just a quick notice to say that I'm planning on being scarce for a while. I've scheduled in one of my trademark MIA periods so you won't be seeing much art from me for (probably) a month or so.
If you've watched me for any length of time you know that now and again I'm prone to going missing from the FA scene. Usually I don't give warning though, and some of you have a tendency to worry about my well-being (looks meaningfully at Mark).
Rest assured I'm just experiencing a regular bout of "why do I do what I'm doing" syndrome, and I feel very strongly that I should be paying more attention to my family. Also, I have itchy paws - I want to focus on other things for a while.

Upping the Man Content
General | Posted 18 years agoIf you watch me or at least pop by my page once in a while I'm sure you've noticed that 99.9% of what I draw is female content. There's nothing wrong with that – it's what I like and it's what I’m good at (I hope). Lately however I've been having something of an artistic midlife crisis, where I've figured out that drawing only what you're familiar with and enjoy doing doesn't really promote growth.
So, although the larger percentage of my art will always be based on girl characters, I'm going to try to upload a few more male pin-ups in my gallery. I think it's inevitable that they'll probably all be bishonen (and therefore a tad effeminate) in appearance, because pretty boys are an easier leap from what I'm comfortable with. =^-^'=
For anybody screaming "NOOOOOOOOO – I only like BOOBIES" at their computer, let me say that I'll give plenty of notice when the picture I've uploaded is a guy. I'll either include the fact in the title or add a "boi" in brackets next to it. That way if you're a devout heterosexual male (or lesbian female) you can click the image out of existence before it sears itself into your retinas. It should hopefully prevent you looking in your submissions folder and clicking on the thumbnail of the cosplaying kitty girl only to find a cross-dressing kitty boy.
Being very partial to seeing a "hawt guy" myself, I personally can't say that I'd find this offensive, but I am sensitive to the fact that a lot of people follow my art because of its comforting predictability, and I just thought I’d give everybody fair warning first. ^_^'
On a (very) related note, I've noticed that I have more gay or bi males looking at my work than I ever realized, and that really flatters me – because I've given you so little man art to ogle! Thank you so much for your attention despite this fact, and I hope I can better cater to your taste in future (even if only now and then). *bows*
And thank you again to EVERYONE watching me. Like it says in my info I've quit all the page hopping to say "thanks for watching/faving" because it often annoys people and it also eats up my megabytes. I’ll always try to respond if you leave me a shout though, and I'm very happy to make news friends if you want to add me on MSN – even though I'm not on it that regularly nowadays (please note that I don't appreciate people doing so to try and scam free art).
Finally, to make official my resolve to draw more guys, I'm offering three commission slots for bishi-boy arts. Here’s an example of the sort of thing you can expect:

You can give me general directions as to how you'd like him portrayed or posing, but I'd prefer to put my own spin on him with the promise that he will look nice! =^x^= <3

No, you crazy little butt-munchers! You get "GHOST PERV!" You know, that weird web-comic Aramet and Fio started like a zillion years ago that just kind of fizzled off without going anywhere? No? Well anyway, the buzz is – IT’S BACK! And stupider than ever! That’s right kiddies, and you can just go right ahead and read the first episode by clicking this nifty little link here:

So yeah, "Ghost Perv" is back (in case you didn’t know already). And here's your chance to appear in the comic as an extra. As in a movie, your character will only be seen for a split second (probably in a single panel), doing something mundane, like looking at cans of tuna or the like. I know, not very inspiring, huh? But if you WOULD get a kick out of seeing that, here’s the thing to do! Just make up a funny Custom tag for us to use for our "Ghost Perv" submissions (check out the existing episodes to see what's been done already), and if we like it and use it for an episode, you’ll get you’re moment of glory(?)!
You can post it right here in my journal (or Ara’s), and be sure to leave a link to a picture reference of the character you’d like drawn. In doing so you give us permission to draw your character into whatever situation we deem appropriate (don’t worry, it won’t be anything yucky). You can submit as many as you like, but we’ll probably only use our favourite 5 or so (if we get ANY).
So that’s all for now, fans (do we even have any?) – take care of your fine selves, and stay sharp.

