Still here.
Posted 10 years agoHi, all. I'm still here, still alive, still slowly going, still working on all commissions/projects I have pending. No, no one has been forgotten. Sorry for the distance and disconnects and disappointment. I am still here. No, I'm not as public or social as I once was. I don't talk to anyone but my job for now. But I am still here.
I Am Still Here.
Not much to report since the last journal, but my employers let me know that people are worried/panicked, and I would like to ask you not to worry or panic. Things are still underway, and I will make them all worth the wait. I don;t like to do a lot of B through Z (or talk about them, for that matter) unless A is done, or at least there is more to say. I don't really particularly like to make endless journals about progress unless there is something substantial. I'm sorry if this has put people in any distress.
However, there will never be a complete disappearance from me unless I die, in which SOMEONE would surely say something (after all, word travels fast in the fandom), or say "goodbye" first. ESPECIALLY if I still owe things.
I'm still here. Please stay tuned, and thank you for your patience and understanding.

Hey, what's that?

Posted 11 years agoRest well, Jim. You and your art, storytelling and characters were one of the keystones of this community. You and I never met, but you called me now and again and we'd talk about motorcycles and art. Thank you for that. I hope if there's a better place, that you're in it.

skunkworksAn Announcement.
Posted 11 years agoIt's been a while since I've made any kind of substantial journal, aside from little updates about my project or in-memoriam tributes, and it is time I made one here.
I used to be in the spotlight of the furry scene a lot, as some of you may know, and for a while I really reveled in it. Subsequent to moving to this state, I've found the 'off-the-radar' mode of being an artisan in this fandom a lot less stressful, and a lot more personally meaningful. Of course, it means that I don't do as many conventions, nor as frequently, and if I had a reason for that, it's because I like the thought of being like some of the older artists I look up to; those who're known by their ART, and not by their appearances at cons, or their appearance in general. I remember once trying to break down that social barrier between artist and non-artist; the barrier that makes potential commissioners and fans afraid to talk to artists. I wanted to eliminate this, to show that we're just people too, and that anyone can come talk to us (me), but I digress; this manner of thinking has likely has made me overly accessible, and I need to draw some strict lines.
I have a girlfriend whom I am happy with, and I need to make that clear, here and now, because I haven't, and I want to. She's in the fandom, but like myself, not very active in it anymore; I dare say even less so than I am. Nonetheless, she and I are currently working together through a lot of shit that is my own fault, and I truly need to do what I should've always done, and publically make it known, even if I am more of a reclusive hermit now. I will also publically ask that anyone who ever communicates with me-- via note, email, text, whatever-- please be RESPECTFUL of the fact that we are together and exclusive to each other. Please do that for me, and for us. If you can't do that, I will not communicate with you. I'm really going to start putting my foot down and not sparing others' feelings, because her's come first, and this is important.
Now, there's not going to be any 'disappearing from the fandom' from me just yet, not until I complete everything I owe. As mentioned in past journals, I'm not going to run away with anyone's funds; progress on all things is still going on, between commissions, Cherri DVD+, and work for my job with HTH. There will again be streams soon to show where everything's status is. But I wanted to make a statement regarding my OWN status, so it's undeniably known.
Thanks for reading. More to come later.

DVD+ Progress Stream Soon!
Posted 11 years agoThere will be a stream soon to show the ongoing progress on the Cherri DVD+ portfolio project!
Stick around.
Stick around.
Thank you, Harold.
Posted 11 years agoNot just for Ghostbusters, which was very important to many a childhood, including my own, but for all your other written, directed and starred works.
For Stripes, Animal House, Caddyshack, Meatballs, Groundhog Day, the Analyze This films, and even Year One (I liked it.)
Thank you.

Commission Slots Still Open
Posted 12 years agoThese past few days have been nothing but productive. Working on one commission lineart a day, and DVD stuff at night. It's just been unfortunate that I haven't been able to stream it like I used to. Nonetheless, I'm about to get back to drawing more today, and I wanted to remind you that there are still 3 commission slots open (and more will open today; I'm gonna finish at least 2 inks today.)
New completed commissions are being added all the time to THIS LINK http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/3655016/
If you or someone you know wants to get some artwork done, now's the time! Note me with an idea of what you want, and I can quote you a price for it!

