It was more so earlier last week that I was thoroughly and assuredly feeling right as rain again, back to my old self. Took a few extra days to myself but now going to be doing a couple days of some stream work for you fine folk to get my August dues squared away-

and then after that.. no hurdles in the near-future that I can think of! 💪 So I should be able to catch my backlog up proper through to the end of August. I want to apologize again for July getting as off the mark as it did. Between getting asked to house-sit for family nearby near the start and then immediately getting gifted a hardy helping of covid when they returned from their trip after that, the entire month went off the rails 😭

Some General Rules

For this round of PWYW-days I am going to be upping the minimum to $25 just because I've been finding that a little too often when I'm presented an idea or a character, it's either A. almost always full body or B. I can't bring myself to just doodle headshots of chars ;w; Maybe I could try half bodies/bust shots sometimes but even then I always seem to end up doing more out of sheer habit, even for much simpler characters. Then, even with simply sketches let alone colored sketches I do end up taking a decent chunk of time getting everything down >v<

but I digress, same as rulings always otherwise: I'm alright with not-too-complicated ideas if not preferring to wing it/have full artistic freedom; just to make sure I can get as many taken care of in one sitting; but I must remind again that pwyw stands for "Pay what you want."

Presenting your character and then merely adding in "I want a Full body flat color" / "I want a colored sketch" is a little counterproductive to the process of: You send X amount -> You get roundabout the time + effort in-stream on your piece to match >v< One can also refer to my standard comm prices on my profile for a decent general ballpark of what that'd all entail. Do keep in mind though that the complexity (or vice versa, simplicity!) of a char or idea can also factor into that, as well as if you have multiple characters in mind!! (No more than 2 please ;w; any more per will take me a whiiiile.)

Hopefully this helps the process a wee bit >v< I also know that a lot of artists all handle pwyw a little differently than one another too, that's just how I prefer to go about it at the moment. Thanks for peeking!

Due to getting covid gifted to me by my family I house sat for last week after they returned from their cruise. Not even a few days later that I returned home I woke up with immense chills, a bad fever, sore throat, aches throughout my entire body and negative appetite. They did help load me up with soups and medicine though and I'm feeling a bit less death today, but it's going to be tough to push through long draw sessions for the next week or two, whilst I still gotta make rent due for August.

I don't like pushing things this far on the wayside on folks, believe me- just if it isn't one thing it's another 😔 Just wanted to get this word out before I go a little aloof/even more quiet for the next couple weeks while I push through this. I'll definitely keep y'all posted + maybe sate some entertainment with a plethora of art uploads I still gotta toss up!

Thank you all so far for the well wishes! I definitely feel a bit better than the first couple days after I woke up practically dead to the world. My fam's dropped me off care packages of soups and meds which I've been using religiously. The fever, headaches and aches have dissipated and even the sore throat has been dying down as of writing this. Working the coughing now and taking it easy, hoping to be a lot more functional by the end of this week with any luck >v<

At it again, same rhythm as before- After squaring other July bills well and away, I've got a goal of about $400 more to make over the weekend!

-though I'm gonna be taking a break around 9 est; I'll try to be back on again after that as well as another, longer stream Saturday if I can-

The weekend's gonna be a tad weird as it's up in the air whether I'll be relocating to a relative's for a week to house-sit while they're on vacation; which will include attempting to bring my PC with me to continue working. I'm going to try to add a bit more clarity to the process and preferences this time around going forward.

As PWYW (Pay What You Want) - The purpose is to get you work quick and on the spot/same day (if not the day directly after, time permitting-) I've had a few instances so far of folks wanting a slot and simply specifying they want 'A colored sketch of X' / 'A flats / full color of X'. I can very well go up to any level of detail in my prices on the in-stream pwyw requests but time and effort also play a part into the process, the idea presented to me, the detail of the character(s), etc.

If you intend to get a -specific- quality/tier out of the request, I'd advise to 1. Peek at my price list to get a general idea of around what amount would equate to what (I try to match it as close as I can, within reason!) and 2. Take into account how detailed any characters involved might be passed simple designs.

i.e. if it would take me longer to draw due to a myriad of extra details/limbs/accessories to their design, that will affect how soon I call the request complete based on the $ amount sent! It also means if you surefire want a particular tier for the request, it's going to cost more $ - same concept than extra detail / extra character fees really.

