable lessons in the process. There's also some kind of desire I have to take a challenging thing and make it beautiful, like a puzzle.
Like I would love to do some Bucky o'hare stuff. I need to watch that show on DVD at some point.
I recently drew some Garfield and Odie 63 that turned out awesome. These are in my sketchbook, I hope to do a digital version soon, as I don't usually share my pencil work.
I also would like to attempt to make a dirty picture at some point, I enjoy meandering in simple poses and stuff too much probably, I dunno.

Edits of my work online
Posted 8 years agoHey guys.
it's been brought to my attention that some of my work has been edited online. Adding dicks and stuff.
I'm not an unreasonable person and I'm not foolish enough to think that putting my art up for free wouldn't cause these kind of things to occur.
I would like to thank anybody who mods my art for leaving the credit to me (My signature and page link) on the picture. That's really cool of you (no sarcasm: it has been left on there which I appreciate). This brings more attention to my art, which I always like, I wouldn't be doing it if I didn't want people to see it.
Just a note to folks who show up thinking I draw futa and stuff all the time. Just know that I don't really do that, but I'm sure that if you wait long enough someone could make that happen for you. I'm a pin-up artist first.
Anyway, enjoy the internet.

What to work on
Posted 8 years agoI haven't done one of these in forever.
I think in the past I used to say 'backgrounds' and composition.
I'd like to continue to work on composition as a whole, but I think I'm okay with backgrounds for now (at least simple ones).
Honestly I have been working on face structuring for quite a while now, maybe a year or 2.
I guess it could be helpful if i used some kind of line system or whatever. I usually have to pound out a way in my mind, that makes sense to me, and then commit to it. I'm taking the hard way though, I should just 'use a simple system and stick to it' since repetition will make it easier in the long run.
The Toriel picture went over exceptionally well. Much to my chagrin, since I'm often vexxed by how simple a picture can be - and yet be so effective. This is all a mystery to me. I recon I will be figuring this all out until the end of my days.
Prolly love every minute of it too.

Posted 8 years agohttps://www.amazon.com/Nigmus-Onlin.....s=noah+barnett
picked this up about a week or two ago. Minor spelling mistakes, but so far I'm really enjoying the story. Check it out if you're interested.
Expect art sometime in the next month. I've been active, just lazy and busy.

Ha ha oh crap it's already September
Posted 9 years agoProduction of art has slowed to a crawl. The reason is simple, I have become the Salieri to my own Mozart. I suppose that can be taken a few ways, I probably have it backwards, I am the Mozart to my Salieri. Try as I might I'm not quite meeting that standard that I want to. All people plateau at some point, I think this has been the worst so far for me
Still confident, still working at it. Getting serious about house hunting lately, football is starting, legion came out too. Lots to do, but my mind is still on the next artistic step, even if it's a small thing I wonder what it will be. Better hand/knee/foot construction possibly?
Anyway, probably post some cheese that's been done in streams. Check out picarto.com/LapinsteinTV and follow. Hopefully I'll see ya sometime

Been working at it but not submitting
Posted 9 years agoHi there.
I have drawn quite a bit in the past few weeks, but haven't been submitting. Largely due to a stint of depression caused by my father. Without getting too deep into it, I just don't get along with the old fucker. Even if I do love him, he really knows how to just really screw things up between us.
I have drawn Miss Bianca, Miss Kittymouse, Sashi as Harley Quinn, Disdain, 2 pictures of Brandy the unreleased space opossum (When I'm happy with her I will), and sally acorn. I'm tempted to do Celestia and Timothy the mouse from dumbo again (although I did do a second timothy, I also did not submit this one, I couldn't finish it).
This weeks starts a new schedule at work for me, so I'll get 3 day weekends WOOHOO. Same amount of hours though so longer days.
Hope you guys have a great summer. I'll be around. Doing stuff.

Sketches that haven't been submitted
Posted 9 years agoIt's kind of funny how busy life can get. I've had like 4 pictures in the can and haven't posted any of them.
So I've developed a new character it is an opossum named Brandy who is part of the opossum Space Program, because I don't know I just thought it was neat. I sketched a pretty cute picture Persian this morning. I did a second rule 63 picture for Timothy from Dumbo.
Also did a picture of Izzy that shaw owns and his hyena girl whose name I can't remember.
I did most of these pictures on my picarto stream. Www.picarto.tv/lapinsteintv I believe is the url.
I have been brewing beer lately, thought it would be cool to design a beer label of some sort, so maybe that'll happen. I want a lot of stuff right now, hrngh. Wallet is hungry for cash, so I've also been doing quite a bit of overtime at work.
Feel a bit overwhelmed lately, I scheduled a week of vacation in May, but even then i have a lot that needs doing. Being an adult sucks sometimes, but I'm acclimated to it thoroughly now.
Anyway, take care, hopefully submit some stuff soon.

Posted 9 years agoY'know. I've been rockin' a Cintiq 12wx for a while now. I have my eye on some 22inch alternatives. I really love big drawing spaces, not to mention the 12wx's color is absolutely whack.
So, in an effort to help pay for such a thing, if time allows, perhaps commissions are coming. I know dear friends. This doesn't happen to often, and I'm tired as fuck from my work day, so when I'm more awake and more energetic I could make a decision on this.
I've got an eye on this http://www.amazon.com/Yiynova-MVP22.....rds=yiynova+22 but more research is probably required.
Hope you guys are enjoying the latest art. Caio

Posted 10 years agoI've been in California for 2 weeks. Spent way too much money, saw tons of stuff, went to disneyland/california adventures, toured the stone brewery in Escondido, the Museum of Man in San Diego next to balboa park. My girlfriend orchestrated the whole thing. Makes my life so easy, Thanks darling.
Anyway I'll be going home on Saturday, then right back to work. Christmas Vacation in 2 weeks, I'll be off for 2 weeks and I'll be looking to make some dough to help pay for the trip. So, look for possible YCH's or commissions. Can't make any promises I'm afraid, it is a very busy family time, we'll see :)
