Just wanted to give my watchers a heads-up that I do still plan on listing my MFM leftover stock onto my store! It's been taking me a bit since I came back from the con sick with the infamous con crud (but I mean, at least I'm still negative for COVID lol) and most of my time has been spent getting plenty of fluids and rest.

I'm not sure how long I'll be sick but for now, I'm aiming to put everything onto the store no later than 9/21. The prints that I didn't sell will remain in my binder so I have a portfolio for traditional work the next time I table at a con; which means I'll only be restocking my Etsy with leftover buttons, pins, and stickers.

And regarding commissions, those will stay open! I finished both raffle prizes from Bluesky much earlier than anticipated, so I feel confident in accepting requests despite feeling a little under the weather right now. You can track my progress on current commissions through my Trello page. :>

Once I'm done working, I absolutely plan to party hard (however that may look like) so I'm not just stuck in my room feeling sorry for myself.

I got word around lunchtime today that my newest local con, Nomadicon, is shutting down after just one year of existing.

To be honest I kind of feel indifferent to the news, I'm not sad nor happy about it. The con and location was great, yeah, but...the price just to stay for the event is what probably brought them down, if I had to take a wild guess (it was $90 just for attendee level, if I remember right). But on the bright side, it looks like the hotel didn't file a single complaint over any party or furry that was staying there! Which was a huge surprise to me, because I thought we'd be seeing a repeat of MFF where all the hotel room parties were shut down within minutes (on a side note: the two parties I went to myself were super chill :3).

So yeah, I'm a little upset that I don't have a Memorial Day con where I can fullsuit safely by myself anymore...but now I have more funds to save for my other planned trips. Which speaking of, are currently:
• March 14-17: Texas Furry Fiesta
• May 8-12: Furry Weekend Atlanta (the con starts on the 9th but I'm gonna try to be there on my birthday hehe)
• July 4-7: Anthrocon


MFM is up in the air for next year as my time last year wasn't very pleasant, it'll all depend on how this year goes.


[EDIT 10/01]: SO I talked to someone at a Nashville meet yesterday who knew a lot of the old con staff, and it turns out I was so wrong on what I said about the hotel; the Millennium Maxwell REFUSED to have Nomadicon back for another year, so the con canceled 2024 (and beyond) since they are back to having no venue. The cost to attend had nothing to do with them shuttering doors, it was that the hotel decided—literally—that we were too sexually devious to risk hosting us again :(

I kind of can't believe I'm doing this but given how badly my last pin raffle went on Twitter, I think it's safe to say that a good chunk of the fandom has moved on to Bluesky.

So uh, I wasn't expecting to have to take a weeklong hiatus from the internet during Anthrocon week but it's looking like that's what is going to need to happen anyways.

Last night we had a thunderstorm with 80+MPH gusts take out 75% of our sunflowers, a whole tree, and half of our front fence. On top of that, not only are we without power, but we also have no internet or even cellphone signal where I live. I have no idea when my house will be connected back to the outside world and it just didn't feel right to leave my badge commissions and inbox open when I probably won't have regular connection again until I'm on the road to PIttsburgh, so that's what led me to officially call the mini-vacay.

I didn't plan to be offline as long as I was but when life stuff like this happens, I guess it was to be expected.

Simply put, I lost my day job two weeks ago. And after doing a lot of midnight sorting and shuffling around, I think this is what's going to be my game plan in terms of doing paid artwork again:

To give me a little boost of immediate cash, I'm going to once again open up commission slots for JUST badges, since I can whip those out much faster and those tend to better reflect my current art style anyways, IMO. The ad for those has already been posted onto my art channel but I'll get around to posting it here either tonight or early tomorrow. And for my other digital commissions...those will be put on hold until I clear the remaining owed work that I still have left over from 2022 (which, when I was done sorting my Trello page...is only two pieces! A lot less than I originally thought >_>). Once I finish those off, I'll adjust my prices and then make a formal opening announcement like I normally do.

This con is basically going to be my big mental reset that I so desperately need....again. I did not get this at MFM like I originally thought I would (long story, won't go into it here) and as a result, I went in and out of a scary bout of depression that laid me up in bed for days...that's honestly why I have barely posted much of anything these last few months, with nothing for Thanksgiving or even Halloween this year. I'm only still going to MFF because by this point said depression has dwindled away to a more manageable level, to be frank, and it wouldn't hurt for me to try again with just being me at furry conventions. I'll guess we'll find out in a few days if my intuition about this is right though ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯

Short Version:

Long Version:
In case you didn't see it in my last journal...my 14 months of being unemployed are over and I work part-time tending to plants and produce now! My schedule is pretty lax but at the same time, walking and picking up heavy boxes all day has started to sap the amount of energy I can put aside for artwork still...if I'll be honest, most days when I get home I'm actually too tired to focus on much else until the next morning.

That means I'm gonna have to scale back on the commissions that usually take me longer to do (icons and reference sheets) and as far as art goes, I'll be doing just sketches and badges after work. Wednesdays will be saved for full-color requests since I don't work on those days (which means more energy, duh!).

So what does this mean for you? It means asking me for a commission will be easier than ever before—because now you can just send a direct request with EXACTLY what you want by going to my Ko-Fi! I spent the past couple of days setting up my page so you can order something from me like you were ordering off of Amazon or something—try playing around with the add-ons if you can, it's kind of cool :^)

If I'm out of suit or at a party, yeah! You can talk to me in fursuit too but please note that I'm a silent suiter when fullsuiting—don't force me to talk!!

High-fives are okay, but ask before you tackle me into a big hug! Snugs are reserved for close friends and the like. Party settings don't give you a free pass to grope me, if you're gonna be weird then at least ask me if I'm fine with it.

Can I buy you drinks?
For this con, no. I'm taking a break from substances since it aggravates my cramps.

Yes to hugs, just ask first! Snugs are for private meetups only.

How long are you going?
The whole weekend! I'm only staying the night Friday and Saturday though; Sunday I plan to be there until 9PM-ish.

Maybe?? Again, small con so I'm trying not to get my hopes up.

What's your goal(s) for the con this year?
I don't have any "goals" besides to just RELAX. July and August both really wore me down mentally and I'm still kind of recovering from the stuff that happened (long story short: birth control scare and a very bad experience at a local meet), so don't take offense if I seem kind of out of it or don't end up like, partying super hard. I kind of just want this con to be time for me and my more close-knit circle of friends. But come MFF in December, I might try big-scale socializing again...maybe?

Wow, I've been so busy with outside stuff that I never realized that so many of y'all looked at this page... But uh, sorry it's been quiet lately if you just watched me and all that. I meant to get right back to posting after FWA but a few days after I came back, one of my immediate family members tested positive for COVID-19 following an in-person graduation ceremony. So rather than getting to share all my photos and jump back to commissions, I've been busy re-testing for possible exposure and having to deep-clean ALL the stuff I brought over with me.....again.

The good news though is that I'm still negative after being tested twice now—I'll have to test one more time this weekend just to make sure—but yeah, I already gave my hotel roommates and other close contacts the heads-up just in case. It's like as soon as I have the mental capacity to do work, a whole new crisis just decides to show up each and every time....lol.

But uh, anyway... FWA posts are still being worked on but they SHOULD be all up by the end of this week. I know you guys have been waiting on those for a bit so if I can only do one thing this week while being quarantined, it might as well be to finish doing that. >_>
