Ready, set, go! Get up there and register!
If you are interested in a Dealer's Den table, don't fret! Simply check the box stating that you're interested, and you should receive an e-mail about your table within a week or two.
If you volunteered last year and are owed free entry this year, please make sure that two of these three are the same as last year: first name, last name, badge name, and do not 'click here to go to the payment page'. =3 Save for a select few (three, in fact), we have all of your information and can very whether or not you've earned free registration for this year. Your free reg can, of course, be applied towards any form of upgrade; however, at the moment, the only place you can upgrade your membership is at the door.
If you're not sure whether or not you have earned free registration for this year, please contact Spectrum directly, at twisted.spectrum(at)gmail(dot)com.
If you have any questions, feel free to note us, or e-mail us directly! All necessary contact information can be found on the website, rcfm.net.

2 Commission Slots OPEN.
Posted 13 years agoBurning through the list of commissions I've got with some good speed, and figured I'd take two more while I'm in the forward momentum zone. So you want a commission? Read on.
TWO slots are open. Slots start at 70 for single char with ink, color, and basic BG. Note me if interested.
Before submitting an idea for a commission, please understand that I reserve the right to decline any idea that may go against my personal restrictions (ex - the usual suspects, toilet stuff, underage, etc.). I also reserve the right to decline any commisioners ideas that I find to be of questionable content. By questionable content I refer to things that are against my accepts list of themes to draw, ideas that I feel uncomfortable with, that go against personalities of the characters involved [In case of ideas using characters that belong to myself or other people], or things that I feel I am not the one best suited to handling, at this time if ever.
*NOTE* Please provide a description in your note for a proper price quote, and be able to send payment today.
One more time, note if interested!

Conventions, Conventions, Conventions.
Posted 13 years agoGood morning, FA.
Amidst working on new pieces and commissions, I figured it's time for an update.
READ CAREFULLY, because this is a multi-topic post, and I know how some of y'all can rush and miss things. <3
Boston St. Patrick's Day 2012
I'm sitting it out this year, sadly. Last year's event was sooo awesome, but I can't afford the trip this time; I honestly need to stay here and make income. Nevertheless, there'll be other events, so it's all good!
~~~
ROCKET CITY FUR MEET 2012
As you know, I'm headed to Huntsville, Alabama to RCFM during Memorial Day Weekend in May 2012! Right now we're all waiting on the website to have the Pre-Registration area implemented, so that all those interested can go sign up to attend!  IMPORTANT: When that's finally up, I'm gonna make another follow-up journal regarding that, so stay tuned if you want to journey to RCFM and party with me on my first time doing GoH!
~~~
ANTHROCON 2012
I'M GOING! I was graciously offered a spot to room and set up my clean work designation for tattooing, so if you want to set up an appointment, now is the time to contact me. Samples of my work can be seen at the aforementioned link, or by simply using the search function here in FA for "Fossil Tattoo". Email me at Fossil -at- FossilTattoo -dot- com and put Tattoo Concept in the header, and put down a partial payment on the total price of your tattoo to reserve your spot now, because they WILL go very fast.
Alternatively, I'll probably also be floating around to do sketchbooks or whatever as well, so if you see me, stop me.
~~~
FURTHER CONFUSION 2013
This is a convention I've never been to, ever. I've never even been to California, for that matter. But I decided I'm gonna start planning EARLY, in an attempt to attend Further Confusion in 2013. It'd be a completely new place for me, a completely new audience, and from what I hear, they want ink. Bad. So for all the California people, all the readers who know they'll be at FC... consider this an open query. Who wants artwork/tattoo work from me? I'm trying to see if there's actually enough interest, if there's enough people who want something done, and can put down a 25% deposit of whatever their price is... it'd fund my way there. A cross-country flight from NY to California isn't easy. Hell, I couldn't even do it either of the two times California WANTED me there, for Califur. But I'm making a preemptive strike this time, and planning way in advance. You want me at FC? Help me help you! The earlier you plan, the more likely it is I'll make it there.
~~~
If this is relevant to anyone you know, do please spread word of this journal around. Now, back to the drawing board for me. More to come.

2012.
Posted 14 years agoIt's the new year, and thusly, I'm changing things up some.
I'm moving pretty fast through my current commission list, and because of this:
5 SLOTS FOR COMMISSIONS OPENING NOW. These 5 are the last commission I take before I complete the revisions on my prices. If interested, note me.
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
I've got a LOT of stuff to do for May; RCFM is go, as soon as the site's preregistration is done (I'm working on that, too.) Not to mention the artwork, site graphics, and t-shirts and stuff I have to design for that. Sooner than May, however, is March, and I'm gonna be once again attending the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Boston in full GB regalia with my team.

