The Project List
Posted 14 years agoHey guys!
I didn't want that last journal, about me being dumb enough to click an unspecified link, to be the most recent one any more. So I thought I would talk a bit about what I've been up to writing-wise.
The short answer? Not much. :D
Actually, that's not true. I'm noodling around on a number of projects, and I'm hoping that public feedback and interest might spur me on to finish them a bit more quickly. Here's a quick run-down of stuff I've been working on:
Gamma World - I'm still writing vignettes in this setting, but they need a little bit of editing before I feel OK with posting them. I think I have a pretty good handle on Robert and Merry, but there are other places I want to go with the setting that aren't quite up to par yet. At any rate, I think it's time to break out of vignettes and try a full-fledged short story. I have an idea for that, too, but there are things I need to get out of the way first.
Oak's Home - This is a home-grown D&D setting I ran a couple of games in. The first game back in Arkansas imploded in a spectacular fashion because I didn't have quite the right mix of players. The second game in California is remembered fondly by most of the players, but I kind of killed it due to self-doubt. The setting and stories keep hammering away at me, though, so I need to tell them.
Part of the problem here is that the setting is too vaguely defined. I know most of the story, but the town itself (a small medieval village surrounded by enchanted woods) has this intense, long history that it'll take some time to excavate. There will be a few more vignettes and little bits of history before I'm comfortable with what I'm doing there.
Writing.com Stories - My secret shame. :) This site gets a lot of flack for being virus bait and having some of the worst interactive stories this side of Choose Your Own Change, but I just can't stay away. I put up a Flash and ad blocker, which takes care of the viruses, and currently I follow and post to no less than seven different stories there. See if you can find them! ;) After you protect your computer of course.
Untitled Wrestling Project - I know there's a kind of loose wrestling shared universe here on FA, but I wanted to do something of my own that was part gay soap opera, part muscle-growth and mini-macro playground. I have a whole roster of characters and I'm just starting to get my feet wet with them. This is another one of those secret shames -- I find pro. wrestling to be irresistibly silly and trashy, and I have to admit there's a bit of nostalgia there. Remember the 90s, full of awesomely talented, no-nonsense wrestlers (like Bret Hart, Arn Anderson and -- oof, Chris Benoit)? Also, the absolutely *terrible* gimmicks (Doink the Clown, Papa Shango, the Bushwackers, Tatanka)? Yeah, good times man. :D
Pure Nova Alphafertile - This is one of those sorta shared universe things; a bunch of people are changed into hyper-endowed anthro hooved animals because of smoke detectors that are contaminated with some kind of mutagen. I think Mark Stretch came up with the original concept, and the stories that have come from it are gloriously strange. When I need a quick fix of horses, I toss a thousand words or so to this short story that's been on the backburner for some time.
There's other stuff, of course: Short stories I'm writing for an APA, a few other ideas for the Lab of Infinite Growth universe that CCKitty and I dabble in, two or three ideas for serials that I'd love to get off the ground. But the above are taking up most of my brainpower.
What do you think, guys? Which idea are you most into?

Sorry About That
Posted 14 years agoGuh, that's super annoying. Sorry about that; changed my password and deleted the offending journal. I'll be more careful about what I click on in the future.
Here Comes Another One
Posted 14 years agoI haven't been able to get much in the way of suggestions for a good reference sheet for my character (hint hint), so I'll have to look around and do the leg-work when I have the time. Honestly, the whole deal of asking for artwork kind of makes me queasy. It takes a lot for me to get up the nerve to ask for artwork, especially from friends, because I know they're so busy and often times I don't want to end up being seen as a customer more than a person. If that makes sense. But this I will do!
At any rate, saw X-Men: First Class today, and I have to say I really like it. I've told people that I'm an X-Men fan, but I have a dirty little secret to tell -- really, I'm just a fan of Beast. He's the total package: smart, witty, humble, but big and powerful and feral. The movie got him just right, though he really was only 'himself' during the last 30 minutes. Ah well. Maybe in the sequel he'll get more screen time. And wear spats! :D
Writing a bit more these days. I don't want to talk about my plans just yet, because I'm too worried about jinxing them. :D But in the next week or two there should be a few more short stories and what-not up from me.
One of the things I think is great about the 'new' publishing model of the Internet is that it makes it a lot easier to write with an eye towards 'episodic' storytelling. I've always been keen on that sort of long-form story, and now I feel like I'm getting an eye towards structure that makes it....well, not suck, let's say.

