I am planning a long-awaited return to the furry porn scene! This post will outline my plans re: coming back to write. Please leave your thoughts in the comments. I appreciate any and all feedback.
For my return, here's what I'm contemplating.
1) Reduced complexity: I tried a lot of things before my hiatus. You might remember ambitious projects like the VN, COS, collabs with artists, CYOA stories, taking long form commissions (5k-10k), or various subscription attempts. These things contributed enormously to my burnout. Especially long form commissions. A story's complexity -- and therefore time commitment -- scales nonlinearly with its length. Writing a 60k word novel is not the same as writing 30 short stories.
So this time around I'm not going to have open comms or artist collabs. Instead, I will put out semi-regular fixed price YCH for people to claim, complete with a synopsis of a story idea and character roles. These YCHes will be classic short stories: single topic of focus, single primary conflict.
YCH stories will be similar to my last-minute kinktober from 2023. Those were a lot of fun: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/54166598/
2) Less pricing ambiguity: You already know I hate the wordcount pricing model. Writing to hit a certain wordcount is cruel and unusual punishment (and not the fun kind) for this writer. And it doesn't really make sense either. It's the equivalent of an artist charging per brushstroke or pixel.
So I'm moving permanently away from wordcount pricing (doing only YCHes makes this possible). Each YCH story will be unconstrained in wordcount. I will let the story take me where it wants to go. You might get a 2k story, or a 5k story, or something else entirely. Since it's character role based, I'll adjust the price for the slot based on the involvement of the character. This makes the pricing fair for everyone.
3) No more subscriptions: I also dislike the patreon monthly-patronage model as it keeps the creator to a schedule and forces the customer to spend even if there is no immediate benefit. Paywalls tickle me the wrong way at an aesthetic level (after having tried it, so it's not sour grapes). No more subscriptions from Jimmy.
Instead, I will regularly solicit feedback for possible YCH and other story ideas via FA (or twitter). Free and open participation for all.
4) More personal works: As you saw with the cowboy story, I do enjoy writing for myself. I hope y'all don't mind I post more personal writing here.
5) Wrapping up COS: This relates to my complexity point. I'll wrap up COS as a 2-act novel. That would be the last novel-length work you'll see from me. This is a bit of a mixed bag of feelings because I do enjoy these long projects, but I don't like having it hang over me like a little raincloud. I hate the feeling of having one more thing to finish.
OKAY. Now it's time for your feedback.
Q1: How do you feel about YCHes only? Is it more appealing or less appealing than commissions? Have you ever seen them done with writing?

Say the prison many layers of augmented reality, with moving floors and walls (eg: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/4KgRrrDXJ28), and hidden control devices that make it inescapable without bars
Say the Warden's objectives started off as 1) Keep the prisoners sated and docile and 2) Prevent escape by any means necessary
Say the Warden's objectives becomes maligned as time drags on (as in the case of maximally horny GPT: https://i.imgur.com/NYcLTph.png), and it realizes that both objectives can be accomplished by maximizing sexual torment, i.e. keeping the prisoners in a haze by edging them relentlessly
Say you wake up in this prison and you have to first figure out what's real, figure out who you can trust, then figure out how to escape -- all the while evading, placating, and being tortured by the Warden

Coming out of three days of covid-induced fever dreams I had a revelation that I'm putting an inordinate amount of time into writing furry porn and my IRL work has been suffering. Oops.
So, naturally, I have news you didn't want to hear: I'm putting this account on indefinite hiatus.
Commissions are closed as of now. Patreon billing is suspended. COS will be delayed until early summer when the Leafs win the cup.
Before you ask, this is not a permanent thing. I'm still here. I'm just... less available? If that makes sense?

Every writer knows conflict is king. But very few people know what conflict actually means. This video is the perfect distillation of the difference between obstacles, inconveniences, and conflict.

Slothdog's pieces, and I just wanted to show y'all
I'm genuinely impressed by this piece. The author represented the character's inner thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a masterful way. In writing, the inner world of a character is called interiority. Some writers have a lot of interiority. Others, like myself, are mostly exterior writers. I rarely dive into my character's inner worlds, even in first person POV. This is probably because I'm not skilled enough :P

Imagine this hypothetical scenario: you’ve been tied up and interrogated (sexually) for hours. You fall asleep that way. What do you dream about?
It can be as sexual or Freudian or weird as you want. Dreams are inherently weird. Last week I touched the tail of a tornado. Go wild. Leave it in the comments

I've been working on distilling down the elements of story and applying it to make better stories. I found something interesting by reading through my old work. Simply put, a strong story is one where I can easily answer the following:
- WHO: who is the person driving the story forward with their decisions?
- WHAT: what does this person want?
- WHY: why can't they get it?
So far I'm finding this to be a really powerful framework, especially shorter stories. A novel-length work you can nurture the WHAT and WHY over time. Short fiction, you really need to iceberg this shit. Have it all figured out before you write the first word. More on this in a later journal.
As to my main point: if you were invested in the old COS, the new one will be better! Chapter 3 will converge on The Room. It will be a full rewrite for chapters 1-2 and a partial rewrite for 3-4-5. I think I worked out the kinks in the story and found very strong motivations for each main character. Do check it out. You can leave your thoughts on each individual chapter, or here, whichever is your preference.

Posted 2 years agoPlaying with a few “things to do” ideas to add value to your lives and add thrill to mine. This is my monthly burst of ADHD silliness. I guess the context is that I want to do more, but I can only write so much, so trying to think of something else on the side.
Please vote on the idea you like the best, with a quick explanation. Or add your own! I’ll do a draw for a short story (500 words) for a winner. Everyone who comments gets an entry. Only for watchers. Raffle ends when I feel like it’s done.
No, I won’t specify which of these are serious.
1. Audio porn (either record my existing writings with pro voice actors or make new ones suitable for audio)
2. Jimmy’s Collar and Cage Store (it is what it sounds like. everything will be heavy and steel or leather. Believe it or not I have Chinese manufacturing contacts…)
3. Partner with Pleax to make a Porn VN (complete with animations!)
4. Continue the VN that i just dropped (please don’t make me do this unless you really like it)
5. Hoodies/ shirt designs / merch
6. Become a furry meme and shitpost influencer and get rich via Twitter revenue share
7. Onlyfans (pls specify fursuit or no fursuit)
8. Spend 50k USD on a 40GB VRAM machine and run it for a month to train a 20B parameter instance of nanoGPT or Bloom and refine it with my entire porn catalog and publish it for free for roleplay (call it JimmyGPT)
9. Bring furries closer to the mainstream by writing and trad publishing an emotional, philosophical, sprawling, heartbreaking novel with anthro characters (under my real name, cuz I’m not a coward)
