Has it really been 5 years since I've posted a journal update? I cannot promise that the same won't be true here so if you're reading this in 2027 please note that I am probably due for another some soon.

Where Have I Been?

Firstly, welcome to all the new watchers! There's a number of you so I apologize that I cannot thank each of you individually but know that you are most appreciated. Secondly, how is everyone? I've been away for longer than I anticipated but there is a good reason for that, for you see: I have purchased a house. I know, I know, there should be more fanfare but at this point I am just absolutely exhausted from all the searching, packing, moving, unpacking, and various little projects that needed to be done to make a house a home. That said, I am slowly easing My way back into things. So it will be a bit longer before I can start uploading the backlog of images I have, mostly because I have no energy to write stories or blurbs for them just yet.

August Update!

I know I haven't been around much lately, but don't worry, I'm still alive and kicking. I've been doing My best to try to change up some bad habits I picked up while in Grad School, namely: not eating healthy, getting less exercise, and having a horrible sleep schedule. This has resulted in My having less time to spend on FA (though I do still have a massive art backlog) and being a weird funk lately fueled by changing everything up. That combined with a few projects that I've been working on eats up most of My free time right now. Do not worry though, My lovelies, I haven't abandoned you! Special thanks to the new watchers and those who have marked an image as a favorite. Please don't forget to comment on things and I'll be trying to get through the backed up comments this week.

Fearzy have just received some of the worst news a pet owner can hear, their cat Milo has been diagnosed with Lymphoma and the prognosis isn't good. They're both open for emergency commissions to help pay for his treatment. Road Trip

I know it seems like only yesterday that I went out of town, but I'm headed away again, this time for 4 or 5 days. I'm flying to the southwest to pick up a car and drive it cross-country back home. I know that seems a bit silly but in the end it was either over a thousand dollars to ship the thing or take the few days and pick it up. The savings is several hundred dollars AND I get a new car out of the deal, plus get to visit a few friends along the way and see family, so all in all, I come out ahead.
Once again, I've left some money on the table, there's frozen pizzas in the freezer, and
Lyshara is in charge, so behave.

Keyboards

If it's not one thing it's another. This week has been nothing but frustration, I won't go into details but after getting My car all squared away and a few other issues around the apartment I was settling down to finally do some writing and maybe some posting last night when lo and behold... I spill soda all over My keyboard. Now, no telling Me how dumb it is to keep liquids around My desk, we all know about it, we all do it anyway, it was dumb and I was inattentive. Needless to say, scrambled to shut the computer off as fast I can and Windows decides, "Would really suck if someone had to install updates right now... WELL HERE WE GO!!" Commence frantically waiting through updates while scrambling to clean up as much as I can from the keyboard. Computer finally shuts off and I can assess the damage.
Special shout-out to the folks at Corsair who can't officially direct Me to teardown guides but are very good at hinting at where they are. Disassemble the keyboard, wipe down as much of the circuit board as I can get to with 90% isoprople alcohol and leave it to dry overnight. Reassembled it (note when doing so make sure ALL parts are inside the damn thing so you don't have to pull it apart again) and then it's time for the test... keyboard works, kinda. It'll let Me type, I'm typing this journal right now on it, but it'll randomly disconnect/reconnect and there's no rhyme or reason to it. I'm not exactly sure what to do with it now other than maybe give the circuit board an alcohol bath and let it dry again, but really I don't have time for that shit. I may call the keyboard a lost cause and go get a new one, I'm sure I have the receipt for this thing somewhere and can just get Corsair to refund Me since their warranties are fantastic, we'll see.

Backlog & Road to 750

Looking through My backlog list of pictures to post I have somewhere in the realm of 30 pictures that I need to upload, some of which require Me to write stories. Additionally, I know for a fact that there are a number of pictures in the work that are on the way. So, I'll be trying to play catch up on these pieces, but are there any particular themes you all are looking forward to seeing as there's an eclectic mix of pictures to put up. I'm not saying you'll get your way but it is nice to hear what kind of pictures you all enjoy.
Additionally, as of this writing I am at 683 watchers, which is amazing!! Thank you to all of you for watching and favoriting and all the other lovely things you do to make Me feel welcome here. I have something planned for when I hit 750 watchers, but I won't spoil that just yet. Just know for sure that it'll be fantastic and I'm very excited for it!

Just dropping a line to let everyone know that I will be on vacation for the next few days and thus unreachable by normal channels. Feel free to leave comments or drop Me notes, or any of those other wonderful things you do that let Me know how you are and how much you miss Me, but I won't be getting back to them to respond until next week.
Have a lovely weekend all of you, and try not to wreck the place while I'm gone. Clean up after any wild parties, I left some cash on the kitchen counter, and the emergency fund is inLyshara's name, so don't be too reckless with it, or you'll have to answer to her!

Saw this on Lobstmourne's tumblr and I'd love to see what you all come up with:
Imagine… that your original character is now in a game like “Overwatch” “League of Legends”, or “Heroes of the Storm”! Kind of cool, right?
Let’s go a little further! Imagine that there’s a new patch and your character has received some alternate skins as part of the patch.
For example, maybe they have a “Master Skin” now? Or maybe a “Holiday Skin”?
What alternate skins would your character have if they were in a game like HoTS? Are there different color variations on those skins? Do those skins have their own backstory, etc.?
I’d love to see what people can come up with!

