Welcome
Posted 3 years agoWow, I’ve gotten a lot of new watchers lately. I assume most of you got here from
kadath posting the comic we did in 2013. It’s been nice seeing all the comments on each page. It was definitely one of my favorite projects.
I haven’t been super active in posting here for a bit. I mostly lurk, fave, and save. And get the occasional commission. ^^
Have fun browsing the gallery. Drop a comment if you like. All for now.

Mephit FurMeet 2019 - who's going?
Posted 6 years agoArf,
I'll be at MFM this year. As usual, I'll be in the dealers room at the FurPlanet table. Just wondering who I'm gonna see there.

Anthrocon 2019 con report
Posted 6 years agoI haven't written one of these in a long time, but what the heck.
I had missed the two previous Anthrocons due to either back issues or work time off so it was great to return this year. My long absence had started to make me feel less connected to my community. Being back in Pittsburgh for AC was something I really needed.
My back is still iffy these days. I can walk just fine without pain most days, but bending over or leaning down to pick something up repeatedly causes strain and there was no way I could work the FurPlanet table as fully as I had before.
All the FurPlanet work I did for our Anthrocon appearance was done before the con like working on layouts, ordering promo posters and business cards, making arrangements with artists for stock they wanted for their tables, etc. This led to a pretty chill convention for me. Whenever I was behind the table, I was only there to rest my back from the walk from the hotel or to chat to people. I felt I should be there a little while as the owner of the company, but the team of my husband and our friends had things under control so I wasn't needed there.
One thing which always seems to become a focus of my time is who I'm having dinner with. Since there are only three days, and usually several people I want to catch up with, I have to make dinner plans fairly early.
Dinners this year were:
Friday: Lidia's, an excellent local Italian restaurant, with Teiran, Zia, Buck, Savrin, and Brer and Fugue from Sofawolf.
Saturday: Ten Penny with the Ringtail Cafe/Furry Mystery Box team. I had the pirogies here, which I hadn't had in years. Figured I'd take advantage of being back east to have some.
Sunday: Bill's Burgers in the Westin with Kadath and Kaylii. Bill's has delicious burgers and also specializes in excellent, and huge, milkshakes.
Sunday night I was invited to participate in what has become a con tradition where a mix of podcasters and writers, often both, get together to do a group recording which will show up on one or more podcast feeds in the future. It's a lot of fun and I enjoy being there to listen to what the fandom authors are discussing and to occasionally put in my two cents on a topic.
AC has long been one of my favorite cons in no small part due to the way the city of Pittsburgh opens its arms to us. For a few days, several blocks of a big US city basically becomes Zootopia. All the restaurants have furry-themed menus, there are over 9,000 furries in the immediate area, locals in the area are curious or delighted that we're there, and you're basically free to be as openly furry and weird as you're comfortable with. It's a very positive and welcoming environment.
This year's con was all about relaxing, catching up with friends I hadn't seen or been able to chat to in person for a while, and reconnecting with one of my favorite parts of the fandom.
On the business front, this was possibly FurPlanet's best convention in terms of sales yet. We introduced 19 new titles and sold through a ton of our stock. I also touched base with a few of our creators who were in attendance, which I feel is important.
That's about it. It was a good con, to quote the Foxes and Pepper's song.

Furlandia 2017
Posted 8 years agoHey, how about this. I'll be attending a con I'm not dealing at! :-D
I've never been to Furlandia. For that matter, I've never been to Portland or even Oregon so I'll get to cross another state off the list.
As I said, I won't be dealing. I'm not even on panels. I decided super last minute to go, like a week ago. I know there are a handful of furry writers going so I hope to hang out with some of them and chat about writing and such. Also, the Furry Writers Guild award, Coyotl Award, presentation is at this con so I'm going to attend that and cheer on the winners.
Anyone reading this planning to attend? I'll have time on my paws so I might be up for hanging out and chatting. I do plan to attend the writing panels and the Foxes & Peppers show, but that's about all for now.

Update
Posted 8 years agoJust a quick journal to push the older one off.
I am mostly active on Twitter these days, you can find me there under the same username, FuzzWolf.
As for FA, I rarely ever updated my journal here anyway, but lately I've been thinking of shutting down this account. It's nothing to do with FA itself, I've just kinda lost interest. I haven't lost interest in furry, but I'm not obsessive about saving all the art like I used to be. I usually nuke more than I view these days.
Eh, I might leave it around. Who knows.

