Ex Tempora Poetry: "A Fair Explanation of Bartleby"
General | Posted 15 years agoI see him in the mirror
An ever gaping maw
I can never tell you
Exactly what I saw
He changes every moment
First silver, then black
But despite those fangs
Never does he attack
He'll bark orders to lead
He'll claw my cheek to teach
An ever-changing being
But never more a leech
He grew out of that
Those days of sadistic hate
He's a changed... thing
One could call it fate
He arrived to help me
With all the others now gone
On the verge of dusk
He arrived like dawn
An ever gaping maw
I can never tell you
Exactly what I saw
He changes every moment
First silver, then black
But despite those fangs
Never does he attack
He'll bark orders to lead
He'll claw my cheek to teach
An ever-changing being
But never more a leech
He grew out of that
Those days of sadistic hate
He's a changed... thing

He arrived to help me
With all the others now gone
On the verge of dusk
He arrived like dawn
Dreams of Fairmount Hill
General | Posted 15 years agoEver wake up in the morning feeling like you're miles from where you're supposed to be? Like everything you know and love is far away? Yeah... Yeah...
I might vanish for a few days. If I do, don't worry too much.

A Little Blue Box...
General | Posted 15 years agoWith a little blue rose and ribbon.
It's sitting on the side of my laptop right now. It used to hold some jewelry that my mother ordered. Now it has some foam inside and that's it. Mom said, in a joking fashion, to give it to that special girl. I have neither a special girl nor a special boy. I have no true romantic love for anyone, nothing more than carnal lust, to which I do plan to concede.
So what do I do with it, this little box with this little blue rose and ribbon. It's only value is artistic. It's funny. This little blue box with its little blue rose and ribbon is the same dark shade of blue that the most famous blue box is. The rose and ribbon are more the shade than the box itself, but still.
I don't believe in coincidence. I never have. Every mistake I have made, every day I have wasted. Every person I have randomly passed on the street has left a mark on me, regardless of whether I have noticed it. It has led me to this point.
So I will restart the song I am listening to on YouTube, something from Panty and Stocking with Gaterbelt (no, I don't watch the show; someone posted it on Facebook), and I hope someone will tell me what I should do with this TARDIS blue box with a TARDIS blue rose and ribbon.

Because I Felt Like It

Haroo, haroo
On the road to sweet Athy
Haroo, haroo
On the road to sweet Athy
A stick in the hand
A drop in the eyes
A doleful damsel I did cry
Johnny, I hardly knew ya
Haroo, haroo

Updating Without Poetry?! What the FU--
General | Posted 15 years agoThat's right! I'm updating my journal without a poem! BWAHAHAHA!!! I'm so evil! Nah, I'm joking. It's still Bartleby and I posting cool stuff.
"Same moves, same tights, same fuckin' drive" or somethin' like that.
Anyways, I have been very entertained with Latin homework and projects as of late. I had to make a PowerPoint using audio clips to find figures of speech in music. It was fun because I had never used Powerpoint so extensively. Nor had I ever used Audacity. It was very entertaining finding songs as well.
Anyway, I haven't drawn much lately, but I have been writing quite a bit. When I figure out how to properly post written work, I'll be submitting more of it.

Ex Tempore Poetry: "We Dwell in this Realm for a Reason"
General | Posted 15 years agoI can't sing
I can't dance
I have few talents
A fascination waith ants
A distorted rythm
A glowing beat
Sounding off in pairs
Music so sweet
I can feel it now
Such a blasphemous taste
Reverberating from them
Never to waste
I was their creation
I was their love
Sent to Hell
From Heaven above
I'll starve for you
I'll mourn you, too
But it will solve nothing
But begin it anew
I was never very good
With words and stuff
I think it was luck
I'm good at the bluff
But I care
I do, believe me
This is not about you
It's about me being free
Free from the torment
And the plagues of Hell
I am what I am
Despite how I fell
I'll see you in Heaven
I pray for that day
But I don't want it now
It's so far away
In due time, dear one
Keep my mouse company
Tell him I'll be there later
I'll be there eventually
I can't dance
I have few talents
A fascination waith ants
A distorted rythm
A glowing beat
Sounding off in pairs
Music so sweet
I can feel it now

Ex Tempore Poetry: "Missing Someone I Never Met"
General | Posted 15 years ago"It rips open and spills acid inside
What I've done, Who I've hurt
I can't even say that I tried"
"There was nothing you could do
You didn't even know until it was over
You helped when you could, didn't you?"
"It makes no difference, can't you see?
When one survives another is eaten
It's the rule of life, my Bartlbeby"
"Then why must you argue this?
You admit that you played no part
So how could you have made it go amiss?"
"If I never left in the first place,
Maybe I could have been a light
I could have been another friendly face"
"Yet, like you she was, a hidden treasure
Her parents ever-oblivious to her life
Meeting her would have been a pleasure"
"A pleasure I shall never have, Barleby
And it scars me inside, knowing it
Feeling my envy burn, knowing she is free"
"And you rejoice for her freedom, despite your lack
Which proves you chose your name poorly
You're not as heartless as it implies, are you, Jack?"
I laugh at your deduction slightly
Shaking my head, I begin to walk away
"We just met, but you know me too well, B."
What I've done, Who I've hurt
I can't even say that I tried"
"There was nothing you could do

Back in Business... Sort of.
General | Posted 15 years agoWell, I now have a working laptop, so I can actually post some work. However, I do not have access to my scanner, so I cannot post anything more recent than last year's sketches. I'll do my best to get some work posted, though.
I'm back!!
General | Posted 15 years agoHey there! My name is Jack, and it feels good to actually be back drawing and writing again. Unfortunately, my life is still fairly hectic, and I probably won't be able to submit any work until after Christmas, due to my lacking an accessible computer and scanner. I'll try to get some stuff submitted as soon as possible!
