A Weighty Trout
I was speaking to a friend of mine recently who had just returned from a fishing trip. Sadly, my friend's memory is not very good. He had only caught one trout, but he couldn't remember how much the fish weighed exactly. The only information about the weight of the fish that he could remember was the following:
The trout's tail weighs eight pounds. Its head weighs as much as the tail and one-half of the body combined, and the body weighs as much as the head and tail combined.
How much does the whole trout weigh?
