Total Score: 3
1-10: Not a Furry Sue
Your character is most likely normal. They may have a few oddities or minor extremes, but not enough to add up to anything too crazy.
11-20: Maybe a little Furry Sue
Your character could be kind of a Furry Sue, but if they don't have any extremes, they could just be interesting. This is the gray area of Furry Sue-dom.
21-30: Strongly Furry Sue
You might want to dial your character down a bit. While they may not necessarily be ridiculous, they've clearly had too many qualities added on, and it could be a sign of bad taste or a desire for them to be a little too special or "extreme".
30+: Definitely Furry Sue
Your character is a Furry Sue. You should feel ashamed of yourself.
Glad to see I am in the green here.

Going to Taipei from Thursday to Sunday
General | Posted 11 years agoI'm going to be heading off to Taipei for a family trip from Thursday to Sunday. In other words, there's going to be a lot of bubble tea, a lot of Taiwanese pop music, and perhaps some night market walks. This is going to be really awesome, and as always, I am going to raise a cup of bubble tea to my fuzzbumpkins in Vancity. Much love as I do miss you folks~! It's going to be a great trip because number one, I know Mandarin, and number two, it's only 3-4 NTD to a HKD! Wooh! ^o^
Furthermore, for the folks who live and breathe technology by the wire (I am looking at you
Drekian ), check out Guang Hua Digital Plaza, the number one place for electronic accessories, peripherals, smartphones, and computer parts in Taiwan!
小狼狗又去旅行啊。今次會去台北玩。希望可以買一些五月天跟周杰倫的唱片,飲很多珍珠奶茶,和在夜市裡交融~! <3

FWA 2015: Shangri-La – The Furgotten Orient (Rant)

We love you guys, and we look forward to welcoming you back home next year for Furry Weekend Atlanta 2015: Shangri-La – The Furgotten Orient. Coming April 9th-12th, 2015 at our new home, the Marriott Marquis Atlanta!

How many pills did their staff pop while coming up with that name? Read a fucking history book on western colonialism 101 and realize how fucked-up the name of the convention is. The word "Orient" is considered to be derogatory, outdated, and a blanket term in its reference to Asian culture in general.
Hmph...exoticizing and fetishizing cultures and all that shit, cue the obsolete Oriental riff (DDDD C C A A C) that they would probably end up using in their trailer.
Good fucking riddance. Well, exoticizing and stereotyping other cultures have always been quite the staple.

Unfortunately this plays true to furry stereotypes left and right. Though I couldn't help but laugh throughout the entire Collegehumour parody.

A Grateful Retrospect - 12 months and a bit more
General | Posted 12 years agoFlashback to a year and a bit ago when I was still in Vancouver, I started to meet folks I could call furry friends. Back then, it was just me, and a couple of folks. We started meeting frequently Tuesday nights at the sushi meets, and then bubble tea - keeping in touch with each other.
To be honest, I did have friends outside of the furry meets, but the coincidences of how one another knew and got acquainted with each other, be it classmates, writer meetups, etc. prior to meeting them as furries means that this friendship was definitely one of a kind. It is precisely this complex web of wasta, the concept of who you know, that allowed me to gravitate and settle in comfortably. I felt we are not just a group of furry friends, but a group of furry friends that exists beyond our furriness.
It was thanks to these folks that I managed to meet more wonderful people that are like you guys. Prior to this, I felt socially blind and homeless within the Vancouver furry fandom - I really don't know who and how to hang out with other people beyond house meets, bowling meets, sushi meets, and of course the local Vancouver convention, VancouFUR. Thanks to you furs, we went to our own private lunch meets (you know, "The One" with the towering slush drinks), the Richmond Night Market despite it pouring at the end, and that time at the beach.
Of course, unfortunately, due to the fact I couldn't find work in Vancouver in the venues of online copywriting, I unfortunately had to move back to Hong Kong. I was almost moved to tears when my furry friends sent me off. To reiterate, it was the very, very first time my friends sent me off on my way back to the other side of the world. Thankfully, we still keep in touch online, ensuring this friendship never falters. For the once antisocial pomwolf who would rather curl up in the corner with his laptop, the active support we mutually gave each other was phenomenal.
I don't need to wish for anything this Christmas, as this is already an ongoing gift of friendship that can never be exhausted. Furthermore, we should definitely have matcha on the first chance I get back!
Thank you...

