Imma alive. And pissed off
General | Posted 13 years agoGOD HOW I HATE LMMS!!!
And what's worse, I have some reasons. from badly coded engine, via jamming knobes to lack of main 'Panic!' button.
So why main volume knob in song editor regulates (in soundfonts and some VST/LADSPA count in ZynnAddSubFX) regulates velocity of plugin, not volume...? Also because of this you can't use it as 'Aftertouch' regulator... just anything you do with this knob doesn't matter after you play a note... It hurts. Badly.
In last two versions of lmms some (quite a lot of 'em) knobs in effects (internal LADSPA) jams in 1/n-th of scale... and nobody ( except automation editor) can do anything... so if you wanna turn teh knobee in 'restricted' area... you have to open up automation and set up from there.. Wtf is that even?
My question: Is it only 'Holy Microsoft', or is it issue under the linux platforms too...? I know that lin and Win can interpret VST/LADSPA directions and algorythms differently, and even slighest change of hardware setup can make your piece sound a bit different, than you used to know... it's confirmed by me, at least with envelopes (ZynnAddSubFX for sure).
Ok, I've told what really hurts me.. and even i haven't told about really heavy graphical engine of lmms... and panic button... when ZynnAddSubFX goes 'WOBWOBWOBWOB' and you don't work on dubstep... and even 'stop' doesn't wanna kill da noise... you peacefully turn volume down, open ZynnAdd and then you can kill all artifacts. And other plugins even don't have this button at all.. and what about time? no timey... and measure changing... is just wrong.. you can dream about smooth changing from 5/4 to 7/4... and even if you can... grid in piano roll/song editor is a mess.... and it looks fugleh. AAAARGH!! to much to say.
Anyway, I'm still alive, still gonna write in lmms and I complain, because I care. I Complain, So I Am.
And if trolls are, there will be drama... and if not trols are, maybe someone have sugestions about tricks how to stay sane working with this software.. i would really apreciate both problems and sugestion in workarounds.
See ya next time

A lil' about samples:
General | Posted 16 years agoA long time ago I've found very usefull internet service, wherein there was many free samples to download. I've grabbed some snare sounds from that, and now I use them in every single module I write.
Now it's time to tell the truth: I've found it again and now wanna tell you what is this site.
http://www.freesound.org/index.php that's the source of some very good sounds, I recommend to check it out.
And if there's chance Igonna tell that all the snare samples I use are borrowed from this user:
