Halloween 2010 video ... via Facebook unfortunately. :/
Posted 15 years agoAll right, the video from Halloween 2010 has been up for quite a while but Youtube doesn't want to place nice with the audio selection.
hollud has already put in a lot of effort in syncing it and I think it would be a shame to just let it slip like that though.
If you are interested in watching it, you can can catch it via Facebook video (you will need to login to Facebook though), and the video is at http://www.facebook.com/video/video.....v=455064208057
I think you can also use a video saver site to view it if you want (just supply them the above link) when prompted for video URL if you lack a FaceBook account, although you only be able to save the low-res version this way.
EDIT: Some grammer mistakes made at 12 midnight fixed!

And halloween is done
Posted 15 years agoAnd Halloween night celebrations are finally over here. We wound up having 4 fursuits and a TF2 Pyro costume running around for the night.
The Phase Change Cooling packs were awesome and kept me from heat exhaustion for the entire event (except towards the end where all of them were used up), and managed to use 7 of the 8 packs to help keep myself cool. I do need a better harness system for holding them in place to my chest though. The cotton vest was too bulky though.
More pictures and videos to come after the event is done.

Less than a week to Halloween!
Posted 15 years agoOnly 6 days to go till Halloween over here and it seems that this weekend is just going to be simply packed with stuff and more. Kinda jostling around getting stuff organized and tied down, trickier than it looks really.
Hopefully all will run reasonably to plan and we can get on with Halloween scares and noms. :P

Halloween starts early!
Posted 15 years agoWe're fortunate to have a month long Friday/Saturday night celebration for Halloween at the Night Safari this year, and we decided to drop by for a visit since they're encouraging costumes in their guests.
Well, a dragon, a zombie fox and a cat trudged into their midst for one night and this is the result!
Although we didn't intend to, we ended up ghosting the event. There was simply too many people for us to make it anywhere near the real entrance of the Night Safari before I started to overheat. Ice packs and Instant cold packs can only go so far it seems!
Still it was a fun photo-shoot and it seems that all the guests and even the staff that night were thrilled to have a few extra animals for the night! :)
Now for the actual Halloween night ...

Anthrocon 2010
Posted 15 years agoI was thinking about doing a comprehensive con report up on FA, but after writing it out, I think it's way too long and wordy! I'll just stick with the highlights!
Firstly, the flight there was a little worse than I expected. Got flagged for one too many random inspections, but managed to get there in time to adjust (badly) to local time. Coffee, and even Monster energy drinks do nothing to me I have discovered! The way back was perfect though so that's a good thing.
This was my first fursuit con, and it was a enlightening experience. I must admit I got to see a section of the con that I have not seen before and it was fun experience to be lumbering around in suit. I really need to extend my fursuit time, and thanks to aphinity/ioco as well as some of the panels I've attended, I think I have a better idea of what additional accessories to pack for a furry con next time!
I met up with a lot of new and old friends this year. Trying to list all of you down with my memory sieve is going to go "eeeeek!". I'll like to say it was nice meeting up with all of you, no matter how brief it was. I really hope I can change that another year, but Anthrocon sure is hectic even for meetups! As usual, going to Anthrocon for means losing weight, and shed about 4 pounds over the week, yay!
I'll probably try and scan up the art that I have, but my scanner long gone, and I need to liberate another local fur's scanner for it.
P.S To those who managed to get a packet of bandung, hope you all liked it! ^_^