The Quarterly Journal
Posted 14 years agoSome people manage to write in their journals at least once a week. Me? I'm aiming for at least four times a year. ;)
I'm afraid the same old things are going on. I have a number of ideas for stories, and I'm even making some headway on them, but I'm not entirely sure whether or not it's kosher to show them. I'm going to go ahead and say yes, so you should be seeing some stuff from me here in the next month or so. It's my aim to have something worth showing at least two - four times per month, anyway.
I'm also considering a 'hard' form for my avatar. Jakebe, in case you haven't noticed, has always existed in a state of flux depending on who I'm with. Sometimes he's a normal sized, tan-and-cream rabbit. Sometimes he's a giant, heavily-muscled jackalope anywhere from twelve to 120 feet tall (and beyond). I'm thinking it might be a good idea to come up with a relatively 'constant' look for him mainly because I'd like to get a character sheet designed for him.
Honestly, I'd prefer it if he were relatively short, though muscular, because I'm pretty fond of being loomed over. Most people seem to like me quite a bit taller though. :) The Dragon has decreed that I should never be taller than him, and I'm all for that, but there's got to be a happy medium in there somewhere, right?
Here's what I'm thinking:
Jakebe is officially a jackalope -- or a rabbit-based faerie -- with powers over nature and size. He's a natural size-changer, but almost always tends towards the muscular and imposing side. All the better to frighten off any would-be predators. That being said, he's not one to be too overbearing with power. The more he trusts you, in fact, the less power he tends to wield.
He wears glasses, though they're purely an affectation. (Or are they?) He tends towards casual shirts and jeans, but can just as often be found in vests, sweaters, suits and spats. He is always barefoot.
Depending on how well he knows you, he's generally anywhere from six to fifteen feet tall. Despite the fact that his magical nature makes it difficult to be around them, he has a fondness for laptops and gadgets.
What do you think? That sounds pretty good, yeah?
Also, who would you recommend for a character sheet-type commission?

Further Confusion 2011
Posted 14 years agoDon't you hate it when conventions just sneak up on you? I was all ready to settle down after the craziness of the holidays into the doldrums of early 2011 when suddenly Further Confusion is upon us!
I'll be taking advantage of the Writing track panels more than ever this year, I hope -- kudos to the Writing track organizer, who got a really decent crop of topics together this year! As always, I'll also be hosting my "Introduction to Buddhism" panel, and I'll also be taking a small part in the Writing track by hosting a "Writer's Group" panel on Monday. Here's my full schedule, in case you were interested in stalking me or something:
Friday, January 14th
1 pm (California) – Intro to Buddhism
5 pm (Empire) – Novel Writing
Saturday, January 15th
11 am (Empire) – Writer’s Workshop
1 pm (Empire) – Learning to Love Editing
3 pm (Empire) – Furry Writers’ Guild Meet and Greet
8 pm (Empire) – Storytelling
10 pm (Empire) – Unsheathed Live Podcast
Sunday, January 16th
11 am (Empire) – Character Journeys
1 pm (California) – Writing for Illustration
3 pm (Empire) – Spiritual Tea
8 pm (Empire) – Adult Furry Fiction
Monday, January 17th
1 pm (Crystal) – Writing Groups
As you can see, I'll be practically living in Empire on Saturday and Sunday. In between panels, I think I'll have my laptop out for writing, organizing notes or maybe duck out to one of the many local shops for something to eat. There's still plenty of time for group dinners and the like, but for the most part I want to keep the food expense relatively low.
I also only have one sketchbook! I can't remember what happened to the other one; it was a mini-golf and magic themed one, and I remember leaving it with an artist and...that was the end of it. At this point, I don't expect to see it ever again, but if by some off chance you do have it (or any other sketchbook) could you perhaps bring it to the Fairmont next weekend? I would be ever so grateful!
Looking forward to seeing you all there! If you're looking to grab me for a meal or hangout time or something, just message me here. :)