Just wanted to get that out there! I'll try to streamline the wording on this little excerpt for the future and include it as a general guideline to my pwyw sessions for folks to easily reference back to in case there's any confusion >v< Just as well, certainly feel free to ask any questions.

Depending on the scale of any potential requests I'll probably do only 4 or 5 for the night given how hot and muggy it is today, the bar below me has been partying loud and hard for the holiday weekend so it's hard to focus xvx so gonna be working at a slower pace >v< I'll be going for a good while into the night though most likely! o7 Fixed up the stream settings so feeling good about that.

Where to begiiiiin; I'm so bad at journals it's not even funny 😭

Firstly, the lead up into April had been so so stressful; foreboding, nerve-racking, not the mention a headache or few sometimes while I was trying to juggle apartment & room hunting with research on what all I'd need to get my handmedown car up and running again. Working with my father on that was an extra grievance, many a week that went by waiting on him to get with me over settling title paperwork and getting with his mechanic connections to save us a bit of money on repairs.
It's now in the workshop and getting taken care of- no eta granted, but much better than where it was: gathering dust in a driveway unable to start





Next, all of YOU.

It'd be impossible to overstate how incredibly generous and helpful all of you have been up to this point. Within just a couple weeks of support from some up front commission orders to donations and signal boosts from great friends & other artists alike, I was looking at a manageable chunk of funds that were absolutely going to be enough to help kickstart me leap to find a spot to move to on such short notice.

It worked out- and like my reply to a recent comment on my previous journal; I was able to find a room nearby in March, settle its down-payment and square off the first month's rent of April through and through I cannot stress enough how pivotal everyone's support up to that point had been in getting through that. The commissions, the donations, and the kind words/emotional support too- it all got me to where I am right now: A new & convenient roof on my head and the drive to keep going.

Now, as for where I've been at with the orders up to this point through this month:

Then, from March to now, it'd be an understatement on the flipside even to call that time through April a whirlwind; knowing that I had to be out of my previous place by at most the mid-April point was a rough overlap with me

1. Getting any last minute checks and balances and all my personal belongings packed + moved over to the new place.
2. Working through getting good ol' happy & fun Taxes filed my first time as a Freelance artist.
3. Chipping away at a handful of folks' commission orders in the midst of my scrambling

(Thankfully on that second bit, my previous job I left during the boom of Covid, despite their poor handling of the situation- was as Customer Service for some local area taxes for a few years prior; so such an experience helped make the task a little less daunting at the end of the day)





With where I'm at now all settled, the next important bit- everyone's orders:

I had sincerely hoped I'd have been able to set my head down and focus much, much more on drawing during that February through March time, but the stress of what was coming next and hunting a place to go- never mind preparing for such after I had an inkling of where- proved to be too great. I was only able to chip at a handful as opposed to really blow through the queue, as making sure I was all set for my move took precedence.

I'm very, very sorry for that- and for everyone that's still waiting for a word on their pieces, I'm getting there 🙏

Unfortunately, I'm not entirely out of the woods yet- with one more hurdle to cross in my current position: May rent. Now that I'm settled in my new place there's a lot less of a physical and mental scramble needing to be done and I can duly focus on what I wanted to through Feb-Mar, setting my head down and focusing on cracking out folks' orders proper and knock that daunting queue on my profile out of the park.

The past few days I have been getting a few done- but it was through the tail end of properly finishing my move and then taking a couple days to breathe- rest my body and mind- it ended up being just that, a few.

I'm going to be fully transparent here on my next speed bump: My rent's $600 here and I've got $15 in the bank at the moment. This is coming off of my April payment, groceries and storage as well as some payments that went towards getting my taxes filed/paid and the car costs.

I need to have one more push before I've got a true full month's respite to focus wholly on all of you: All of you generous, patient souls that have orders sitting with me in the queue.

