FWA23 Report, MFF23, Cons and Coms
Posted 2 years agoVery awkward, but I actually think I never mentioned I would be at FWA23, selling prints and doing sketchbook coms. Not here on FA at least, so that's my bad. I've had a LOT of animation work since the beginning of this year, so I've forgotten more than a few things.
BUT yeah, FWA23 had some good and some bad, almost split right down the middle of my stay there.
Bad Stuff:
-The area around the con isn't the best. It's not terrible, but I live out in the sticks in Alabama, so it's a a culture shock for me. I can get over this.
-FWA Artist Alley had some fuck-up in regards to how people signed up to be in it. I don't know the full story, so I'm not going to assign blame - but a lottery system akin to MFF makes more sense to me, opposed to first-come, first-serve. Friday, I was unable to snag a table because I had assumed that sign ups would be done the hour before, which they weren't. So I had to consider the worst case scenario - that I may not be able to get into the AA, and not be able to recoup the $800 or so I had dropped on a printer and materials. Not fun, but I did it to myself by spending all that.
Good Stuff:
- Things turned around when I got into the AA on Saturday - I filled up on sketchbook coms and sold a decent number of prints throughout the day. Sunday had a few sales, but at that point I think people are out of money and extremely sleep-deprived.
- I was able to talk a bit of shop with people, and spend some time with friends. Of course, I could always do this, but it's still nice to do.
- I made enough to pay for the con and put some to paying off the materiel expense, which is EXTREMELY nice. Very based, thanks to everyone who stopped by, even if just to look.
PRINT INFO:
For people interested in this part - my print selection consisted of 24 images (25 actually, but I that was a test print that someone bought anyway) selected from the last 4 years. 10 Prints were Patreon exclusive things that had never been posted off Patreon. I'll be uploading some of those over the next few weeks.
I chose EPSON Premium Matte and Premium Glossy to experiment with, with both types coming out beautifully - all I could ask for is the matter be a little touch thicker. (Obviously). I chose 10 prints to do 5 glossy 5 matte prints, and the rest got 5 matte prints. The content itself ranges from pure SFW (art I've done under the BrokenMOJO name) to full-on nude pin ups (covered in sticky notes of course, to protect the 13 year olds they let in for some reason).
Prints were 1 for $10, 3 for $25 - a price point I've seen before, tho I noticed that made it awkward to buy more than 3. Maybe 5 for $40?
I've had several people strongly encourage me to sell prints online, which I'm considering. If you have a particular image I've done you would like to see a print of, just tell me via a comment or Note. (I'm going to hold off on commission work featuring other people's characters.)
OTHER CONS:
I'm going to be at MFF 23 certainly, doing the same stuff. I'm looking into AnthroCon and Furry Fiesta as other cons to go to, as they are pretty large and are reasonably driven to.
Lastly, I've reopen the Doodle Stream Commission form. I'm going to be working through more coms, mainly on Saturdays, for the next couple of months.

2023 Coms Closed.
Posted 2 years agoDecided to close up the Commission Forms!
There' a pretty big backlog in there already, and I'm probably going to take the rest of the year to work through them. Next few months, I'm not going to have a lot of time for coms unfortunately.
As always, feel free to seek out another artist if the wait time is unbearable. We can always swap to a different idea when your name comes up.

Commission Forms for 2023
Posted 2 years agoThere's three of them:
Doodle - https://forms.gle/f5zW2n469uUHQKgJA
General - https://forms.gle/rLDuZMZLcgt8kSDp6
SpeedPaint - https://forms.gle/VxJqzFDR3onCQeGr9
Each is for a different kind of commission, obviously.
Biggest changes:
- All commission work will be done on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
- While the Doodle Coms will remain a queue, entries in the other two forms will be taken on by my interest level in them.
- Each week will have different streams, commission types that I select, etc. I'm mainly looking to earn a stable, reliable income, while producing high-quality artwork.

The PostConClarity Journal - MFF2022
Posted 3 years agoFirst - thanks to everyone who approached me for a commission - I greatly appreciate it! Being able to break even on the trip was very much needed.
Having to turn people away wasn't fun, but it's good problem to have. I was VERY serious about getting every com done, since being on paper meant they needed to be hand delivered - or else we would need to mess with UPS, which I really REALLY did not trust.
I found the con to be enjoyable this year - working in the AA was oddly relaxing, especially after they started managing the crowd after the first day. People watching at a furry convention leads to some rare finds. Now, I didn't actually DO anything at the con besides work, hang out with friends, and walk around the DD and AA twice. That's fine tho, most of the panels at the con aren't really my thing. I wished I could have talked to some other artists more, but that's on me to track them down. I just wanna talk shop lol
My sights are now set on AnthroCon and possibly FWA - FWA is only a 3 hour trip for me, but it's a month and a half before AC, so that much vacation time might be hard. We'll see what happens.