Informal and Unscientific Poll

You Know What? Here Is a Plug That Is Shameless
Posted 15 years agoHey guys,
I know I keep saying "I'm working on stuff but it's not ready to show yet" every time I actually put up a journal entry, so why break tradition?
I'm working on stuff, but it's not ready to show yet. However, I *am* more excited about what I've been writing than I have been about pretty much anything before, so that's a good sign for any of this crap actually seeing the light of day. :)
In the meantime, I wanted to plug my husband's very first novel. I'm extremely proud of him and I think this book is really good -- and I'm not just saying that because of the fact that he's my husband. I think he's a fantastic writer and he has a very good ear for storytelling. It's been a winding and sometimes difficult road for him to reach this point, but the hard work has paid off.
The book, Smiley and the Hero, is available for pre-order now through FurPlanet. It makes its official debut at FC2011, and pre-orders will ship by the end of January. Trust me when I say it's worth the wait. And to sweeten the deal,
cooner is doing the illustrations!

That Blank Page
Posted 15 years agoAfter writing a short story for a zine that I might put up here a bit later, I'm finding myself at a loss on what to follow up with. Right now, I'm trying to clear out emails and other obligations I've been letting sit for a while, but I know in my heart of hearts that it's little more than procrastination. I *should* be working at the next big story, but the problem is there are too many ideas to focus on just one to pursue.
What do you guys do when you have so many things you could be working on but have to decide on one to go with? Is there one that keeps calling out to you, presenting itself as next in line through sheer persistence?

The Same
Posted 15 years agoFirst, to everyone who's shouted happy birthday on my page, thanks a lot; I really appreciate it. You only turn 30 once, I guess, and I'm really in a good place to start my next decade. I have a loving husband, I'm in a stable relationship, I have a good job and a good handle on myself. Now if only I could purge a few nagging personal demons, I'll be in good shape.
Which brings me to my second point; to everyone who's shouted on my page saying that they really enjoy my writing and hope I write more, thank you. I really appreciate that. :) The flame of writerly writerness is a sputtering one within me at best, but I'm taking steps to change that. Really I am. I'm going to make a promise to myself (and everyone reading) that I will write at least 500 words every day for the next 30 days. I'll be sure to post my progress up here in a daily journal, along with a few notes.
I really *want* to write, and I really want to get better at writing. The only way to do it is to stop pussy-footing around and do it. Unfortunately, I won't be able to show everything I'm working on for various reasons, but hopefully by the time the month is up I'll have a few decent things to show.
So...how's everyone out there in FA land?