Digital Icon Commissions (little furry heads in boxes)
General | Posted 18 years agoTo get some extra practice using my tablet I’m opening up icon commissions. I’m charging $12 US each, via Paypal (no credit card payments).
For that you’ll get the full sized digital image at 400x400 (created at 300dpi resolution) and an avatar sized version shrunk down to 72dpi.
The icon should be of one character only, and may depict head and shoulders or just a face. Remember, the closer cropped, the better details will show up on your avatar.
I’ll need a link to a good reference picture or a really thorough description. And one key word to describe the mood you want depicted: ie. cute/crazy/angry/sleepy/devious.
If you’re keen go ahead and hit me with a personal message. Please be very clear on all the necessary details when you note me though, because sending PMs back and fourth eats up time I could be using to draw your icon. ^_^’
I won’t limit spots, but I’ll post again if I think I’ve got more than I can handle.

LOVE CONFESSION (tell someone how you feel)
General | Posted 18 years agoThe infamous date that I have both adored and hated at different times in my life is fast approaching. St. Valentine’s Day! And because I’m a sucker for romance and also because I’ve been reading a lot of “Boys Be” manga, I wanted to do something special for the occasion.
I’m sure there are plenty of you out there who are quietly dreading the day – or at least feeling decidedly cynical about it because you don’t have anyone special to share it with. I realize that some people are quite happy being single, but I was always one of those girls in high school who wished to God that someone would give her flowers or chocolates or even a goofy card with lovesick puppies on it.
Unfortunately I never received any such spontaneous surprises, and in the end I’ve always been reduced to pursing the men I fancy (often against their will). Let me tell you, it’s pretty scary screwing up the courage and telling somebody you like them! Perhaps the most effective love confession I ever made was to a boy in my university course. I drew him a picture of myself giving him my number! =^0^=
Now what is the point of all this I hear you groan? Well I have noticed that a lot of happy couples have been forming on this very site – one being my good friend Aramet and his lovely lady Mandy. I myself had a short-lived but utterly blissful online love affair with a fellow FA member some time ago, so I know firsthand how effective this community can be at bringing people together. So for Valentine’s day I’d like to do something for you lovesick FA-ites. If you have feelings you want to confess for another artist/member but aren’t so great at arting or wording your emotions, I want to draw your LOVE CONFESSION! I’ll draw up to 5 romantic tributes and post them on Valentine’s day and then I’ll link your crush to it so they’ll know just how you feel!
Now let me clarify conditions for this. You can send me a PM if you’d like me to draw a tribute to your feelings for another FA member, BUT
* You should BOTH be single. (ie. if I check their page and it says they’re happily married then I’m not going there)
* Again, you must BOTH be FA members, with accounts existing for a least a week prior to the posting date of this journal
* I need links to images of your crush’s fursona so that I can draw them
* I won’t draw them if they explicitly say on their page not to portray their character without permission
* Your own fursona may or may not appear in the tribute, but I’ll need reference links for that too, just in case
* I will not take instruction on what and how to draw– I’ll be using creative license to create the tribute in the way I think most effective
* The tributes will be in media decided by me and may therefore be black and white or color
* I will post all tributes on the 15th of February (I’m in Australia, so that should make it the 14th for most of you)
* If your crush sees the tribute dedicated to them and does not approve of it I will remove it immediately
* This is NOT an offer for existing couples to tell one another how much they adore their partners
* This is NOT a way to scam free art, so only apply if you have a genuine crush that you want to make public
Right! Now that that’s out of the way, here’s the info you should include if sending me an application message:

* Your crush’s username
* Links to images of their and your fursona
* Your message to them (this will be incorporated into the tribute, so try not to make it extremely long or there won’t be room for the image)
So as I said, I’m aiming to do 5 tributes. I’m pretty busy with domestic duties as always, but I think this will be worth squeezing in. I’m not even sure anyone will be interested in doing it, but we’ll see come Valentine’s day I guess. I won’t be confirming who applies for/gets the tributes, so all will be revealed on the day. I will let you know when the spots are taken though, so check back for updates if you’re thinking of applying. =^0^=
Please bear in mind that I’m no cupid – the fact that I’m drawing a tribute on your behalf doesn’t mean your crush is going to instantly fall for you or anything like that, so you are taking a calculated risk. Just remember, whether rejection or requited feelings ensue, at least they’ll know what’s in your heart.