Orlando Pulse nightclub shooting
Posted 9 years agoFor those who haven't heard, there was a mass shooting at a gay club in Orlando last night. 50 people were killed and 53 wounded. It is now the deadliest mass shooting in the United States.

Central Plains Fur Con is next weekend!
Posted 10 years agoI went to Mephit Furmeet on a spur of the moment in September and I'm doing it again this month. Luckily it's still possible to get a room and register at smaller cons, even at the last minute.
So, Central Plains Fur Con, http://www.cpfurcon.com/, is in Wichita, KS this coming weekend. November 6 - 8.
The hotel has free meals all weekend plus 3 free adult beverages in the evening. The hotel restaurant is also most excellent.
I'm not dealing this year so I'm just going to be hanging out, luxuriating in the hotel bed, probably reading in their lovely lobby, etc.
It's a tiny convention, but I'd love to see it grow so I'm hoping some people see this and decide to attend. *wags*

Here's where I'll be at Anthrocon
Posted 10 years agoWhere are you staying?
Courtyard Murriott
What day are you getting there?
Late Thursday night.
How long are you going?
Thursday around 11pm to Sunday evening. Gonna be a shorter trip this time.
How are you traveling?
Flying since I couldn't get the time off to drive.
Who will you be rooming with?
Teiran nuwisha55 and Cyanni
What is the best way to find you?
I should be at the FurPlanet tables most of the con. You can also shout at me on Twitter @ FuzzWolf. If I have signal I'll be checking it routinely and tweeting for FurPlanet.
Are there any panels you might be attending?
I don't think I'm on any this year. Scheduling that slipped through my fingers since I was busy with prepping new releases for the con.
What do you look like?
Chubby white guy with a goatee and glasses. I materialized at a sci-fi con and my chameleon circuit got stuck. :-P
Will you be suiting?
Nope
Do you do free art?
Not an artist
Do you do trades?
I only trade books and comics for cash or credit. :-D
What is your gender?
Furfag.
How tall are you?
5'8"
Can I talk to you?
Sure, I gotta sell you stuff somehow.
Can I touch you?
Only if I know you really well.
Can I visit your room?
Unlikely, I usually hide in my room when I hit socialization overload.
Can I buy you drinks?
If it's unopened, sure. I prefer Coke Zero.
Can I give you stuff?
As long as it's not an STD.
Can I hug or snuggle with you?
Maaaaybe, if you're cute.
Are you nice?
As long as I've had a sandwich in the last three hours. I'm hypoglycemic.
Do you have an artist table?
Dealers Den, tables A09/10/11. When you enter, turn left and we'll be halfway up the aisle against the concrete wall. Look for a row of posters and our burgundy table covers.
Will you be going to parties?
Probably at least one.
Will you be performing?
Possible oral or anal if I find a willing twink.
If I see you, how should I get your attention?
Just say "Hey, Fuzz" or something. I'll be wearing a con badge.
Where will you be most of the time during the day/s?
Dealers Den.
What/where will you be eating?
I usually end up at Tonic at least once and probably that other place across the street from the Courtyard. You know the place, fff, I can't remember the name.
Can I come with you for food/fun/etc?
If I know you and our group isn't already huge. Just ask first, don't be one of those guys who invite themselves along.
Can I take your picture?
I'm not photogenic.
What's your goal(s) for the con this year?
Sell lots of stuff and maybe catch up with a couple of friends.

Open for typography commissions
Posted 10 years agoSo, what's a typography commission?
I'm starting to offer typography services for writers. Professional typography improves the readability of a story in both print and eBook format. There are lots of little details that go into a book layout which the reader doesn't consciously notice, but which make the reading experience much more enjoyable.
What typography is: typography is the art of manipulating the text of a story in a layout program for maximum comfort and readability. This includes, but is not limited to, adjusting margins, font, font size, leading, kerning, paragraph styles and page size.
What typography is not: this process does not include editing, proofreading or publishing.
My experience: I've owned FurPlanet since March of 2008. My responsibilities at FurPlanet include typesetting a number of the novels and short story anthologies we publish. I use Adobe In Design CS6 for typesetting.
What you get: a print-ready PDF of your book and two electronic formats—epub and mobi (aka Kindle)
My pricing is subject to change once I become more experienced at freelancing, but for now here's what I've come up with:
Short stories up to 15,000 - $25
Novellas between 15,001 and 30,000 words - $50
Novels between 30,001 and 50,000 words - $100
Novel between 50,001 and 100,000 words - $200
Over that, we'll talk
Email me at fuzzwolf[at]furplanet.com to discuss.
If anyone has any questions I'll be happy to help.

