Sketchbook slots open!
Posted 7 years agoAll right! Time for another tight five! First come, first serve!
Sketchbook style commissions are $25 for single character, and $35 for two character. +$10 for close up illustration.
A new option this time around! I'm adding toned tanned as an option, at $35 for single character, and $45 for two character. +$15 for close up illustration.
I'll be handling these like con sketches. I'll need character descriptions (or ref sheets!), and idea for the scene and/or pose. It's first draft, so be sure to be specific! (I use email or telegram for commission work)

The day the music died
Posted 7 years agoLast week,
vickywyman was taken from us by that demon, cancer. From
defenbaugh's journal:
This was not a case of if she had gone in a day earlier, or a week earlier or possibly even a year earlier that she would have been fine. Upon arriving at the hospital it was discovered she had aggressively invasive colon/intestinal cancer. She signed a DNR and went into surgery and came out with the notice that the only thing keeping her alive was the fluids they were pushing into her (she was consciously aware) and made the choice to be let go. I was told by her friend who was present through the process that she went peacefully and without pain. Myself and Marianne are looking to hold a party in her honor at next years Anthrocon and would like to make an update to her Wiki Entry with lists of her published works and any photographs we can attain.
To our fandom, she was an integral founder, and an absolute influence on me. To everyone that has thanked me for getting them into the fandom, they can thank her as well.
Goodbye and thank you, Vicky. We'll catch up with you on that last train home.

180 from last year's FWA!
Posted 7 years agoLast year, i was just capable of making a few rounds of the dealer's den and artists alley before i had to call it a day.
This year, i sat behind the table in artists alley! :D Putting the work into physical therapy and switching up meds till we found a good combo really paid off. Unfortunately, my vertigo kicked in to where i only made one lap of the dealer's room, and didn't get out of my room for evening events. Another goal to work towards next year ^_^
It was fantastic finally being able to say hi to everyone :) That fired me back up and re-inspired me, so many thanks for that :)
In no particular order, i'll be posting sketches i did at the con. I think after my current round of color commissions, i'll switch to slots of fixed priced b/w sketchbook type commissions, so look for that later this year!
Take care all!

Will be at FWA! and stuffs
Posted 7 years agoYipyap y'all!
So, as stated, i'll be at FWA with mah wuffy
nesil. This year we'll have a hotel room so that we don't have to commute 30min-1h30min back and forth.
That should really help my endurance at the con. With all luck, i'll set up at the artists alley at least once; finally found a medication routine that should help get me through!
Speaking of improving meds, that's sorta what i've been up to the last year. I made a full round of every doctor type involved in my life. The two biggest changes were new glasses and a new med.
I've also worked on getting back into and staying in shape. When my labyrinthitis hit at the end of '09, I weighed 155lbs. By 2014 I was up to 210lbs. Now i'm back down to 160lbs (where it's been for a little under a year)!
The problem is the exercise i do is absolutely mentally exhausting. I can do about a third or half of what i used to before my brain just shuts down. Sometimes i make it to the bed, but often i just fall alseep on the floor and am out for a couple hours.
So, dealing with that time loss, added to the normal time loss stuff, there's not a lot of time for art, and even less for keeping up with online folk.
I'm paddling as fast as i can--i just hope everyone can understand that i'm not a hermit on purpose. ^_^
Take care, yap atcha laters! :)

From fur con to fur pile
Posted 8 years agoSo of course FWA was great. It took a minute to find the artists' alley due to extreme relocation, but it was worth it! Much bigger and sunnier this year. Just great weather. Though the I-85 snafu cost us time there, as we had to do that everyday. But once at the con, easier to relax and soak up the con vibes :)
It was great seeing the folk i managed to, and a shout out to the furs that stopped to say hi :D
After the con, well, we got another cat. My sister does rescue/foster animal work; last year she got a kitten that had had her front paw broken in a couple places by someone, and left almost dead. She got her back up to health, but no-one wants to adopt a limpy kitty :/ After almost a year of no success, and 'kitten season' upon her, i was beseech'ed to help.
Now to catch up to post-con stuff :D

'member Duckcon? 'member CFE?
Posted 8 years agoFirst off, mri looked good. I'm used to episodes where i can't see/move much, but the strength and duration of this one was pretty scarey -_-
I'm getting ready to go to FWA! (Sigh.. i used to go to two to three a year, but i'm glad that there's one so close so we can keep up with the fandom a bit again :) I'm really looking forward to seeing a lot of folk this year, and to the con in general; last year's felt seamless.
Oh yeah, duckcon! Hehe, back when furries had 'tracks' tacked onto other sci-fi/fantasy cons. After a few years duckon got a bur up its ass about furries and booted the furry dealers room. A couple years later, the con folded. Turned out furries were the majority spenders at the cons, and the regular dealers just didn't make as much and stopped coming. Or at least, that's my recollection of it. I was usually trying to find the bottom of every bottle 'o booze i could at those cons, so... ;D
I think i went to a couple CFEs, which was an attempt to launch a tentpole con on the east coast (ConFurEast). Man, that was before AC i think! I really wish i had better stored/kept track of all the con books/badges i got over the years. It's a stack and a half now, but i won't get that completionist achievement ;)
Take care, and be kind, rewind! :)

Anyone use image tags for searching?
Posted 8 years agoThe title pretty much sums it up :) I haven't gotten into adding tags yet, but if it seems popular, i'll certainly try to take some time to go add some (and of course, gotta catch up as usual :)
Also, i'm planning on being at fwa! Just re-up on some meds and i'll totter on along 8D
As for art, currently i'm finishing coloring 'gryphon dragon mounter', and then 'deer toy'. After that.. we'll see ^_^
Take care! :)
