Wow, it's been a while since consistent uploads! I'm currently in the Zone for Fossil Fighters, so I'm hoping I can keep riding this wave for a while.

As said in a previous journal, in the past I only ever finished UP TO Stego, and only uploaded Brachio publicly. We are officially past the upload milestone, and as soon as I finish and post Stego it will be the farthest I've ever gotten in the project!

Thank you all for sticking around on this journey with me! It's been fun to share art from a series that means so much to me, even years later.

Yahoooo, guys!
We're almost a quarter of the way through with the original DS game Fossilary!

At this point, we're ALMOST passed where I first went with the project. Originally I only uploaded up to Zino on FA... but I also posted a Brachio on dA. In addition, I made finished artwork for ALL of the sauropods in the first game (discounting DLC/bonus), but just never posted them anywhere.

It's super exciting to have made so much progress on this project again! Here's to beating the first attempt's milestone, and getting every Vivosaur artwork in my style! :D

While this project is still undergoing progress, I've also started doing some light work on the side regarding my own characters. Specifically, my Fossil Fighters-inspired characters.

Should I upload artwork I make of these characters to this account, or should it only be focused on the project (or wait to post them until the project is finished)? Let me know what you think!

FOSSIL FIGHTERS
Fossil Fighters is a relatively unknown game made for the Nintendo DS. It is aimed primarily at a younger audience, and is a Pokemon-style game: you dig up fossils, revive the Vivosaur inside, and fight other Fossil Fighters to become the best fighter on the island! It has two sequels, Fossil Fighters: Champions, which is also for the DS but has some new features (including the ability to play as a girl), and Fossil Fighters: Frontier, which updates a lot of designs while cutting out some old faces.

This project consists of me drawing all of the Vivosaurs obtainable in the game. Currently, there are 149 Vivosaurs obtained by normal means (100 original and 49 added on in Champions), 30 unlockables (including the Dinaurians*), and 20 Super Evolvers. This brings the total number of single-character drawings in this project up to 199. This does not currently reflect the number of FF:F Vivosaurs, which gain new palettes and appearances in almost all cases.

The characters will be drawn as accurately as possible. I will do my best to match how the real prehistoric animal looked, as well as balancing how they look in the game. In the case of dinosaurs that have an unknown real-life appearance (due to incomplete specimens or other reasons) I will do my best to make the animal in the game look semi-realistic.

Unofficial Vivosaurs
Obviously, not every single dinosaur or extinct specie could be in the games. Unfortunately, this means some awesome animals get skipped out of the game! To remedy this, I've started making "unofficial" fan Vivosaurs for dinosaurs or prehistoric animals that aren't already in the game.

These will be uploaded in the order that I make them, and won't be sorted into specific groups like the game has them (for example, I might draw a theropod dinosaur one day and a sauropod the next). I will be taking requests and suggestions OCCASIONALLY on these, since there are many cool creatures I might miss out on!

QUESTIONS

What is the purpose of this project?
Well, for fun! Even with a busy schedule, I wanted to have something definite to do in my free time. Plus, all of the games are great, and it would be fun to either encourage people to play them or meet others who do!

What is a Vivosaur?
Vivosaurs are the creatures used in both Fossil Fighters games. Generally it's a dinosaur, but other prehistoric animals have been revived as well (including mammals and prehistoric reptiles). "Vivosaur" refers to the fact that they have been revived, and is a blanket term for all of the prehistoric creatures because they have all gained different appearances and new powers due to the rocks they were fossilized in - thus making none of them dinosaurs, technically. Don't like that idea? I did not come up with it. :)

Will you take requests so that [insert character here] can be bumped up? It's my favorite character and I want to see it!
Unfortunately, I am doing the project in numerical order. If you are referring to a Vivosaur, I am going in order from beginning to end of the Fossilary.