Status Update and Ramblings

Firstly, to all My new watchers and those I haven't thanked before, either for commenting, adding a favorite, or watching: Thank you! The support your provide through those actions are very appreciated and also useful feedback in letting Me know what to get more of. As always, please comment, even if it's something as simple as "I really like this pose" or "I'd love to see more of this!" as it gives Me insight into what does and does not work. On that note, I reached 500 watchers recently! I'm at 506 as the writing of this journal, but that's still insane to Me. I never thought I'd reach 100 let alone 500. I may do something special for that, what do you all think? Give Me feedback on this.
As for Me, I apologize for not being as active lately, it's the end of the semester and the final project crunch is real. In Graduate programs you don't have final exams, instead you get assigned massive research papers and presentations that professors often don't give you the prompt for until about 2 weeks before they're due. This is on top of all the other work that's assigned, so if you can see where I'm going here, I've been rather swamped. No need to worry though, for better or worse, everything is due on Wednesday the 16th, so I'll either sink or swim by that point. That said, My absence will continue until then, but I have a nice backlog of pieces to upload when I have time again.

Firstly, to all My new watchers and those I haven't thanked before, either for commenting, adding a favorite, or watching: Thank you! The support your provide through those actions are very appreciated and also useful feedback in letting Me know what to get more of. As always, please comment, even if it's something as simple as "I really like this pose" or "I'd love to see more of this!" as it gives Me insight into what does and does not work. On that note, I reached 500 watchers recently! I'm at 506 as the writing of this journal, but that's still insane to Me. I never thought I'd reach 100 let alone 500. I may do something special for that, what do you all think? Give Me feedback on this.
As for Me, I apologize for not being as active lately, it's the end of the semester and the final project crunch is real. In Graduate programs you don't have final exams, instead you get assigned massive research papers and presentations that professors often don't give you the prompt for until about 2 weeks before they're due. This is on top of all the other work that's assigned, so if you can see where I'm going here, I've been rather swamped. No need to worry though, for better or worse, everything is due on Wednesday the 16th, so I'll either sink or swim by that point. That said, My absence will continue until then, but I have a nice backlog of pieces to upload when I have time again.

LEGION: Paladin Changes

As you know, Cavalina is a Blood Knight, the Sin'dorei form of paladin. Shi's not a self-righteous warrior-priest but rather a mage-knight who wield the power of Holy-Light magic through sheer force of will. The Sin'dorei are the Children of the Sun, elves with an innate tie to magic that is in many ways bred into them from early ages and drawn for the limitless power of the Sunwell. Why all this background? Because with World of Warcraft: Legion we're seeing Blizzard refocus on class fantasy and identity, so I am here to report on the class overview and what it means for the lovely Sin'dorei knight you've all come to love and faun over.
Initial thoughts: I like that they're refocusing each of the specializations on "what makes this type of paladin different from others." Holy Paladins now stand out as your field medics, charging into battle and bolstering their allies with their mere presence. Protection Paladins are the bastions of righteous strength, the battle pivots around them, leading from the front and holding their ground, this is Cavalina and I like where they're going. Retribution Paladins are leaning once again to the hand of vengeance, the unstoppable force of an angered god. If they can keep that focus they should be good, also.. they finally get a gap closer, praise the Sunwell!
From reading over the overview they're headed in a good direction and like most of the rest of the Legion coverage Blizzard seems have learned from mistakes made along with listening to feedback. We'll see where they go with it though. Did anyone else notice that there was no mention of Seals? I wonder if those are headed out since they're basically defunct now, we shall see. If there's anything else you want insight in on or have a point you want to make please let Me know.

Character Development Exercise

I've been extra busy with coursework lately so I haven't had a lot of time to respond to comments or notes, and I apologize for that. In order to keep Myself from going completely insane I'll need a distraction. Therefore I propose a mental exercise to keep My mind fresh. Below I'm going to post "30 Uncommon Character Questions" and then each of you can pick one and I'll answer to the best of My ability, keep in mind I'll be answering them as Cavalina. Now for the twist, once I've answered your question you'll need to answer it as whichever one of your characters asked the question of Lady Dawnwalker. Sound like fun? Let's get to it!
01) What position does your character sleep in? ( i.e; stomach, side, back, etc. ) Describe why they do this — optional.
02) Does your character have any noteworthy features? Freckles? Dimples? A scar somewhere unusual? etc.
03) Does your character have an accent? What does it sound like?
04) Do they have any verbal tics? Do they have trouble pronouncing certain words or getting their thoughts across clearly?
05) What are their chief tension areas?
06) If you were to pick one song — and only one song — to describe your character, what would it be and why?
07) How does your character perceive themselves? Positive? Negative? Neutral?
08) Are they a quick thinker or do they need time to sort through their thoughts?
09) Does your character dream or are their nights filled with an empty blackness? Describe a dream they’ve had or a night they couldn’t sleep and what they did to preoccupy their time.