Updates, and Commission Slots
Posted 12 years agoGood evening, FA.
First and foremost, Cherri DVD+ progress update: All the DVD case packaging designs are done, ready to be printed and cut, and the flash animating is what I've been focusing on the last month or two. Lots more lipsyncing to go, and loads more frame-by-frame. Images to come!
Secondly, regarding my commission queue: I am finally getting over a major art block, and tonight I burned through two commissions in my queue. It felt like turning over an engine that had been neglected. I am going to try to keep that momentum, and power through the remaining queue. I've done it before, and I'll just do it again.
The satellite internet connection where I am is very bad. The ISP is HughesNet, which is the only option where I live. It's temperamental and spotty at best, and will cut out for hours at a time at worst, so I am mostly offline as far as that is concerned. So if you've been trying to contact me, I AM around, just please have patience. I WILL get back to you.
I'm always open for commissions (I don't really advertise it, but all one has to do is contact me regarding this), but I'll mention it here. I am opening officially for seven (7) slots for full color commissions.
Drop me a line with what you have in mind, if interested, and I can quote you a price.
I'll be editing this list as the slots fill, so snag them quickly!
1.
sashadarkcloud (coloring)
2.
gundragon
3.
gypsypony
4.
ElunaOdis
5.
Ouros (penciling)
6.
Kitsuryu
7.
LoveAndTolerate
I've got to save up for a move to an area where there's better ISP, then I can stream progress on things again, commissions, DVD progress, general artwork.
So that's it for now. See you soon.

Still Here.
Posted 12 years agoFirstly, I want to say thank you again for supporting the Cherri DVD+ portfolio project, and thank you for your patience. I'm still very much hard at work on this portfolio, and I don't want to give you excuses, but rather, reasons for the obvious delay, for what it's worth.
Between some personal issues, relocating to a new state, and subsequent computer issues (my PC's motherboard and videocard both futzed on me right after the move), it's been a very tough few months. I've recently just gotten back online, and as such I've just now seen some comments from worried folks thinking I might have vanished. This simply isn't the case. Regarding the donations, as intended, it's been used to acquire most of the physical stuff I'd mentioned (dvd cases, supplies, etc), and am getting the last of it on my own. Nonetheless:
I do apologize for both the radio silence and going past my deadline.
However, I've been drawing while offline; the remaining images and frame-by-frame animation for this compendium, and there's a light at the end of this tunnel.
I've been putting all my spare time into finishing the Cherri DVD+. I was slated to do Guest of Honor at the upcoming FurAffinity: United convention in New Jersey, and was to make some imagery for it. I thought it over, and cancelled it for this year, because this portfolio takes precedence, and quite frankly I owe it to you guys.
In short, I'm still here, and I'll try to keep you updated with substantial previews (without giving too much away, of course) so you can rest assured that this is going forward.
As for commissions, finishing the ones I owe, and then stepping back from them for a bit.
Thank you again,
~Fossil

Back On The Air.
Posted 13 years agoWow, what a sabbatical.
FurFright, then the hurricane, which killed my PC's power supply, then the snowstorm, and finally back online here! Big thanks to
sirkain for the PSU! Installed it half an hour or so ago, and all's well; Everything is safe, no files lost!
Now I have to get back to work; I have been limited in my checking FA and my own email for the past week and some change, so now to catch up with that. Got to see about the commission inquiries I'm taking on, and then of course, the Cherri project! (I'd been just drawing traditional while my PC was out.)
Just letting you know I'm up and running again.

Emergency Commissions for November. (1200 goal)
Posted 13 years agoGood morning, FA. WELP, HERE WE ARE.
After the hurricane, the PSU in my PC promptly died, and obviously I really, REALLY need to replace that ASAP. I am writing this entry from my phone, heh.
My OffBeatr campaign for the Cherri DVD+ reached its' goal (thank you all so much, again!), and then I learn there is another month to wait for funds to be paid out, which kind of threw everything off.
Then of course there's expenses for November, part of which couldn't be dealt with without power.
I've been stretching out the little bit of gas still in the tank, because those 2-hour gas lines... nope.
Also... may be needing to take a trip south, to Georgia, my home state; my grandmother is very, very sick.
Finally, to top it off, there is said to be some kind of snowstorm front coming today.
SO, I am open for commissions. I need to raise about 1200 to cover what I have to do, and THEN I should be alright next month when the OffBeatr stuff finally kicks in. I'll keep drawing, working on the handful of commissions I currently have, and as soon as I can get my PSU replaced, I will assuredly be streaming progress on commissions (and of course, Cherri project stuff) again for you to watch.
If interested, please email me with an idea of what you want to have done, and I can price quote it: FossilTheUndeadArtist@Gmail.com. Prices depend on your input, so let me know!

