I HAVE TO WRITE THIS REALLY QUICKLY BEFORE THE DOWNTIME AAAA
General | Posted 3 weeks agoIt's not as urgent as I'm making it out to be, but also I want to get this done super early because I don't know how long this downtime will be.
This month (March) I did drawing for 20 of 31 days, and posted on 10.
This month (April) I did drawing for 0 of 30 days, and posted on 0.
3 out of 4 isn't bad
I was unable to order a drawing tablet because of table difficulties, but I was barely able to meet my self imposed quota for posting last month if you don't count scraps (I don't)
I have no Idea if I'll be able to post 10 times this month, because my life has taken a turn for the fast and wacky. I have barely been able to sit down and do drawings. Once I have less furniture related issues, I think that everything will return to normal (I hope).
GOALS FOR THIS MONTH:
1. Build a table
2. Get a Drawing Tablet
3. Post on 10 of 30 days
4. Draw on 14 of 30 days
5. Watch at least 1 art video a day
Hopefully I can meet all of these before the month's end.
Dream diary is going well. I need to improve my quality of sleep though, as I haven't been dreaming as much recently.
Writing is indeed a thing a should do that I haven't been doing for any good reason. I can do it, but I don't for some reason I can't figure out. Hopefully I can break through this weird paralysis.
My bad leg is almost a normal leg. I can get up and down from the floor on my own power, but I can't crouch, and my kneecap sometimes wants to leave the place where it should go.
The table will arrive so soon, as long as it isn't delayed.
NUMBERS!!!

Job Haver Has a Job (But Is This Good?)
General | Posted 2 months agooooooouuuuuuuuuuggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
I love money, but I hate pain. (very controversial statement)
Last month (February) I did drawing on 17 of 28 days, and posted on 13.
This month (March) I did drawing for 1 of 31 days, and posted on 0.
I am a job haver!
On one hand, this is great news because I can now purchase art things. I get paid a week from now, and will absolutely be putting some of that toward a drawing tablet.
On the other hand, I am using my most productive hours to do work, and not drawing stuff. Also, I come home very tired and in pain, which is not an ideal state to draw in.
We will see how this affects my attempts at drawing.
Turns out that setting your expectations super high and failing to meet them is bad for motivation. The obvious solution to this is to not put your expectations into the stratosphere, and make them much simpler and specific.
So, the new and better plan is:
1. Post on 10 of 31 days
2. Draw on 15 of 31 days
3. Order a drawing tablet this month
4. Watch at least 1 art video on the days that I draw
Still writing the dream diary.
I really need to learn how to write properly at some point, because I keep having story ideas swimming inside of my head, especially during breaks.
Leg is getting better, and I probably won't need a leg brace for much longer. I hope that my legs will give me mercy from now on, and that I won't rip any more tendons.

A Totally Normal Month Where I Will NOT Explode!
General | Posted 3 months agoPlease-Please-Please-Please-Please.
Everything will be so good and normal. Nothing will go wrong AT ALL!
Last month, I did drawing for 20 of 31 days, and I uploaded on 17.
This month, I did drawing for 2 of 28 days, and I uploaded on 2.
Last month did not go as planned! (Mostly due to the leg)
Now that I’ve mostly learned how to walk again, and more comfortable with drawing in different places; I hope things will go more smoothly.
The big plan for this month is to:
1. Draw and post on 24 of the 28 days in February.
2. READ AND WATCH EVEN MORE STUFF.
3. Figure out how perspective works.
4. Draw with more variety.
I need to do it! Working in isolation is not good for improvement!
I think what's preventing me from doing it is because I'm worried about doing it wrong. I'm also just a very nervous and eccentric person in general, and I really don't want to come off as weird or a creep. I know that there are probably much weirder people on this site, but I still can't shake the feeling that I'm an "other", especially compared to members who have been around for much longer than I have.
It's unlikely for anything bad to come from talking to others, so I'll have to keep reminding myself of that. Hopefully I will have sent at lease one note before this month is over.
Dream diary is still being written. I will probably post it at the end of the year.
Still going to be drawing with a mouse for quite a while. Unfortunately, having a ripped tendon has not helped me with the whole "getting a working stylus" thing.
Writing is very challenging, but I will see if I can make at least one story related thing this month. (fingers crossed!)

