Another Update
General | Posted 5 years agoHey all, figured I'd give out another update since it's been a while.
Basically, I've very recently gotten a promising-looking job (as in, good money), which is good.
The downside? It's very physical work, and with a long commute to boot. Which means that I more or less have fuck-all time to myself anymore.
What does that mean for art and all that? Well, my daily draws are gonna take a hit. I don't have time in the mornings to do anything (for the moment), and by the time I get home I'm usually so exhausted that all I want to do is have dinner and go to bed, if I don't have the urge to draw that day.
At the moment I'm looking into repurposing an old tablet of mine so that I can draw during my commutes to and from work, but we're still gonna have to see for that one.
So nowadays, assuming that the shifts I've had rostered so far are any indication, I'm only gonna get a few days a week to do anything I would have done otherwise. This includes cleaning, washing, other household chores, and of course, drawing.
I'm still aware that I have commission in waiting. I haven't forgotten. The job searching was messing with me (it's one thing to accept one denial, another to accept thirty in a row...), and now I may not have all that much time to work on them anymore.
But we'll see how my rosters go.

Right, well, basically, since the end of august/start of september or so of 2020, I kinda got a little burnt out on art stuff. Haven't done many comms since then (save for the one that was mostly completed at the time), and between then and Jan there was a fairly big break in my art output.
Remember that whole "art as a career" thing? Yeah, that didn't exactly work out. The gist of that is that I didn't have the right mindset and a few IRL things that happened didn't help. Since around the same time, I've been searching for a "real" job again. Not much luck so far with that.
Since jan 1, I've been doing daily draws. Those of you in my discord server will have seen them. They've definitely helped with the art thing. That being said, there's still a number of commissions that are still waiting that, admittedly, I haven't even started yet.
I'll be reaching out to waiting commissioners and asking about them on an individual basis, since it's been so long since everyone signed up. For now, I'll be pacing myself and trying to not get burned out on comms again.

You know, looking back, I didn't really think that I'd ever get this popular when I first started. Hell, I didn't even think that this is what I would be doing with my life. But hey, here we are. I'm extremely thankful to all of you who cared enough about my work to not only view it, but to actually want to see more. It really does mean a lot to see so many people like what I do!
Here's to the next 500!
You know, looking back, I didn't really think that I'd ever get this popular when I first started. Hell, I didn't even think that this is what I would be doing with my life. But hey, here we are. But, here's a breakdown of what I will and won't draw.

I'm sure that you guys have noticed by now that I've done a handful of pieces, all of which have the prefix [COM] on them.
As I've said in their respective descriptions, they've been commissions for various people. At the moment, they've just been people I've had communication with through Discord.
So I'm sure you guys have been wondering, "how can I get my hands on one of these?"
At the time of posting this, you can't, really. But that's going to be changing very soon. As in, a little over a month soon.
Y'see, I've been working this dead-end retail job, and I've decided that I can't deal with that an longer. I've decided that, as soon as the Christmas rush is over, I'll be handing them my two weeks' notice, and resigning.
I'm taking that leap of faith, diving into the unknown, and trying my hand at making a living off of art.
As a result of this, some time over the coming weeks, you'll see me posting some stuff that is related to getting myself set up for commissions. I just to warn that they do not mean that I am open at the moment; there will be an announcement made properly when I do open.
I've already put some some partial commission information on my Derpibooru profile, but I plan on having more detailed information here on FA.
Please be aware though, that there may be some price tweaks between the time of posting and when I actually open, although they won't be extreme.
Of course, I already know that I'm not going to be making enough from all this at the moment to meet the same amount that I am making now, but I am sure that with time, I'll come to not only meet, but exceed that amount.
Does that mean that I'm suddenly going to have a Patreon and start pay-walling all sorts of things that I don't have pay-walled at the moment? Definitely not. I may set it up to be a $1/$2 tip jar, like Ko-FI and the new Shinies system, but for the moment I don't plan on doing anything with Patreon.
With all this newfound free time, I plan on doing streams more often, and fewer streams limited to just Discord (Which you should totally join if you haven't already!).
As for why I'm not opening them now? Simple! I'm dedicating December to pushing out an update for that silly old mod I advertised on here a while ago. I also want to work on this and all the things I have planned for it when I'm not drawing.
In the meantime, I hope everyone has a wonderful Chrys-mas~
