I'm still really frigging worried about FOSTA/SESTA. In the month and a half since Tumblr went clean and completely fucked over the LGBT community, furry community and so on, there's an increasing volume of news stories about how this is just the beginning of a wider trend of sex censorship, particularly against the LGBT community. I know that various people, such as  zeo_fawx have already said that I shouldn't be worried about the NSFW content that I enjoy being wiped from the face of the internet, but it's really hard for me to believe anyone... Panic rubs off onto me, and there's still this sense of alarm about what Tumblr and Facebook did at the tail-end of 2018. It's just really hard for me to not be terrified when there's a large volume of op-eds about how adult content is going the way of the dodo because of FOSTA/SESTA, and because of Apple's puritanical requirements with their App Store apps and such...
Right now, my particular and most immediate worry is Discord. Approximately two weeks ago, there were various stories about how Discord was being used to lure teenagers into "human trafficking situations", which under FOSTA/SESTA, Discord could face civil or even criminal charges over. This even caught the attention of Forbes 2 days ago, as they released a news article talking about how Discord was being used for various illegal activities, including the thing I mentioned earlier. I'm fucking TERRIFIED that Discord is going to have to ban the sharing of adult artwork and even the mention of sex itself on their messaging app, in order to avoid being banned from the App Store and/or getting served with a pretty little lawsuit or criminal charges.
I feel like we're all frogs in a pot of water, and every now and again, somebody turns the temperature dial just a little bit higher.
Yeah, this was a particularly long journal, but I'm pretty fucking upset about things right now... I need some serious help.

I don't know if some have noticed this or not, but I've been pretty withdrawn lately. It's a combination of lack of energy, thanks to the cold darkness that is winter time, and a somewhat deep depression. I'm worried about a ton of heavy things at the moment, and it's been weighing on me heavily. Which has led to me doing a lot more "distraction" activities, primarily video games. Just know that if I haven't talked to you much lately, it doesn't mean that I've stopped caring about you. I still care greatly about all of my friends, and I still care deeply about this awesome fandom. I really hope that I can feel better soon, but in the mean time, feel free to drop me a line if you want to chat. I won't bite. :3

Yup, that's exactly how I feel. 2018 was a very shitty year, and it can fuck right off. While 2017 was a year where I first entered the fandom and made tons and tons of progress within a short window of times, 2018 was a year where pretty much nothing happened at all. Fuck, I'm even stuck at the same community college I've been at for the last 5 years!!! Gaaaah!!!
Thank god the next semester there will be my last. Is life SUPPOSED to move this slow in adulthood?
In addition to the the whole lot of nothing, my anxiety has gotten markedly worse this year. As if the last 2 months of 2017 weren't bad enough for me. Those who know me well know that I tend to get panicked whenever there's law changes regarding the internet. And 2018 has had a lot of those too, unfortunately. There was FOSTA-SESTA in April, the Net Neutrality repeal went into effect in June, and of course, the battle this year in the EU over Article 13, with a decisive loss for internet users in September. 2019 is looking pretty ominous, tbh, in that regard.
What I'm trying to say is, 2018 was a miserable fucking year. If I believed in God, I'd make a prayer that 2019 would be a much, much, better year for me...

I don't know why it took me this long to ask this, but I'd like to know if there's any groups here on FA for furs who live in the US State of Massachusetts, my current home. I have no idea of how to search for that, so I was wondering if anyone would know how I'd track it down.

3 weeks ago, I created a journal discussing Tumblr's porn ban, and why it might've happened and whether or not it was the beginning of a trend of puritanical censorship, for a variety of reasons.
In the weeks since, I've been seeing more and more news stories claiming that a law called FOSTA-SESTA (Which I've mentioned before; won't go into detail), is culpable in Tumblr's decision to ban NSFW content, and that Tumblr is only the beginning. People are saying that the entire internet is going to be scrubbed clean of NSFW content soon enough and that places like Pornhub might not even be safe from that law's clutches. Seriously, this is a cause for panic.
I'm concerned about Twitter banning adult content, because I spend a lot of my time on the internet there. But, I'm also concerned that IMVU will one day order this site to remove all of its mature and adult content.

Obligatory Christmas Journal. Yeah, I'm not feeling too great about things lately, so sadly, the seasonal cheer hasn't really rubbed off on me all that much. But, I will say that I hope that everyone is enjoying their holidays. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year!

I know that you've heard me yammer on and on and on about Article 13, but I just had a chat with a friend who told me about the implications of this article:
"It will mean that large websites which rely on user-created content will have to adapt to EU rules in order to keep functioning within the EU. For a site like FA, it would likely mean a clampdown on the unauthorised publishing of copyrighted characters (Disney, Pixar, Marvel etc.) in the form of art, be that graphic, literary, or otherwise. If they don't then, they could be taken to court by those companies who own the content, and sued as liable for the actions of their members. Unless companies are benevolent about the use of their copyrighted material, that is, but that's highly unlikely."
So, not only would this mean that fan art will become a fucking AUP violation, it would also mean that people who have unique characters based on copyrighted things, like, I don't know POKEMON, would be fucking ruined. This is even worse than I could've ever imagined... This is a calamity...

Anyway, I've thought of something cool; something that I haven't seen yet on FA. Those who are aware of my kinks know that I LOVE mummification. But, you know, I've only seen ONE artwork so far of a jade burial suit. You know, the ancient Chinese equivalent of Egyptian mummification? (Look it up on Wikipedia if you don't know what I'm talking about)
Anyway, you can probably see where this is going. Um... Since it's basically a new and untested idea, I'm wondering if anyone here would be willing to draw my sona undergoing this style of mummification. It'd have to be a request, though, at least at this time, since I currently don't have any disposable income. Anyway, lemme know your thoughts. I can't wait to hear 'em!