Local Mascot Parade 2010
Posted 15 years agoGoing to kick off with my report of the local Mascot Parade (www.mascotparade.org) as a one day event is easier to write about than an awesome week long con experience! :P
Vee in his fox suit, Smyle in his Mik cat and myself suited up for several hours despite the 90F, 90% humidity. We bumped into a variety of mascots from the local Talent House Studios, as well as a huge array of regular costumes ranging from princesses, to military costumes to Superman and even a costume of the local TV comedy character, Phua Chu Kang. Some of the most impressive however, were a huge group of Predators, a Monster Hunter in Silver Rathalos armor (which I posted up a picture of) and the jaw dropping huge Gundam costume, which is almost twice my size! There were many others too, but the area was quite large and I couldn’t see all of them as I couldn’t take more than a few steps before being stopped for photos.
The parade finally got on its way, after a few false starts and when I was starting to overheat. For me though, it started off badly. I was separated from Mik and Vee and was trapped between the two Youth Olympic mascots which weren’t in the parade but merely hanging around at the back of the line. After Gale helped me squeeze past them, I was boxed in by teams of Chinese Dragon Dancers who stopped to perform their act for a few minutes every 20 yards or so. Eventually though, with some help from a parade staff, a sneaky detour and a bit of running in suit, we managed to detour past them and get back to the end of the costume parade. By then though, we’ve already left the main pedestrian walkways and was merely skirting around the back of the shopping malls to get back to where we started. Still, I was the focus of every camera when I popped up at the end of the parade, an unexpected surprise to have a dragon pop up behind Chinese dragon dances I suppose! XD
After the parade, I was overheated and exhausted to stay in suit for much longer, missing some of the stage acts at the end of the parade. I managed to stay in suit long enough to finally meet up with Tarns, who was in port, with his colleague before changing out for dinner and some hanging out time.
It was a nice wrap up to my fursuiting experience for the past two weeks, and a totally different experience from Anthrocon. Despite the few blips, there was much fun to be had and I really wished I could have stayed in suit longer. The lack of water (they handed out canned coffee at the end of the parade @_@), cooling areas (there were none designated and even the mascots took their heads off everywhere in public) and proper changing rooms (the changing “rooms” was an open air booth fully visible to the public), made it impossible for me to stay longer in suit. I greatly appreciate the effort of furry conventions staff that ensure these vital facilities are available for fursuiters after I went through a parade without them!
Lastly, I will like to send a big thank you to all the spotters of the day: Ark, Bloody, Flamber, Gale and Shiron. Junias and Norstein missed the parade, but at least they joined us for coffee at night. Thanks to Vee and Smyle for inspiring me to suit up and join them for the event, and to Tarns too for dropping by to see us all and being tolerant of an exhausted dragon! ^_^

And back from AC 2010
Posted 15 years agoAnd I'm finally back home from Anthrocon 2010. I must be one of the outlier 1% or so who only arrived home so late from Anthrocon but oh well. XD
The fursuit experience isn't over for me though. I've registered to participate in a mascot parade this Saturday and with luck, I'll be able to attend it in suit for it.
For now though, essential fursuit unpacking and Anthrocon loot unpacking. I'll upload a con journal update later. ^_^

AC 2010 update
Posted 15 years agoAnd my first convention outing in suit completed. Man, how do you dry these the suits quickly after use at a con... It is probably going to take a while before I can use it comfortably again. Hope it's able to dry out mostly overnight.
I'll definitely be in the fursuit parade on Sat, but the rest of my fursuit appearances is going to be quite random if I can get a handler to assist me.
Going to crash quite early, exhausted and I think I need rest before since the con actually hasn't started yet!

And arrived for AC
Posted 15 years agoAnd finally arrived... Chilling out at the hotel room now... Need sleep, near exhaustion, outbound trip had quite a number of hiccups.
Moving out!
Posted 15 years agoAll right. Finally leaving my home and headed towards the airport.
I doubt I'll be able to make another post on FA there, so this shall be my last check-in from my home PC until I get to my hotel room in approximately 24 hours or so. Sometimes I wish we had teleporters or something to cross all that distance! Maybe we'll get fast sub orbital flights some day in my life time...
See you at Anthrocon if you're going. :)

