My thoughts on this year's Macro March
General | Posted 4 weeks agoTo those who liked the screenshots of my Roegadyn Ramil in various macro mayhem, I'm glad you love them just as much as I love making them, which considering the number of screenshots I have posted since learning how to mod FF14, you can probably already guess that. But as this Macro March closes, I'd like to just share something.
I know that of late, the majority of my uploads are screenshots, and I hope I'm not boring everyone with all these pics of my FF14 character. But I learned something over the time I have been posting screenshots. I'm a writer first and foremost while my drawing is okay yes, but I never had real experience drawing big guys as others here have. With GPosing and mods in FF14, however, I'm able to express my love of big guys through it, which is why I've been doing screenshots so much. I will still ask for commissions, of course, but now when I feel like I come up with an idea for a fat/muscled guy pic, I can make it happen to an extent with GPosing.
But the main reason I think I've had so much FF14 on my mind is that while there are big guys in many games and RPGs, you either don't get to play as them, they are NPCs, or even trying to create a big character in a game when they ask you to do so you can't create that perfect sized, perfectly built hero you want to play as.
FF14 has given me something I've been wishing from games for so long: I can PLAY as that big guy I wanted to play. What's more, I can easily change his build anytime to suit my mood for wanting a fat or muscled character. It's true I still have so many expansions to get through still, but being able to see my big lug of a loveable huggable Roe all the time, it makes playing the game worth even more.
So yeah... I screenshoot because I can express myself and my love of big guys not to mention PLAY AS that big guy that I wish gaming companies would just let us make so we don't need mods.
Sorry for talking your ear off, not to mention the constant wave of screenshot uploads ^^' I hope to continue to make big guy screenshots and share it with those who love my FF14 character just as much as I do :)

On Discord's changes
General | Posted 2 months agoI heard that in a few days, Discord will start having its members use facial recognition or ID to log in. I don't know exactly what that means for people who already have been using Discord for years, but I want to let you know that should Discord become unusable for me because of this change, I will still be here on FA until I find a possible alternative to chat. We'll just have to wait and see but just want to let you know so my friends on Discord don't worry at where I went if I can't use it.
In the meantime, does anyone have a suggestion on any alternative messenger platform I could go to just in case?