Gathering Moss but Rolling Anyway
Posted 15 years agoSo here we are, ten days into the new year. And how am I doing with my writing goals? It's funny you should ask that, because honestly, I'm not doing too well. :)
The thing that's tripping me up most is simply timing. I tend to write my best in the mornings, but managing to sit down and bang out a few hundred words first thing is not something I have the discipline to do and if I did, I'd probably channel that into other things. You know, like fixing lunch and breakfast, meditating, cleaning the apartment, that sort of thing.
I'm not much for writing in the evenings; by the time I get home I will have spent a good twelve hours of the day away from it, so I'd much rather spend the time unwinding with my husband. The demands of work and conversation with my commute buddies leaves my brain pretty tapped, and even after the oxygen boost furnished by exercise any two sentences I can string
together will be the subject of vicious deletion and re-editing whenever I get the chance to see it again.
And, to be honest, I haven't been pushing myself as much as I should be. Inertia is a very difficult thing to overcome, more difficult than I thought it would be, and I'm ready to renew my effort to get the stone rolling, so to speak.
I've been looking to stretch my writing muscles through frequent updates to a few stories over on writing.com, under a pseudonym. Most of them, yes, have to do with furry macrophilia. :) I have the very first chapter of a new story thread written down, but I don't want to post it until I've gotten a few ahead, and I'm looking to return to the "Unstable Future" world I've set into motion. I was thinking about scrapping the work I had done so far and just doing a series of fan-fiction stories, but I may never actually do that if I let myself. One of the reasons I wanted to try the interactive stories in the first place was that it would give me an avenue to write in a relatively fluid setting, and if I wrote myself into a corner I could either backtrack or try to fix it through the narrative. I'm looking to solve the problem of being inflexible with my world, and a collaborative, free-wheeling open forum is just the thing to do that.
In addition to that I've been working on two short stories: "Monstrous," a big of darker macro fiction for a publication I'm a part of. The first part was, apparently, a giant cock-tease, and I was hoping to make it a pretty standard, go-ahead, munch-and-crunch kind of thing. But then I just had to go and get weird with it, so I have to take some time, step back, map out what I'm doing, and try to take the first piece and make something coherent from it. That's a bit nerve-wracking, but also exciting in its own way.
The second story I'm working on is called "Practice," another attempt at a basic story. Typical gay romance, but hopefully the hook is enough to make it interesting. I've never even tried this before, but I thought it might be worth doing. After all, if Kyell Gold can mix erotica and great characters, then that should be the standard set for most porn you read, online and off. :)
So that's a brief update of my projects and where they are. There are a lot more, but these are the ones that are getting most of my attention. Is there anything you guys are particularly excited to read?

So, About That Writing
Posted 15 years agoThis year I made a promise to myself and several other people to write more often. I've even joined a group with the idea that it would force me to do it more often. None of the tricks I've tried have worked out quite the way I've wanted to.
I'm positive I've talked about this sort of thing before, but I've had to sit back and think about what it is that's keeping me back from writing on a regular basis. I mean, I have a supportive network of really *great* writers to help me out, both online and off, and for crying out loud my husband is a writer of no small talent, has an English degree, so forth and so on. This is an environment I should be flourishing in, should I not?
For a long time I've been paralyzed by the spectre of failure. I know too many good writers and I've seen them cut down so much bad writing that I have a very strong desire not to be the target of their mockery. And while that might be a little more distrusting of these guys than their actions warrant, the feeling holds stubbornly fast. I suppose one of the big disadvantages of knowing so many great writers is the fact that you look at your work so much more critically than you would otherwise.
Still, being afraid to fail isn't getting me any success. So I'm going to try very, very hard starting today to write at least 500 words a day towards *something*; an essay, blog article, short story or novel or play or *something*. I might create a false identity that would allow me to suck ass in relative anonymity, and I might go back to playing around on Writing.com or Choose Your Own Change to cut my teeth on producing things for public consumption. At the very least, I *know* I can write better than these guys.
I want to put in a New Year's Resolution right now to have at least one short story written every month. I already know which one I'll be working on for the month of January, and I figure I'd better get an early start of it since next month looks to be so busy. I *am* on staff for Further Confusion, after all.
I'll try to post more regular updates here, at least once a week, about the writing process. And, hopefully, I'll have first drafts of things to put up at least once a month. I'm going to call it right here and now: for 2010, I'll be a pretty sucky writer. But hopefully when 2011 comes knocking on the door, I'll be sucking a whole lot less.

