Slacking off...
General | Posted 11 years agoI'm really terrible and watching my FA account! If you message me hear, or otherwise attempt to contact me through FA, please don't be offended if I don't get back to you right away. I have a tendency to forget to check my account and will sometimes go for a while before I get back on.
I'll try to do better.
Thank you for your patience!

Sprocket and Grizdog's FuBowling Tournament!...
General | Posted 12 years agoSprocket and I have scouted a local bowling alley, Brunswick Zone, in Colorado Springs. This location provides Bowling (Cosmic Bowling as well with black lights and lazers), Pool, Bar, Pizza!, Arcade, and a headless lounge!
http://www.bowlbrunswick.com/about-us/220/1
This event will be an opportunity to hobnob with local furs, and support a great local animal charity (TBA)!
A rough sketch of the night's activities will include a bowling tournament, followed by cosmic bowling, which also features the opportunity to win prizes and cash!
A portion of the registration fee for the tournament will go toward our charity (TBA - soon!).
You will register at the door for $20. This price will include bowling in the tournament, cosmic bowling afterward, and all you can eat/drink pizza and tonic (Tonic = Soda! For all you non-MA Sea-coast furs!)!
They also have plenty of pool tables and an arcade for those of you who know you'll have plenty of time after being knocked out of the tourney!
So, start forming your teams and get ready to bowl for bragging rights and charity! Woooooot!!!
Stay up to date by joining the meetup group!

The Long Haul
General | Posted 12 years agoI've been pretty vigilant with my running routine. I don't plan to change that. However, I have not yet incorporated a workout routine. I think that will happen soon. I'm sort of putting it off, but my procrastination is about to run out on that!
I'm eating better, that's for sure! Unfortunately, I'm not seeing any major changes in my weight. Whatever! I've decided that this change is going to be more or less permanent. So maybe in a month or two, I'll start seeing the changes I want to see.
It is what it is. I'm not giving up!

Fursuit Bowling is Now Official!
General | Posted 12 years agoThe date is now official, and we've got quite a group building for this event! Join the meetup.com site (if you haven't already) and RSVP for this event. Its kind of a pain to go through the sign up process, but its worth it!

Moe's Original BBQ & Bowling
There is public parking on the corner of Floyd and Broadway, which is directly across the street from Moe's Original BBQ (our venue).
Also, the Mattress King, which is right next door to Moe's, is only open until 7pm on Saturdays. Therefore, you should be able to park there as well (at least after 7pm).
They have a bathroom for changing in, but you may find it just as convenient to change in the parking lot at your vehicles.
Here is a link to Google maps, if you would like to observe the area before arriving. Remember to insert their address to see the location (3295 South Broadway, Englewood, CO):
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=...
The female I spoke with on the phone has been to RMFC! So she completely understands our group, and they know what to expect, so they are perfectly fine with having suiters in their alley. The only stipulation is that they would require any suiter to expose their face when presenting their ID for renting shoes and such.
Saturday nights are the best weekend nights, as they do not fill up quickly. Friday nights fill up fast and they are starting leagues. They need at least one week advance for a reservation, so we would need an RSVP head count 1 week before the event.
Individual bowling rate is $5. Lane rental per lane is $40 /hr. Each lane holds 6 furs. Shoe rentals are $3. Total per fur would be about $8 - $10, depending on whether you rent a lane with a group, or pay per string. I would recommend bowling with a group, as you'll get more bowling for less money.
Suiters (with feet paws) will not be required to rent shoes.
If you plan to bowl as a group (which is probably the case), we can start bowling as soon as we get a group of six bowlers.
Remember that they also serve food at this establishment, so plan accordingly, if you'd like to get dinner chow as part of your night out. The dinning facility and the bowling facility are actually two separate areas, so suiters should not have to be concerned about being around BBQ-style foods while bowling.

Fursuit Bowling!
General | Posted 12 years agoThis is a tentative date. I'm trying to find out who would be interested in attending. If this date is no good, its ok. If enough furs need a different date, it can be pushed back. There is no rush on this.

Keeping the Dream Alive
General | Posted 12 years agoI've been jogging for about an hour a day, almost every day this week. So far, I find my motivation has not decreased in any way! Yay!
I always bring music. It keeps me focused on the goal ahead of me. It also helps me to keep from focusing on the run itself. Focusing on the workout just kills me!
I'm starting to delve into videos to empower myself with knowledge. However, I haven't actually started "doing" anything. I need to start trying stuff, just to see what happens. I don't really have a space or a time when I'm alone. I'll need to get creative and find someway/somewhere to try things out. I think I'm doing the right thing by keeping my goal in mind and focusing on concepts and ideas, but I need to actually practice something.
I will find something!
I also haven't started incorporating a workout into my exercise routine. That will happen very soon. I will probably start doing that this weekend.
The good news is, I don't feel that I am slowing down in any way! I still want to do this as much as I did when I left RMFC! There are some roadblocks and obstacles, but that is to be expected.
NO REGRETS!

