I haven't used FA as a gallery to display my commissions in about a year. Partly because I'm much active elsewhere, party because I want that picture Orlando did of me covered in pie to remain at the forefront of my gallery forever because I adore it.
But I have gotten a bunch of new watchers lately despite not much content, so- hello to all of you! My name is Duino. I'm a Mandarin Duck who enjoys cartoon violence a whole lot! If you liked my gallery and character enough to watch me, I'm extremely flattered! There's a lot more commissions and such on my Twitter (@MainMandarin) if that piques your fancy. And I'm almost always available to chat, so never hesitate to drop me a line!

But I do want to warn people that there isn't really a ton to see around here anymore, aside from some update and misc journals like this. I'm by no means leaving FA (I check this place far too often daily to do that) but invite you to come hang out in a hip spot I actually frequent.

Some Updates!
Posted 10 years agoI've been out of school for two months now, and have successfully climbed out of the MMO hole. Final Fantasy 14 is an amazing game, but the level cap/endgame content doesn't excite me nearly as much as pure leveling. So, now with a whole mess of free time, what else have I been up to?
What I've been playing: Checking out the new Terraria patch with
Aurafox and 
Koebi. Expert mode is a challenge, but we'll get you yet Skeleton! Also getting in to some mad causal Heroes of the Storm fun with a slew of guys, and playing some DnD with 
hyenahyena, 
nickwolf, and 
jankcoon as well. Both are pretty fun, and way outside my usual genres of play. Wahoo!
What I've been doing: Aside from a whole lot of nothing, trying to get some post-grad employment going. Freelance work hasn't worked out well for me. I do, however, have an interview on Monday for a position in my field at a local place, so that's awesome!
Future Con Plans: My cons at this moment include MFF, FurPoc, and ANE. I'm still trying to iron out MFF room plans, but the advantage of the other two being so local makes them crazy easy to plan for. Hope to see you folks at them!

Posted 10 years agoI want to apologize if I've been difficult to reach or hold a conversation with lately. Since school ended I've fallen deep into the MMORPG hole. Like, really deep. Over a hundred hours deep. Don't blame me, blame Final Fantasy 14 for being awesome. (also I've never gotten into an MMO before, I've earned this.)
But! Slowly but surely I'm starting to get into a job hunt of sorts. I've started looking at freelance websites for work and brainstorming where I want to go full-time. It's intimidating, but I'm doing my best. Other than that, it's been nothing but FF14 and Heroes of the Storm with buddies to fill my days. I haven't even commissioned any art in nearly a month and that's crazy weird. These habits are in dire need of being broken- SOMEONE has to drop anvils on all you idiots, right?
How about you guys? What have y'all be up to?

Been thinking about this one a lot lately.
I read this poem for the first time about two years ago now, and it's been an important part of how I look at life ever since. As people, we are always growing, always experiencing, and always learning- our circles are widening every day. Even if we don't know who we are or where we're going or what we're gonna do when we get there, every day is a chance to grow somehow. Time isn't wasted. It's spent how you want to spend it.
I'm graduating from college in two weeks and fully realized adult life has me nervous. But I've met some of the most incredible people here and want to keep them around forever, and meet more along the way. I know FA is pretty much the worst place for a sentimental journal (especially since a bunch of you are ITCHING to make an inflation joke somewhere) but it's the best platform I've got. Thank you all for letting me be me, and I hope I can keep you all entertained. :)

Posted 10 years agoThat's right! Better than Christmas, better than Easter, better than Bastille Day, it's Pie Day! March 14th, the holiday nerds made up to snicker at in math classes that has since be co-opted by me to talk about my favorite gag in the world.
So snuggle up to those loved ones and shove each others' heads into desserts. It's the kind of day to celebrate slapstick! Throw food at someone you care about!

What I look like- Six feet tall, ginger, probably looking at my phone writing a aggravated Tweet about how dumb this entire ordeal is.
When I'll be there- Friday evening to Monday morning, if all transportation works out!
What I'll be doing- I have no idea! I have very few plans set in stone so don't hesitate to recommend something.
Can we hang out?- You bet! Like I said, I have plenty of free time, so if you see me and want my autograph don't hesitate to come ask for it. But, if you want to plan something or make sure you find me for whatever reason, you can shoot me a note and we can work out a time!
Can I buy you a drink/get a drink with you?- Sure! (best to confirm that I am old enough to legally drink.) I'm kind of a lightweight so please keep an eye on me, and understand that it is possible for someone my size to be tipsy after two beers.