kehei Easy there Sir Capsalot.for introducing me to this wonderful community of ours. FA meme. Why not?
General | Posted 12 years ago
kehei was doing it, so I might as well give it a shot.1. Why did you join FurAffinity?
I joined FA to connect with the Vancouver furry folk.
2. What does your username have to do with you?
When I was in university, I like to deconstruct the norms through sociological analysis. As for "Tef", hmm...I like to have something short, sweet, and easy to remember, so Tef it is. I would've called myself Tef but that name is taken by another artist on FA.
3. What is your current avatar of?
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/11522836/
4. How many watchers do you have, and how many do you watch?
84:163
5. Do you have more than one account?
Nope.
6. Name 3 of your favorite artists on FA.
Temrin, Mavuriku, and Deerock-Gorilla.
7. What artist do you admire because of their personality?
Artists that may be popular, but does not fit the popufur stereotype (e.g. sending their hoards of fans against someone who disagree with their art)
8. Do you comment, fave, or both?
Both, but I fave more than I comment.
9. What do you typically post on FA?
Mostly my own art - though I do occasionally post commissions.
10.What's your favorite submission in your gallery?
Not my best drawn art, but my favourite submission. The theme for Anthrocon earlier this year was "The Fast and the Furrious" and given that I'm quite a car fanatic, I decided to whip this up.
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/10948874/
11. What are the things you wish you could draw better?
Hands! Limbs! Feet! Perspective! Gaararrrgh!
12. How many hours a day do you spend on FA?
Hahah...I don't keep count. Er...at least 5 hours per day?
13. Are you a fast, slow, or medium typer?
I'm a relatively fast typer. And loud too. Takatakatakatakatakatakataka....
14. What is the most annoying thing people ask you?
Are you Japanese? 屌你,看見亞洲人就以為他是日本仔. -.-
15. What is the most annoying/offending comment you've received?
Thank goodness I have yet to receive anything that is particularly offensive on FA. Well...with popularity comes the negative rep people try to impose on you.
16. What/who inspires you?
Taiwanese MVs
17. Everyone has considered leaving FA once or twice. Have you? Why?
I did. I am a very trusting person, see, and I've actually put my trust of other people as first priority. When that trust falters, I ended up feeling really shitty and reclusive from the community.
Brace yourselves
General | Posted 12 years agoJournal posts titling "Where I'll be?" when FA performs its database server migration are incoming.
You already know where to find me. It really depends whether I'm interested in finding you.

Going back to HK
General | Posted 12 years agoWell, I've tried searching for employment in Vancouver after graduation - turns out that I really don't have enough wasta to leave an impression on the folks here. Unfortunately, that will involve me going back to HK. Hope I can find employment back in Vancouver once I get more work experience within the span of the next five years.

Yet another change in my fursona...
General | Posted 12 years agoI do hope this is the last time I change my fursona. It's still going to be in the range of canines, a spitz-breed of dog/wolf cross.
Over the span of this year and a half, I felt that the Tamaskan Sled Dog side of me doesn't translate too well into how I prefer to interact in my own furry state. I do not like to make my fursona too different from my own personality. Folks have said that my exclamations sound like yaps, and given my smaller physical stature (1.74 metres), I felt a smaller breed of dog would be more suitable to my personality.
As unorthodox as it sounds, a Pomeranian/Wolf cross seems to fit the bill for me. Of course, you wouldn't find Pomeranian/Wolf crosses in real life, because it is just that unorthodox in terms of breeding either way - but this is the furry world, so of course such realities can be..."transposed" and "adjusted", so to speak.
I will not be physically adjusting and modifying my fursona, because it does accurately represent my Pomwolf self more than my former Tamaskan Sled Dog/Wolf self.
tl;dr, I'm now a Pomwolf, and you'd best be addressing my species ID as such.

Mayday - 第一天July 15. My day.
On this day, in the year 1991, I was born in Hong Kong.
So, I'm one year older as a wolfdog. That makes me 22 years old. In other words, I've been in the furry fandom for 5 and a half years now.
I admit, nothing really changed much for me, I still retain a main canine fursona more-or-less, though I'm starting to like kitties and red pandas.
I have managed to make a lot of good friends within the last year, and you know who you are. I admit, I used to be much more of a social butterfly, but like a cat and a cardboard box, once you've found your place within the community, it's in your best interests to stay there. Oh, is that my feline side encroaching on my fursona?
Either way, thanks for all the support, major and minor...you're all welcome, and for the record, you know who you are.
Differences between furry conventions and anime conventions?
General | Posted 12 years agoI know this is a stupid question regarding the title, but the first con that I have been to was a furry convention. I have just recently "been" to an anime convention earlier today, Anime Evolution at UBC. "Been" in scare quotes because technically I wasn't registered, and I was milling out at the ground floor of the Student Union Building where its quite the public space - and where the artist alley is at. There will be quite a storm of protests for the university-related services within the SUB if AE attempts to make the entirety of the SUB private for the weekend...I carried about my student card just in case.
Now where was I? Being not an attendee, I still get to experience the interactions of those attending the conventions. I still get to see their wardrobe, their props and all that. I have been told that the demographics of those attending at anime conventions as relatively more diverse in terms of age groups than furry conventions. I guess that is a valid point, as I personally got into Pokémon before branching away from Japanese anime and manga media to develop my own fursona. So I guess there is a valid point there.
Oh, anime folks seem to not be as open to hugs as a greeting gesture as furries. Perhaps because as a cosplayer, you are not really covering your face as much as a fursuiter, hence a bit less of anonymity in comparison to the furry "magic". 'Tis still approachable in both cases for a nice chat, though I'm not an anime person, and perhaps that may account for some bias. Yeah, I hear the comparison "Many furries are into anime, but not all anime folks are into furries" turn up quite a bit. I did see some fursuiters up and about AE though.
Artists, artists, artists...The content focuses more on hoomans and Homestuck/Pokémon/<insert your anime here because I have a limited knowledge of anime due to my personal lack of preference to make an example here> which is quite a goes-without-saying point, so I'll leave it at there.
The ugly similarities...Hm...not to discriminate, but con funk! And in addition to some congoers fulfilling the stereotype of those violating the 621 rule, those who rank of even more con funk (pardon the repetition), and those who seemed to have conquered every cheeseburger on the planet.
I am a furry who had experienced furry conventions - two VancouFUR conventions, before having the experience of an anime convention. I wonder what kind of retrospective story could be told regarding an anime con-goer experiencing a furry convention for the first time?