Christmas again already?

First and foremost - MERRY CHRISTMAS! I hope everyone is feeling jolly this festive season. I know I am. =^0^=
I can't even begin to say how sorry I am for not replying to the lovely shouts and comments so many of you have left me. I've also failed to thank people who've been kind enough to add me to their watch lists, so to all of you - THANKS! I honestly haven't been online enough to reply because I'm just so busy these days.
I've had some family crises to attend to recently, and yes, I am busy playing mum, but that's all I'll say on that score. I don't mean to seem rude, but I'd like to keep my private life private right now. I've wanted to update my page and say hi to everyone, but FA is frighteningly addictive, and once I sit down to my computer there's a danger that I could be on it for hours (that I don't have to spare)! ^-^'
Obviously my hectic schedule has meant zero art being posted on my page. What time I've actually had to fit in drawing has been devoted to other personal projects. I feel like I've spread myself a little thin in 2007, but I still produced some of what I feel is my best work. I'm really grateful to everyone who's left me comments since I started here. General | Posted 18 years ago‘Tis the season to be phlegmy (in my region at least), and I have not been spared. After a brief burst of artistic inspiration and a few new posts here on FA, the flu struck me down.
It’s not until you’re sick that you really appreciate being well. Things I usually take for granted, like being able to breathe oxygen through my nostrils and tasting what I eat are realized to be precious during times of excess mucus. Thankfully I am on the mend, and can now sit down with a pencil and paper without dripping fluids all over my arts. ^_^
While I was down and out I got my paws on the acclaimed Korean monster movie, “The Host”. I’ve taken a while to figure out whether or not I actually like it, but I think the verdict is positive. It’s so different to anything I’ve watched before, and I did enjoy a delightful (though undeserved) thrill of pride in seeing a film from my own origins so well executed. I hear tell that Hollywood is set to rehash it for a Westernized version sometime soon, though I can’t imagine why. The creature effects are brilliant as they are in the original, and reading subtitles isn’t really that painful, is it?
In other news, I have broadband! Shock horror – I can actually be bothered watching youtube clips now. The excitement levels are sky high... and obviously I don’t have anything much to write about, so I’ll just quit while I’m ahead.

Cleaning out
General | Posted 18 years agoThis is a heads up for those of you who still watch and are interested in my work here on FA. I’m sorry not to have updated in a while, but I’ve been busy with other projects.
I’ve come to a final decision about my presence here. It’s been bothering me for a while, especially while I’ve been pursuing illustration work in other areas. You may remember a while back I was debating whether or not to leave, but what I intend to do now instead is clean out my gallery. I’ve never been a fan of my own erotica and I just don’t like the idea of people knowing I drew it. I’m not even comfortable with some of the images myself – some I’m heartily ashamed of.
I have nothing against yiff. Some of my best friends love it, draw it, and live on it, but at this stage in my life I’ve just kind of had my fill of it. There’s so much of it out there, and most of it is by super talented artists who really celebrate sexually charged artwork – who enjoy it. The meager offerings of an embarrassed cheesecake specialist shouldn’t be mourned too much, so I’ll leave it to folks who know what they’re doing!
I owe apologies to those who added me to their watch list because of one of my racier pieces, but if you’re keeping an eye on me for the penetration factor, the spread-shots or the brief kinky dabblings I experimented with last year, I’m afraid my future posts are going to seem mighty bland to you. Of course I completely understand (and even endorse) you un-watching me if this is the case.
In a nutshell, I’m giving up on drawing porn. I’ll be removing any such pictures from my gallery, so if there are any images that you’re particularly fond of and want to save copies of you’d better do it quickly. I’ll be doing a final clean-out this week.
“What’s left to look at?” I hear you ask. Well you may or may not be happy to know that I’ll be keeping most of my cheesecake art around. Tasteful nudes are staying for now, but I may remove a few I’m not happy with along the way. And yes, I suppose more g-rated material and lingerie pin-ups will be in order. In any case I may not have time to post a great deal anyway, as I’m expecting life to get a bit crazy in about.. *checks calendar* ..9 weeks. ^_^’
Sorry if my decision has upset anyone. This is not about censorship or me taking offense to erotica itself. The reason I’m doing this is to be comfortable with myself, and to be proud of what I do and show to others. This is for me, and I hope you’ll understand that.