AC 2010 Meme
Posted 15 years agoI'm supposed to be doing stuff today, but I got struck down with a fever and spending some down time to recover... So in the mean time, here's my AC 2010 meme:
1) Where are you staying?
The Westin Hotel. Although I honestly prefer the Omni, I need the Westin hotel for this year.
2) What day are you getting there?
Tuesday. I'm there earlier to recover from jetlag. So if any of your folks are up there early too, you can contact me.
3) Who will you be rooming with?
BIG QUESTION! Some plans have changed and I'm trying to work it out new roomies for my room.
4) How can I find you?
I'll be wandering around, I don't think I really have a place I stick around. You can message my mobile but take note it is an overseas number so it costs a little more than a regular message. The only certain thing is that I will be in the fursuit parade on Saturday!
5) Can I give you hugs?
If I know you, and you're clean and I'm not down with con crud, I think it is okay.
6) Can I dance with you?
Sorry, I don't dance unless it is Stomp Stomp Crush in suit.
7) Can I get pics with you?
Sure.
8) Can I talk to you?
Go ahead, although I must admit I'm a little shy.
9) Can I hang out with you?
If you don't mind wandering around, sure. XD
10) Can I buy you drinks?
I would really prefer non alcoholic drinks, unless it is already in the wee hours of the night. Alcohol doesn't soothe this dragon. :/
11) Do you wear anything with your suit?
Do wings count XD? I'll be in my dragon suit http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3648258/ for a few days of the con that I still have energy to suit up.
12) Do you do trades?
I don't draw.
13) What is your gender?
Male
14) Can I give you lots of money?
As much as I would like that, I rather the money be diverted to be more worthy causes than a dragon's meager treasure hoard.
15) Can I hug or snuggle with you?
This sounds like a duplicate question. @_@ If I know you, both of us are clean and I'm not down with con crud, I think it is okay.
16) How tall are you?
5' 10"
17) Are you nice?
I hope I am, in the quiet accommodating kind of way.
18) Are you cliquey?
Not that many circles for me to hang out in I'm afraid.
19) Can I stalk you?
Um, please don't? @_@
20) Do you like parties?
If it is not an overfilled room, I won't mind.
21) If I see you, how should I get your attention?
Saying hi, a wave, and a handshake will do nicely! Or even "OMG, Dragon! Fleee!"
22) Are you taken?
No.
23) Will you take commissions?
I don't draw.

And just one more month to AC 2010
Posted 15 years agoAnthrocon 2010 is now less than a month's away. Darn, time really flies.
This year is going to my first furry con in fursuit, and I'm still sorting through a few more logistical hurdles for that, but it shouldn't take too much longer. So hopefully, you get to see a black dragon. If he's fumbling around, not drunk just jet lagged. XD
Hope to see as many of ya up at the AC 2010!

How does one pack a huge dragon fursuit for air travel?
Posted 15 years agoThis is a common question among fursuits, but as I will be attending Anthrocon 2010 (Yay!), I still seem to have some issues on how to pack the suit for air travel.
My fursuit is very bulky and it doesn't seem it would want to play nice with packing. With local events, its a minor logistical issue but I'm a little unsure about international air travel. It seems that packing just the head and bodysuit is s enough to make the largest hard side economy class suitcase bulge slightly, and I'm worried about crush damage even though most of what I'm packing around it is with foam and fur.
I guess the least risky but most expensive is to just mail as much as I can (it'll probably take 2 large sized boxes), and then carry just the head along in the hardside luggage.
Would there be other alternatives to packing fursuits or am I just packing it too loosely?

Belated updates
Posted 17 years agoIt's the olde dragon's hatchling day today, and I had a great time with a bunch of local furs... including a pie in the first.
I'm uploading the rest of my AC 08 haul online too. It's been sitting in a sketchbook and I'm finally able to get them scanned and uploaded.
Enjoy!

Hi All
Posted 18 years agoHi folks,
I'm just making an art dump of my tiny haul from AC 07. It was a very long way away, but was it worth it.
Kudos to all the great people that made it happen. Hope to be there again next year!