Technical Difficulties (but also we're doing it anyway)
General | Posted 4 months agoStill alive! and in other news...
Drawing (Almost) Every Day.
What was going to be DED is now DAED because of both my poor planning skills and my New-Year's schedule being unexpectedly packed. I will be drawing as much as I possibly can for the majority of 2026 unless I become physically unable to. Stay tuned to see how that goes! (Hopefully it will go well.)
Should hopefully be posted very soon, depends on when I get the thumbnail ready. 2026 dream diary is also in the making, although it only consists of one entry.
I might do it! I need to learn how to improve my sentence flow and also learn how punctuation works.
I'm going to be drawing with a mouse for a while because my tablet is old and hates new styluses apparently. I will not let this stop me, but also I feel a little dumb for getting the wrong stylus. Once I find one that works, expect changes of the good variety.
Practice! Practice! Practice!
Not only should I draw every day, but also I need to learn how to draw. There are so many sub-skills required to make "good" art and I don't even know half of them. I'm not expecting to become a master in a month or even a year, but to see my skills improve, I'll need to practice and learn A LOT.

Merry Fishmas and a Happy New Plan
General | Posted 5 months agoWe are working on it, we are definitely working on it, we are SO working on it very much.
I am much better at drawing straight lines in directions other than horizontally, and I’m making a BIG focus on building stability and control in my hand. I’ve also been drawing some insects to varying degrees of success. My favorites to draw have been lacewings and cockroaches, but that doesn't mean that they aren’t challenging to draw.
On the docket for this month:
1. Aquire a stylus for drawing digitally. (It will help a LOT)
2. Draw more than just insects. (Focus on inanimate and mammals)
3. WATCH/READ MORE MATERIAL TO LEARN GOOD!!!!
Doing a dream diary has been really fun, and I’ll definitely be doing more in the future. I think I'll post the one for this year as a submission on January, and then do further posts every year or half year, just to avoid clogging search feeds.
I have plans for next year, mostly consisting of 2 kinda developed ones. One of these is very difficult, and the other is also difficult, but slightly less so:
1. Posting a drawing every day for the entirety of 2026
Self explanatory. Ever since Silksong released I haven’t been able to waste more than hour of my time writing a YouTube comment on DSN every day. The obvious solution is to fill in that time with some other thing, and methinks drawing will fit into that gap quite nicely.
THIS WOULD BE INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT TO DO, but also very rewarding. It would help to keep me motivated, and I would learn a lot hopefully.
2. START WRITING YOUR IDEAS ONTO PAPER
Every weekday for about a half hour, I’ll lay down in bed and let my mind wander. Not only does the silence help to clear my mind, but it also helps my hyperactive consciousness soup form stories, characters, and ideas. It’s so fun to toy around with ideas when you’re in the middle ground between asleep and awake.
What I really need to do already is just write down these ideas and send them out into the aether. I need to use my writing abilities to write things other than journals. If I start writing stories, that’ll be another outlet to vent my ideas out into the world.
Next journal will be posted on the same day next month. It will have much less text hopefully.

It's my birthday to-day (+ some reflection)
General | Posted 6 months agoIt's my birthday day. It's my birthday day to-day! (Hoo-ray!)
November 3rd is my birthday day, and now I'm 20 to-day!
I've had quite the eventful weekend moving and building furniture. It was mostly for family, but I'm one bookshelf richer (after a bit of assembly), and I've been making the most of the added space (I'm sure my jumble of books appreciate it). Unfortunately, moving refrigerators and building a book house is a recipe to make my spine hate me, so that hasn't been fun, but overall it's been positive.
In terms of drawing, progress has been slower than I'd like, but I'm progressing nonetheless. I'm thinking of making monthly updates on my learning and doing of art, mostly just for myself so I can stay motivated, and also it's something to do that's more complex than the fish. I might also do a monthly dream diary alongside that, because I've been having dreams more often now than I ever have in my life.
For this month, I'm going to really try and jump out of my comfort zone in terms of drawing things. I keep defaulting to basic shapes, 3D solids, and lines because that's what I'm most comfortable with, but its not really helping me improve in terms of anything other than linework and basic spatial reasoning. I just need to remember that nobody is really watching me or my mistakes, and that no matter how bad anything looks in the moment, it will improve over time.
(Edit: This is relatively small compared to the rest of the stuff but I found a legitimate cart of Drawn to Life (DS) WITH A CASE AND MANUAL. It's a birthday miracle)
That's all I've got on my mind right now honestly, remember to write another one of these on December 3rd and also to keep a dream diary in the meantime.
