The day was great...until....
Posted 18 years agoI just found out. Not only did my story not get accepted, but my musician brother made it in two categories. Those are what he does best: Poetry; and what I do best: Writing.
I was devastated. Not really that my story wasn't accepted, because I had a feeling the length was too long, but that once again my brother appears to be better than me, and its worse that its something he was never particularly good at.
Well, I went through a quick exchange of grief, confusion, arrogance, envy, jealousy, and self pity during my first mile of walking.
Then I stopped, bought a Monster: Chaos, kept walking and turned my music to Coheed and Cambria.
By mile 2 the Monster was empty and I was bobbing my head happily to "The Willing Well II: From Fear through the Eyes of Madness" (my favorite Coheed song), and I felt better.
When my brother was my age, just starting out, he wasn't too great either. But he's come a long way and truthfully I'm proud of him.
In this world someone you're very close to can become your enemy when you try to compete, but its times that they do better than you that you have to remember back in the day when they were the only person you close to. And I'm glad his work (especially his poetry, I wasn't suprised that got accepted) will be in a national magazine.
Unfortunately, my story won't be appearing on FA. I'm really sorry, guys, but I don't want to be an internet author. Sure, I'll keep writing stories to go on here, but I'd rather right a, well, REAL story. Something to skim over while spending the night in the terminal, something to read to your kids as they fall asleep, something to read over when you're withering away and your family has moved on.
Ok, now I'm feeling better. The day's over, its time to relax....
And hope to WHATEVER is controlling my fate that my application to be an extra in a new movie isn't rejected!

*sings* I did great in Oklahoma! Oklahoma, OK!
Posted 18 years agoOklahoma was a hit!
Thursday wasn't the best night, we made plenty of mistakes and very few people were there. Friday, our show was the best but the audience was unresponsive. Saturday, the show was awful but we had a very responsive audience!
All three nights gained us a standing ovation ;) Heh, well I had this trouble with my boyfriend who didn't know what that was. It's one of the finest honors you can get on a show, where the whole crowd stands and cheers while they're clapping.
Sunday was fun, all of the cast was called in to take apart the set. I really missed using power tools, even though when I was little I HATED helping my dad build things in the garage.
I'm going to miss the whole cast, even the people I didn't like too much. And even though I didn't have a main character part, that was such a fun show.
I haven't had this much fun in a show since Fiddler on the Roof, where I actually had a part (Lazaar Wolf).
Sorry, no pictures. I didn't take any while I was there, but Im expected a DVD of the show to come soon

Posted 18 years agoI just found a flyer for the literary Magazine I submitted to. On the application sheet is said all stories must be no more than 15 pages. On the flyer, however, it says I can't go farther than 10.
I'm hoping they still accept it. We'll have to wait until the magazine comes out

Young writer, little experience and no formal writing educat
Posted 18 years agoMy story is due on the 28th. Just my luck that I had to waste the whole weekend after the deadline was changed from Friday to Wednesday.
For privacy reasons (this literary magazine is a national seller), I won't be putting the story on here. I intend to keep my fur/zoo and "normal" work separate.
But here's a treat, since you guys like my comics, I'm going to try to scan some I drew the other day during rehersals for the local OKLAHOMA! production. They should be on here soon.
I know I promise that a lot though 8-P

I don't care
Posted 18 years agoI've stopped caring what anyone tells me: Halo should NOT become a movie!
My friend made a good point, you get all the storyline from the game. I can see a game being vastly popular and spawning actions figures and everything, but Halo isn't the best game out there and doesn't deserve a movie
I mean...look at Final Fantasy and Tomb Raider. The movies made from them were awful. Why should this be any different?

Carpal tunnel?
Posted 18 years agoWell, yesterday was rushed.
I woke up at about noon with my friend throwing books, phones, and even my PSP at me. Finally he had to shout "WAKE UP!" for me to actually get up.
He said that we were supposed to catch the bus and go to the next town over to see our friend. When asked what was in it for me, he said she has DDR, something we both were great at until the machine at the acarde broke.
A 30 minute bus ride later, we're getting off in front of her house in 8 degree weather (F) and nearly 2 feet of snow. Anyway, we played DDR for a while, and then I wanted to try out Guitar Hero.
Anyone else a fan, anyone? Anyone? I just want to know, can you get carpal tunnel from playing Guitar Hero about 3-4 hours straight?