My view about the state of video games (would like opinions)
General | Posted 2 months agoI know this may not be the best place to talk about things like video games, but I just felt like I needed to put my two scents in about how video games have changed since they were first made. As somebody who was born in the early 80's, I have seen the rise of video games start from the basic Atari to the very powerful PS5. I have seen the evolution of many genres of games from action, sports (the few that I did play), simulation games, but to me and more important, the RPG genre.
I basically grew up on RPGs. Wild ARMS, Grandia, Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts. I have played so many RPGs over the course of over 30 years since we first got the Nintendo. I have seen many franchises come and go or die out because of poor management, I even tried ROM hacks for Final Fantasy 4 and 6 (the later of which I now consider the cannon version of 6 as it is THAT good yet challenging).
However, as we near 2030, I've begun to notice something about the world of gaming. To me at least, I feel like games are getting too 'big' in scale. For example, there's a big difference to the original Dragon Quest 3 game and the 2d hd remake, not just in terms of graphics and storytelling, but the grand scale of things to do and explore in the Remake. Not to mention the brutal change in the Final Fantasy series ever since 13 hit (I'm not including 14 as that gets a pass) but they seemed to focus so much on making sure that single blade of grass in a gigantic open field looks real than putting more thought into the combat system. I know there will be some who will say otherwise, but Final Fantasy no longer feels like FF, but a different action RPG series in total. I haven't finished 15 and I barely touched 16 because to me, it just didn't feel like the FF I grew up with. Magic spells, armor and weapons collecting, planning for boss fights with good equipment setup, that was how I remembered FF. Even their famous summons no longer has any appeal... mainly because we haven't been able to properly USE them since 15.
I feel like games have reached a point where the grand scale of the things one can do and see in a single game alone has begun to feel... overwhelming. There ARE exceptions to this, but of the many games I played last year, half I finished and half I just couldn't because they just felt too much to do. I am especially on the fence about the recent release of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined and while I love many of the changes they made from the last version, again I feel like Square Enix added way too much content for a series that always felt simple.
I used to be a completionist and try to do everything possible in any RPG I play, but now I've seen mini games made for demigods to complete to get that one crafting material to make that ultimate weapon, a lack of trying to make combat enjoyable, poor use of things like equipment, spells and skills, the things I grew up with. I feel like gaming companies could do with dialing back the need to make their latest RPGs so open world it's like travelling the ACTUAL world in terms of time and go back to the basics. You can still make good graphics but don't think every snowflake needs to be seen or make sure that sunset is so bright you need to lower the bloom.
I'm starting to realize, too, that there is always a thin line that games that can walk on it without falling can be considered gems. Perfect examples are Dragon Quest 11, Lufia 2: rise of the sinistrals, Final Fantasy 9, Rouge Galaxy, and many others. Big enough to do a lot but not too overwhelming with combat that is fun and things that make the story enjoyable.
But now? A game that takes up so much space in your gaming systems, remakes that nobody asked for and just throw every kind of mini game in it to make the game even more confusing, too much empathizes on graphics than actual game play. I know I am probably in the minority in my thought on this, but I think games have reached that point where I may just give up gaming completely or at least stick to retro games, all because games don't feel the same anymore, they don't give me that feeling of accomplishment, of wonder, of actual praise.
To prove my point, unless they either tone it back or go back to old style gaming but with just the right amount of balance of old and new, Final Fantasy is a dead series to me, as is the Star Ocean series, the Doom series, the Xenoblade series (this one REALLY hurts me) and it looks like I may be adding Borderlands to the list as I can't get myself to want to finish 4. I've just been disappointed so many times now by thinking the game I paid good money for ended up being a trash game.
Of course, being a 44yr old gamer, I may just be entering that whole 'things were better back in the day' phase, but even in this day and age there are many modern games I like and don't think are crap, so it may just be personal preference, but to me, games have started losing their appeal.
Doesn't mean I won't stop gaming, it just means I may have to start renting games or use emulators to play the older games. Again, all of this is just my opinion on the topic, otherwise we wouldn't have video games still if others loved the newer games and whatnot. I just wish we can get some good old style games done with modern touches that don't overshadow getting enjoyment out of said game.
Thanks for listening to my rant, would love to hear any of your opinions on this.

Shout out for furry in need
General | Posted 6 months agoMini waves of submissions incoming
General | Posted 7 months agoJust a heads up, I've been very busy with taking screen shots of my character in FF14 since the last time I posted one. I've finally gotten started with Stormblood so I am progressing, but I've also been taking screenshots of not just my character but with other Roegadyn NPCs, thanks to the help of my FF14 furry friends showing me how mods work. I've even been inspired to write a few short stories to go with some of the screen shots I've done, so I'll be posting those too. They will come in mini waves as I HAVE been busy ^^' Hope you enjoy seeing so many big guys!
Art wave alert/A few words/Thoughts from a FF14 player
General | Posted 8 months agoJust to let you all know, I have a LOT of pics I am going to be posting soon of my Roegadyn, so just a heads up.
I also want to thank all of you who like the stuff I post, especially considering that a LOT of my recent posts have been screenshots of my character from FF14. I know furries can have human ocs, but I also know I've been a little focused on screenshots instead of other art, but with how many ways I can show my FF14 character so big, along with my other human OC Kapule, I am being reminded of why I found big guys just so fascinating when I was young. That of course eventually led me to accepting I was gay and also, I love just how handsome both my Roe and human look when drawn by other artists. I want to try and get art of my other OCs like I used to but for now, I just seem 'human' focused ^^'
And speaking of FF14, just a random rant. I understand there are many different kinds of races to play in the game and I'm not trying to judge, but sometimes when I play for hours and the only other active Roegadyn I see are NPCs while I barely see ANY other Roe players both male and female, and I just feel... sad. Don't get me wrong, I love the game and the community, but seeing my big roe in a server that have more of the other races than mine makes it feel like I am an outsider, and the roe players I do come across... well social anxiety isn't exactly helping in trying to see if I could make more FF14 friends. Of course, that's just my view on the topic, I can't say for sure how other players who are Roegadyn feel, I just felt like saying this.
Anyway, sorry to take up your time. Hope you have a great day! ^^'