Yeah, I'm still depressed, and occasionally panicked, about fuckin' Article 13. And thanks to the boneheads that run the clusterfuck known as the European Union, ALL WEBSITES will be forced to comply with this absurd new copyright regime. Which means that Fur Affinity will definitely have to BAN ALL OF ITS EUROPEAN USERS, because there's no fucking way that this website can foot the bill for a fancy copyright filter like YouTube's Content ID. It needs to be repeated, YOUR ACCOUNT IS IN DANGER OF DELETION IF YOU'RE FROM THE EU! Yeah, that sounds like doomsaying, but the stakes are THAT high. If Article 13 can't be stopped, chances are, your account here will have to be closed if you live in Europe. This is Red Alert.

I'm sure that everybody already knows about this, so I won't really go into much detail. Basically, Tumblr is banning ALL NSFW content. While I don't really care, since I closed my account there well over a year ago, I'm feeling anxious that other websites will end up following suit. So, basically, do you think this is an unfortunate, isolated incident or an omen of things to come? I'd greatly appreciate your thoughts.

My boyfriend  beatle9 and I had a really awesome RP last night where I gained a werefox form. Basically, it's just a mega buffed up version of my sona. Jamie with extra height and muscle and a much more feral demeanor. It was a pretty hot RP, and I'm thinking that I'd like to hold onto my sona's Werefox form. I have yet to figure out the backstory behind it, though, but I'm hoping that I'd be able to commission someone or get a request for this.

The country with "Liberty and Justice for ALL" has decided today to define gender on a strict male-female basis, and base it off of what you were upon birth. So, in short, if you're trans, you're in a lot of trouble if you're from America. Hell, I'm even worried about myself, even though I'm not trans, but because I'm gender nonconforming... And, that's not even including the fact that I'm worried that this'll lay the groundwork to attack gays, lesbians and bisexuals in the future. America's moral fiber has been completely destroyed, replaced by gleeful hatred towards those who are different. America is officially fascist now.
Tangents aside, I'm so sorry if you're a trans man or woman, or gender nonbinary who lives in America. You deserve so much better. You deserve a government who protects your right of self-expression; not one who chomps at the bit to callously take it away. Nobody deserves to be legally erased from existence. Nobody deserves any of this.

Remember my meltdown from about a month ago? Well, I still don't feel too great about it. Making it nearly impossible to be eligible for safe harbor status is a horrible thing for the internet. And, if this fucking copyright directive out of the EU isn't stopped, and if Fur Affinity is judged to be "large enough" under the law, then Dragoneer and the others will be forced to pick their poison: Either degrade all of their users' experiences on the site by implementing what's in effect, YouTube's Content ID system or give all of their European users the boot from the site. I'm actually a lot more worried about the latter. I mean, how many of your friends live in Europe? How many of the site's most popular artists are from Europe? If they're all blocked, I'm so afraid that it'll devastate this site...
I really wish that there was some way I could have a conversation with the higher-ups here...

Despite the way I've been acting and feeling over the last week, things aren't over for the copyright directive in the EU yet. There's still one more vote in January. Granted, we blew our best and easiest chance to fix this, (Which really fucking sucks...) but it's not set in stone yet. But, make no mistake, this is the Last Chance Saloon. This is our last stand, and if we don't give it our all, and I literally mean ALL, the internet in Europe will be ruined just so that legacy industries don't have to adapt to the 21st century. Worse, there's signs that other nations are studying what's happening in the EU. Canada has been showing some worrying signs for the future of its copyright laws, and I'm almost certain that the dipshit politicians in the US will try to resurrect the desiccated corpse of SOPA-PIPA if this goes through. So, please, take a few minutes out of your day and compose an e-mail (preferably from scratch) or make a phone call to your MEP. I know that this is a big ask, but the power is yours. The future is in your hands.

The last 6 days of my life have been a living fucking hell. An unceasing nightmare that I can't wake up from. I literally want to tear my hear out...

So, yeah, I'm worried that fanart will be forbidden to be uploaded here in a few years. Maybe even artworks of uncopyrighted characters if the fucking bots are stupid. And, that's even if  dragoneer can work magic and make this site compliant to the new regs. To say that this is horrible would be grossly understating it.

A common trait of people who have Aspergers', like myself, is to have OCD-like tendencies. So, sometimes, I unfave and refave some works to adjust the order of my faves, since it's not possible to organize favorited works on this site. I swear that I'm not messing with people when I do that... Does it look weird when a notification shows up that I've faved the same thing multiple times? But, yeah, I generally like NSFW and SFW artworks to kinda stick together in my faves folder...
Also, if I unfave stuff for good, which I occasionally do, please don't take it personally. I have a lot of favorites, and I'd rather not hold on to stuff that I don't love with absolutely 100% of my heart.

Nearly 4 years ago, I wrote a short novel explaining how my Skyrim character, a red-scaled Argonian named Little-Fire, ended up in the game. It's uh... Rather cringy in certain spots, since I've come such a long way in the last 4 years, but I think that I'd still like to post it here or on SoFurry anyway. I'm not really interested in editing, so it'd be posted as-is, mistakes and all. So, what do you all think? Is it a good idea? Would you be interested in reading it?

I've already posted a similar journal about 2 months ago, but the stakes are so high that people CANNOT forget that this is going on. The EU, back in June, failed to pass a new copyright reform. They wanted to put a tax on links, and implement copyright-seeking bots, like the ones YouTube uses, to track down infringing material, all across the web. However, we're not out of the woods yet. Right now, the EU is attempting to amend the copyright reform, but if you fellas from the EU don't keep the ruckus up, I fear that they'll just run the original proposals through a thesaurus and call it a day.
