Last raffle was so fun! I wanted to do it again,  trexqueen needs some commissions, you of course want free art, so everyone wins!

Winner wins some kind of art piece with Steele, they can choose the general theme or toss ideas out, but ultimately it's up to  trexqueen on what she';; do, so check out her rules and whatnot on what she does art of.

Dusting off FriskyPaws, had some requests to start opening the Discord channel so people can ask questions, talk about it, and be up to date on it...

I'm going to see if I can't stick to at least a bi-weekly status update, maybe weekly, haven't decided on a day/time yet. Trying to consider what may be best. Would be ideal if I could record it or something, I dunno...

But anyone with my phone number automatically can add me from their contact list (not mine, so blocking mine doesn't fucking help).

I can't sign up without a phone number.

And even then with Android 5.1 I cannot block contact lists, so you'll just re-scrape mine when I open the app on my phone.

So Friskypaws has had a Discord for *months* now, has been pretty empty but  axelrazor got an invite today because he said he'd riot if I didn't...

Last week I put in 76 hours of work, *however* this should be dying down... I've been literally unable to touch FriskyPaws.


The question is do I post the Discord channel and let people ask/talk about it and start holding weekly/bi-weekly talks or do I keep it mainly shut-down for now?

I hang out with quite a few artists and know of a few more that have lost work due to their computers going up in smoke and them not having backups. I've been considering donating some of my unused space for backups using something like Crashplan + friend codes, but I have absolutely no clue how realistic that is (if everyone needs 100GB+ I can't really help right now).

Currently I'm running 3 Ark servers for  theredghost *currently* they're all on one server, but that is totally going to change:

This is ridiculous! *Writing* 2000+ IOPs when almost no one is on?! Ack, going to break this out into 3 servers to hopefully load balance the I/O workloads.

So I've talked with a few people about FriskyPaws.net, I guess the easiest pitch is "imagine FA + E621".

The idea is to keep things pretty user centric (having your own profile page, your own character pages, artist pages), while applying some e621 logic (no image duplicates, community-contributed tagging), along with some fun gamifying of contributing (reputation points for uploading/tagging/commenting etc.). I got some longer-term goals of solid commission/market support built-in and a bunch of other stuff, but that's a bit down the road. A lot of ideas have come from artists and struggles they have with various platforms.

I have some *really* snazzy long-term plans and some are detailed on the Trello board.

Now while I've put some time into it off and on, and got a lot of the *hard* issues sorted, I've done bad at making headway into doing some of basic heavy-lifting (though I've been making progress recently), two of the biggest reasons for that are: 1) I have a ton of side work I'm working on right now, leaving me little "downtime", and 2) it's hard to dedicate that *additional* time to working on Frisky Paws if I'm unsure if anyone is even interested in the platform.

On top of that I've been sitting on an empty Discord, pondering when I'd start up weekly talks with the community on progress/what they want/etc.