Hey, A Meme
Posted 16 years agoI was tagged by Astor, who doesn't get an icon thingie because I can never remember how to do them. :) Anyway, here is my little meme thing. It took me a little while to come up with eight random facts about myself that were revealing, but not too much. Ah well, they're probably too revealing anyway. :)
1) Post these rules
2) Post 8 true things about yourself
3) At the end you must tag 8 people and post their icons
4) Go to their page and send them a message saying you tagged them
5) NO TAG-BACKS
*****
1. The first thing I ever wanted to be was a UFOlogist; I read every abduction case and paranormal book I could get my hands on.
2. I found out I was adopted when I was about 15 years old, and I met my brothers and sister the next year. I haven't seen my birth mother since I was 2.
3. I first joined FurryMUCK in February 1996, and the first species I played was a bettong. They're cute little guys. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bettong
4. I've lost four sketchbooks after giving them to various artists at conventions. I have very bad luck with being drawn.
5. I was raised as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. I left the fold shortly after I went to college.
6. I think of myself as an anthropomorphic rabbit about half the time.
7. My macrophilia manifested itself really, really early; I started developing the interest when I was 8 or 9.
8. Most of the time, I wish I were way funnier than I am. :)
I'm not going to tag eight people, because, well, almost all of them have been tagged already and I think I'm one of the last people on FA to actually do this. :)

In the Absence of Real Content
Posted 16 years agoI'm writing up stories, I promise. :) May has just been a pretty busy month, and I've let my writing habit suffer for it. Bad me!
In the meantime, a meme that was stolen shamelessly from Astor. Feel free to answer these questions! Or don't, I won't be offended. :)
1) Who are you?
2) Are we friends?
3) When and how did we meet?
4) Would you kiss me?
5) Give me a nickname and explain why.
6) Describe me in 1 word.
7) What was your first impression of me?
8) Do you still think the same?
9) What reminds you of me?
10) If you could give me anything, what would it be?
11) How well do you know me?
12) Are you gonna put this in your journal and see what I say about you?
13) Would you meet up with me?

The Plan
Posted 16 years agoIt's been a while since I've written a journal -- anywhere, in fact. I thought I might write one here since I'm writing and everything.
I'm really enjoying myself with "Unstable Future," though the way can be slow going sometimes. I'd love to get up to writing at least 1000 words a day, but there's so much other stuff going on I'm not sure that's something I can do. I'm dropping a lot of effort on e-mail and keeping in touch with folks, things like that. 500 seems like it'd be a better number, at least for now.
Anyway, there are a couple of other interactive stories on writing.com that are really neat as well. All macro-oriented, surprise surprise. :) "New Student" and "The Biggest Change" by Flangies are really well-done ideas that you can do just about anything with -- I'd like to jump into one of those soon, though I keep waffling back and forth about which one. "The Biggest Change" is straight-up mega-macro fiction, with an enormous variety of scenarios for you to choose from. It's a smorgasbord I tell you...a smorgasbord!!
I'm slowly but surely getting confidence and discipline as a writer. The thing I've resisted for the longest time is the actual work of it, being down in the trenches, putting together sentences one word at a time. Now that I'm buckling down and doing that on more-or-less a regular basis, I can honestly say that writing from the trenches is where the real joy of writing happens. As Anne Lamott writes, you really do just have to take it "bird by bird."
Anyway, the plan is to get faster with these little interactive story bits, so that I can rattle off one a day or so. I'd like to get to the point where I'm working on poems and short stories throughout the week, and during the weekend I'd write a new chapter of these guys. That's a long ways in the future, though. For now, I'll just concentrate on doing what I'm doing a little better, and a little faster. :)
If you're interested, here are the links to the stories in question:
The Biggest Change: http://www.writing.com/main/interac.....tem_id/1329525
New Student: http://www.writing.com/main/interac.....tem_id/1319633
Unstable Future: http://www.writing.com/main/interac.....tem_id/1242119
Writing.com has a lot of annoying pop-ups and speaking (*shudder*) ads, but if you can stomach those there's a good bit of good writing there. I hope to see you guys there!

