General | Posted 10 years agoI notice they do things people ask of them even if they don't want to, or previously stated they won't because they've been put on the spot.
It's generally the fear of getting a bad review, or the inability to say no that prompts them do do this, and I suppose that's on them. 'Buck up', or 'learn how to say no', blahblahblah, stabbing yourself in the foot there but... it's still grating when customers ask for things they shouldn't be, or asking more than what they politely should- if that makes sense.
Like a PWYW. You pay 5 bucks, then expect the artist to draw all this really complicated stuff. Sure you can say the artist is doing it to themselves, but you can't say people haven't turned around and shit on the artist for less things. Oh, you won't draw this super complicated thing for 5 bucks? Well now I'm going to drag your name through the mud.
There are customers that act like they're entitled to something, and tend the drop down the ever so lovely, 'Well I'm paying you so you have no right to complain.'
Well, when you're paying 25 bucks and demanding 50 dollars of work, then yes, the artist has all the right to complain- buttt the customer will never see it that way.
It's happen time and time again, and some artists just feel nervous about being put through that.
Nevertheless, I'm forever thankful for those watchers who understand and follow the rules/common sense. Love you guys uwu

General | Posted 10 years agoI have realized for quite some time now, parents have a hard time empathizing with their kids. On. Kinda everything. Now there are those parents who do, I think Ryn's mom is like that and goddamn is she ever a needle in a hay stack, but then there's my parents... and then on a worse degree, Itchy's parents.
In Ryn's case, she spoke to her mother about how she might have a blood clot. What did her mom do?
Took that into consideration, and took her time to ease Ryn's worries. Explained they don't have a history, and how she's young, but DESPITE THAT, she recognized her daughter was in distress, and helped her ease her worries. We'll get you into a doctor, etcetc, see what's up. Better safe than sorry!

In my case, I came to mom proposing the idea that I might(lol might) have anxiety. I explained all the reasons why, because my parents are the kinda parents where you need to speak professionally, have all the information, and address shit in a mater of fact educational way.
Mom's response? 'Oh I have that too, I get nervous when the exit I usually take is blocked off so I have to find another! The issue with you is you let every little thing bother you and you talk yourself into all this stress.'

Promptly followed be my screaming and crying ONLY A LITTLE BIT and getting Ryn to take care of it (She killed one finally instead of just LETTING IT GO so it can go tell ALL ITS FRIENDS to come on over)
Well, once upon a time I found a spider in the closet. FINALLY QUITTING MY JOB TODAY, which is a bummer because no income and my savings will strictly be towards schooling and such
But uhg, finally away from that toxic place 8') I'm so excited.
First work experience and it was going great for half a year till things took a bad turn and the workers were treated like shit because the higher ups knew they wouldn't quit/the union is BFFs with the boss and turned a blind eye to a lot of awful shit going on.
OUT OF THAT PLACE and going to school (\;w;/) I'll finally have time to sit down and work on GemExchange and get a little organization done.

Some people actually don't have the money and mean it when they say they wish they had the funds. I get that. But I've just repeatedly seen people comment on one auction/batch with Oh man I really wish I had the money for these!
But then suddenly have the money a day, or even an HOUR after the fact.
I wonder if the people who do this realize how much of a huge kick to the teeth that is. It's basically telling one artist 'your art isn't good enough'
maybe if the other auction was cheaper? But I literally mean, 'I wish I had the money to spend 50 dollars on this! *turns around and drops 125 dollars on something else*'
Don't tell an artist you wish you had money to buy X thing if you have the money. Just say you like the art or think it's nice or just don't comment! I wish I could go about saying this in a nicer way but man it's so Damn hurtful and exasperating.
I can't even describe how painful that is :c

My partner and I have been together 6 years now. I’ve been on disability for 7, so we’ve struggled financially for a long time. We’re used to pinching pennies and keeping a tight budget, but we’ve coped.
Last year a drug cartel moved into our neighborhood. We were witness to several large cash exchanges almost daily, and at one point had to climb over someone cooking heroine on our stairs at 1pm on a Sunday. When a friend offered us a place to stay it seemed stupid not to take him up on it. We didn’t expect to find out he had a drug problem… after trying to get him help over the course of 6 months, handling his hallucinations and constant blackouts, he abandoned the apartment in the middle of the night. We tried to help him, and I feel like doing the"right thing" cost us our own security, but I like to believe I would do it again.
My partner has gotten a new full time position, and I have gotten my BA and managed to file in my ticket-to-work and acquire an on-call position at DESC, a homeless shelter. We’re fully self-sufficient at this point, and I’ve even qualified for housing authority AND come up on the section 8! Everything would be looking up, if not for one small detail. We’re being evicted.
Us, and our adopted cats, are looking at the very real prospect of becoming homeless. We have until Tuesday before that goes on our permanent record. Every apartment we ever apply for will see that we’ve been evicted, and it may even make me ineligible for housing assistance.
The dozens of apartments we have contacted don’t have a move in until mid-May… but we will be on the streets on the 28th. I have no family in the area to stay with, and the only one that I could is a 3 hour commute away, and would only let me live with them and not my partner. I cannot abandon her.
I just need one more month. Heck, I just need a few more weeks…! We could move in as soon as the 10th and be rid of this place if we just had enough to pay this 10-day notice and cease the eviction process.
Anything will help us get out of this situation. Just a few dollars… if we don’t meet the monetary amount perhaps we could make enough to fund our stay in a cheap hotel for a temporary period of time.
Thank you for reading. I really hate to ask for this much money, but at this point I have no idea what to do to avoid getting this eviction on our record. Even enough to leave and go to a hotel would be great, as we don’t get any paychecks til the end of next week.

Accepted into University

Okay so yesterday I spent the entirety of it bowed over a toilet, which in case you're wondering, shrimp and almond ice cream do not taste so great coming back up and the colors are interesting to say the least, but at least they come up nice.
BUT THROUGH ALL THAT, I got an email from the university I want to go to saying I was accepted :')!!! Damn right you accept me, I paid you guys to read my application >:( I don't pay to get denied.
SO HAPPY THOUGH, in a few months I'll be going to school \o\ NOT looking forward to the student loan but hey to get anywhere in life you need to be shoved into several thousands in debt for the rest of your life, right, right?
