Because there are a couple people I know on there who only use discord and that's the only way to contact them. So I'm a little stuck. And one of them are in one of the groups.
And they'd make me pay if I left these groups anyway.

Posted 9 years agoDon't you hate it when someone passively aggressively tell you your opinion is shit and their opinion is fact? Whatever the subject matter is.
Take FFXV for example . I've seen people including someone tell me that they hate the combat system and that they prefer the ATB system. That's fine. Then they tell people including myself that it doesn't belong in a core ff game and that it's crappy overall. They use such arguments as:
"Its fine if you like it but its pretty shitty nonetheless. You can like shit. I do"
or
"It's such a radical change which begs the question why? If I made Zelda into a racing game, would you still call it Zelda?"
It's things like that which translate to "I respect your opinion except i don't" which piss me the fuck off. Who are you to say it doesn't belong? Who are you to say that I like shit because you prefer another system? Your arguments boil down to "this is radically different in main franchise I like, how dare they!"
So you're saying Ninja Gaiden 1 and 2 on the Xbox and 360 respectfully are bad games because they're not action platformers? That Mario making the jump from 2d to 3d is a bad thing now?
You then usually hear this 'rebuttal'.

It's called being flexible and not stuck in the past, a rarity these days. I'm not saying that you have to like ffxv's combat or hate turn-based systems. I love both so I'm fine either way. But don't go pulling criticisms out of your ass or say that it 'doesn't belong' as fact because you prefer an older system to the newer.
Your preferences are not fact so don't go trying to push it on others especially in the most passive aggressive way possible. It makes you look like you have nostalgia goggles glued on. Newsflash, the old was not perfect. Stop trying to act like it is.
One more thing since we're on the subject of FFXV. The idea that it was a cashgrab.
Yeah 10 years of on and off development hell, fiscal year deadlines, response to the fans criticisms, implementing features to the combat, the fact the dev team was a wreck before Tabata took control and salvaged what they could of this mess and that they had just over 3 years to make this ambitious game, not 10 totally screams cashgrab.....
I love FFXV but it has problems, a few big ones. But it's clear that there was passion from Tabata and the dev team to make this the best game they could in what limited time they had in this game. It's clear that development hell was a big cause for the poor conveyance of the plot, the cut areas and so on. They were clear about that from day 1 so throwing buzzwords like cashgrab is the most disingenuous, intellectually lazy and ignorant things one can do. Again. You can criticise but don't pull criticisms out of your ass. Calling people fanboys when they call you out on some of your misinformation just shows what kind of person you are; no better than what you label people.

I'm not saying you have to like Boom. I'm not saying the show is perfect. No shit it's got a lot of improving to do. I'm not saying the Wii U game and the first 3ds game are awesome because they're not. God no they're not. Personally I can't stand those artists who draw overly bubbly inspiration comics trying to tell me how black and white the situation is concerning my art and my feelings towards it and the people's reactions. To my they sound patronising and they're always on tumblr too. I'll just add that to the list of reasons why I'll never sign up to that site ever XD. Fitting concerning that site's overall attitude. Fuck that site...........

Posted 9 years agoI apologise for the lack of Halloween updates but I do have a explanation for it
It's been a rough week on a personal level and that has killed my motivation, especially with how I look at my art. I can't shake the feeling that it sucks, that I'm doomed to always fail. It doesn't help that while I'm thankful that I got advice, I'm told (despite following similar steps to try and get painstakingly better for a while) I've been doing things all wrong the whole time regardless. I have at least two pictures ready to be uploaded, but I've been told that the soft shading techniques I've used and have been trying to improve upon looks cheap, that soft shading as a whole makes a picture look cheap. I know it shouldn't get to me but it does. It makes my work as a whole feel cheap, worthless and embarrassing.
I'll be truthful, to you and to myself. I don't respond well to harsh criticism and I'm anxious when the day comes that a number of people let all hell loose on my work and tell me that it 'sucks', that I should be 'ashamed' and so on. Don't get me wrong, if someone comes to criticise what I draw, I'll kindly tell them to fuck off. It's not what I draw that I'm worried about, it's how I draw it. I'll tell you why because hiding it is killing me inside.
It's because I've done it myself in my head. I've never commented on those pieces because the back button exists for a reason but sometimes I think, 'Man I'd rather not look at that piece', 'It looks awful' or 'it's eh'. Hypocritical? Totally. I'm ashamed of doing it which is why whenever someone asks me about how their art is and it's not the best of drawings, I'll tell them truthfully that it's not the best but also how to improve so they can reach the same level as their favourite artist or even surpass them in time. It's because its true that it can happen. But the fact is that initial thought still crosses my mind and I know it makes me a horrible person. Feel free to call me that, I know I deserve it.
I've have this paranoia that many people who comment on my work, including many who are better than me are only speaking positively about my work to appear nice when they think it's actually awful. Yes that includes friends. Crazy right? And because it includes friends, I've been trying to distance myself away from them, not just to lessen this overbearing paranoia but to make sure they don't have to deal with my complaining about this whole subject. I know they're sick of it. I'm sick of it. I try to change the subject in my mind but I just can't contain my thoughts and I can't stand it.
