Will open around 8pm EST for comms
Posted 4 years agoAlso, will be adjusting prices just a little, as i'm needing to re-up for supplies, and blah blah blah ^_^;;;
Opening for Commissions Next Week!
Posted 4 years agoSo I'm about done with my commission list from https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/9762289/ my hearing aids fund raiser.
Of course, due to various iRL pop-ups, I'm needing to put off getting to my personal projects so I can put out commission work. And since it's so close to the end of the year anyway, I figure, what the heck, might as well round out the year doing comms anyhow :D
On the 1st of November I'll be opening commissions for awhile; I'll try to take comms from furs that haven't gotten any from me before first, but i will also prioritize some long term patrons as well :)
A refresher on prices before anyone asks:
Toned tanned commissions are:
$35 for single character.
$45 for two character, $55 for three, $65 for four.
+$15 with close up/insert illustration.
Examples are:

Yap y'all later! :)

Now to donkey punch my brain awake
Posted 4 years agoThis past Sunday I'm back home from an exhausting week out at the folks. Good news, the extra amount of the new pain suppressant I'm taking is working really well! Bad news, it makes me oddly mushy in the head meats (I know, somehow even moreso than before :P ) I don't quite parse things going on around me as well, and am at an easier loss of words; but that constant 11 year headache is almost completely gone! You have No. Idea. What. A. Decade. Long. Headache. Is. Like.
Monday I spent doing laundry and arts. Tuesday I spent doing arts and a real eye exam for glasses (down half a diopter in the eye that's bothering me), rest of the day recovering from super dilated pupils O_O
Today I'll spend on arts and then catching up on comments. Thank you everyone to replied in advance! :) I may not get to every comment, but I appreciate every one!

What to do with foxxfire.com?
Posted 4 years agoIt is with sadness that I announce that the gallery pages of my website are now completely defunct. The scripts were dated and unsupported for many years, preventing me from updating them at all, keeping them up mostly as a legacy site. But recently it's been open to attacks and unable to keep up, so the browsing function of the gallery pages have been taken down.
Since that was really the main purpose of the site, I need to repurpose it. Like, should it just be a redirect to my FA, IB, Rabbit Valley, and other sites? Some write ups of my OP characters? What would that page do that this page don't'ent?
Also, I don't want to keep burdening
tursi with the cost and upkeep of the domain now that he no longer has a backend to maintain, but my literacy to handle that sort of thing is grade school level at best :3 I know '00's FTP and HTML, but past that foxx brain go brrrrrr.
So, yeah. I want to keep foxxfire.com for obvious reasons, but I'm sorta aimless right now as to purpose and place for it. Open for brainstorming :)

Artists: What piece were you happy with that flopped?
Posted 4 years agoYou know what I mean. Either a piece started off having captured your imagination, or while working on it you slowly poured more and more into it. But by the end, you were looking at it and smiling with pride. Appreciating the linework or colors, the expressions or poses.
But then you post it, and it gets...a collective yawn D:
(As opposed to some works you barely feel anything when doing, just going through the motions, and skimp on things you normally wouldn't, and it gets...favs through the roof O.O )
I'll get started with a couple:
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/31066981/
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/31246775/
(These, and reallly my last few color comms got me to move into the sketch comms rather than the color, as the turn around was /much/ quicker, and the major factor just seems to be subject matter and general style ^_^ I do plan to move back into coloring at some point, but it'll be after my current batch of work, and on my own project.)
So, other furry artists, any pieces you'd like to vent about? I'd really love to hear some commiseration, as I'm about to hit another year older this Monday, and am feeling salty about things in general ^_^;;

Corneal Erosion
Posted 4 years agoMy eye hurts :( Feels like it's been cut, swollen, watering and hard to see out of.
So basically this has been going on for half a year, and i haven't connected the dots until today, when i woke up, and after a few minutes my left eye started hurting like hell and watering non-stop. I ended up taping it closed with a bandage to ease it as best i could; as fate would have it, we had made an appointment at an eye doc today for new glasses.
I explained to him what had been going on, how around Jan i had taken a nap at my folks place, and woken up with a sore and watering left eye, and by that night had to have a tissue on the pillow for how much it watering. Had chalked it up to allergies at the time, and it got better after a couple days. But, every few weeks, that would happen again, always with the same eye. The doc seemed pretty sure he knew what it was, and when he looked at the eye, he absolutely knew.
http://www.eyesite.org/cornea-erosions/
There were several dry spots in the cornea, he said. So, it's not great.
Right now, we're getting antibiotic eye drops to work on healing the current tearing of the eye surface. Once that's done, we'll move to preventative treatments, such as gel drops at night.
https://www.aao.org/eye-health/dise.....rneal-abrasion
It's treatable, but not curable, outside of surgery.
....and all i wanted today was a new pair of glasses ;_;
Gawd, how many chronic illnesses until mandatory euthanasia kicks in?

