No table at FWA
Posted a year agoSo this year i won't be trying to get a table at the artist's alley at FWA. It's too much of a hassle, and there are people i want to visit with this year. Also, i'd like to spend a con just hanging out ^_^

Clear of the covid!

Posted a year agoTested positive just now. Been feeling run down, coughing and sneezing, but testing negative until now. Bleh.
Of course, what with the hubby having it last week, i suppose it was only a matter of time till i caught it ^_^
Ah well, we made a good run without getting it, and it could be worse (knocks on wood).

Once your place is secured, I'll note you back with relevant contact info and how I handle working with you on the piece :)
Toned tanned pieces are done on paper that is, as the name says, toned to a tanned color. I currently use greyscale color pencils and mechanical black lead pencil, along with blue lead and colored pencils, white color pencils and gel pens and paint, and whatever else around that catches my eye at the time.
Toned tanned commissions are:
$45 for single character.
$55 for two character, $65 for three
+$20 with close up/insert illustration.
Shipping is available after the piece is done!
It is a separate charge, billed after the shipment is made; is it not a flat rate, as I don't know how much it will cost to ship, and I don't want to overcharge for it. The cost of shipping is the shipping itself, plus $4 US for shipping materials and handling.

Posted 2 years agoSo we adopted two kittens into our house. They're rescues our sister was fostering, one orange, one black with some white markings. They're four months old and precious as hell.
They're already wandering the house and exploring, settling in nicely, though still puffing up when encountering our other two cats (of course, that will just take time). We're really happy to have them ^_^

He was the last of our OG kitties; we're down to 2 now. It's feeling pretty empty around here. I dunno how one of the cats is going to take it, he absolutely loved Dib, and was always snuggling up to him.
Sigh. Well, he lived a good life, and was a good kitty. It still fucking sucks tho.

FoxxFire FlyTrap wood burning Auction

Aside from being an example of a two tone varnish (natural and gun stock), I'm putting this one-off wood burning of my character, FoxxFire FlyTrap, in the piece Blue Collar Worker, up for auction. It's on an 8"x10" basswood board, as mentioned varnished in two tones, and waxed.
(I will admit, half the reason i'm doing this is because my birthday is coming up in a couple weeks, and i'd like to spend money on something besides vet bills for the cats for once this year ^_^;; )

Posted 2 years agoWe just found out that our oldest, Dib, has a type of lung cancer. Due to his age and extremely slight frame, there's not much we can do for treatment. Aside from the occasional coughing fit, he gets around all right. So, we're going to let him have a last few good months, then treat for any pain, and then...say goodbye.
Dib's been my buddy for 16 years now. He's that friendly orange cat that says hello to everyone, the ambassador to the house, the shoulder kitty, the lapcat. He's been the big brother to every other cat that we've brought in, the one showing them the ropes, bringing them in line, and giving them comfort. I just can't imagine the house without him.
And i'm...i'm just not doing ok with all this. These cats have been my companions as i've been shut in with my disability these past 13 years, and losing them in such rapid succession in these devastating ways, i just.. My art's dried up. I don't really do anything for fun, laughing is a foreign concept to me. And since i'm not done w current art, i can't put up new art comms to help w new vet bills, which we're burning plastic for, so i feel extra useless.
So yeah, that's how i'm doing here.
Y'all take care of yourselves.

I'll handle these as full comms, with sketches, linework, color, etc, being sent back and forth for confirmation for each stage with the clients involved before heading to the next.
Detail laddering will run something like this, depending on bidding:
B/W - Flat color - Cell Shading - Background w/ Cell Shading - Texturing - Close-up Insert - I put the heels to it
The high bidder gets to pick the background. Tie, everyone picks a number, and i roll a die; closest w/o going over wins.
Your OC's, any of my OC's, and any company's OC's are fair game.
Bidding ends Saturday 22nd 7pm EST.

Posted 2 years agoWe're back from the vet's. Gravy's condition had gone down to where we finally had to put him down to sleep. It...doesn't get any easier.
We've lost half our pride in a year. In fact, it's almost to the day that Tak, Gravy's older brother, died, before FWA, a year ago. A four months ago that we lost Gaz.
It's one thing to have, like, one pet emergency/death per year. But three...that puts an emotional and financial toll that's, just, erf. Hard to get out from under.
The emotional one, we'll have to handle. But if anyone would care to help us with the financial, I've put up a four character YCH auction. Please check it out if you can, and if not, thanks for your well wishes instead.

We've been giving him IV fluids every three days, and in the meanwhile, putting a little chicken broth in a bowl of water to get him to drink in the interim. Kidney friendly food of course.