For some I realize that breasts are of little interest, but for those of you who do appreciate these anatomical assets, ask yourself - what would a good cheesecake picture be without those lovely, twin orbs teasingly suspended on a girl’s chest?

The Breast Cancer site is having trouble getting enough people to click on their site daily to meet their quota of donating at least one free mammogram a day to an underprivileged woman. It takes less than a minute to go to their site and click on "donating a mammogram" for free (pink window in the middle).
This doesn't cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate mammogram in exchange for advertising.
It really is as quick and painless as wiping your bum! I’m sure most of you know and hold dear someone of the female gender, so even if their boobs aren’t of special interest to you, just think of how sad they’d be without them.

Commissions anyone?
General | Posted 19 years agoI’ve been asked about commissions a number of times by various FA members, but most find my fees off-putting. It’s true that my usual prices are expensive, and I don’t charge this much because I think I’m any better than anyone else. I set my prices based on how much I’m willing to do custom drawings for. After all, my usual inclination is just to draw whatever takes my fancy. For this reason I usually only offer commissions on Furbid, but I’ve decided to make my services more accessible to folks here.
I’m currently offering black and white single character portraits. This does not include background or extensive props. Your character may be clothed or naked and you may specify a particular pose. Here is an example:

If you are only interested in purchasing a digital copy you may do so for $20 USD. I’ll send you the file at up to 300 dpi once work is completed.
For the original the price is $35 USD (including postage). The art will be drawn on acid-free cartridge paper (approximately 8” by 11”) and mailed to you between two pieces of cardboard in an A4 sized envelope.
I’m offering 3 slots at the moment, so it’s first in best dressed. I only accept Paypal and will require payment within 3 days of the commission request so I can begin work as soon as possible. When you PM me, please provide the following details:
* character name and vital statistics (ie. age/species/occupation etc)
* a brief description of how you would like them to be portrayed. For example, are they meant to be menacing? Cool? Cute? Crazy?
* links to any existing pictorial references if they are available
NB. I am unable to draw a character if it is not your creative property (unless you have permission from the artist who owns it and can show me that you do).

General | Posted 19 years agoYou may have noticed that I’ve been gone for some time. A lot longer than I intended in fact, and for a while I wondered if I might ever come back. I’m still not entirely sure what I’m planning to do yet.
I want to say thank you to those of you who were concerned while was away. I’m sorry for worrying you. Be assured that I am alright, just not quite as energetic as I used to be. I am doubtful that I’ll be spending as much time online in the future, and while I intend to post a bit now, you may see me absent again later down the track.
My warmest wishes to the friends I’ve missed here. So much has happened recently and I feel terrible for neglecting you, but I’m looking forward to catching up again when we all get the time.

The ghost of Christmas perv

As you may have seen (especially if you watch my crazy-awesome-talented buddy Ara), we have started our own web-comic. We�re posting it on his site:

We�re also uploading it to FA so you guys can keep an eye on it easily, but I encourage you all to go check out dokugumo and see the other cool stuff that�s happening. Ara�s just created a shop link offering a selection of �Perv necessities�. There are also a number of awesome artist galleries, and of course the infamous �Kemono Nightmare�. =^x^=
So! You may be wondering how the concept for our supernatural story manifested? As is usually the case, Ara and I came up with this oddball idea out of nowhere one night on MSN. I was saying that he needed to take better care of himself (he�s a cat that can out-drink a fish). I worry a bit because I�d hate to lose him, but he assured me he�ll be around for a long time yet - after all in the afterlife we couldn�t hang out! And then we simultaneously theorized that if he died he�d probably come back as a pervert ghost, spying on me in the shower and stealing panties.
Then I said, �We should make a story about that� �ghost perv�
Ara: hahah that would be cool! >w< would make an awesome comic strip for sure! XD
Me: We should do a web comic! ^0^
And so �Ghost Perv� was born, with Ara taking the lead and drawing his early demise � a tragic death leaving a very nasty aftertaste. The plan (and let�s hope we can follow through on it) is to draw the story in episodes, each consisting of about 5 or so pages. Ara draws one episode, then I take the next, and so on and so fourth. The ball is presently in my court, so keep an eye on my gallery for the latest installments. To keep the look consistent we wanted to digitally color all of it, and Ara�s given me some great lessons on Photoshop. Seeing as I�m still working with a mouse (need to purchase a tablet) he offered to color my episode for me this time, so when you look at it and go �oooh, pretty�, it�ll be largely thanks to his amazing coolness and skill. ^-^
Check out his first episode anyway � if your sense of humor is anywhere near as silly as ours, I�m sure you�ll get a laugh.