You know you live in the ghetto when...
Posted 18 years ago...you go to your nearest Circle K at 11pm and buy a 24-pack of Pepsi which is just two 12-cases taped together o_0.
The guy at the counter had no idea what he was doing either. I was still... *ahem* feeling effects from spending time with my friends (which is why I walked there), so I was worried that I'd just budged in front of this one lady, but really she was just they guy's girlfriend, who was having an argument with him.
Ahhh, good ol' west side of Chicago-2! 8^)

At least SOMETHING'S completed
Posted 18 years agoBy that I mean Zelda: Twighlight Princess
I just beat it after a huge battle. You really get sucked into the storyline and personally I think it could've been a movie!
Anyway, new comic being made. All I have is the background though

Wow. I'm surprised. I mean, really.
Posted 18 years agoSo what, does everyone like my comics better than my stories or are they just quicker to read?
Naw, I'm playing. I love feedback on any of my submissions, story or art. I'm just amazed at the ratio of comments to submission types are. I'm getting a lot more feedback and attention (watchers) ever since I posted those two comics. I'm amazed.
Well, that aside, no new work on HAS, sorry. I haven't even opened up the program. Something's not right here....
I'm discouraged, thats it.
Things've been WAY to quiet around here lately.
No, not on FA, on the net itself and in my own life. Things are going slow, nothing is really happening...
Well, things ARE happening, but I'd rather leave most of that stuff OFF of FA, if you catch my drift *whistles*
I'm getting sick again. My sinuses are draining and I have a sore throat. But oh well, a little break would be nice.
If only the TV worked................
THATS IT! I used to watch TV for inspiration, and since it hasn't been working since I got my Wii, things've been slow!
I gotta get it fixed

Today I realized something...
Posted 18 years agoI am the WORST artist out there!
Oh well, I still love to draw. Even if nothing looks good or realisitic. Hell, I'm disappointed with the way my COMICS look now, too!
I had plently of time to realize it, I had plenty of down time to space out and draw. Maybe when I actually try things look bad
I don't know 0_o. But so far, no more work on HAS.
Comments would be nice, but am I losing it? Am I just stressed? Worried about something? All I know is my self portrait and stopmotion video went to shit. I don't know. Must be my creative streak ended with LAS. Maybe its a sign.
Anyway, the weather's awful. It was raining, supposed to turn to freezing/sleet soon. And of course, my daily 2.5 mile walk was wet and really cold. But I'm not complaining.
I'm tired now. Just really tired.
If anyone has any idea on what could get some creative juices to flow, just let me know :)

Muscles...ow
Posted 18 years agoWorst New Years yet. It was spent with me on the couch counting down from my atomic clock, while my dad (yes, still hungover) was picking a movie to watch.
I burnt my finger making us dinner...at about 11pm. Just a red mark, nothing serious yet. Even though it hurts to touch.
Well, no new work on HAS yet. As for my stop motion movie, I have time to work on that, and I'm already writing a script.
Today I had to help my grandparents move some furniture...not just in their house, either. They're landlords to the block.
At least my brother was here for the holiday's, he's a bit stronger (but doesn't even work out like I do, those muscles grew on him through marching!)
Tired as hell, but Idlewild's on, might go watch that.

Posted 18 years agoIt's not too easy to have someone (your own dad) offer you pot and demand you take it. Turns out it was a test, but hell, that guy STILL scares the shit out of me, even though he has a few years on me and I have more muscles, he's like a weasel-not afraid of anything.
So, I didn't get to sleep until about 5am, waking up at 5pm. I missed the party I was supposed to go to, too.
As for the story, I feel even worse. It sounded perfect when I wrote it before, now it sounds like a hunk of shit. Doesn't have that nice little rythm, you know?
Oh well.
Happy New Years, everyone!

There is no drummer better than NEIL PEART!
Posted 18 years agoAnyway, Christmas was nice. I got plent of Coheed and Cambria merch, including their graphic novels. Also Zelda for the Wii, which stumped me but my friend is close to beating.
Anyway, Heart and Soul is getting rewritten, I've started it back up again.
Right now I'm working on doing a self portrait.

Wii got one!
Posted 18 years agoYup! After a long night, I'm finally the proud owner of a Wii (even though my brother helped pay. It's his too).
All of my friends went to the wrong EB Games, the one at the mall. The one I thought they meant was the store on Verterans Parkway, across from the State Farm building. Anyway, we realized they werent there, but turns out this place was lesser known, and only 4 were in stock. We got 2nd in line! My brother and I sat in lawn chairs for 11 hours straight, with him usually going to Dennys to get him some coffee and me a few energy drinks. Well, I was wired. Luckily I had my cell phone games, my brother's DS, a book, and my Ipod (with games XP), so it wasn't too bad. We had a tent too, but the concrete was too cold.
Anyway, I got a total of 2 hours of sleep, my brother hasn't had any, and right now we're completely fried, playing Wii Sports (I'm kicking his ass in boxing! :D).
So if I'm not on for a while you'll know why!