Looking for artists that do ref sheets of any species
General | Posted 10 months agoIt came to my attention that with all the pics I got, I feel like not only do I need to update Sage's ref sheet, but I would like to try getting ref sheets for a couple of my characters, but I can't exactly pay too much on each one. Does anyone know good artists who do ref sheets for any species at reasonable prices?

General | Posted 11 months agoTo any and all Final Fantasy 14 Players
General | Posted 11 months agoFirst off, I want to apologize again for the whole 'discord hacking' issue that may have affected my discord friends or others. Thankfully, everything is back to normal, and I am now more cautious of any doubtful calls, emails and such.
Second, I hope I am not boring you with all the FF14 screen shots I've been posting of late. I'm just THAT into playing modded FF14 and seeing my character be big whenever and whatever I want, though with other games coming, I will have to eventually cut back on FF14 to focus on them but I will not give the game up completely.
Third, and the main reason for this, as stated above, I have been loving seeing my Roegadyn be so big, but as I have been playing FF14 of late, it became painfully clear that I and others are playing a race that is barely picked. And with each Roe player I do see, I started to get the idea of wanting to make a FC to help bring all Roegadyn and lover of all bigness together.
Of course, I have no idea how to go about doing that or even if I should given the timing I had coming into FF14 in the first place (I think I beat Endwalker before 7.2 came out) but the idea is running strong even now and who knows what may happen. In the meantime, I was wondering what your opinion of this idea is. Would it be a good or bad idea?

Update on the Discord Issue + to all artists I ask for art
General | Posted 11 months agoJust an update on the hack issue from a week ago. I have reported to Discord about the issue, but I went and made a new account. Still, be on the lookout for any messages from my old account. Also wanted to let any artist that I haven't paid or couldn't pay for any commissions I asked for that I can pay for them again so let me know if I still haven't paid. Again, sorry for the confusion and problems
URGENT NOTICE TO ALL MY DISCORD FRIENDS
General | Posted 12 months agoI have recently been told someone used my discord accord to make purchases of nitro by a friend there and I needed to talk to someone there to make sure my account wasn't locked. Long story short, I was scammed big time and can no longer access my old account -_-' I may have to start with an entirely new account so if you get a note from me on Discord until otherwise, THAT IS NOT ME. To all who I am friends with on Discord, I would appreciate it when I make a new account that I can send a friend request to you.
I am so sorry about this ;_;

Looking for a writer who does reasonable cost commissions
General | Posted a year agoFirst I wanted to say thanks for all who have been loving the content I post here on FA of late. After a big dry spell, I have started on a personal project I want to put as much focus on, but recently I have been thinking about another story staring my sona Sage and my demigod human Kapule who canonically now lives with the Flamanine, as a way to start up any ideas for pics I may want of the two. However, I don't want to be forced to split my focus on multiple projects. That's why I am looking for a writer who can do commission at a fair price. Course I don't have the money to ask for one atm but when I do, can any of you recommend any writers? I already wrote down the dialogue between my ocs and I can write brief notes on what kind of action should be going on easily, so would that help ease prices? Please let me know, and thanks.
Apologize for the constant flow of art of late
General | Posted a year agoI'm sure many of you have been seeing an influx of art of late. Sorry if this art flood bothers you, just got so many commissions of late X3