Furry Weekend Atlanta - Where to find me, etc.
Posted 10 years agoIt's a little over a week till FWA so who all is going? I'm hoping to have a good time this year.
I'm not officially on any panels, but Rechan asked me to sit in on the "How to get published" panel. It is at 5pm on Friday. I'll be closing up shop in the dealers room a little early to attend.
I may also check out some other writing panels. FWA is usually pretty light on the writing track, but this year Rechan, Nighteyes and Robert Baird are doing several so that's a good thing.
What days will you be there? Arriving late Thursday, leaving Monday morning early
Who will you hang out with during the convention? I'm rooming with
Donryu and
zexyz There are several folks I hope to hang out with or get dinner with:
Rinzy,
Lyenuv of
outlandishstudios,
Rechan,
nighteyes,
kilcodo, and
Rukis There are probably others, but as mentioned above my memory is terrible.

Attending parties? I'm not a big party person, but I may check out a couple if friends are there.

Do you smoke? I smoke hookah with friends occasionally
Are you attending any panels? I'd like to attend the writing panels, the ones not during dealing hours anyway.
How do I identify my self to you? Say hello, and don't get offended if I don't remember your name. I have a horrible memory. D:
Rules of engagement: Feel free to ask me about the books I'm selling. Please don't tell me about your epic novel idea though, we don't take submissions in person. :-P

Any questions?
Additional note: sched.org is a pretty cool schedule management site which more furry cons are starting to use, including this year's TFF. You can find the con's online schedule here: http://fwa2015.sched.org/

Can I give you lots of money? Heck yes!
Can I hug or snuggle with you? If you have to ask the answer is probably no.
Can I hang out with you? Same as above.
How do I know if you're not looking to socialize (angry, busy or upset)? If it's during dealing hours or I appear to be rushing somewhere then I'm not looking to socialize.
What's your goal for the con this year? Represent my company and sell well for the artists and authors we work with. Same as usual.
Any questions?
Additional note: sched.org is a pretty cool schedule management site which more furry cons are starting to use, including this year's TFF. You can find the con's online schedule here: http://fwa2015.sched.org/
Furry Fiesta 2015 pre-con info :)
Posted 10 years agoIn two weeks our home town con, Furry Fiesta, will be here! I'm excited to see lots of friends who come to Dallas for the con. I'm on a couple of panels too. Here's where to find me and what I'll be up to.
Panels I'm on:
Publishing Q&A, Saturday, 12:30pm - 1:30pm in Panel Room 1. F2: Lalique Ballroom
Do you have questions about how to get published and other questions about the publishing process? The owner of FurPlanet will be on hand to take your questions. We can also discuss submitting to anthologies and other general questions about publishing in the fandom and the resources available to writers.
Unsheathed Live, Saturday, 10:00pm - 11:30pm in Panel Room 2. F2: Spectrum
Kyell Gold and FuzzWolf will be recording an episode of KnotSheathed, the Unsheathed/KnotCast combo show. The wolf and fox will discuss something to do with writing, chat, and also take audience questions. The show is fun and informative, especially for those interested in writing in the fandom.
Gender: Mayonaise
Relationship Status: Married
How old are you? 38
How tall are you? 5'8"
Are you an Artist? Nope
Do you have an artist table? I have a dealer's table FurPlanet. Walk in and we'll be on the wall to your right.
What will you be offering at your table? Furry books and comics.
Are you a Fursuiter? Nope
Attending parties? The FurPlanet team will likely end up hosting room parties each night. We got a pretty sweet suite. :D
Do you drink? Occasionally, not very often though.
Do you smoke? I smoke hookah with friends occasionally
Are you attending any panels? If I can break away from the table there are several panels and events I'd like to attend.
How do I identify my self to you? Say hello, and don't get offended if I don't remember your name. I have a horrible memory. D:
Rules of engagement: Feel free to ask me about the books I'm selling. Please don't tell me about your epic novel idea though, we don't take submissions in person. :-P