Catch-Up: When It Rains, It Snows
Posted 13 years agoWhat's new, FA?
FurFright was okay this time around. Didn't really leave my own room much, and only tattooed the first day. Left Sunday evening, rather than the usual Monday before checkout. But those of you I actually saw, it was great to see you. Got back to NY with scullyraptor, Fluffball and dragon-chan just in time to watch a downed power line spark in our neighbor's yard for a couple hours, then the inevitable loss of electricity for a while during the hurricane. The storm didn't last as long as I expected, which was fortunate. Halloween was totally uneventful otherwise. No trick-or-treaters, just a lot of downed trees and limbs and leaves. Power came up again for us yesterday. Oh, and now there's allegedly a big snowstorm coming this Wednesday, so we'll see how that goes.
The OffBeatr Campaign for the Cherri DVD+ ends TOMORROW. The goal's met, and exceeded, and I thank you all SO MUCH for your votes and support! (This is also the last call to get your name in the credits, basically. Just saying.)
CHERRI DVD+ OFFBEATR UPDATE: ATTENTION PLEASE:
I'd set the release date around mid January, thinking the cashout for the funds would be as soon as the campaign itself is over. In fact, the site itself indicates funds will be sent on Nov 5th. However, after seeing the one-month wait for cashouts from Skidd's and Onta's projects, and having talked to Offbeatr myself, I know that it's gonna be a month until the funds actually arrive (they have to collect everyone's actual pledges, which can take up to a month), so here's the deal:
I'm going to continue working on the project, but I unfortunately have to push its' release back one month, to late February, to be realistic. I can't finish it by the end of January now, because I have to cover expenses for THIS month, meaning I have to make ends meet working my normal occupations and doing stuff to pay the bills, rather than focusing on the Cherri DVD+ project. It's still going to happen, don't you worry. I'd never dare abandon this; as I said, I want to see this thing happen more than you do- it's merely the fact that the crowdfunding payout is still a month away, even though the OffBeatr site says the payout will be Nov. 5th, which is what I based my plan on. Probably more like Dec. 5th now. Anyway, I'll just continue providing updates on progress, and streaming new Cherri DVD+ lineart pics.
Midwest FurFest is a no-go this year, I'm afraid. While I had a room secured, I simply can't afford it this go 'round. Maybe in the future.
What else... well. I'll just say right now, everything's up in the air.
Back to work for me. See you soon!

Deeply Flattered: The Cherri DVD+ OffBeatr.
Posted 13 years agoYou guys are golden.

I reached the goal for funding my Cherri DVD+ today, with still 18 days to go. THANK YOU to all who voted, pledged, spread the word, and just overall had positivity flowing! Goodness knows that's what this required.
I've already been back to working on it pretty much nonstop for the past few days including today, and coming up with more new images for it (prior to the last few days, I worked on it here and there, as aforementioned). I've only got a few more commissions to tackle, and then it's nothing but Cherri stuff.
I have a deadline to keep. <3

FurFright Tattoo Appointments.
Posted 13 years agoHey, all.
FurFright approaches once again, and I'm gonna be tattooing as ever.
I'm not gonna be inking ALL CON this time, as I want to leave some time to myself. With that being said, now is the time to reserve your slot and make an appointment (your preferred day and time) to get inked.
Got a design? Email me: FossilTheUndeadArtist (at) Gmail (dot) com with what you have in mind, the size from top to bottom, placement on your body, and preferred time and day. I'll reply with a price quote and information about contacting you at the convention. You can put the entire payment of the tattoo down, OR pay in part beforehand, then the rest at the con, to secure your spot.
Examples of my work are pretty much all over FA (search Fossil Tattoo) or in my own tattoo gallery, http://FossilTattoo.com .
~~~
Aside from that, finishing up the last commissions I have, and preparing to get back to working on the Cherri DVD+, which is nearing the goal in OffBeatr!
I've had some questions from interested parties like "what'll the animation look like?" Well, stick around, because I'm making a little YouTube video which will show some of it, as well as some of the still images in this thing. This's just another friendly reminder to please go check it out, and if you're feeling able, help get this thing off the ground! Trust me when I say, it's gonna be BIG.
The 230 Votes were received, and the project was moved to Active status, and is even a Featured Prroject on OffBeatr!
There's 45 Days to reach the goal! Every little bit helps, so I apologize in advance, but I'm gonna be pimping this out a LOT for a bit, and I hope you do too! Tell your friends, and tell them to tell their friends. Trust me when I say, this thing is gonna really be big.
In the meantime, I'm taking this time to complete the last commissions I have, take a few more, and then I'm switching gears to total focus on this project, so it can finally be completed after all this time! I haven't been this excited about this in a WHILE.
I want to say thank you again for your support!
