More pikturz?!
General | Posted 13 years agoYes, yes, I am terrible at updating at any regular sort of pace. However, I've discovered that I am rather fond of sheep. Couldn't say why really, but they're just so adorable. I've discovered the Valais Blacknose sheep. Seriously, google it. You'll melt into a puddle of rainbows and glitter.
I suppose that is my next project, then: make a Valais BN character. :) I think it will be twins, one boy and one girl... or maybe just the girl. I need some awesome girl characters.

BATS!
General | Posted 13 years agoI love bats. Then again, I love anything associated with Halloween. Someone showed me a picture of a really cute bat. My reply was something akin to drowning in a pool of joyous rainbows. Someone else said they liked bats and rainbows... And so I decided to make a rainbow bat! His name is Roy Gareth Biv. (Yeah yeah, so unoriginal. Don't care! :D ) I have him sketched, but I need to scan and color him. He's going to be a spotted bat. I really like Spotted Bat ears. :) HUGE!
Anyway... expect an obnoxiously bright bat soon :D

Con Badges and Diets.
General | Posted 13 years agoDIETS! I'm on one. And it's working. Yay! It means if I ever get to make a suit, it's going to look real slick on me. Then again, it doesn't matter what size you are. If you're fuzzy, you're just adorable. :D As yoda said: "Size matters not." I'm just losing this weight for health reasons. Both sides of my family have weight-related issues so... yeah!
CON BADGES! I am working on some. I want to see how I do (Hence my latest submission of 86's badge) and so far so good. I'll have to get one of those self-laminating do-dads to make it look real nice... downsize his photo a bit... etc. I'll also be practicing on a few friends. Whatever price I charge, it will likely be less for graphite of course. My biggest worry is smudging under the laminate. I suppose if I hairspray it... but I don't know how that will affect the laminate. There's also the option of scanning and printing.... hmmmm... choices, choices. I'll have to play around with that.

Distractions!

I'll be working on coloring in some of my pictures finally. And I'm working on a picture of my husband's fursona which will now have to be modified again... actually never mind it won't. He got his lip pierced but... being half elephant (Asian flavored! :D )his lip will be hiding under his trunk.
Still working on my own picture. Why is it that I can draw other peoples' fursonas, but not my own? *Sigh* I really am a complicated beastie.
One of my other goals is to start working on mythological creatures. Ones that don't get a lot of attention, like the Cockatrice and the Dream Eaters of China. I'll also do the usuals as well. Gorgons, Minotaurs, Unicorns, etc. I think it just might be my niche. Making costumes for these would be a wondrous undertaking, but as usual, I am jobless and lacking funds. *Dies* X_X However! I shall be as resourceful as I can! A good artist works with what they have, nyah?
Well, that's all for now. :) *CHIRP!* <3

Newness
General | Posted 14 years agoI still consider myself quite new to the fandom even though I have now been in for seven years. It all started when I found out that not only is my husband a furry, but several of his (now my) friends are also furs. I had never known what that was until they kindly explained it to me. "Oh, we like art and stuff with anthros and animals." They then began to point certain things out, sharing artwork, introducing and re-introducing me to movies with animals and anthros in it (Robin Hood cartoon, Underworld, etc.) Even some comic books both online and printed. I was intrigued.
As I began to ponder this fandom, I thought "You know... I've never done a story with animal people in it." I'm a self-proclaimed writer, and of all the stories, I had never focused on a world of just...well.... Furries. So I decided to write one. I made a few characters up, and between me and my husband, we created several characters and lots of stories among them. I was so excited!
And then...
I discovered Fur Suiters. :O
I always liked hugs and affection. It was the cat in me. I loved plushy and fuzzy things, and here I found people dressing up and BEING those cute, adorable, and sometimes sexy and amazing things! I saw costumes ranging from super basic and plushy-like, to complex and realistic; from hand airbrushed, to taxidermy teeth to cooling fans in the suits to keep from overheating. People had even come up with blinking eyes, moving ears, wiggling tails, and digitigrade stilts. I was blown away. If there was one thing I ever adored from ANY geeky fandom, it was their resourcefulness! I knew I wanted to be a part of that. I just HAD to.
So here I am, drawing up my little sketches, writing stories, and will hopefully be working on my first suit. I had a wolf head started but unfortunately it is stuck back at my parents' place, crammed in a box. I fear the worst for it. Even so, it was a good start (articulate jaw) so I am willing to try again now that I have a grasp on my fursona.
Anyway.... that's how I got into this fandom. I hope to make lots of friends and explore my craftiness in many ways. Much love to all!