Summer Doldrums
Posted 4 years agoThe art has been frustratingly difficult to produce lately. There's some linework done on the next piece, and i'm about ready to try to do the major re-editing and such, but it's like trying to squeeze a tube of dried concrete. :P
I've tried to turn the down time into self care--cleaning and clearing piled up and cluttered closets and shelves, getting my room in order from the general disarray it had fallen into the past few weeks. And then the same for the living room ^_^;;
So, i'm still around, still working on getting art done, so please hang tight! :)
Stay safe and be well!

Making my way down the list!
Posted 4 years agohttps://www.furaffinity.net/journal/9762289/
Gonna get there eventually! ^_^ RL idled until Monday, but then should have several straight weeks of full throttle furry mayhem :D
Afterwards, I really want to get back to personal projects of mine that have been on the back burner for a couple years now. A lot of characters and world building I want to finally get down on paper.
I may open a few slots here and there every few months like I used to, but we'll have to see.
Be safe out there!

Week long headcold and two day migraine
Posted 4 years ago*weak arrrggghhhhh*
So i started to get a tickle in my throat like, tuesday, wednesday, last week?
(My wuff had a pretty bad head cold at the beginning of the week, and even got a quick covid test on monday and wed, with a pcr test as well on wed--all negative. So, just that bad end of spring cold where pollen/weather/fuck-you combines in a perfect storm.)
Then on thursday i went and got my second covid vax shot. Friday i was still ok, arm just hurt. Saturday the cold really started to kick in; stuffy runny nose, miserable feeling. Sunday the same, slept most of the day with tissues on the pillow to sop up all the snot and drool (gross!!). Just awful.
Monday my cold had dried up by half, but my head now hurt like hell; one of my typical migraines was setting in and i was out of meds to treat it. I tried some non-rx combos but they didn't do much, so i tried to just not move most of the day.
Last night I started adding extra rx meds to the mix, and more this morning, and this afternoon. I'm /finally/ starting to feel better, and not like I want someone to just lop my head off.
It's been so long since I had a cold proper i forgot how miserable they are, especially one that intense; and with a migraine cherry on top, fuck.
Anyhow, just wanted to explain this past lost week, and that this week is probably a lost cause for arts as well as i recover. -_-
Take care, yap y'all later!

Back home again!
Posted 4 years agoWell, after cleaning off furniture, walls and floors, throwing out various and sunder water logged and damaged things, removing ruined drop ceiling tiles and replacing them, and cutting out mold damaged carpet (and probably more things i'm too tired to remember right now) i got things under control at the folks.
I'm probably going to sleep for a day or two while my brain unscrambles itself from the forced overtime (and extra medication to force it to cope with it), and hopefully get back into the swing of things soon ^_^

Been busy and tired as all fuck
Posted 4 years agoBut been all right!
The second tune up on the hearing aids went well. They had been at like 80% threshold or some such for the adjustment period; they're now at threshold+, so I can actually pick up a little extra ^_^ Of course, mental wear and tear for adjustment, yadda yadda...
For the last week, been busy prepping to have a furiend that I've known since 1999 to move in for awhile. He was feeling deadended where he was, and wanted a fresh start in a more metro area. Plus, we were both wanting bunker buddies in the case new variants of the current virus added another unscheduled year of cabin fever X-D He got moved in ok Saturday, and has been busy with all the change of blah blah blah one goes through.
Oven broke early this weekend, so been cooking with the range and microwave. Trying to do for three without, man, it's easy to forget how often one just tosses whatever into the oven ^_^ Will be putting in a order for a new one today, then the wait begins for the whole delivery/ installation/removal business.
I feel like i want to nap for a few days. But not only is there house stuff that needs doing, there's the next pic in the queue i gots to do ^_^;;;
Take care of yourselves! We have to make it to see next years fur cons!!

All right, settling into these:)
Posted 4 years agoI really cannot stress how addled I was yesterday ^_^
I'm settling into the last bump up of a new pain med, which gives a neat brain fuzz till it sets in (but my decade-long headache is so much less now, it's great!)
I had been packing to travel the previous day, along with cleaning and sorting the house for various things. Then trying to sleep in anticipation.
Then getting the hearing aids, which was a lot of new stimulation, which threw me off balance and addled my brain even more. Then a 90 minute car ride. The subconscious wear through the day really did a number on me.
But I'm doing better now, and starting to get a handle on these things. It's really like being laid up in bed for a few weeks, and then trying to jump up and run a mile. The brain hasn't been exposed to a lot of this for a long time, and has to get worked back into it.
Thank you all again. This will do a lot for me going forward ^_^

Well, this is interesting
Posted 4 years agoSo, the good ear hearing aid is working as hoped. Sounds are sharper and richer across the spectrum, taking some getting used to hearing things I haven't in awhile!
The left ear isnt working out as well as I had hoped
Vast difference from what I heard in the audio booth. I'm going back in next week for a regularly scheduled tune up anyhow, so hopefully then and over then next month we can see about what can be done about dialing it in.
Still, so much better, and once I'm much less tired and these get broken in more I'll be much more bubbly about them ^_^
PS out for the week helping out the fam; back next week on the arts!