Con report: Central Plains FurCon 2014
Posted 11 years agoI haven't written a con report in a while, but I wanted to do one for Central Plains FurCon cuz more people need to know about this con.
CPFC is in Wichita, KS so it's only a 5.5 hour drive from Dallas. Nice thing about that is I only need to take one day off work.
The GOH this year was Laura Garabedian. She's a friend and an artist we've worked with so it was nice to see her being honoured.
Thursday:
I got to work early then hit the road. We'd packed the car the night before so I left direct from the train station. The drive was good. Uneventful and with no major slowdowns. I started the audiobook of John Scalzi's new book, Lock In, on the way. It's a 10 hour audio so I finished it on the way back, good book btw.
I arrived around 10:30pm and pretty much got myself settled in and went right to bed.
Friday:
Got up and met Rahata for breakfast. We enjoyed the free breakfast buffet. This is part of how amazing this hotel is. A full hot breakfast buffet is completely free. They also do free dinner from 5:30 to 7pm along with three free drinks.
After breakfast Rahata helped me out big time since my back wasn't doing so well. We got my stock from the car and got all set up in the dealers room.
I had two tables and the were stuffed with different titles. It's a small con, but we do alright there for it being about 90 people each year. It means we have to pack a small quantity of a large range of titles though, so displaying them all on two tables is a challenge.
The highlight of Friday was when the charity showed up. They had an area of their own in the dealers room and they brought various animals.
OMG they brought a honey badger!
There's an animal I never thought I'd see in person. I even got to pet her! Their fur is really rough, even the underbelly, but the pads of their feet are super soft. Apparently they sense a lot with their feet.
They're not native to this continent, but the charity has a family of them including a breeding pair. This is for conservation as they are very endangered.
This one's name was Bonnie. Her brother wasn't there, but his name is Clyde. :-P Perfect for honey badgers.
I thought it was pretty cool that Laura and Vantid said down with their sketchbooks to do some live animal sketching. I think Laura took a few hundred reference pictures.
Rest of the day I worked my table. I closed about an hour early because it was pretty quiet and then I took a nap which turned out a lot longer than I expected. I got up around 9 and went to have a late dinner with Rahata at Avi, the hotel restaurant.
I had the pork chops. Definitely recommended. Just amazing. Avi is one of the big reasons I love this hotel.
I'd put my Kindle in my pocket so after dinner I relaxed in the hotel lobby for a couple of hours to read.
The lobby is huge and would be well suited for lobbycon. This con really needs to grow to take advantage of the space they're in. The lobby is big and sprawling, full of little clusters of chairs and ottomans. Perfect for a relaxing read or to chat with friends.
Saturday:
Typical for most cons I go to, I ate breakfast and worked the table.
Highlights of Saturday include the charity bringing back their adorale armadillo and hedgehog who were there last year and also another newcomer, a binturang. Which is smething I hadn't seen before, but they're super fluffy and have long, floof tails.
I also did a publisher Q&A on Saturday. It was sparsely attended, but given the size of the con I expected that. Much thanks to those who did show up and help keep the conversation going. Warrndog in particular was a good discussion started. He's the writing track lead at Oklacon and someone I'd like to chat to more about writing.
Dinner on Saturday was lamb if I recall correctly.
Sunday:
This was a short day. The charity auction started at 2pm and closing ceremonies was around 4pm. Since it was slow and with those two events I didn't expect it to get busier, I closed up shop at 2. The official close time of the den was 5pm, but I wanted to be on the road so I wouldn't be home too late. I had to work on Monday.
Kyo was my roommate for the weekend and he helped me out immensely with packing up the table and getting all the stock back into the car.
I fueled up, hit the road and finished my book.
Summary:
As with last year, CPFC was a very relaxed weekend in an awesome hotel.
My main criticism of CPFC is the same as last year: marketing!
CPFC is basically in the middle of the country. It's 5 to 10 hours from a wide range of possible attendees by car, not to mention all the Kansas locals. It has the potential to grow a lot, but the problem is very few people know about it.
I wrote this so I could talk about my weekend and hopefully let some folks know about this great little con who didn't know before.
They also need a lot of help. They have a very small staff who are all doing multiple jobs. So if you're looking to staff or volunteer at a con, consider helping out this one. It's a young, small con with great potential.
Here's some places to contact them:

