Posted 16 years agoNo, I will not be doing any ustreaming. Not now, not for the foreseeable future. There are two reasons for this. Actually, three.
1) I'd need a Webcam, since I do most of my drawing using traditional media.
2) My campus network has a pesky habit of severing connections at inconvenient times, and
3) Nobody wants to watch me draw chicken scratches for half an hour, then spend another half an hour erasing the stray lines. Believe me, it's boring.
That's all.

Mongo's FA Rant
Posted 17 years agoI know I don't say very much on here in my journals concerning FA affairs, but I feel prompted to do so here and now.
As many of you know, I'm on dA more than I am on here, and those of you from dA may know that I haven't exactly been in love with the direction they have been taking the site. I have said before, multiple times, that dA feels more like a popularity contest now than it did back when I joined in 2006. That's one thing I liked about FA; the pageviews didn't really matter all that much.
Emphasis is on the word "liked".
Now I am all for having personal achievements and all of that, but to put a ranking on an artist based on what statistics would suggest to be "popularity" is simply absurd, and it makes me want to tear my hair out at the thought that FA is slowly turning into yet another popularity contest. Why? Because having sat through drama after drama over the pettiest things on this site, I can only imagine what this is going to turn into in a couple of days.
Before I go and say something I will end up regretting, let me simply say this: "Popularity" is not a measure of talent or skill. It is a number; an arbitrary, almost meaningless number. There is no point to getting into a tizzy about something as trivial as a number that means nothing. If you want popularity, go (back) to high school or audition for American Idol. Don't come to an art site and fill your head with notions of having an army of devotees and fans that will attend to your every waking need.
