Comm Update (again yes, it's good news I promise)

To keep it short and sweet, I've been doing some thinking over the current financial climate we're all in with everything getting too expensive. I obviously agree it sucks, and I want to do what I can to make my work more affordable while still making sure I can get my own living expenses covered since art is my full-time job.
Starting tomorrow, I'm permanently increasingly monthly sales to being 15% off. For those unaware I run sales on the first Monday of every new month which run for 1 week, so it's fitting timing with Cyber Monday tomorrow to kick off this bigger sale discount being a set thing.
This also stacks with the discounts you get if you support me monthly on Patreon/Ko-Fi as an FYI ✌️
This sale will only apply to Artconomy since I keep forgetting to set it up on Ko-Fi, but to make things easier for both me and you, I've reduced my MS Paint doodles there to a £5 minimum with a pay what you want option, so it's there as a reliable cheap option for quick art to treat yourself.

Comms Open + Updates!
General | Posted 3 months agoI'll keep this one as short as possible, comms are open again because I thought my only big expense this month would be a giant Flareon plushie I preordered back in April but as of much more recently I need to cover getting some of my cat's teeth extracted which is going to be more expensive than the plushie, I can afford it out of my savings but I'm opening comms in the hope of just keeping myself better topped up for everyday expenses (and to try and build my savings back up so I can potentially afford a car since I recently passed my driving test, still waiting on my full license to arrive in the post).

Important update, a month ago Artconomy updated how payments get handled so I can no longer absorb the processing fees which I used to do, since it's a site update it's largely out of my hands. I've tried to balance this by setting it up so adding Shield protection is optional (you should get asked if you want to add it, if not that's a mistake and I'll fix that), in any case the prices listed are as close to intended price as possible for clarity’s sake (though you should get a rundown of costs when you comm me).
Reminder that you don't need an Artconomy account to buy a comm from me (I think you don't need one on Ko-Fi either but not 100% on that one) ✌️
I've also got a small handful of new comm options, I've set up options to buy pencil sketches and oil/wax pastel doodles from me. General | Posted 4 months agoNothing too serious here, more just letting folks know what's up (and doing some plugging, I'd hate to have you just read ahead and be slam-dunked with that but just what I gotta do as a self-employed artist) ✌️
Life is just busy for me, I've been working hard on getting my main project off the ground and really getting more into traditional art again. It's been really refreshing and exciting for me and has helped me learn a lot of things I would've struggled to learn in digital, so I really want to keep it up while still doing digital art for the things it's best at (like my main project and reference sheets).
I'm not at a point where I'm ready to show the full fruit of work on my main project yet, but I can tell you that I've drawn up a lot of rough comic pages during any free time I can get, I plan to dedicate a day to scanning them (yep they're on paper, the traditional art bug is that bad, but also it's faster than digital) rather than slowing down the progress having to scan each one I finish. I intend to keep it up and make finished pages to post until I have a good amount of backlog, aside from this next week or so.
Between working on my project and commissions, I've definitely worn myself out and need a solid break (how long I was taking to get comms done was definitely a sign of that). Now that my commission slate is clean, I can afford to close a little while. This'll help refresh my brain a bit, plus Pokemon Legends ZA is coming out tomorrow so I wanna sit down to play it freely (no spoilers pls), and depending on how much of a break I need playing some other vidgames would be pretty cool too. Games and shows are often my biggest sources of inspiration and new ideas, so I definitely need to refill the old creative well a bit.
That said there's still expenses that don't recognise my need for a break and that I have to deal with semi-regularly like my weekly driving lessons, my monthly vet appointments for my cat to keep her topped up with arthritis injections she needs and as of recently booking my driving test which is also an expense. Fingers crossed I do pass my driving test so it's one less expense (aside from the much bigger one of affording a car) 🤞💦

While I'm closed for commissions for now, I'm also planning to expand offerings to traditional art commissions. These will be more expensive than my digital art options because of the cost of materials but after a lot of mulling over prices and how to set things up I've at least worked that out now, I just need to set up some samples so folks will have a better idea of what they're getting. Unsure about physically posting commissions to clients yet, if I do it'd likely be restricted to just UK clients (because I live in Northern Ireland) until I figure out how to deal with international postage costs (especially to the US of A).
Honestly just being here appreciating my work means a lot too, this isn't my first time building an online presence, but I appreciate everyone here and across the other spaces I've been posting who've been supporting what I do from just looking at my art to supporting me monthly + everything in between, so thank you kindly for that.

General | Posted 10 months agoThe site is back and so am I \<3</ I was away for the whole week FA was down cause my sister was getting married and I had my bf visiting so I was rather tied up with that, it was all a nice time though
Just been rather tied up with all that going on but I have been drawing some things in the meantime, I'll try to get caught up on those and my comm work and show off everything soon, still chipping away at my main project primarily but it's not ready to show yet, I've made lots of headway towards that though

Hi I want to keep this very short because I hate writing these as much as most people hate reading them, this is basically more Patreon plugging for a couple reasons
- I'm trying to learn how to drive which involves weekly lessons which eats into expenses but I don't exactly want to give up learning this much needed skill because of how much not knowing how to drive really holds me back in being independent
- My cat is getting on in her years which means she's now got more medical problems I have to pay to treat out of my pocket, as of writing this she gets monthly injections to manage arthritis and needs hyperthyroidism medicine given to her twice a day, both of these + the payment plan I'm on to /lessen/ her vet bill costs still costs me monthly
- My schedule is overall busier than I'd like so making time for working on commissions has gotten more difficult, decreasing how dependant I am on them would help a lot, I'll still be open to them but with my increased expenses it's put pressure on to keep on top of money having to hope I get something to help afford expenses
- I do get a monthly PIP for being autistic and needing support in areas but it only barely covers everything mentioned above and also has to do me through the outings I have to go on most days, I don't want to say how much exactly it is on a public platform but it wouldn't even cover a months rent to give some idea (I live with family so rent isn't an issue)

With all that said above I'm going to start more strictly adhering to a work routine to better balance the things I both want and have to do with my time (as much as life will allow for at least), basically means I'll have to slow down how often I work on comms in order to juggle everything in a more balanced fashion. Obviously I'll still see to it that works gets done but it's going to have to be slower from here on out, I've updated my estimates on Artconomy of when work'll get done accordingly.