Getting the House In Order
Posted 17 years agoI don't know if I've talked much about this, but I went back to school in September and a lot of my time has been eaten up by my English class, and then the wedding, and then the moving to a new apartment with my new husband right afterwards. Now that the research paper is all written, the thank-yous have been said and we're finally settling in to the new place, I have a bit more time to devote to other projects.
There's no shortage of things to write about, of course. The problem is I have yet to change the desire to write into actual, productive writing time. I need some kind of process, some incentive, something that will spark the internal drive to get shit done.
Right now I'm working on a daily schedule of things to do; picking a project or two to work on first, and doing a little bit every day to get myself a little closer to that goal. The first thing I want to do is rescue a few of my favorite interactive writing sites (Choose Your Own Change, Furrventure and Writing.com) from the hordes of kinda weak writing there. I may be infrequent, but at least I put in the effort to turn in a good chapter now and then.
Anyway, there's been a lot of great fiction around these parts, macro and otherwise, and I've been thoroughly enjoying what people have been posting. Hopefully I'll be able to put something up here sooner or later.
I'd also like to take the opportunity now to say that bears are freaking hot. Really. Almost all of them. Hot sweet Jesus. *fans himself* That's all.

Attempt
Posted 17 years agoSo it's been an incredibly long time since I've written anything, much less submitted something. I'm sorry about that. Life has been really busy as of late, and I'm riding this wave of change that (hopefully) will carry me through the election and into the new year. ;D
The biggest news is that I'm getting married to Tube, my boyfriend of many years, this Saturday. I'm incredibly excited and nervous; the closer the wedding looms, the greater the act seems to me. My entire life is changing, here, and I'm really jazzed to see what kind of person I become as Married Jakebe.
After that we'll be moving into an apartment on our own, the first time I've just lived with someone whom I've been dating. For the first time ever it'll be "OUR house," and I'm looking forward to that as well. There's the whole nerve-wracking experience of trying to find a place and then packing some things, discarding others, and making the move, but even that's fun in its own way.
I've gone back to school, as well, taking an English composition class at a local community college. I'm really digging the work so far, even if I have a lot to learn about managing my workload so it doesn't sneak up on me all at once. :D Already, though, the work has begun changing me as a writer. The reasons I write are becoming more clear, and I'm able to sit down in front of a blank page with a renewed sense of purpose. It feels good to sit down and actually have ideas again.
Hopefully, this all translates into some sort of productivity. I have at least half a dozen stories I'd love to write, and it's well past time I got started on at least one of them. After the wedding, I think I'll try making at least weekly updates here and in my WriterRabbit LiveJournal detailing my progress and thoughts. If you don't see something from me, please hold me to that. As always, I should be doing more.
Oh, and a quick shout out: if you're into macro stories, you should check out the page of Kyrugil. He's got a really great epic story called "Solution County" that's just set to wrap up in a few days. It's a pretty wild ride.
Next time I write, surely, I'll be a married man. :D

Too Quiet
Posted 17 years agoYes, so I know I don't really write here all that often, and you know, maybe that should change. I really don't know what I would put here though. :) Most of my stuff goes up on my LiveJournal.
Anyway, I've been whiling away the days with exercise, work, and writing. I'm a part of a community that celebrates National Poetry Writing Month every year, and now that it's April we're right in the thick of it. Most of the poetry I've been writing hasn't been very fur-centric, but what is I'll certainly post here.
There's also scraps from my biweekly writer's group I could post, so I'll do that. Finally, there are a bunch of projects that I'm working on, all within the realm of macrophilia, that I'd like to talk about and get a read or reaction on. Maybe I'll use this as a dumping ground for talking out loud.
That's all I wanted to say. Hope you guys are having a good time!

That Daemon Quiz
Posted 17 years agoHey there guys!
To all those folks who have watched me inexplicably: thank you and welcome. I'm a bit quieter than most you'll find here, but hopefully what I do put up interests you somewhat.
I've been writing quite a bit, actually! I've been involved in a few private mail RPs with a person or two, and I've been creating a Dungeons and Dragons game that I'm enjoying thoroughly. :) I'm also working on the first part of a story trade with a fellow named Elrabin; part one is already 17 pages long, which is...impressive, and it's not even finished. I think I'll bring up the first draft here when it's finished, get feedback and started editing sometime next year.
Finally, there's a little Golden Compass daemon quiz making the rounds, so I thought I would do it and see what mine looked like. Do you agree?

