I Who Have Never Known Men by Jacqueline Harpman which is like getting punched in the stomach in slow motion

Lost In the Garden by Adam S Leslie. It’s kind of like Roadside Picnic set in the English countryside but much much more than that

The Empusium by Olga Tokarczuk. The translation is beautiful, the story is great, some real fucking nasty gross moments, the book is a lot of things.

My Year Of Rest and Relaxation by Otessa Moshfegh. woman moment

Paradise Rot by Jenny Hval. Like having sex with rotting meat.

theres that cliche thats thrown around in artist circles about how much money you can make as a furry artist. its not that easy or simple like, but im going thru my records for the tax year and man so much of my income is from furry art.

i luv you guys, i love drawing art for you and i love how supportive you are of me. its genuinely the Best. i'm so tired of work and money and Aaaaaaaall Thaaaaaaaat but like. I genuinely truly love drawing furry animal people. Its so much fun and it brings people so much pure joy.

the bit where the kid and the dad are being chased interspersed with clips of the battle of agincourt, how the british survivors all use bows. This harkening back to old Britannia to survive the new brutal world

Scavenging ruins for supplies, living a brutal hard life while above you can see vapor trails from airplanes flying over head. The dad talking about boats and stuff to a son who has never known the world before the virus, who has never left the Holy Island

the JIMMIES. how a kid who survived an apocalypse in 2002 of course he would idolize jimmy saville and nobody would know about the shit he did.

the kid and his mum sheltering in the ruins of Fountains Abbey, surrounded by medieval stone statues.

The scene on the causeway, walking across the sea with the aurora above after surviving his first outing on the mainland

The alpha zombie standing on the hill underneath the lone tree in the green field. The giant stampedes of deer.

It felt like it was so much more than a zombie film. It was a meditation on british identity at its most raw and brutal, not in a gammony brexit patriot way, but in a who are we really, on this shitty diseased island. How the survivors only survived by banding together and working together, contrast w/ the soldiers at the end of 28 days who can barely keep their shit together without someone to shag.

i gotta freak out about this film it was SO good

tryin to avoid spoilers here but

it built so much on the first film, you dont see many post-post zombie apocalypse films and you def dont see them done this well, it expanded the world so much and everything felt so realized

but it was also so much more. it really felt like it was talking about british identity, what this island is about. THe VIBE. like i love a good zombie film but a zombie film that has Themes??? yes!?

and the style! it was so weird! so many wild editing choices that just Fucked my Shit up!!!!!!!!!

And the soundtrack!!!!!!!!