Art wise, I�m sorry for the present drought, but I think my last submission was a no-show for my watchers. General | Posted 19 years agoIt's Friday night and I'm dog-tired, but dammit, this kitty wants to dance!
Today out of nowhere I started feeling frisky, and now I'm in a fun and flirtatious mood. I want to drink a little, groove a lot and totally unwind. Only problem is: finding suitable company. I have some girl friends visiting tonight, but they say they want a quiet evening in playing Scrabble. Apparently one is too poor to go out anyway. *groans* I'm just so frustrated right now - I feel like I could POP! >_<
You know how sometimes you have all this nervous energy packed away under a week's worth of fatigue, and if you could just put yourself in the right situation it'd all translate into a really good time? *rethinks her statement* Hmmm, that sounded more suspicious than it was meant to. @_@'
Anyway, we'll see if I can coax my buddies into stepping out for an hour or two. *practices her puppy-dog eyes* (not so easy for a kitty) =^x^'=

I'm sure I used to have an immune system. *scratches head* I suppose I am busier these days. The convention was stressful and hectic and I wasn't exactly rugged-up for the cold weather either. =^-^'=
Oh well, hopefully my tonsils will deflate soon and I'll get back to feeling half-way healthy. In the meantime I've been drawing like MAD. I owe pictures to Sanura_Mosi for a really neato coloring book project she's organizing. It's meant to be yiffy, but my creative libido seems to be somewhat uninspired. Instead of hot sweaty sex I feel like drawing... well.... mushy stuff. *hangs head* Hopelessly soppy, foolishly sentimental, utterly unrealistic romantic poop. Why? Because that's what I want dammit! >_<'

General | Posted 19 years agoIn two days I'm headed to Melbourne for its annual anime convention "Manifest", and I'll be holidaying there for a week. I'm trying to look forward to it but I've got so much to do before I leave that it's hard not to stress out. I'm also feeling somewhat guilty about the sinfully oily pasta salad I just chowed down on - that's not gonna help me squeeze into my ultra clingy nurse's costume on the weekend. *licks her lips* Oh well, it was damn tasty!

Work has been hectic, and we just seem to keep getting busier. I'm going to miss the customers who buy their lunch everyday - especially the cute bespectacled businessman who turns me into a giddy idiot whenever he speaks to me. @_@'
Of course I'll be pining for FA too. I've decided that to compensate for my upcoming abscence I'll post some more of my old art. I've only got stuff that I'm not 100% happy with left (hence the fact it's not up already), so I'll stick it in scraps. Nothing fancy, but at least it's something for my watchers to peek at while I'm gone. =^0^=

Kindness
General | Posted 19 years agoMe again! Nope, not dead � just MIA due to lots of work and a short bout of gastric flu. On the upside, the male nurse who hooked me up to a saline drip at the hospital was absolutely beautiful. If I hadn�t been so delirious I�m sure I would have fallen in love with him � he was so kind and attentive!
I�ve been thinking a lot lately about what it means to receive unexpected kindness from people who don�t owe it to you. I remember some years back when a thoughtful stranger found me intoxicated and bewildered in the mall one night after I�d had a fight with my boyfriend of the time. The young man came and asked if I was okay, let me cry against him, then led me safely back to my friends. He was so gentle, and despite my obvious vulnerability he never tried to take advantage.
I�d love to find him, and say all of the words I was too drunk to speak that night. What he did for me is something I�ll remember forever, though I doubt I�ll ever see him again. I wonder if he realizes that to me, he was as good as an angel? Just like the nurse who tried to soothe me while I was ill, even with so many other patients requiring attention.
Umm.. *blushes* Excuse my babbling. That�s just what�s been on my mind lately. I�m taking a bit of time off work to recover so I�ve also been busy drawing. I hope to have some new stuff up soon. =^_^=