Back from MFF!/CHRISTMAS E-CARDS 2014, NERDS
Posted 11 years agoI got in from my trip yesterday evening, back to school that night, and thanks to pouring rain and a rough day at work entirely back to reality far too soon. But MFF was absolutely amazing. I've never been much of a party-oriented person, but I spent the whole time with a bunch of close friends and got to meet tons and tons of folks, both those I knew and those I didn't. If you were looking for me and we didn't get a chance to hang out, I'm really sorry! It was a busy and hectic weekend and I can't wait to do it again next year. There are far too many specifics to go in to, but as a few highlights for context:
-Reunited with the sandwich I'd left at Koebi and Kingdom's in September
-Slam-dunked sandwich in the trash heroically
-Achieved supreme victory in Smash except against Howee because God DAMMIT Howee
-Got pied by a couple close friends while doing JoJo poses
-Told everyone how important Duck Hunt is
-Was drunk during our Skype Call IRL party to (I'm told) everyone's delight (especially mine)
-Listened to Koebi and Ghimno be YouTube Poops in real life over drinks
-Got some fantastic art in my brand-new sketchbook
-Made fun of tons of nerds to their face
The list goes on, but dude, what a time. There's far too many people to thank and to single out, but if we met I told you how rad I think you are. I'm a sentimental kinda guy, what can I say?
But! On to business in the future- CHRISTMAS E-CARDS *remix airhorn*
I really like receiving Christmas cards, and anytime someone offers to send me one I jump on that. (And if you want to send me one, feel free to ask!) But with finals up until the 18th I don't have time to work on them, and so they wouldn't get to anyone until January at the earliest. But, with the magic of the internet, I can send you a Christmas card instantly! Just get me your email address and I'll add you to the list. I'm not sure what I'll do for them yet, but I had a lot of fun with the project last year and I hope to have a repeat of that.
Hope you guys all had a great weekend, con or not, and let's round out 2014 with some positive vibes and good times!

Between those two the best being Twitter, where I never EVER shut up and you can have more me than you can handle. Plus it's really the only place I'll post commissions anymore, so if you're just here to see me walk but not really talk, that's there for you too. And if you don't have Twitter, or a presence on any other site, I highly suggest making one just in case. This site seems to be a leaky boat held together with duct tape and lots of porn and I'm ready to jump ship anytime.

Posted 11 years agoFA lately is nothing but a tool of procrastination. So, in a fit of "I feel like I need attention," let's do this! Send me a note about whatever. It's like getting a letter in the mail, but way less work! I've always liked private messages to get to know someone, so hey, let's give it a shot. Now flood my inbox with messages about how cool you think I am. :D
Help Distract Me
Posted 11 years agoI'm working on a big economics paper and don't really feel very invested. So help me procrastinate, FA! Write a comment asking a question or telling me about your day or engaging in bad awkward RP, whatever. You can send a note too doing these same things if you want. I just want to take a break from labor markets and making you do all the work seems appropriate. Get on it, dorks!
VIDEO GAMES
Posted 11 years agoThe new semester of school has started, and you know what that means: putting off work and playing lots and lots of VIDEO GAMES YEAH
Right now I'm still on my second wind of Team Fortress 2 and every so often playing the new Diablo 3 patch to watch numbers fly all over the place. My Steam is Duino Duck and my Battlenet ID is Duino#1789 if anyone ever wants to jump into a game- just be sure to send me a message first! Also I'm looking for some spare name/description tags or strange parts in TF2 if anyone has any; feel free to send me a message and we can talk trades. :D
I also got my copy of Persona 4 in the mail today! I adored Persona 3 when I finally beat it back in January and everyone's been trying to get me to play this since. I know very little, so no spoilers please, but I'm excited to give it a go when I get my PS2 hooked up in the dorm room. And one of these days I'll get to the Walking Dead Season 2... I've been putting it off. I'm not ready for feels. It's gonna be a tough one.
But yeah, games! What are you guys playing? Any recommendations, primarily on Steam?