A huge thanks to my sponsors--we did it!!
Posted 4 years agoI am agape. Thanks to everyone who commissioned me, and especially to everyone who donated to me, I raised over four times what i was hoping to get. With the help of my family on top of this, I'm actually going to be able to walk in and walk out with my hearing aids this coming Monday.
Eleven years ago I was devastated by the sudden total loss of hearing in my left ear (along with the avalanche of other symptoms). And then in November last year I suddenly experienced more permanent hearing loss in my right ear (on top of the slow decline this condition gave). It's really hard to describe the hopelessness I was feeling.
Of course, I'll never hear from my left ear perfectly, but at least it will be something (and i won't have to keep turning my head back and forth like some weird bird during conversations trying to hear everyone ^_^ ). And my right ear will again get the fuller range of sounds I've been missing.
So, thanks again to those who have helped make this happen. It's meant the world to me <3

Excellent news on the hearing aids!
Posted 4 years agoSo we went to get a second opinion today (when you're talking used car money, you have to shop around).
Well, the audiologist was able to tune in and get sound into my left ear. The ear everyone had been telling me was dead for eleven years. I suppose the audio chart for the ear was so low everyone else just shrugged, but he knew how to tune the dials to get the frequencies to my brain.
It was weird. The brain literally forgets how to hear sound over time when it doesn't receive it, so to suddenly be getting it, and be having a conversation with it--it was like the ear/brain equivalent of walking on a leg that's fallen asleep for a long time.
Thanks to you all, we were able to put money down to get an ear fitting on the spot. Since both will be real hearing aids (instead of one being basically a walkie-talkie), it will be a bit more expensive, but with the help you crazy creatures have given me, it looks like we'll be able to pull it off :D
I'm so excited. Not only will i get back hearing i've lost, i'll get real hearing back on my left side. Whoooo! :D

List!
Posted 4 years ago18) Koda
22) Cxulubcah
The first 5 were from the previous commission queue, the remainder from my fundraiser.
I'm probably going to be lazy and just title these after the slot numbers from here out ;)
Will be making a list, and another thanks!
Posted 4 years agoSo, later today or tomorrow I will be making a list of the furs I owe commissions to, in the order they will be fulfilled.
One of the reasons I made the commissions private notes was in case anyone wanted their commissions to be anonymous. If that's the case, please let me know, and i'll simply put 'anon' in place of your slot :)
My apologies to
zephyrnok, where in a previous journal i told him i wouldn't make a fraction of what i needed. Thanks to generous furs with their Shinies, and furs willing to be patient for pics, i got so much further towards what we need than i ever dreamed of getting. I just can't see myself as others do, so i'm just blown away by the support i'm getting in my time of need ^_^
Much love to you all!

Thank you, you filthy animals! :D
Posted 4 years agoI was absolutely overwhelmed by the support of the furs who offered it. I got so much closer to the goal of getting my hearing aids than I ever dreamed of.
It really hadn't struck me how much hearing i had lost over my two sudden onset losses over the decade. Walking around with the hearing aids during the testing was like, "Is that ghosts?!"
So, I am giddy looking forward to getting them. Thank you again to my supporters, it's meant the world to me :)

Commissions for hearing aids [CLOSED]
Posted 4 years agoThank you so much for the support; I've been really touched by how much this community has been willing to help me out when I've need it ;^_^;
I'll be opening commissions for awhile today as fundraising for hearing aids that I need.
If you would like to support me in helping get them, but can't get or want a full commission right now, please consider a few dollars in shinies. Every bit helps :)
Note me if you want a commission.
I will reply with various commission info, such as payment methods and contact information.
Sketchbook style commissions are:
$25 for single character.
$35 for two character, $45 for three characters, and $55 for four characters
+$10 with close up/insert illustration.
Examples are:
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/27942923/
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/33931868/
Toned tanned commissions are:
$35 for single character.
$45 for two character, $55 for three, $65 for four.
+$15 with close up/insert illustration.
Examples are:
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/33907446/
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/36340478/
I'll be handling these like con sketches. I'll need character descriptions (or ref sheets!), and idea for the scene and/or pose.
It's first draft, so be sure to be specific! (I use email or telegram for commission work)
All my characters are available for use! And I have nothing against fan art :)
Things I don't do: pain/suffering, heavy bdsm, scat... you can extrapolate from that :) But don't be afraid to ask!!

Fundraising for hearing aids
Posted 4 years agoSo I was able to get a test run of hearing aids and holy crap! It was hard not to get emotional with what a difference they made; i had no idea how much i had been missing out on. Not only that, but these were a cross over type--that is, the one in my deaf ear transmitted the sound to my functional ear, so that i could hear from that side again as well (no weird tilting of my head this way and that while talking to people).
When the hearing aids were taken off, everything was muffled and muted in comparison.
The problem is, the ones that I need cost multiple $$$$
So, this Sunday I'll be opening for commissions through private notes. Prices will be posted in the journal (and any included tips will reflect in the finished piece!), and any shinies will be graciously accepted ^_^
Thank you for your help in advance :)