The News of Writing
Posted 18 years agoI've been pretty quiet, both here and on LiveJournal...and lots of other places, I imagine. If I've been kind of quiet or distracted or weird or tense or whatever, my apologies. I'm learning how to juggle a lot of things with a limited amount of time. :)
I'm falling into my Zen more these days, trying to keep up the daily habit of meditation and being mindful throughout the day. It's helping, and there's progress, but there's still a lot of work to do. There always is.
I was published this summer in the Sofawolf Press anthology, New Fables, which everyone should buy because it's awesome. This time around, my poem "Coyote Keeps His Date" made it in, and I'm trying desperately to think of a good short story that will make it in for the next issue. All I can think of are werebears, though.
Kellan's Predicament is on the backburner, though I should continue it shortly. Right now I'm working on a couple of macro short story ideas that have priority. Hopefully, you should see at least one of them by the end of the year.
How's everyone else doing?

Then Suddenly!
Posted 18 years agoMy scraps are gone!
The "Kellan's Predicament" submissions are suddenly missing! Including the one I put up today! Does anyone have any idea what's wrong? Do I need to resubmit, or have they been blocked, or are they just too poorly written to read? What gives?? Aieee!

Interactive Story
Posted 18 years agoOne of the things that's always made me gunshy about interactive stories is the fact that any schmoe can come along and turn a neat little scene into a totally lame tg-fest where everyone comes out as herm-taurs with penis-nipples. Nothing kills momentum faster than having a scene you're into derailed by a bad link in the chain.
Granted, a lot of people out there are into a lot of different things, so this might be me bitching about no one pandering to my needs, wah wah wah. :) Still, it makes it tough to get excited about going in a specific direction when there's a nagging voice in the back of your head that says "Someone's just going to put breasts on this guy anyway."
Also, sorry about the targeting of hermaphrodites, but it seems like I can't swing a dead cat without bumping into them. What gives? :)
Anyway, I had this idea blatantly stolen from another person (I swear I'll track down the original story and link to it) about a poker game where you're betting your height against that of other people. The idea of mixing sports with macro is always one I've been fascinated by (can you imagine a 9 foot rabbit playing tennis, or basketball? He'd be unstoppable), and gambling with sizechange is a particular kink I've neglected for far too long.
So, why not mix these two things that go great together? :) An interactive story about five guys who get involved in a rather special poker game; people vote on an outcome for the next five hands or so they'd like to see, and the most popular option determines where the story goes next.
I have an idea for the characters; I'd like to get as many 'gay male templates' in as possible. The erudite type (because vests and pocketwatches rock), the farmer/trucker bear type, the jock/slob type, the twink type, and the 'everyfag' type. :) Simple little stereotypes that leave a lot of room for expansion as the story progresses...so to speak.
Regular updates would happen here, say. So, what do you think? Are people interested?

Writer's Block
Posted 18 years agoIt's been a while, hasn't it?
I've been struggling with my writing for a while, and now I'm just getting to the point where I'm starting to feel confident about putting stuff out there. Sure, it's meaningless smut for now, but you have to start somewhere. Eventually I'll be able to work myself up to a Hugo Award. :)
I'll likely be alternating between poetry revisions, smut fragments and MUCK descriptions, but hopefully I can start being a bit more active around these parts. Feedback and criticism is appreciated, of course.

A Productive Member of Society
Posted 19 years agoI've had this account for a while, and up until now I haven't really posted anything because, honestly, I don't think I have terribly much worth posting. I have a lot of poems that could go up, but who'll read them? Really. Anyone? Didn't think so. :D
I'm working on a number of short stories that are furry (and sometimes macro) in nature. As soon as I've got a good handle on them, and feel like they can be shown without inviting ruthless (and in some cases, well-deserved) mockery, I'll post them.
So...er...watch this space soon! By the end of the month, I hope to have part of my story trade with Elrabin up, and maybe another thing or two besides.
In the meantime, what the hell...here's some crappy poetry. :D Merry Christmas!
