I realized that I never posted this particular situation anywhere other than Bluesky, and I figured that cross-posting to FA may help a little.

Essentially, after over a decade of having no dental coverage, I have a significant sum of money I need to gather to get dental work done after my insurance crapped out earlier this year, and it would be nice to get that done before my teeth rot further. Since my dental insurance won't help out any further until 2026, that leaves me having to go to other means to gather funds.

Adoptable character designs tend to be a fractious subject on FA, I've noticed. Some people think they're stupid (and in some cases, they're semi-right, especially in the cases where the adoptables are just a bunch of alt colors of the same lineart), others buy dozens of them with impulsive fervor, spending ridiculous amounts of money.

I'm kind of in the middle ground. I see a few designs I like, and sometimes I buy them (usually from ), but what is weird and annoying to me in particular are a certain kind of regular adoptable buyer, which I have 'humorously' named in journal title. A lot of interesting adoptable designs end up being bought by people who had blank accounts, full of nothing but favorites, no communication from anyone. You really never notice any art the characters again. They are just bought and vanish into the ether, never to be seen or used anywhere on FA.

I suppose it's possible they just go use the design somewhere else. But I think a lot of them buy so many that they can't use them all. What's the point of outbidding everyone else if you're just going to tuck the design in your pocket and never bring it up again?

Given my current financial status, I have decided maybe it is time again to try getting into writing commissions again. I've taken several of them somewhat quietly over the last year, for various people, but I guess I shall try for an open commissions.

The stories will run at a rate of $25, and will be approximately two pages in length (12 point Calibri, single spaced, ~2500 words, maybe more if I get into it), of a subject matter of your choosing. I have a preference for domination, transformation, and general magic themes, but that doesn't mean I'll refuse to write anything else.

I have a small selection of sample stories I can provide on request, if you wish to see my previous works, but I would prefer not to post them publicly online. I suppose I am a giant weenie about my weird fetish writings. (But if you get one from me, I guess you can post it on your page if you want, it seems gauche to order you to keep it hidden away forever if you want to share it) It also need not be fetish related, but I will not kid myself about people wanting anything else. I know what you furries are like! :V

It's time to upload collections of sketches from :spiderdasquirrel: that I've had sitting on my computer for years.

Why do so many people comment on 'Open for commissions' journals/submissions expressing the desire to commission the artist, but that they have no money.

What does this accomplish? Are they hoping the artist will give them a freebie? Or do they just feel like being told that someone wants their art but they can't pay will flatter them?

The pervasiveness of these pointless comments can reach up to 50% of the people who actually comment on a given commission thread, at times, cluttering up the valid commission requests with inane, repetitive commentary.

Not the best day.

I was at one of the libraries this morning. A bit after switching computers realized I didn't have my phone. So I went to go check at the computer I had been at, asked the girl there if she'd seen a phone. She said no. About 10 minutes later I'm at the bus stop and this same girl comes over with my phone jammed between her breasts. I say hey, that's my phone, I'd like it back. She pulls the woman card and says not it's mine, I'm harassing her, leave me alone. I say then let me see the phone and if it's not mine I'll give it back. Of course, she refuses.

She leaves the bus stop and I follow her for ten minutes with me asking her for it back and her telling me it's not my phone, threatening to get people to beat me up and whatnot, before she throws it on the ground and says FINE HAVE YOUR PHONE BACK then runs off.

Phone's broken now, of course. Won't even turn on. I filed a police report at the library, then I get on the bus to go back downtown.

She gets on my bus while I'm on it. I borrow someone's phone to call the police and ask them to meet me at the transit center downtown, which is the last stop for the Spur Route bus I was on. They never show. She gets off, gets on her tiny orange bike (that she stashed at the Intermodal Transit Center I suppose) with flat tires and catches another bus. I suspect she lives in the 'Projects' area, which is a low-income housing area near where I live, because she got on the Route 3 bus, which stops there. Can't confirm it though.

I am now employed.

I turn 25 in 2-3 days. The vague amount is because years without leap days can be either/or time around the ball park of that nonexistent day. Which is my birthday. So two halfway birthdays I guess? Dunno!

Not that I really expect to get much out of them, I haven't gotten so much as a card in several years!

Though there was that time got me some art from a few years back. That was pretty cool. Very late additional thanks for that fuzzy, I'll remember it fondly when I don't get any cards from my family again this year! XD

Though if anyone wants to take the time to wish me happy birthday during the designated sort of birthdays I guess that would be nice.

Hey, whoever actually reads this. I admit I've mostly given up on asking around for help around the furry circles - not that no one has helped me out, but mostly it was the occasional donation that, while greatly appreciated, doesn't really help me in stabilizing myself in the long term - mostly it just makes my current situation a bit more comfortable.

I'm currently homeless and living in a shelter in Fort Worth, TX. I'm not really sure how to get myself out of this anymore. It's been over a year now, and the only headway I've made is getting through the long waiting list for a locker, bed, and case worker. And that was six months ago. I still don't have a job or anywhere particularly home like to go, and it doesn't seem like there is much interest in hiring the homeless.

I honestly don't know what to do anymore. I'm not even sure asking for money is more that a temporarily fix, as there are greater issues here than my physical finances.

So, I'll throw this out here. See if it gets me anywhere.

I don't know how many of you people read this webcomic! But it's finally back after a six month hiatus. You guys should check it out either way!

Some of you may have heard of Dwarf Fortress, and hopefully some of you have even played it. Those that pay any attention to the game's metagame will be aware of the legendary Boatmurdered, a project of running a fortress by saving and passing it along to a new person from a list at the end of every in-game year (when spring arrives). It made for some very entertaining storytelling. You can check the whole thing out just by googling "Boatmurdered". You probably should anyway.

Anyway, my idea was to try and do another Boatmurdered, and I'd need some volunteers to participate who are willing to join in and contribute their creativity (and ability to make screenshots) to making our fortress last as long as possible. Now, for those who have never played Dwarf Fortress before, please be advised that it is a viciously difficult and complex game much in the way of a fantasy simulator - like the Sim games, there is no 'win' to the game, except losing as spectacularly as possible. Sometimes in a flood of fiery demons and murder. If you wish to join, please find and download version 0.31.25, which I think is the most recent one (and more importantly the one I'm using now) and play a few games to get the hang of the basics. You will lose horribly during your first few, I almost guarantee it, so feel free to use that as a learning experience and USE GUIDES. I'm not kidding when I say the game is ridiculously complex.

Otherwise, I'll leave this up as a general signup area for people who are interested in joining. Official rules will be posted when we have enough people, but the rules will be pretty general - advice on a few things to not do that will almost assuredly cause you to destroy your fortress during your turn, and how to post up your accounts on the events.