Married!
Posted 11 years agoFigured I'd post a personal life update here.
Last Sunday (8/31/2014),
teiran and I got married!
We had proposed to each other last June after the Supreme Court struck down the Defense of Marriage Act. Then early last month we flew out to California to have the legal ceremony done and to get our marriage license. This weekend was the big wedding with family and friends here in Texas.
Texas doesn't recognize same-sex marriage yet, but since there's no state income tax and our marriage is recognized on the Federal level then it is legal for income tax purposes. I'm confident that within five years, if not two or three, this state will be forced to recognize our marriage too.
Anyway, after being a couple for 13 years we're finally married. It doesn't change much in our daily lives since we've been living together for nearly a decade already, but it still meant a lot to have the ceremony, to officially proclaim our love with all the people close to us celebrating with us.
The weekend was a mad whirlwind due to bachelor parties, out of town guests, the ceremony and the after party. It was fun and overwhelming in a good way, but also pretty exhausting.
I'm really happy and I feel so incredibly fortunate to have Teiran and so many awesome people in my life.
Also, I want to thank
kyell for writing and officiating both ceremonies. He did a beautiful, amazing job. And
osfer, for being our wedding photographer all weekend. I can't wait to see the finished product, but the pics I've seen so far look amazing!
In other news, the cons I'm going to the rest of the year are Rainfurrest and Central Plains FurCon.
Now back to publishing and shipping books!

Can I buy you a drink? Maybe, I don't drink much
Can I buy you a meal? Maybe, I dunno
Do you go to parties? A little bit, I tend not to stay too late
Do you fursuit/costume? Nope

Do you go to parties? A little bit, I tend not to stay too late
Do you fursuit/costume? Nope
What is the best way to reach you? Either at my table or tweet at me, FuzzWolf2000
Anything else? I might attend a couple of the publishing/writing panels if I have time. I anticipate spending most of my time at the FurPlanet table though.
BLFC 2014!
Posted 11 years agoI'm pretty excited! I'm going to a con I've never been to before and I'm going to a con as an attendee, no dealing. I'm not gonna know what to do with myself.
I'm planning to do a lot of chatting and hanging out, catch up with some friends, maybe do some reading and see some panels, etc.
If you see me there, say hi. For once I won't be rushing to set up a table.
What days will you be there? Arriving Thursday, leaving Monday.
Who will you hang out with during the convention? I'm gonna track down the 10ish friends who told me they'd be there and I'm gonna have dinners with Killy and Idess sometime.
Where will you be staying? Con hotel, I got an upper floor room which is supposed to have a nice view. Can't wait to see it.
Are there any panels you might be attending? I don't know. I'm gonna check out the schedule again and I may host a panel if there's still space on the schedule.
Where can I find you? I don't know! This is amazing and will be the first con in years where I won't be attending as a dealer. I could be anywhere!
What is your gender? Murr. I mean, male.
How old are you? 38
Can I talk to you? Sure!
Can I buy you a drink? Well, maybe just the one. I don't drink much.
What's your poison? Spirits like Hypnotiq, drambuie, Bailey's, Raspberry di Amore
Can I hug you? If you're not creepy or smelly
How tall are you? Kinda short, 5' 7"
Are you nice? Or do you think so (no personal references needed)? I like to think I am, I try my best.
Are you friendly? See above
Do you like parties? Meh. I'm not a party guy really. I prefer smaller gatherings where I can chat to friends and still hear myself think.
Can I give you a gift? If you want to.
If I see you, how should I get your attention? Just say "Hi Fuzz" or something.

Texas Furry Fiesta 2014
Posted 11 years agoI forgot to make a post about this till now, but I'll be at TFF and as usual will be at the FurPlanet table in the dealers room. We're right next to Blotch and Keovi. We also have a special book signing table where we'll be hosting
kyell, Phil Geusz and maybe others signing their books.
I'll be introducing a panel tonight which is a reading and Q&A for Kyell's new book, The Mysterious Affair of Giles. This book is a novella in an Agatha Christie mystery style with a female protagonist and cute artwork by Caribou.
I'll also be on a panel about publishing with Alflor. I think that's on Saturday.
And Teiran and I will end up hosting a couple of room parties since we rented a suite on the party floor, so yay. Follow my Twitter FuzzWolf2000 to keep up to date with me over the weekend. I'll tweet party info and such.