JurassicBeauties.com is getting a little bit of spring cleaning soon, as well. I wanna get 2012 off to a positive start with a good momentum; This is MY YEAR.
Stay tuned, I might stream later!

Happy Holidays To You.
Posted 14 years agoHoping you guys and gals out there had a good one.
I've been pretty much offline for the past week or so, mostly just to be cozy, enjoy the season, and work on art for folks. Right now I've got a little list of some of the peeps I have stuff owed to:
 dorallizard - animating

 cheska - bike pinup, conceptualizing

I'm seeing what I can get done in the next week or so, these last days of 2011. I also still have a lot of stuff to mail out, so if you're expecting a package, I know who you are, and I'm on top of it.

Comparison Meme, Photo ID.
Posted 14 years agoSo I'm not doing the Comparison Meme:
http://dj88.deviantart.com/art/Comp.....LANK-270568511
But I did finally make a custom Profile ID, which can kind of suffice for the whole "comparison" thing, I suppose.
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6927224/
No, I didn't get in a fight. I'm fine. This is photoedited, and I THOUGHT I was doing a rush job, but apparently it's believable! Thanks for the notes and such, but I'm just fine. :)
More to come.

WHAT WAS THAT?
Posted 14 years agoI just saw some crazy shit here on FA. It was there and now it's gone. At the top of the page, there was this really cool, albeit retro, image. It was a photo from what looked like the early 70's, or maybe even earlier! There were a pair of young teens, or college students. The female was holding a tape recorder and some computer books, and the male was holding a big, clunky word processor. It was magnificent. I love retro-vintage stuff like this.
Did anyone else see that?
Edit - it's still online. http://d.facdn.net/art/violet8/1321.....ter_era011.jpg

All Aboard: FurFright Tattoo. FINAL DAYS.
Posted 14 years agoIt's September! FurFright comes!
Time to place down payments on your tattoos and secure your appointments! Funds will be going towards tattoo medical supplies and ink (particularly as some of you mentioned wanting some fluorescent colors I need to acquire)
 Razorwulff - Jolly Roger - designing
 Razorwulff - Jolly Roger - designing
 Brombear - pre-designed
 Brombear - pre-designed
 WolfMoon2002 - Octopus and Key - refining design
 WolfMoon2002 - Octopus and Key - refining design
You guys have been in touch regarding tattoo designs for this con, and I'll be shooting designs back your way shortly, if need be. Do keep in mind that you need to contact me and put at least 25% down on your price quote to secure your appointment date and time. Also we have to work out where you're gonna be, 'cause at this con I'm gonna be a nomad. Travelling tattooist. I'm gonna come to YOU.
Everyone else who wanted ink, these are the last 40 or so days before the convention! Hit me up, let me know what you want, and let's get the ball rolling. I DON'T LIKE TO DO WALKUPS, I WOULD RATHER HAVE THE DESIGN LAID OUT BEFOREHAND. THAT'S WHAT THIS JOURNAL'S HERE FOR.
To reiterate, I won't be in one place at the con, I'll actually be coming to YOU, so we really have to coordinate this. Contact me via note with "FurFright Tattoo" as the subject.
More to come!

Today's Woot.com Shirt.
Posted 14 years agoSo this morning, I got two shouts, a note, and an email pointing me to this:

DO WANT.

In other news, the next journal (which will probably come tomorrow) will be all about the final month before FurFright and tattoo appointments/designs. Stick around!

I still got power. Got woken up a few times last night by wind picking up, or falling branches/trees, but as of noon, everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine.
We're all fine here now, thank you. Er... How are you?

Posted 14 years agoI love you.
You were first and foremost, FUNNY, skilled, sarcastic and witty, and above all, you had Drive. Output. Goals. I always admired you for that. I hoped that I'd see you again someplace else than a hospital. I wanted to have you over again, and we could sit and chill and doodle, which we never did enough of. I was really looking forward to seeing you fill up that sketchbook, but now the sky's your sketchbook.
I miss you already.
I love you, Ben.