I've also added an additional offering to my deluxe ref sheets (IE my default style I usually opt for), since my old res for them was rather small I'm offering an upscaling service for those who have bought a ref sheet from me in the past!
It's pretty much what it sounds like, just send me the ref you want me to work on and you'll get back one at a much larger res (roughly 5000x2000 compared to the silly tiny 2000x1000 res they used to be) done up with fresh linework and colouring to make futureproofing easier /<3<\ ! It'll cost $110 to do since it'll still take time to redraw it all but since the old ref is serving as a rough to go over it's still reduced from a full price fresh reference. https://artconomy.com/store/kitterC...../product/3865/

Did mention in the other journal how I set up my Ko-Fi ( https://ko-fi.com/kittercyat ) to have monthly support tiers the same as my Patreon ( https://www.patreon.com/Cyat ), I did this because of the recent word of Apple forcing further charges on people using Patreon on IOS which is obviously shitty so best I can do is offer an alternative, I don't have my posts mirrored on Ko-Fi yet and my free time has been tight lately but I will try to post a decent amount to show and get it as caught up as possible!
Other important thing is because of this change I had to change the currency Ko-Fi operates in to be consistent with my Patreon which has meant adjusting the prices in my own currency. This of course affects the MS Paint doodles offered so they're now charged in £'s but to keep the price as close as possible to what it was I've taken the cost down to £8 which adds up to roughly $10 still. Unfortunately I'm not rich so I can't do anything about how inflation affects the cost but I've done my best there /<3<\

General | Posted a year agoRealising the past week of struggling to get much done during a very busy week coupled with low energy for doing art that I need to close comms for a while to be able to recharge by spending some more time doing stuff for myself and freshening up my routine, I'll still be finishing my current queue but it'll just take a bit of time to get there and I need to make some time to relax so I can get back at my queue with more energy 💦

General | Posted 2 years agoI know I just started posting art again but I've been planning this trip since January, I'm heading to the US for a holiday so I'll obviously not be around until I'm back on May 30th, though I'll still be taking time after that to recover energy from such a trip /<3<\
I've been having some burnout creatively for a long while so I think the change of scenery and pace will be just the thing to sort that haha

As often as I'm able to, at the very least I leave it in those designated spaces in the car park if I haven't got time to take it all the way back

Definitely a listener but I talk more with people I feel comfortable with

No but I'm trying to work on that

Nop, very bad with numbers

Definitely not, I can barely survive being in a city

No, there's never been as much of a scene for that in Ireland but used to want to try it when I'd see 'merican's on TV doing it

Pokemon Ruby/FireRed & LeafGreen, the Spyro trilogy (basically nothing's changed since then)
10. Could you date someone with different religious beliefs than you?
I don't have any myself but I don't mind if they're not using it as an excuse to be bigoted or hateful

I can't tell if this is supposed to mean platonically or romantically but I guess either way being pursued cause I have a hard time doing the pursuing, I just like the assurance that someone's interested in me

If I wasn't locked into that high adrenaline mode though I'd grab my favourite plushies first thing.

If cheesecake counts I'm going for that, if we're talking purely classics I like something other than chocolate cause my family has it for every other birthday in the house and I'm fed up with it by the time we get to mine to the extent I'll go out of my way to bake my own cake.

I try not to be these days but I'm also trying to be more trusting in certain areas

I don't think it's necessary in general for happiness, really people just need others they can feel comfortable enough to be themselves with, that person just could be a partner

There's a version of me in another universe who isn't terrible at surviving school systems and is off being a volcanologist, otherwise I'm slowly getting towards making the kind of artist living I want for myself these days

Quick preface is this doesn't apply to any commissions ongoing prior to this journal going up.
I would very much recommend you take a look at the links below which will let you get a good read of the info for yourself but I will also give a summary here, I'd especially recommend reading my updated ToS if you're planning to commission me so you have the most up to date info

Biggest changes are:
Complex character designs will now be charged at +50% of the cost of a character being added to a piece across the board, this is based on my own discretion alone
Private comms will now have an additional charge of +40% of the overall cost to offset not being able to use the piece itself to grow my business
Corrections will see charges applied appropriately, this is too varied and complex to lay down an exact cost for so this is warned of in my ToS
None of these are fun ones I know but these have been long necessary changes I've put off doing and I have to do it sooner rather than later.
A more fun update however is in order to help this side of things grow a little better I'm going to hold monthly sales (lasting 1 week) where I'll have everything 5% off (and anything I'm more in need of fresh samples for will be 10% off). These will stack if you're a Patreon supporter where you'll get to add the commission discount perks to these sales ✌️
Extra important note, Artconomy recently updated the site UI and it's been a bit buggy since then where I've had some issues with not receiving all the references from clients when they were sent and the like so apologies for any inconvenience that crops up during this time.

After New Years I'm going to take on comms again on a perpetually open basis (still with slot limits to not overload myself and make time for other projects) because one of my big goals for next year is to save up funds to go travelling so I'm gonna need all I can scrounge up, Ko-Fi doodles are always open too but I most likely won't be able to get to any over Christmas /<3<\