bloopbeepfookThe end of school, Samsung S4, and job hunting
General | Posted 12 years agoWell, I'm done with university. There's really nothing much for me to do other than to
- prepare myself for the driver's practical exam that I've been staving off because of school
- and go job hunting in Vancouver (and as much as I don't want to, go job searching in Hong Kong)
'Cause if I am able to find a job in Vancouver, Rainfurrest '13 will be an option. As well as VancouFUR 2014. And then I can eventually drive around and about with a full license in the near future too.
So...Samsung S4, am I getting one? Nope. In terms of how I treat my electronic devices, I use them until they drop, or about to drop. I only got my S3 for a year, c'mon! Do you think I'll be wasting my perfectly good phone for a newer one which does close to the same things? Not saying S4 is bad, but my S3 has been quite reliable for me throughout the year. My 5 year old Macbook on the other hand with a malfunctioning trackpad (its usage replaced by my tablet), and a faulty inverter board, will soon be retired off of its duty. Methinks I'll probably check out Future Shop, Best Buy, etc. for a Windows PC or laptop.

I would be staying in Vancouver with a job...IF I HAD ONE!!

VancouFUR 2013, a jolly good show
General | Posted 13 years ago"If two furries sue each other, would it be a fursuit?"
Ahem.
Soo...I was supposed to post these days ago, but my lightheaded-ness and schoolwork got the better of me. Either way, where to begin?
VancouFUR 2013 was quite the jolly good show. First thing's first, the best part of VancouFUR was that the con staff was able to acquire the room near the lobby as a dealer's den. Having attended the very first VancouFUR, the previous room just wasn't big enough.
Speaking of the dealer's den and shopping, I did all the shopping during the first night at the con. Like last year, I commute by bus and Skytrain to the convention, braving the overly antagonizing rain. I was actually planning on arriving at the con an hour earlier, but laptop troubles caused me an hour of my time when I was done with my classes.
I have managed to buy myself a wolf bandanimal from Kitty Loves Monster. Initially I accidentally bought myself a cat bandanimal, but the folks were very nice, exchanging it for a wolf one with no penalty. In addition, I bought myself a tail from
starwonder . Now my furry non-fursuit wardrobe is complete!
I was the one running into the dealer's den last Saturday waving my Tim Hortons cup, screaming "I won a car! I won a car!" over and over again before running back out of the den. In hindsight I should have paraded around the con by myself screaming that.
As someone who has only attended VancouFUR, I only see certain familiar faces a couple of times max during the year. I was able to meet up with some awesome high-profile artists that I've been dedicated fans of, and I managed to pay some of 'em to draw both Tef and Wisteria respectively. ^w^
Shoutouts to
Temrin for being awesome, and it was nice meeting with you again. For the record,
deerock-gorilla, I really love your art and I enjoyed the conversations we had during the con regarding Chinese and Taiwanese culture. I should probably do my homework and listen to some classic music from Taiwanese pop stars. Also to ironfur for his awesome digitigrade legs and I offer you respect for having been in Hong Kong for a while.
I actually danced for once at the con! During the Dead Dog Dance, I actually did dance! Nothing beats carrying a chair-bound fur onto the dancing floor. Apparently it was a first for a VancouFUR dance session. Although at the cost of me feeling lightheaded the next day.
Last but not least...there are certain furs whom I want to thank for your awesome companionship throughout the three days of the con. I may have brought deathly glares and scratches on my own expense - you know who you are, but without you all, my con experience would not have been wholly awesome. In no particular order...