"But Is It Art?"
Posted 14 years ago"Social Commentary through Furry Porn."
Some think it's a good idea, others think I'm a fag for even attempting it. Me, I'm just loving reading the various thoughts it sparked. I like thought.
I guess that I should preface this by saying that I have no plans to give my characters enormous, overcomplicated backstories. HOWEVER, I do plan on giving them a lot more depth than they currently have. Some of you may already know a bit of it. Now, on to business.
This journal entry stems from my latest FA submission, "Get On With It", seen here:
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6285177
and the following is comprised mostly from responses to victoriaviper and
 victoriaviper and  Harashaw.
 Harashaw.
"...I really intended solely to take what'd been done (to death), not just by me, but by a large number of those who submit works of similar content, and raise an awareness. Of what, exactly, I am not sure anymore."
"This particular image was sort of a way for me to hold up a mirror to the viewer... to see if a user could, quite literally, "look past" what's there, into the distance... to see if there's anything else to take in, beside the obvious stuff laid out right in front of them-- and after doing so, or not doing so, take a look at the comment they typed out as quickly as possible. I didn't intend it to get as wild in the comments as it did, but I guess that's 'art' for you; to elicit a response!"
"Initially, I drew this pic as commentary of the usual responses people give to them, ad nauseum, and as rapid-fire as possible, which is essentially why I drew it the way I did, and named it the way I did. It's kind of "I see this is what you're looking at, so go on and get it over with." Perhaps it's my own poor execution of this concept. I can't really apologize, though.
The character herself is one which I planned out to be a sort of "anti-herm"; that is to say, I made her knowledgeable of the stereotypes and stigmas of "herms in the fandom" as it were. Of course, the problem with this is, not everyone knows this about the character, because I haven't made any sort of comic or otherwise readily available medium that explains this, and all that IS available is... yep, you guessed it, the very porn I'm trying to broaden beyond."
"...It's ultimately my own fault in that regard; I have plans for her (as well as all of the Jurassic Beauties) that'll be adding much more depth and such to their personalities, so the average viewer can know things like this about them. As it stands, all I have done is draw pics of Tyni in porny situations, which leads people to believe that's all she's ever gonna be for. I can't blame people for thinking that.
As for this image itself-- I really went for the "arty" approach on this one. This piece in particular was not really supposed to be Tyni's bedroom, as much as it's supposed to be a nebulous and unformed "here", this arena, this site, this fandom, whatever. The perspective on it is that way for a reason. Same with the nudity; I drew this in 09, but I felt like I was in art college again, trying to apply stuff I learned from there. The nudity had as much of a purpose in this pic as the body language and face did. It's all part of the program! This pic has choices, more than just ass, pussy, or cock. Does the viewer think to look PAST that?
Tyni's design itself, which was established in 2005, was intended to be extreme and borderline outrageous, with the bright color scheme, piercings, etc. She's kind of a parody of the common, typical, garish furry herm in that regards. But that's where a lot of the similarities (will) end. I need to tell the story (which will be whenever I get around to telling it via comic), and that story WILL further elaborate on how she's actually pretty ho-hum about being objectified. She knows people see her as basically a herm first, and anything else second, and while she'd rather they didn't, she's pretty indifferent to it. Not for it, not against it... just kind of "get on with it." It's my own timing to blame here, as there's no way for a viewer to know she's like that from the few images of her I've done, and I haven't shown that much of this mentality in Tyni... yet.
I guess this piece is a sign I should get on that soon."
"...Don't get me wrong, I'm cool with drawing smut, and I'm not getting tired of drawing it-- but I AM getting tired of drawing ONLY it. (This was mentioned before in SkaKutz's Anthrocon "Fossilized Renovation" report from a few years ago.) But if all that you, the viewer, have to go by is concept A, and I'm trying to hint at the very existence of concept B in an image that looks like concept A at first glimpse, or heck, maybe even second or third glimpse... This is the only real thing I can apologize about in this matter-- the fact that not many know how Tyni (or any of my characters) thinks as of yet. This will be rectified in time, perhaps by updating the bios on my site, perhaps with the advent of a comic. Time will tell.
This response is gonna get copy-pasted into a new journal entry, just so you know. I'd like to use this to try to elaborate to anyone else, then I'm quite possibly gonna wipe that journal, as well as this submission, I haven't decided. Part of me wants to leave it here for posterity. Deleting this would be potentially negative, because this IS a success for the conversation and discussion and thought it triggered. But then again, some see it as drama, and I hate drama. Decisions, decisions.
Save/screencap it while you can!"
~~~
So there ya go-- my stance on it, for what it's worth. There's what I was aiming for, and what I succeed at, and where I fell short.
TL:DR; that's what I get for trying to be arty! :D
More to come!
IMPORTANT FURFRIGHT INFORMATION.  PLEASE READ SLOWLY, CAREFULLY AND THOROUGHLY.
Well, it's still summer for the moment, but it won't be too long before Fall, and with Fall comes FurFright!
www.FurFright.org
I'll be there, and I'll be tattooing, though instead of in the Dealer's Dungeon/Artist Alley, I'll be nomadically doing it in the confines of rooms, whether my own or the client's. Here's where you come in, o reader.
You want some ink? You need to contact me well in advance to set up your appointment, as well as let me know what you want, where you want it on your body, and if need be, get the design hammered out. I don't like taking walk-ups, I'd rather have everyone planned out ahead of time so the stencils are already prepared. (Some of you have already contacted me to get designs laid out for FurFright, and I know who you are.)
What's that-- you say haven't seen my work before? Well then-- Here, have a few samples. Be sure to take your time and read what they have to say.