Waiting to Wii!
Posted 18 years agoIt was around 3 today, I was walking back along a side street to Veterans Parkway. My friend Aimee (yeah, she was the inspiration for Aimee in LAS in case you were wondering) suddenly stops in her new Jeep, saying she had something to tell me. Of course I had to be a smart-ass and ask whats in it for me, and she offered me a ride home. I took it.
Anyway, she said she had called EB Games today, hearing that they're giving out Wii's REALLY early sunday morning, and that people are camping for a place in line on Saturday.
So, with her and a few of my other friends, we're going to go lawn chair style, all with our music, games and money, and we're going to get us a Wii!....hopefully >.<

Bad idea
Posted 19 years agoSupposedly this 'break' would do me good and give me plenty of time write, right?
Nope. I guess I've been healthy too long to really remember what it's like to be sick.
Cold weather=exposure=catch something=lose appetite=No food=feeling worse=stay on couch curled up in a blanket=no creative juices flowing!
Maybe I washed all of those out of my system with all these vitamin waters
Oh well. I'm getting my strength back, I'm eating (a little) again, and it's the weekend now, so I have plenty of time to write during then. If not, at least I got the three lines!
I'd love to share what I have so far...problem is, it's when the story twist is revealed. So, then there'd be no more reason to write.
And as for my friend Nyquil...most sleep I've gotten for months!

Bah!
Posted 19 years agoTurns out today is about as bad.
I got a few lines written then hit another block. I thought the story sounded good but when I reread it, it didn't sound as good.
At least I got some critiques on my artwork!
This coughing is driving me insane. I've drank nearly 4 20ounce vitamin waters, and nothing's helping even slightly.

*coughes loudly*
Posted 19 years agoWell, something's going on.
Trouble with close friends, horrible snow/ice storm, and because every day I walk the two and a half miles to my house in 17 degree weather (F), now I'm sick!
Perfect timing, right? Sure, a bit of coughing and a Vicks bottle shouldn't stop me from my story, right? I should be done in no time, right?
Wrong. Hell, I'd rather be walking!
Turns out Nyquil was all I had, and it being my first day staying home I thought why not?
Heh, you try staying awake for more than 10 minutes after a slightly overdosage of Nyquil, after getting only 3 hours of sleep. If it was the post-insomnia fatigue that PUT me to sleep, the Nyquil probably knocked me back out when I woke up only 2 hours later.
Ironically, I was so tired because I was up late thinking about what to put into my story. Well, that and everytime I got close to sleeping a coughing fit would wake me up. By about 6 (when I decided it was hopeless and I should just stay up) it felt like I was coughing up shards of glass. Was that why there was blood in my tissue?
Haha, just kidding.
Anyway, I somehow woke up at 2pm, around the time the house fills up again with people. My day for being alone and creating was spent. But the way I planned it, I'll still be sick on Thursday and Friday. Only those days, I'm going to just use Vicks instead.

New???
Posted 19 years agoWell I thought my artwork might not be good enough for fur art, but today while I was bored and nearly sleeping, I started sketching the mid-body of a fur character. So far it's turned out better than I expected, I plan to try to learn new techniques so this won't end up looking like my other pieces, hehe
New story underway- Heart and Soul
Posted 19 years agoOkay- after I finished LAS (Lost at Sea), it seemed that I wasn't going to be able to top that. For a few months I went from story to story and none of them set off. Then I started writing what I would later name 'Heart and Soul' (which I actiuall named last night :D), and I thought 'Hey, this may not have as good of a storyline, but it sounds better to me than LAS did!'
Well, then in early November I hit another writers block. What I had so far satisfied me....and THEN my hard drive basically stopped working. Damn viruses! Well, it turned out I could not get to my story, since I planned to put it onto a CD that very day. Sadly, I had to format my hard drive and the story was lost.
At that, I suffered a wordal fuse being blown. I couldn't talk or type right for a good few days. And I was back to trying to write other stories that wouldn't set up.
But last night, I decided to start writing an excerpt for this story, and it brought me back! I pretty much remember what I had before, so I should be writing again in no time!