Pushing On
General | Posted 12 years agoI went for another long jog this morning. I'm glad I did it!
My legs were still pretty tired from yesterday, so I know my overall performance was a bit less, but that's mostly because I haven't done any PT for about a month. You'd think that wouldn't be possible, being that I'm in the Army, active duty, but due to the fact that I'm about to get out, I've been going to a lot of appointments for this process, so its kept me away from PT. And that has had its toll.
I will see how I feel tomorrow, but I may have to take a break one day or so this week, just to let my tired old legs recuperate!
I'm also doing that Intermittent Fasting. It works well for me. And the combination of these nice long jogs with the Intermittent Fasting seems to be having some really good results! However, I know that if I want these results to be more long term, then I need to incorporate some muscle building. I don't want to get big, so my routine will be more about longevity and endurance. That will give me muscle tone, without major size increase. I want that "dancer's body" kind of look.
So far, these jogs are not bad. I have my headset going with wicked dance tunes. That keeps me daydreaming about dancing. I can't dance yet, but I'll be working on those moves! Till then, I can dream! It will be enough to keep me focused and motivated.
Wooooot!!!

Back from a Run
General | Posted 12 years agoI just finished a nice, long, easy (but reasonably challenging) run. I sweat a lot!
It helps me tremendously to have music. I listen to the kind of music I would like to dance to. This helps me to get lost in daydreams while I run, rather than being focused on the time, or distance. I really hate running! Its just so boring. But I love daydreaming and I love the idea of being able to become something I really want to do.
The goal is to find time to do this every day. Its not a hard run, so I shouldn't be worried about killing myself. Its just for long cardio to burn off tons of calories. I know there will be days when this will be hard for me, but the major cause of the difficulty isn't time or knowledge, its just will. Its all in my head. I sometimes feel like I have no discipline, and no vision.
Help keep me focused on my goal, furs!

Finding the next step...
General | Posted 12 years agoIn my last journal entry, I mentioned my intention to enter the fursuit dance comp in RMFC 2014.
I've been contemplating my next move over the last few days. Thing is, I know absolutely nothing about dancing! I figure these are the things I need to do to get myself headed in the right direction:
1.) Start doing lots of cardio! I need to lose some weight. Not just for esthetics, although that would be nice, but mainly because it will enable me to perform better.
-a.) Get a copy of Dance Central (and find someplace private to use it). This step is hard for me, but I'll make it work.
-b.) Start doing some light jogging, and other cardio-based exercise. I can mix it up at the gym and track to keep from getting bored. The idea is to keep my heart rate up for at least an hour. This is also good for my Army PT, so its just another good reason to start making this a major pursuit in my life.
2.) Start learning how to say no to junk food. This alone would probably make a huge difference in my calorie intake! I've definitely gotten better over the years, but its time to improve my standards.
3.) Start learning some basic steps from YouTube. YouTube knows everything! I've seen some good tutorials there, and I'm sure with a little practice I could learn some steps and routines. I figure by learning what's out there, once I start to get confident with existing methods, I'll start to really enjoy it, and then I'll start to develop my own style. I already have an idea of the kinds of moves I like, so I can start looking for steps and routines that mimic the kind of style I already know I like. It will evolve from there.
4.) Go to more furcons! In suit, I'm a lot braver than I am out of suit. The dance nights at cons are a good opportunity to practice things I learn without the enormous burden of my societal training.
5.) Learn what I can from other furs who can dance. Imitation is the greatest form of flattery. Mentorship is also a powerful source of learning. I will learn what I can, from whomever I can.
These steps are not necessarily in order. In fact, I'd say there is no real order, as they can, and should be, executed concurrently.
Some of these ideas come by way of common sense, I suppose. But some of it also comes by way of good advice from a very good source. Thank you again, Kendi! I hope I really get addicted to this stuff, like you are! :)
Wish me luck, furs. This is going to be a tough, new venture for me. Its WAAAAAY out of my comfort zone! But I plan to be ready for RMFC 2014! Woooooot!!!

RMFC 2013 - My first Furcon!
General | Posted 12 years agoIts the day after RMFC (Well, for most furs it is, but for me, its just the afternoon of the same day I finally left!).
I am still completely overwhelmed with just how amazing this experience was for me! There are so many memories to process. I imagine I will be doing it for some time.
It is likely that the most significant experience for me was the opportunity to step outside of myself to do things that I have never done before. I have been inspired to go even further! I plan to enter the fursuit dance competition for next year, and I will do this in another suit, which I will begin work on shortly.
I have never danced before. Well, that is not entirely true now, thanks to Kendi! Wooooot!! Thank you Kendi!
Anywho, I have a lot to learn in order to be capable to perform something, even basic, in time for the next RMFC. Its a whole year, but you know how time can get away from you! Focus, focus, focus!!!
At RMFC 2013, I'll be throwing caution to the wind! Wish me luck!! :)