Currently getting extra hours at work because we are under-staffed, AND the anime convention is this weekend. I am totally unprepared, with a costume that doesn�t quite fit � phlegm, shorting thought processes. Bzzzt-click! Kiriban winners � your requests have been received.. Working class Catgirl
General | Posted 19 years agoI�ve officially started my new job at a healthy snack bar in the city. We serve freshly made wraps, rolls, salads and yoghurts, along with some yummy treats like Portuguese tarts. Mmm!
I�d forgotten how much I enjoy serving customers and working as part of a team. Getting paid is quite nice too, but I like it so much I�d almost do it for free (not that I�d tell my boss that). This is the first time I�ve worked for a small business owner. Pretty much all of my previous jobs were in chain stores. I found it so hard to be enthusiastic about working for a nameless, faceless somebody whose identity (as far as I knew) was just a company name. Not that I begrudge the creators of these places or their success. I just find that I put more into my job when I can actually see my boss running around like a chicken with its head cut off in the kitchen, trying to rescue a burning focaccia or arguing with the packaging salesman because he�s gotten her order wrong AGAIN. ^-^�
This is only my second week there, so it�s probable that the novelty of my workplace will wear off within a month or so. Still, I think can safely say that this is the nicest job I�ve ever had, and right now I�m quite a cheerful kitty.

Long-distance Lovers

Does internet love really work?
One of my best friends in high school met a guy in Canada when she was fifteen. She talked to him everyday, right through until a couple of years ago when he actually came to Australia and met her. It was like some kind of storybook romance � he was actually nice and normal, and SHE actually liked him (she�s VERY fussy). -_-
Alas, just last night she spoke to me on IM complaining that their romance was ending. She�s done this on several occasions for various reasons. This time because prior to him meeting her, he had been to a strip club for a friend�s birthday. At this I rolled my eyes. But wait, isn�t the stress of distance, of time difference and the absence of the person one longs to be with enough to make the cracks show over even something so miniscule?
Then there�s the issue of truth. She�s had the benefit of seeing her partner in person before he returned to his life overseas. Having not met your online lover, how do you know that they�re telling the truth? Are they as old as they say? Do they look like their picture � or is it five years old, or of somebody else? Can you fall in love with words alone?
I know people who�ve found partners this way, and I see nothing wrong with it - if it works for them. I�ve made some close friendships via the internet, and I consider every one of them as real and as special as if I�d met them in person. What I wonder is, does romance on the net lead more often to heartache than happiness?
If anyone has a story to share, I�d be very interested to hear it. =^_^=

Addicted to love stories

What other genre can turn a hooker into a princess, a loser into a lover, and an evil bastard into a saint by virtue of his affection for a good woman? Though the love story in its many forms has set me up for a fall in the face of a harsh, unsentimental reality, I�m addicted to this drug of the soft-hearted (and headed). I can�t get enough!
From sober period courtships like �Pride and Prejudice�, to laughable modern day fairytales like �Pretty Woman� � the love story has nourished me with a mushy warmth that has outlasted every romantic disappointment I�ve confronted.
So hurrah for this Hollywood bullshit! Give me more � I can take it. I want music that sighs and whispers, then explodes when our leading man sticks his tongue down the heroine�s silken throat. I need to hear them tell each other breathlessly how much they need each other � that they live for each other, and I want it to be convincing, dammit! I didn�t pay good money to rent a movie that�s as believable as �Days of our Lives�.
Yesterday I borrowed a little gem - the latest offering of sugar-coated poison, which I spirited away and watched while nursing my box of Kleenex. �Just like Heaven� was everything I hoped it would be. Sappy, predictable, clich�, and full of those cornball lines that little girls live in the hope of hearing one day. GOLD! Pure (fool�s) gold. Reese Witherspoon � now there�s a good reason for a jaded young porn artist to turn lesbian. And wouldn�t that make a good movie?
Any other romantic suckers hiding out there? What�s your favorite love story? =^0^=