MOJO at MFF 2022 - In-person Sketchbook Coms
Posted 3 years agoYeah, going to be there next weekend.
If possible, I'm going to get a table in the Artist Alley or Menagerie or whatever they changed the name to.
Whatever the one that lets you just do sketchbook commissions, which I will be accepting. Artwork will be just like the stuff in the Trad folder in my gallery.
I'll use my discord and twitter for updates on where I am and what day(s) I'm doing it. I have nothing else to offer, unless someone offers to buy one of the originals already in the sketchbook.
Price-wise I'm thinking $40 for small sketchbook (8.5x5.5 in), $100 for big sketchbook (9x12 in).
(I'm aware of some troubling changes that are in effect for this year's MFF - I don't think they'll effect me.)

There's a good chance I'll come back to other entries in this form, time depending. I'm thinking about using Fridays to do speed paint coms, but time is short.

Commissions Update
Posted 3 years agoHey Everyone - I've decided to dump most of the main commission queue. 60+ slots. Between my daily life and own personal work, it's going to take me months and months to slowly grind through them.
All prepaid work WILL be completed when I get done with my current project.
I know some people are fine with waiting a long time for their slot to come up, but it bothers me too much.
From now on, I'm only going to open limited commission slots that will be done in 1-3 weeks each batch. This will be done with the same form system.
Doodle Coms are unaffected by all this.
I apologize to everyone who has waited patiently for their slot. There were a lot of new people who I never got to. I'm only one dude and drawing takes a lot of time to do.

2022 Updates and Such (Commission Info)
Posted 3 years agoHeya, just some general updates on things going on:
-The Main Com for is CLOSED for now. There's a backlog of ~70 entries I need to work through (as of now, none are paid for - I only require payment the week I plan to do it!). This will take the rest of the year.
-Doodle form is still OPEN. The backlog is only 12, which is two days of streaming, so you can still get a simple 1 char com from me. Flat Rate - $40 (Raised from $30 on 5/30/2022) Posted 40+ examples today.
-Patreon is still up and being updated! We're running a 12 entry Character Creator Poll currently. I've got a small pile of Paywalled stuff there - My Chars, Fanart, NSFW, SFW, etc. Trying to post weekly, or at least twice a month. Feel free to support my ass if you want!
-I've had some internet difficulty the past few weeks that SEEMS to have cleared up now. This made streaming hard, but I could work off stream well enough. I'm pretty sure this is an structural issue, so my internet could go out for an extended time. Just a heads up.
-For the past few years, I've been running a (mostly) non-furry animation channel (BrokenMOJO) on Youtube/Newgrounds. This is completely separate from everything I do under the "GreasyMOJO™©" name, but I don't care if people know. It takes up a lot of my time, mainly because I have a lot of fun doing it. I'm mostly saying this to explain why I vanish sometimes - It's like having two jobs I alternate between through the year. (If anyone is interested, I have another Patreon account for BrokenMOJOPatreon)
-Currently, my main goal is to focus on the Animation Work under BrokenMOJO and Patreon stuff under GreasyMOJO, and achieve blissful "financial balance," without needing 1-2 month long periods to grind through commission work for people. I'm just saying all this for transparency, all y'all really know is that I'll be drawing furry babes until the day I die.

New Commission Form for Doodle Stream
Posted 4 years agoI threw together a commission form for small doodles and shit.
Just like give me a character/idea, and I'll wing it. About 30-40 mins on each one.
$30 each.
All of them would be in a loose style, like the included pics.
First Stream will be sometime during the week after Christmas, so If you got any Holiday Ideas this is where to put them.

Got that 10k Watchers
Posted 4 years agoYep, that's a pretty big milestone. I still remember celebrating getting 200 watchers just a few years ago.
I have no time in my schedule, but I'd like to actually celebrate this one, as 10k is quite a lot on FurAffinity. I only hit 5k in September 2019.
Going forward, I hope to have some more arts that aren't just Coms or Adopts, and actually start using my own characters for pinups. But we'll see

COMMISSIONs are OPEN
Posted 4 years agoOPENING COMMISSIONS
Some examples are included in the form. I'm also thinking of putting out another form for quick sketch streams on weekends for people who want some smaller stuff.
I plan to keep this form up for a while, but if it gets flooded again, I'll have to close it.

