FA: United 3 is just around the corner! And by "just around the corner" I mean well over a year away! After a long, arduous discussion involving much alcohol, youtubing and partying, our scientists staffers have written our convention dates in finest of ball point pen:

Yes, we've moving from the incredibly hot month of August to the slightly hot, but not-quite-as-hot-month of May. Due to economic reasons, we had to pick a month with less letters in the title as it saved on ink. But rest assured, the money saved will go to improve FAU3 tenfold!

Okay, folks, so... I want to do something special for yak. As some of you may (or may not) know, yak has been the backbone of Fur Affinity for as long as I can remember. He's put his heart, his soul and countless nights into the site and coded the Search engine by hand. He's also a perfectionist, and strives to make sure everything is just right.

Just a note:
Tags will be removed from all submissions on Fur Affinity in the coming weeks. Don't fret, though. If you've previously tagged images they will automatically be translated to keywords. Yak has implemented Keywords in their place. They're easier to use and offer a wide range of versatility. Check the wiki link above for an example regarding tagging entries. Use spaces to separate search words, not commas, etc.

So, I went to the pharmacy today to pick up my meds... and the girl rings it up, and it rings up for $4.20. And I start giggling like the deviant fuck that I am, snickering. So, today I did FA's taxes for 2008 (eww, eww, eww!), and after tallying up all expenses, I came to the total base cost of what it takes to run a site as big as FA:

We recently learned our database was illegally accessed and certain contact and account data were taken, including Monster user IDs and passwords, email addresses, names, phone numbers, and some basic demographic data.
Monster.com, the largest job site in the entire world, has been hacked. Not only have usernames and e-mails been leaked... but passwords as well. This is an EPIC fuckup on their part. For any failure FA may have ever incurred this is a hundred times worse.

If you have used monster.com and have a password on the site that you use anywhere else CHANGE YOUR SHIT NOW. Don't fuck around. If you used monster and used a common login change your shit. Change your e-mail account passwords first as they are the most vulnerable. If you used monster.com change your shit and change it now.

I have created a new forum specifically for further discussion of the AUP. There are many misconceptions about the AUP and many people are freaking out over it (as I expected when I wrote my original journal). Discussion is always good. Keep in mind that if you want to affect change do so with a well thought out post. Give us honest feedback, not emotion.

So, uh... a while ago I happened to pick up a bottle of bottle of Three Olives' Root Beer Vodka. As some of you may know, I'm something of an alcoholic waiting to awake itself*. In saying this I refer to the fact I like to drink until I can no longer feel my teeth. It's rather fun! =)

When it comes to root beer flavored vodka one has to ask... why? And you don't ask "why" as one would ask "Why is the sun yellow?" you ask in the tone of "For fuck's sake, WHY?!" Who the fuck thought root beer vodka would ever be good? And who the hell would be stupid enough to buy it?

Obviously, I am that stupid somebody.

Mostly out of curiosity's sake, I bought a bottle of it. In fact, I bought it about two months ago and short of taking a sip or two to try it out it's sat on the shelf. And sat. And sat some more. And finally, I ran out of amaretto and the Captain. All I had left to murder my brain was this shit. So, like any good drunk would do, I drank what I had. And surprisingly? Root beer vodka is amazing. Not by itself, no, but mixed with your average cola? My god.

FA Site policy has been updated, and there are some ESPECIALLY important rules out there in the new AUP that will affect some of you (e.g. FA Photobucketers).

The new rules have been posted for discussion on the FA Forums under "Fur Affinity Discussion". I highly advise you to check them out, read them, and if you have ANY QUESTIONS please ask us on the forums. As has happened in the past people have speculated as to what the changes mean. Don't be a stupid user. If you have questions... ASK. We will be more than happy to clarify any concerns you may have.

Six months later since I first posted about out Folding@Home team, we've gone up over *200* positions (link) on the global chart. Back in August? We were ranked 367th. Today? We're 135 out of 151777. Yep. We're on the verge of breaking into the top 100 globally. We've out-folded entire universities. Furries... out-folded universities. Seriously.
