The response on Bluesky for posts calling for action on the proposed anti-porn bills has been staggering!! Over 1k in likes and over 1.2k in reposts, with many people sharing additional info on where to find contact info for local, state and national representatives, senators and legislators, and information about the bills themselves.
The bad news is that these bills are unfortunately not dead yet; And e621 has already been banned in at least one state. It's a precarious reminder of how dangerous these bills are not just to creators and enjoyers, but to art archival efforts and preservation. My heart cries for those who presented their legendary works on an iconic platform. But this is NOT the end!!
The GOOD news is as follows:
Bills such as those mentioned in the above message, notably KOSA and IODA, are actually *overwhelmingly* unpopular with both political parties.
This is because they are too broad in scope, vague and unclear in their definitions of "obscene" and how to enforce the law (which is already practically impossible to do,) and it clearly and directly violates First Amendment rights (and even some 10th Amendment protections.) It also, naturally, generates MASSIVE public outcry and outrage, which jeopardizes any sitting candidate's approval ratings or standing. These bills often die before even being sent to the House or Senate due to heavy scrutinizing from committee predelegation.
This is unsurprising; Using IODA as an example, by its loose and sweeping definition of "obscenity," an incalculable swath of contemporary media would suddenly be deemed "obscene" and therefore illegal. 80% of shows such as "Game of Thrones," for example, would have to be pulled from streaming platforms. Romance novel covers alone would need to be recalled. Video games or mobile applications with "Suggestive themes" or "Mild sexual content" would become contraband. The sheer volume of content that would be classified as pornographic would send the media landscape into a death spiral and effectively deal a death-blow to the American economy. Even the most loathesomely stubbornly Republican delegates would be loathe to have that happen.
What this means is that, from the start, these bills are already at a massive disadvantage. But the fact not one, but two major bills are being pushed for consideration at all is an unprecidented event. And it is no less important to contact your representatives and senators and tell them they and their constituents need to learn these facts and take serious action against these, and any/all similar bills!!
Calls are the most effective way to do this: They are direct, are almost unanimously listened to (even if it's just a message,) and are much more likely to be heard by a legislator's staff. Emails do help, but calls via phone lines are understood to be the most effective. Both are even better!!

I know. I'm tired of it all, too. But this sends the message loud and clear more than anything: We are DONE with this nonsense!! Please don't give up, don't despair, and don't doomscroll!! Rest when you're able. And know that I'm proud of you for all you can and have done!!

Scoping out Interest

I've been working on a series of written work for a long time, a little over a year now, about an OC of mine named Torg. You may know that name from this piece of mine;
To be honest, I've become a little obsessed with him. The world I've made with him has taken up a lot of mental real estate within my creative interests and I've poured a lot of time and WAY too much thought into it all, and in the midst of writing everything... I'm stuck. But not necessariy for the reasons you think.
As much writer's block as I'm experiencing, I'm moreso just... Lacking the confidence to share something so saturated with kinks and fetishes I enjoy that I honestly don't know how many people are actually going to enjoy it. I'm not expecting it to do numbers overnight, I know I don't exactly have a cult following yet. But I am looking to gage interest in it.
To get to the point, if any of the following topics, kinks and fetishes interest you (Alongside "Tarzan"/"George of the Jungle"-type ape-man stories, characters/scenarios set in an alternate, prehistoric dimension,) please let me know.

They've got gross art of underage characters and bestiality all over his page and I nearly became nauseous looking at it. Do yourself a favor, don't look at their page beyond using the block button on them. Report them if you can as well. I have done so.

General | Posted 3 years agoI'm getting a haircut today, and that reminds me...
When I was working on my upcoming piece the other night, I realized... I've been doing my hair color wrong for years. Since it's supposed to mimic the colors of flame, I realized I put the colors in the wrong order. Before, I had it going from red, to orange, to yellow, when it's supposed to be yellow, orange, red.
Fun Fact: The closer to the base of the flame you are, the hotter it is, which is why the flame is a brighter color. However, blue flames, not unlike those seen on gas powered stovetops or pilot lights, are actually hotter than the yellow parts of a flame.
Anyway, I've adjusted the hair color on the latest piece to reflect this. Let me know what you guys think when I post it here soon, yeah? If you prefer the older hair coloring, I'll take it into account. If you prefer the more natural new coloring, I'll stick with it. Part of me almost likes the old color, it kind of makes it look more unique and personalized, even if it's technically inaccurate. Plus, part of me likes that the newer coloration draws the eye into the face easier.
Let me know what you guys think. I'm always open to constructive feedback.

I know I don't post here as often as I should, but it's time I try and mend that.
I'll be honest: I've been struggling with a lot of anxiety lately, mostly climate anxiety. With the recent heat waves and storms around here, I've been in a very bad place mentally and I'm finally at a point where I want to learn how to deal with it. But I want you guys to have the same hope and ability to take care of our planet and do our part in all the ways we can as well.
When I started getting really affected by my anxiety, I first tried finding places to discover hope and maintain a sense of optimism and reassurance that there are people doing something about it. "Look for the helpers," I always heard. There is a lot more being done than we think. Here are some of the places I've frequently gone to when I need hope and optimism for our planet and its people:

The Eco-Anxiety Antidote lady is someone I've started talking to about my anxiety. She's been immensely helpful so far after only one call. I'm not here to shill for her but I hope you guys know at least that there are people out there who can help you if you're struggling with all of the things I've been going through. With the heat waves and bad storms here lately, my whole being has been shaken lately. But I'm tired of being a victim to my fear, I want to believe again and have the ability to go through my days, regardless of what they are, and to thrive again. I want to feel comfortable again, even when it isn't so comfy. I have so many great friends who have helped me emotionally, and I still grapple greatly with anxiety attacks and the tribulations therein, but I'm getting help now, and I'm proud of myself for that.
I'm going to come out of this stronger without sacrificing the compassion and goodness of my heart, and without becoming an emotionless shambling husk. It's going to be rough. It's gunna be scary. But I'm gunna do it. I have to. Just like how we're going to do what we can to create real solutions that bring a lasting difference to keep this planet as safe and healthy as we can. I need you all to believe this, too. So we can spread the light of hope further and keep inspiring others to take the actions they can, when they can.
But I've learned that shouldn't come at the cost of losing our sanity or our sense of peace. Better days will always come. And still they will outnumber the bad ones, for as long as we can enjoy them. Keep these things in your heart and prayers. When I come out of this, I'm gunna be making so much more art and stuff here. I promise.
Thank you all for being a constant source of light, levity, laughter and life to me. It has helped me more than you know.

New Instagram
General | Posted 5 years agoI recently had an older account on here wiped by the Instagods in their capricious and unjustifiable attempts to stifle, suffocate and silence creators like myself. This, after I started my Instagram last year as a means to which I could post freely the kind of uncompromising and liberated art I yearn to show with pride. Up until then there were few instances of my work clashing with the vague and nebulous "ToS/T&C", if at all. Overnight, it was gone. Nearly a year and a half of murals, illustrations, memories and labors erased without warning or care. So much of that moment threw me back to what I had lost when the lockdowns took over our lives, that the overwhelming numbness and disgrace of it all overrode my feelings of loss and grief. Righteous fury followed shortly after. Indignant and undaunted, I start here anew. A rose by any other name will still smell just as sweet to you. And before you think, "Is it all lost? All those murals and art?" No. I backed up nearly everything to a Dropbox that I can and will draw from very soon. Don't worry. They can't extinguish my fire this easily.