Taking some Commission Slots for SPOOKHALLOTOBERWEEN
Posted 4 years agoYeah, just opening some slots. Doesn't have to be Halloween related, but I'd like to see one or two.
I plan on doing this in the next 2-3 weeks, so slots are limited.

Pause on Commissions
Posted 4 years agoSo, no coms this month. I've decided to dedicate July to finishing an animation that's been in the works for a while now. An original, terrible idea that makes me laugh.
In August, I'll get back around to finishing the queue and THEN reopening.
I get lots of messages asking for coms and such, opening, not opening, rules, etc, so I thought I'd need to say something to explain me not existing for a few weeks.
NOTE: When I talk about my commission queue, I'm NOT referring to a backlog of ALREADY PAID work I need to do. I only take payment the week I'm planning on doing it. Just sayin' since I don't want people to think I make people wait months for something they've paid for.

hey look commissions are open
Posted 4 years agoHeya, I'm back open for commissions.
I've upped my prices to avoid being flooded, but I'll be opening slots for some cheaper sketches soon. Some painting slots later as well.
I'll be working on coms on Stream by Friday at the earliest.

2021 Updates
Posted 4 years agoHey everyone, I'm going to start grinding on my commission queue again this week or the next. Holidays and things really knocked me off track. The forms are closed for now, until I can cut it down more, but hopefully I can manage.
Mainly, I'm going to try and clear out the QuickArt Queue this month. If you have been waiting on a full render slot, I'm going to probably not do those for a long while unfortunately. I'm expect more than a few people to pass on their slot, since a lot of these coms are old.
I'm going to be less active here and on these accounts (FA/Twitter/Etc.) this year. Going to try some other things. I've done too many commissions and not enough of my own work.

The Great Commission Flush
Posted 5 years agoAlright, I've contacted everyone who I'm offering commissions to. Please check your DMs on discord/FA/twitter. If I don't here back by the end of the week, you're getting flushed. (Not a fetish.)

Starting back on Commissions.
Posted 5 years agoI'm going to restart working on coms starting next Sunday. I'll be contacted everyone left in the commission queues to see if they are still interested and take on everyone who is. My plan is to flush the queues like this and reopen for new coms in November or maybe sooner.
To the people who have a few entries in the queue, I'm going to offer to take on everything you have in there, but if you pass on something it's getting flushed as well. The Full Render queue might function differently. I'll do a write up on the whole process once I get to it.

Taking a Break for a Few Weeks.
Posted 5 years agoI'm going to be taking a break for a few weeks. I'll keep doing my monthly paintings/sketches for Patreon, but no more Coms for a while.
I'm going to be moving into a new house soon, so I'm going to need to smooth out all that.

Both these forms are just commission repositories because I don't want to deal with people messaging me constantly about coms. Throw a entry in the form, and wait for ME to contact YOU. It won't completely solve my problem, but will curb it quite a bit.

May 2020 Updates
Posted 5 years agoI had to stop everything on the GreasyMOJO accounts so I could enter a crunch on my animation, and now I'm taking it easy for a bit. I am working on revising my commission forms and I'll put those up today or tomorrow. I plan to start working on coms again next week. I may need to take breaks from this account in the future, so don't be surprised if I go silent for a few weeks. I'm trying to schedule working on my SFW account, practicing art, building a Patreon, and doing commissions. It's too much, I know, but I gotta do it.
Updates of Coms
Posted 5 years agoI've been getting a lot of questions on COMMISSIONS, so I'll give some info:
In late April or May, I'll be able to open coms again. Full painterly things, Linearts, cellshades, whatever. Price range from $50 to $300+
Whenever I take on a COMMISSION, I generally have a very solid idea of when I'm going to do it. That time frame usually places it within a month or so.
If I don't have a time frame, I'm probably not going to be taking commissions.
A lot of my time is going towards an animation and things for Patreon. For the past 6-7 months, I've been doing weekly commissions, with some larger commissions here and there. I'm trying to allocate as much time as I can to each aspect as I can.
As time moves on, I may switch to doing mainly larger painting commissions at higher prices ($300+), as I think this will give me the work/time balance I need to be comfortable financially while having enough time for personal projects. Happiness and such, you know?

A lot of my time is going towards an animation and things for Patreon. For the past 6-7 months, I've been doing weekly commissions, with some larger commissions here and there. I'm trying to allocate as much time as I can to each aspect as I can.
As time moves on, I may switch to doing mainly larger painting commissions at higher prices ($300+), as I think this will give me the work/time balance I need to be comfortable financially while having enough time for personal projects. Happiness and such, you know?