I've been debating how exactly I want to go about this, between trying to have a couple same-day Stream commissions- something I haven't done in a good while, or opening up a queue of 10 May slots; but they wouldn't be set in priority aside from being sketched at on the side of the current queue on my profile, and then most likely cracked at closer to late May as I revolve the slots door around again come June, etc.

Been debating on even doing both, but don't want to pull too much focus away from current work- nor have anyone in wait having to do so any much longer. So, I think I'm going to do a little of both. I need $600 by next Sunday and what I'm going to do is open less May slots for the time being, 6 instead of my typical 10:

I'm sincerely sorry for the wait some of you have been on the past couple weeks, it hasn't been very happy a new year for me- I've been thrown for quite a loop:

My housemate's intending to let a relative have my room (His house, His rules) to keep an eye on her going through some surgery- however what this means for me is unfortunately the worst case in that I don't have much time to work with, and my own family is quite split at the moment when it comes to living options

My mother doesn't have space, nor does my father- who both are split and intend to move out of the area soon; my little brother is in roughly the same boat come later this year- but not even I have that amount of time; I have until April to be in my own place, rented or otherwise- or out on the street.

At the moment my only option is to 1: get enough money to fix up the car in need of some slight repair before it's fully serviceable for the road- to make me finding a location to stay easier; then 2: actually having enough money to facilitate the latter, be it renting out space nearby, an apartment or otherwise. It's not a small feat- but I don't have many other options.

With the Christmas rush close to being done and family time done, I'm going to get back to proper commissions that I had somewhat on the wayside the past month. Looking back on the stream of Winter/Holiday YCHs I opened up for, they got some decent interest both on site and off alike but they did end up overshadowing my regular comm' work with both my work flow and the timing of it- on top of the amount that I got.

In the future I might open up for some again depending on the holiday and whatever ideas I might get in, but I'm going to look to handle the process different, how they're worked and/or how many I choose to take in. >v<

Anyway, my current batch of commissions are about halfway worked through and I'm continuing to crack at them! Expect them all done by mid Jan after New Years is settled in, if you're still in the wait for one. I might open up January slotting in that mean time or just wait till mid-month but I will see how the chips fall, keep an eye out either way!

Heya peeps and peepettes!

While I finish up the last of the July batch and an order from my latest impromptu stream, I'm gonna open up the floor for September comms'. In the meantime I'm gonna get some uploads tossed up that I keep forgetting to dooo - including the pieces that I squeezed in for my very first Art Fight this year, proudly representing Team Steampunk~

Had a blast participating, met a couple artists to freshly follow and was honored to get a few shots back of my own characters. On top of the fun I had and extra practice I got, it was definitely worth participating, totally gonna do so again next year

Still working through the July commissions batch, much assured! Just the short lapse I had (along with a very unfortunate extra-several chunks of car insurance payments I got hit with by my insurance company upon updating their billing systems...) Took a sizable chunk out of my wallet for the month so- to front a couple bills and groceries I'm gonna be opening up some on the spot orders in stream sometime Saturday, perhaps into Sunday too. Not super sure on the timeframe but most likely sometime in the mid to late evening!

I'm going to look into doing some revamping of what all I offer since I've been asked in the past on pricings for things such as comics/sequenced images, ref sheets, icons/emotes with no clear cut answer other than winging a price together. Friendly reminder that I go for my 2nd vaccine shot on the 28th so there may be a lull in activity from me around that point again, hoping any side effects don't last too long-

After I took a brief mental break, I was able to get myself scheduled for vaccination too and got my first shot taken care of last week; resulted in quite a hurty arm haha, but thankfully not much else other than bits of extra exhaustion. My second dose is way later this May which- in case the side effects of that are a doozy- I'm going to make doubly sure I get all your pieces squared away and the next round of comms at least on the docket before then.

It's not all the smoothest of sailing however; my break did as expected, with the revolving door of work I'm doing put off kilter in that time again; I may put up a single art-stream this weekend for a couple on the spot, quickie orders. It'll be just to get some extra grocery funds in pocket before we're deeper into the month here in between finishing this slotted round, so keep watch for that!
